Absolutely a 5 star. I’m a big brunch lover, I wait all week to relish brunch on the weekends. Went with my family on a Saturday day great feeling, amazing mural in the rear dining room, type staff, wonderful pub. Incredibly impressed with the cocktail menu it contains many interesting drinks that really capture the eye. The bartender truly impressed me, my 10-year old fashioned was just awesome. I’ll undoubtedly be revisiting The Bar Room. ADDITIONALLY its a great place to go to on the weekends as it’s found near tons of great Nyc shopping.

Very cute place with a 30s vibe. Reasonably priced drinks and perfect/convenient location. Haven’t tried the food here yet but love the wine and beer lists. Just took one star away because the bathroom is retardedly small for a nicer Midtown place. I don’t get it?

The colorful murals and cool furniture gives a classy 1920s bar feel. It gets crowded around brunch hour may want to reserve. Loved the lemon ricotta pancakes — YUM. Nice portions.

Total Rating: 3.5 stars Had dinner with a party of 4 on a clear Sunday evening after hearing about the Michelin starred chef that runs the kitchen. We came hungry so we ordered a bunch of snacks and entrees that included: Veal Scotch Egg — very small for $ 7 and already cut in half? why?, practically the size of a Cadbury crème egg but had good flavor and texture, just wish it was the size of an ostrich egg Steak Tartar — bit too salty and had bits of gristle throughout, not worth $ 16!!! Shrimp Tacos — waaay to much filling on a single tiny tortilla, but had great flavor and just enough spiciness but had to attack it like I’m clipping the red wire on a bomb, not the best dish when trying to look fly on a date. Bar Room Fries — people either love or hate truffle oil but when paired with parmesan its gorgeous, wonderfully crisp and great dish. Baked Mac ‘n Cheese — sooo delicious, like swimming in a creamy cheesy jacuzzi surrounded by crisp prosciutto floaties. Def a must try and don’t apologize for eating it all by yourself. Chorizo Rioja(charcuterie) — like little gold coins of tastiness, perfectly spicy and fatty. Bar Room Burger sub. Brussel Sprout — great that they let us sub our fries for sprouts, burger patty is loosely packed and had a delicious crust sealing in the fountain of juiciness gushing from the burger. PS don’t eat the baguette slices served with the snacks. They are so hard and dry similar to eating a dried up sponge. The dining room breathes a sexy boozy vibe which will definitely bring it home on a date. Didn’t get a chance to look at the drink menu but will definitely stop by again to give them a second chance.

Hands down some of the best service I’ve ever had. The cocktails were amazing and the atmosphere was very laid back, but classy. Perfect spot for after work especially on a Monday when it’s relatively busy and lively but not too overwhelming. Didn’t have the food, but that’s because my boyfriend and I are vegetarians and the menu was meat heavy. Not a deciding factor in my drinking decision though :) just overall 5 stars and we will be back OFTEN.

Decent, but didn’t wow me. Cute décor. Came here for brunch with a group of 6 and we were seated immediately. Service was attentive and friendly. I ordered the Benedict with salmon and while it was okay, I’ve definitely had more flavorful Benedict dishes with better sauces before. I wouldn’t come back for brunch, given all of the other options around the city, but I’m willing to give it another try for drinks.

Went in for brunch and it was great! The place was very warm and inviting; it was great for family and friend brunches as well as couple brunches. The food came quickly; it all tasted so delicious! Everything was fresh and portions were quite generous!

