The bubble tea here is decent for the area, but definitely not the best. It’s on the relatively expensive side if you order the smaller sizes(over $ 4 if you add a topping). The customer service leaves a bit to be desired, but on the upside, there’s free wifi.

Five stars for the hot bubble tea with chocolate flavor… Basically a hot chocolate with tapioca bubbles. Perfect for walking around in the chilly weather.

This is a place you would go if you lived around the area and didn’t want to travel to k-town or china-town for better boba. The drinks are average– they are standard drinks for pearl milk tea cafes. I like to come here when I am craving boba drinks I spoke to the owner(or maybe manager?) once and he is very helpful and nice. However, the other times I’ve been here, service hasn’t been great from the other workers. One time, I bought a $ 5 drink and gave the cashier a $ 20. She handed me $ 5 as change and I had to explain to her that 20 minus 5 is 15, in which she looked at me like I was a crazy and I had to repeat myself two more time before she handed me the right amount of change. I still go to this place for drinks maybe once a month but I have to remind myself to not expect too much from the people working there.

Bad experience. Ordered black milk tea, it tastes like they forgot to add the sugar. There is also no taste of milk. The cashier is talking with each other and I have to wait three minutes until they finish their talk.

If this is the only place near me to buy bubble tea then I am screwed. The«milk» tea was lighter than I’m used to, so the flavor was just odd. The tapioca tasted so atrocious I couldn’t finish eating them and that’s the whole point of the bubble tea. I like their concept, they just have to perfect their craft(seriously, I don’t want to have to travel to Chinatown for bubble tea).

This place is good for when you’re in the neighborhood and craving bubble tea, but it’s not the best out there. I’ve come a few times and have tried the taro and hazelnut bubble teas. The taro was a bit disappointing– it had a weird, gritty texture I couldn’t quite get past. The hazelnut was much better. Order that one! The shop itself is snug and usually full of Columbia kids unwinding after class. It can get a little rowdy and disorganized but it’s never unbearable. Overall, a cute spot for boba when ya need it!

Let me start off by saying that, with a lack of other nearby options, this place will suffice. It may not be the greatest boba I’ve ever had, but it works. They have a variety of options available. You can get yours made with milk tea, black tea or green tea, or as a slushie(for those who are lactose intolerant). They have a $ 5 minimum for credit cards and a frequent buyer/reward card. There is also this awkward area to stand around and wait for your drinks.

Terrible service. Also dishonest service. They advertised their frozen yogurt so I went in with my husband. I asked if they have tart as a flavor. The gentleman behind the counter says, «Yes, strawberry is tart.» I ask the standard, «May I please have a taste to see if that’s the flavor I want?» He says, «We don’t do that,» and walks away. Okay, fair enough. I wait for him to come back and I say, «Okay, well, if strawberry is tart, I will have that, please.» He gives me a strange look and charges me $ 4 for the yogurt. «Is it actually tart?» I ask, since he gave me that look. He walks away, dispenses the yogurt, hands it to me, I take it and taste it as a I start to walk out. It was sweet, powdery, and tasted like chemicals. Anyway, it wasn’t tart. Way to lie to me just to get my four bucks. This city is full of too much competition for anyone to treat customers that way, even over something as silly as yogurt.

*This review is for their Flushing location that’s by the Main Street entrance of New World Mall* I was really looking forward to trying their Blueberry Black Tea, but unfortunately this location doesn’t sell it. I got the large passionfruit green tea and it was 32 oz of deliciousness! I didn’t ask for any toppings, but I some bits of fruit jelly at the bottom. I’m not sure what it was, but it was good. It definitely enough to share or fill you up if you’re not in the mood to eat. I’ll definitely be back to try their milk teas.

Life uptown would be a little miserable if Tea Magic had not existed. This place has been my go-to spot whenever I crave boba. There’s a wide selection of milk tea and other specialty drinks to choose from. My favorite is the Yogurt Green Tea with boba, which basically tastes like a cup of Yakult(delicious!). The consistency of the boba is pretty good, always chewy and fresh. For regulars, they have a stamp reward card system(Buy 10 get $ 3 off your 11th cup). Service is speedy and there are a few tables for customers who want to have their drinks at the store. Their sizing is interesting in that their large is HUGE and their small is the size of a regular cup of boba. I made the mistake of ordering their large once and almost had a boba-overdose. In summary: — One of the best spots for boba uptown — Get the stamp card if you’re a regular! — $ 5 minimum for credit card

Frozen yogurt was bit too sour for me. Iced coffee was also bit sour, maybe it was not that fresh. But the price was reasonable, and clean store.

