I came here after hours for a cousin birthday gathering. I thought it would be a restaurant feel but i guess after hours it’s a small little lounge to hang out with friends. DJ plays a mixture of music everyone can enjoy. I didn’t eat to know how the food taste. There was a lot of people. Everyone seen to be enjoying.

Went there on a Sunday for an event which the restaurant was completely unprepared for. Service was terrible, waiters were inattentive. And it took 2 hours for two burgers to come. The table next to us waited one hour on their check. Food came out cold and manager was nowhere to be found. Shitty service. Terrible drinks. Don’t recommend going there.

Lapin and I came here for dinner one night when our other dinner plans didn’t pan out. We were able to make last minute reservation and didn’t wait long to be seated. There weren’t many people there when we went and most of the people were at the bar. Which was nice because Lapin and I got a lounge area to ourselves. Our waitress was a nice in the beginning and slowly became a horrible experience to deal with. At first she came in to check in with us after we place our order(don’t come here if you are short on time because they took almost 30 minutes for us to get someone to take our order) after that, she was no where to be found — getting the check was a 45 minute ordeal. We ordered Chicken Tinga Quesadilla($ 14), which was okay. It had a bit of weird taste and was a bit soggy by the time it got to us. Lapin got the Tuna on Crack($ 16) which he enjoyed. We shared an order of Guacamole($ 10) which was okay, our favorite so far has been at Rocco’s Tacos. And we got one order of Chicken Tacos($ 9) and one pulled Pork Tacos($ 9), which were enjoyable but were soggy and the tortillas broke apart very easily. I feel though, for $ 9 for two tacos was a bit on the high end especially since it didn’t come with anything else. I also ordered the Jumbo Lump Crabcakes($ 14), which were okay. Lapin ordered a Mexican beer off the Happy Hour special. I can’t recall the name but he wasn’t very fond of it. The waitress came around and asked if he wanted another order of the beer before the Happy Hour special was over, he thought since it was only $ 4, «Why not». Well, it turns out, that«Why Not» cost us a lot more than just $ 4. The waitress didn’t put in the order until much later after the Happy Hour was over but she didn’t mention when she bought the beer over. When we got the check, we saw we were charged full priced for both beers because she said we missed the Happy Hour special. If that was the case, why didn’t you tell us that there was a special and shouldn’t you as our waitress who wants a good tip come over and check with us if we still want the beer at a different price point that previously agreed on? When we mentioned it, she said there was nothing she could do and that it wasn’t her fault(and this is why you only got a 16% tip — which in IMO we were being generous). Lapin enjoyed his food and I agree some dishes were better than others. But NYC has tons of other restaurants with better service than here so we will be in no rush to return.

Great drinks and apps but the service is absolutely horrible. The waitress took over a half hour to get out drinks. Only come here if you have tons of time

Honestly, I never even considered having a Mexican style brunch. Give me chicken & waffles or perhaps eggs over easy with some home fries and a side of bacon and I’m good. Well, I was pleasantly surprised at Teqa! First of all, the place is beautiful and very Chic. The style and layout gives Teqa a very sophisticated feel that won’t soon be forgotten. In fact, I started peppering my affable waiter with lots of questions about the possibilities of throwing a grown and sexy party. It’s just that kind of place where one can see themselves having a large brunch party or some type of celebratory function. Now back to the food, I was most impressed and so was my friend who accompanied me on this particular brunch outing. As I mentioned before, I never imagined having a Mexican style burch but given the Groupon, I could t resist. I can’t recall what I had but it was so dam good and the 1 – 2 hr free flowing drinks,(sangria was the bomb) the brunch was amazing. I would recommend Teqa for brunch in a minute. Don’t sleep on the Mexican style brunch. It was everything and then some.

Went for brunch with a groupon. For $ 30, I got 3 mimosas and my entrée of choice. Got the avocado salad and my friend got steak and eggs. Both of our meals were delicious. My dressing was really spot on and homemade. However, TERRIBLE service. We waited for someone to come to our table after we were sat for at least 20 minutes, and the place was empty…

I REALLY hate to leave a negative review about this because I have been around 5 times and while the food and atmosphere is really amazing, the service is SOOOOO bad. I have been both when its busy and when its absolutely dead, and the service remains the same at anytime– agonizingly slow. The waiters are very friendly, but take forever to check on you and are so unaware and inattentive. Ive also ordered delivery from here(I live about 10 blocks away) and after an hour and a half of being sent a confirmation, I was unable to reach them on the phone and never got my meal! I had to be refunded by grub hub. If they could just fix their service tragedy, this would be one of my favorite restaurants.