The Bar Room NY Manhattan UES-ish 9pm Sunday 24th January 2016 Four Stars The bar Room has two large Flat Screen TVs but nobody seemed to care that the Carolina Panthers destroy the Arizona Cardinals on Championship Sunday. The vibe of this bar/restaurant is down tempo chill with slightly younger crowd. The massive 20 person wooden bar runs along length of the room. They have several cozy tables opposite to the bar and in the back. I stopped by for my 9th Whiskey Passport stop. I had a Jim Bean Single Barrel Old Fashion. It was served in a heavy rocks glass with cold draft ice and small orange peel. It lacked the distinct bitter quality but was overall well crafted. I also had to try the Veal Scotch Egg($ 7) with whiskey infused pickles. The egg came precut which was more ascetically pleasing but ruins the fun of cutting into it. The exterior was crispy which paired nicely to the tenderness of the veal. Its adherence was relatively low. The egg itself was medium boiled instead of running. The aioli was decent. The whiskey pickles were definitely house-made with a bit crunch and tanginess.

This is a great, chill bar. I used to live in the area and we could always count on this place to not be too packed to enjoy ourselves, but always be serving up good drinks. We spent New Years here one year and it was fun hanging out with the bartenders– they gave out a lot of free bubbly.

My friend and I were looking for a tasty burger for dinner. The Bar Room did not disappoint! Truffle aioli, pickles, butter lettuce with a side of horseradish mustard. Excellent. The menu is concise yet comprehensive. Wonderful service. I’ll be back.

I came here with 2 out of town guests. We were seated promptly and our waitress was very helpful. For starters, I had the shrimp tacos, which were surprisingly tasty — and my best pick of the meal. I had the marguez sandwich(lamb sausage), which wasn’t too big — more like hotdog sized sausage in a pita-wrap with a tzatziki sauce — and was served with a nice chickpea salad. Fellow diners had the bar room fries, the bar room burger and the korean bbq salmon — and every seemed to enjoy their food. Nice atmosphere, good service, decent food at a decent price. Not bad.

Solid place. We enjoyed the retro vintage bar area and the overall feel of the place. We were in desperate need for a drink after a visit to Central Park turned my wife’s phone into a waterlogged paperweight. The Bar Room had a not so large beer menu but we found a few beers to drink. The server was friendly but distracted by some of their friends on the other side of the bar. No problem, we had our drinks. The back area with tables is very pretty. High ceilings and natural ambient light. The bathroom was down a flight of stairs so it did not seem handicapped accessible. Overall, a fine place, but nothing special in this city with a million other bars. Good for a quick drink.

Happy hour every day. That’s all you need to know. It’s a limited selection, you can really only choose from a vodka, tequila, or Jameson mule($ 10). All snacks were $ 8, and oysters were $ 2. I had a vodka mule, it’s served with Absolut vodka in a copper mug and crushed ice. I think that this particular mule was a little light, diluted by the ice and a lot of ginger. We ate half a dozen oysters and shared the pork buns. The oysters that day were from Long Island, they were decently good and tasted pretty fresh. The pork buns were extremely good. At first, I didn’t expect it to be pulled pork, but it was really fatty, in a good way, and the sauce was delicious. It made a mess, but all worth it in the end. Happy hour is definitely reasonable and worth the money. Highly advised.

Everyone knows that this area is a dead zone when it comes to good places to eat — I usually try to avoid ending up around here during the lunch hour… BUT The Bar Room is actually a pretty good option should you find yourself ready to grub after your Genius Bar appointment. Atmosphere is cozy(lots of tables!), and the back room gets a ton of sunlight. The place was bustling on Sunday afternoon, so calling ahead to save yourself a seat is probably a good idea. All of the entrees run about $ 15, and have a bit of flair: my French toast came with a bacon-apple chutney, and my friends ordered a beet and orange salad and Moraccan eggs. If you’ve worked up an appetite from looking at all of the Christmas Windows, stop on by!

This is a great bar, although it is a little pricey. I’ve only been here for cocktails, but I’ve always been pleased. It is a classy bar(and restaurant in back), and the clientele is varied but skews Midtowny. That being said, it’s easy to carve out an intimate space if you’re looking for that. One time I came here, they were doing a production of «The Importance of Being Earnest» in the dining room. We had a good time watching, and I hope they do that some more!