Their bubble tea has a variety of flavors and is extremely delicious. While being on the(ridiculously) pricier side compared to other places nearby to get tea, I truly enjoyed the food I had here. The service is fast, but the staff could be friendlier.

One word: boba. The boba here is a pretty safe bet. I have yet to try the large size, but it’s an extra wide cup so that’s good. I consider myself a pretty competent person, but I have trouble punching the straw through the plastic sometimes. This isn’t a criticism of Tea Magic, but I want to warn you in advance. The place usually isn’t packed, and has a fairly pleasant atmosphere. However, it’s small and the acoustics aren’t the best. They do play an eclectic mix of old pop music that may give you some nostalgia. I’m typing this review using wifi they provide(ask for the wifi password). If you are looking for a regular boba spot, this one has punch cards here: after 10 drinks you get a free small one.

Cons (-) Crazy expensive unless you’re going for the 32oz. A small flavored bubble tea with tapioca pearls should not be over $ 5. (-) Bubbles were smaller than I’m used to, more like the«mini» bobas I tried once. (-) Very small space, awkward to maneuver when waiting for drink. Pros: (+) Good selection of flavors. (+) 32oz option… if you’re into that.

I’m from the Bay Area. I am a self-proclaimed pearl milk tea nut. I like my tea strong, and I do not like it too sweet. I’m very particular about my tea and boba. That being said, this place is alright. 2.5−3 stars, I’d say. They do have a giant thing for large, though. Anyway, I got a regular pearl milk tea, with half sugar and half ice. The tea is alright… boba is not too bad. It wasn’t too sweet and I didn’t have so much ice but that’s only because I asked for it. So, get half sugar unless you want some super sugary tea solution. If you want real boba, go to Gong Cha.

Pros: (+) The Large is massive(32 ounces) — can serve for 2 people (+) They sell pork buns Cons: (-) Slow at times (-) Line situation is awkward when it’s busy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The thing that I like about this place is that they sell the large in a 32 ounce which you can share with someone. I also like that they sell pork buns which I like to enjoy along with my bubble tea. The seating is a bit awkward when it’s busy. Since it’s a narrow place, the line situation gets a bit awkward between the order and pickup line and waiting for your order.

I would love to love Tea Magic, but yeah… This place could do sooo much better. Yes, a rare sighting to see in UWS a bubble tea place. And it’s off the 1. I’m not complaining but the service and quality ugh. I read the reviews before coming so I had an expectation of service and yeah. They seemed very cold. It felt like I could not ask, «What’s your favorite drink? What do you like?» Maybe I caught them off their off days. Once. Twice. Thrice. And yes the infamous large is HUGE. My friend accidentally ordered a large and it came out to like $ 6 with bubbles. Everyone coming into the store would stare at her drink and whisper«omg that’s a large.» Try it if you dare. Personally, I just can’t do that. If it was better quality tapioca then maybe, but it was just basic. I got a medium lychee green tea with tapioca and yeah eh it wasn’t that great. I’d rather travel farther down and pay for better quality bubble tea at Vivi’s or Coco’s or Kung fus.

So much fun! Don’t expect any nutritional value to what you purchase. However, the dried teas don’t have any added ingredients and the flower based ones in particular(I know, I know) are particularly superb. The bubble tea(boba) is actually pretty great. Sometimes they have little bean cakes and such which are also quite amazing. 4 tables to seat up to 3 comfortably on each, a great window perch seat if you can get it!

UPDATED review: At first I wasn’t much of a fan of their bubble tea. And if you’ve only tried their Thai Milk Tea, then it’s no wonder why you have that opinion of them. With that said, they’ve actually gotten better recently– the pearls have gotten softer(I think they stopped overcooking it??) and I’ve tried other teas and have been super pleased. The ones I remembered being particularly good were the french vanilla and hazelnut; in fact, the hazelnut is my default now because it’s so, so good.