I’ll start off by saying that I have been to Teqa twice, once for just drinks and the other time for brunch using a Groupon. My friends and I also made a reservation for a brunch earlier this year. We showed up to the restaurant at noon, well after restaurant opening and just in time for our reservation for 12. A distraught waitress was outside and said that the manager was not answering his phone. Because of this, they lost the business for a 12 person party. Now for the two times that I did go. Once was just for drinks which was fine. Teqa has a nice atmosphere and reasonable drinks/prices. Now brunch was an entire different story. The service was atrocious and the food was completely bland. Our server tried to ignore us to avoid giving us drinks. The groupon is a complete waste of money — you can get a much better bottomless brunch for the same price. This place needs a management change and service upgrade.

Complaint #1: This place rips off its Groupon customers. The food wasn’t bad, and it still gets 1 star. Just think about that for a moment. I came here with a Groupon: unlimited cocktails for 1 hour and brunch for 4 people for $ 70, listed as a $ 300 value. Well, that seemed like an inflated estimate, but when I came with a crowd(I should’ve known better when they took a reservation for Saturday brunch the morning of), those that didn’t have the Groupon got essentially the same offer for $ 25. Technically they got 3 cocktails instead of unlimited, but our waitress was MIA the whole time(literally we were the only other people in the restaurant), so we all got 2 cocktails(and not for a lack of trying, I always make the most of brunch!) When it comes time to pay with our Groupon, they charge tax and gratuity(standard), but they charged us based on the $ 300 over-inflated value of a meal for 4 people. Based off what it actually cost, the Groupon customers were forced into paying a 60% gratuity on the VALUE of the meal! SIXTYPERCENT! So the quartos leches tasted like a stale refrigerator, so the prices they charged us didn’t match the menus, sucks, but it happens, and usually you fix it. But they didn’t even have a manager on(who doesn’t have a manager working weekend brunch in NYC?!), so it took them 45 minutes to figure out the bill. While our nonexistent mimosa buzzes just mocked us. And they weren’t understaffed. I saw easily 4 – 5 staff at the front of the house, and again, it was JUST us. This place is just a mess, save yourselves the headaches.

Been to teqa for margaritas before it was great go during slow hours… but brunch just don’t do it… my best buddy came back from New Zealand today and we were so excited to hang today… sat for half an hour before we started flagging waiters down which we never do because seriously? so disrespectful. We gave up got up to leave and finally got some attention! Everyone made sure to say«goodbye» «have a nice day»… Ridiculous… teqa you owe me a huevos rancheros!

If you want a great brunch deal for the weekend, purchase the Groupon deal. It’s $ 35 for brunch for 2 with endless mimosas, bloody Maria’s or sangria. Their food is so delicious! I get the omelette every time and it’s always better than the last time I remember it! Also they have 50% off menu happy hour deals from 5 – 7(I think) during week. Definitely try the passion fruit margarita if you are here. In the summer they have outdoor seating.

Good deal on groupon, beware the brunch menu online is not current and they don’t allow steak for brunch. Had to ask the waitress for management to allow it for a 4 dollar fee. No big deal since a lot of groupon places charge extra for some things but at first it was refused. Also they charge 18% gratitude even if the service is mediocre. Drinks are good, service is nice but not to quick. Got entrée before appetizer. All of the food was great and the seating is so cute. Had a couch next to the windows :) would come back

I liked it. I came here with a couple of friends after work before a movie. It was quiet on a monday evening. The staff was nice and accommodating as our table slowly grew from 4 to 6. Margarita was good, but not great and it was small. The corn side dish was good and my carne asada soft taco was good as well. A friend ordered the guinness braised short rib taco and they were tasty as well. Another friend had the ghetto taco, which were crunchy and looked good. The portion sizes were small. For appetizers we had the salsa trio and chips and guac. Both were good. The atmosphere was nice.

Just came here for a brunch on a Groupon, and i’m NEVER coming back. Groupon could give it to me for free, and the cost of the subway would probably be too much. Not sure where to even start. Sour tasting Guacamole? Check. There’s absolutely no way that it was made that same day. I’d actually question if it was even made the day before. But that was actually the highlight of the meal somehow. My Huevos Ranchero’s had this absolutely disgusting ‘Crema’ on it that I could not stomach after 1 bite. My friend’s Mahi Mahi sandwich was certainly ‘battered’ — though by looks of it with a rolling pin instead of beer. It also had this mysterious ‘crema’ on it. We ordered some sweet chili fries just to have something to eat while drinking our bottomless mimosas(which apparently the waiter took great issue with us asking for refills). We didn’t even bother complain to the manager about the food. Given how stingy the waiter was with the refills, i doubt i’d get anywhere to begin with. Do us all a favor and just close this place down please and replace it with anything. Even another duane reade would be fine with me.