As of late, this place has become one of my favorite spots for dinner/drinks with friends. The ambiance is casual/hip. There’s a DJ. The cocktails are amazing(the Slow Down Hero is whiskey and cider and special stuff). It’s right off the train too(NQR/456). I’m super picky about fish, but the Korean BBQ Salmon is one of my favorite dishes. The pork buns and merguez sandwich(lamb sausage) are also quite tasty. I’d recommend making a reservation! The staff members are friendly and attentive, but it can definitely get loud. Snag one of the sweet corner tables /booth-like spots if you can.

3.5÷5 for me here We popped in here around 12pm on a Saturday afternoon and found this place relatively empty. The bar had a handful of people sitting and watching some games and the dining room in the back had 3 or 4 tables seated. The atmosphere was nicer than what you initially think about when you hear ‘bar’ in the name and the girls we were with were relatively surprised. Getting to the food, we did some salads with salmon, eggs Benedict and burger with fries. The food was all done well and my burger was cooked to order and came with a good size portion of fries as well. Overall, after a cocktail each, tax and tip it came out to about $ 35⁄40 a person which I thought was a bit pricier than you would expect for a drink and lunch entrée. Granted, the service was friendly and even nice enough to comp one part of our meal(one dish came out so much later than the other entrees and without us saying anything, the waitress addressed this issue which was great). I would recommend if you are in the area and looking for a casual place to grab good food. Buon appetito.

3.5 stars, rounded down until I’m able to return before 10pm to see if their non-party/earlier evening scene is as awesome as I’ve been told it is. Really nice atmosphere… except for the skylight with the creepy red lights. Really liked the curved booth seating in the back where they sat us upon our request to be in the quietest area of the restaurant. The hostess was very nice, professional, courteous, and considerate. The guests who used the table before us trashed it. So the hostess temporarily sat us out of view, and had multiple staff members clean the table and booth, in order to fulfill our request. Very comfortable table, though the music is cranked so loudly that conversation was still a bit challenging(this was the case when the place was full, and later in the evening when it was only at 1⁄3 capacity). Our server was equally lovely, as he was very nice and patient as my dining companion asked many questions to make drink and dinner decisions. However, neither the hostess or our server knew that the chef leaves at 11pm nightly, after which they switch to a limited menu. So we based our drinks off of a dinner we couldn’t have. The server was very apologetic, and offered to compensate for the oversight by jazzing up my fries with Parmesan and truffle oil(unfortunately, they came out sans jazz). Food came out in a respectable amount of time, and properly paced. Veal scotch eff was delectable. One of the better burgers in the city. Very generous portion of pork buns, which my dining companion thoroughly enjoyed. And two drinks, two apps, and a burger came out to about $ 5 each, including tax & tip(not too shabby in this area). If in the area, and you like that more lively scene, I’d recommend them for late night. If seeing a show, I have a hunch this would be a great pre-show option. Next time I’m back in the area, I’d consider them for dining. But I really can’t give more than three stars with all those first time hiccups, even with the potential at hand.

I came here with a meat head gym rat that wouldn’t stop talking/staring at our cute waitress, which was quite entertaining. I ordered the truffle fries and mushroom truffle pasta and he ordered the burger. He devoured that burger in a few minutes when I was still working on the fries. Again, the truffle fries had shredded cheese on top, which is awesome but I did not taste any truffle at all. The fries were crispy though and I ate more than I should have. The pasta was very buttery and not what I hoped for. The texture of the pasta was harder than what I wanted it to be. This pasta dish reminded me of a «just add water» packaged pasta. Customer service was great though!

«I really want to come back» This was the last stop on a happy hour bar crawl, so I cannot remember in much details about the place. But, I do remember that the bartender/mixologist, whose name I forget but I was working on a friday night, was AMAZING. His drinks were made perfectly and he was a great people’s person. Many times, I find that quite a few bartenders, who work at places like this, can be a snotty. Maybe, I will have a better review if I come back to this place.