What the heck happened here? Used to love brunching at this joint, but they lost it. Where to start? Well, the bottomless mimosas are the main reason to come to this place, and yet they were out of Champagne. Interesting as there are numerous liquor stores in midtown, Manhattan. They could’ve just ran out and picked up some more, but that would be too much work. So, we had to settle for Sangria, which was questionable at best. The first glass had a few fruit slices but after that, nothing. The place was freezing… I wore my down jacket the whole time and I noticed several men wearing their hats during brunch. Wouldn’t they get the hint by the extra layers of clothing everyone was wearing? They were out of the burger, which my friend really wanted and yet they wouldn’t make any substitutions for entrees. Weird how the tacos are actually $ 5 less than the burger and yet they wouldn’t take any substitutions. Really would love this place to get back to what I used to be. The ambiance is awesome and it has so much potential, but they gotta get their act together. Oh yeah, and the food is soooooo bland. Seriously.

Although it is probably the most authentic huevos rancheros I have had since in a very long time, and the next best thing to a Mexican breakfast, it still didn’t dazzle me enough. It lacked something, and I am not sure what. Maybe some spices or sauces? I sound so pretentious, but I am not. I swear! I just know really good Mexican food because I was born and raised in CA, and Californians know a thing or two about authentic Mexican food. Just saying, y’all(: Anyway, this is definitely an upscale, modern restaurant, however, after viewing their brunch menu, it was totally affordable. How is this possible in Midtown? Say what?! Our meal came out to be $ 50(?) only due to the beverages we had: sangria and mimosas, but entrees were ranging from 11 – 15 per dish, so to me that is affordable. Service: polite and checked in frequently, which was nice and welcoming. To my surprise. I haven’t encountered peppy folks when dining in New York, so this was refreshing. Definitely worth checking out. At least for the décor. I cannot get over how cute this place is!

Went back for a visit during a business trip a few weeks ago to see if it was still good. It wasn’t. Same old Murray hill shenanigans. They really should move somewhere more trendy like the LES, I think it would help their credibility and attract a better crowd. Service was mediocre. I think our girl was coked out. Food was disappointing, I remember so many great things on the menu and now it’s just boring and the quality seemed to be lacking. To their defense, drinks were strong and good. Overall a big let down, What a shame.

I have been here twice and had two very different experiences, but both times the place was nearly empty. Long story short: Go for drinks and do NOT go for food. The longer story: The first time was here was with a large group of friends for brunch. The drinks were flowing and the waitress was really fun. We enjoyed the food, but I think this may have been as a result of the drinks that kept coming… The second time was a more intimate setting — I went with only 3 friends. We had a Groupon for unlimited drinks and entrees. It was a great deal. This time we were there for the food more than the drinks, and I quickly realized that this was a mistake. The food came out soggy — it was supposed to be a «hangover» nacho meal or something of the sort, but came out like a large plate of soggy chips. It also was missing several components and when we asked the server where they were he said they changed the recipe. I wish we had been told that before we ordered it because we wouldn’t have gotten the meal if we had known it was missing half the ingredients in the description. It is sad because the place has amazing potential — great atmosphere and good concept. Hopefully they can turn things around and get a crowd back in there.

I came here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon with a friend. I didn’t know what to expect based on the negative reviews on Unilocal.I went in with a positive look and had a great time. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the burger and fries and it was very good and filling. I also had the mango margarita and it was delicious. The place wasn’t too crowded and the ambience was cool and modern. We sat by the window and was able to eat, drink, chat and people watch. We weren’t rushed and it was a good dining experience.. I work in the nabe and always walk by this spot so it was good to finally try it and actually enjoy it. I will definitely return.

I recently came here with a friend and used a groupon deal for brunch and was pleasantly pleased. I honestly expected the worst based on the previous reviews but the service was actually great and they did not treat us differently because we had a GROUPON! LOL We were seated by the window in a cozy corner and were allowed to take our time ordering. For drinks I had a mojito and the Teqa Iced tea while my friend had a mango margarita. I loved both of my drinks and was disappointed that I could not tolerate another. For our meal i had the steak with eggs while my friend had their burger and we both thought the food was delicious! This was a great spot for brunch but if driving –parking is not the greatest and the area is very busy. Id definitely return to Teqa in the future-yum!
