I love this place. All of these negative reviews are ridiculous. These people are hating, and want caviar for pennies. My bf and I regular this place. The staff– sure they are slightly serious at times, but very professional. Always attentive, and honestly, really friendly. The lady at the front counter always has a smile, and the waiter is a nice guy, just talk to him. Honestly, we see the same staff here 7 days a week. Give them a break, that’s some hard work and dedication. Sure, the place isn’t that appealing to the eye, and a tad dark, but the portions of food these serve are massive, and very inexpensive. So what are you complaining about? The food is always good, hot, and fresh. I freaking love this place. Check out the orange chicken, OMGG so good. Super crispy and tasty.

Food is OK but prices on Unilocal are not even close to what they really charge. I expected to pay 19 and ended up paying $ 28. Watch out!

Service was fast. Easily got a table at 12:45 on a Saturday. I ordered hot and sour soup, and General Tsao’s chicken. The chicken was served with two mounds of rice. The food was thickly fried. The sauce flavor and the soup were good.

I pickup take out from here every few weeks or so. I like their roast pork wonton soup — it’s too salty — but full of tasty wontons and the roast park infuses the soup with a great flavor. The secret to many restaurants in NYC such as this one is don’t use the bathroom. Also, I have tried other food — it runs from okay to too as in too much cornstarch too much sugar and too many questions. Still for the basics it is okay — just don’t think too much about it and limit your expectations.

Tang’s is excellent. It’s the neighborhood Chinese restaurant. So take a step back if you don’t visit this place frequently before you make up your mind. The staff are lovely too. Some of our favorites: Cold Sesame Noodles(if you want them warm they’re the Tang Tang Noodles), 10 ingredient fried rice, Lemon chicken, any and all of their dumplings. Crispy tangy beef, the shanghai soups. The menu is cute too when you really take the time to read it. It has subtle suggestions. They have been there for a long time and there is a reason.

Tang’s Garden — 3&½ Stars The Good, Tang Tang Noodles are another rendition of cold sesame noodles, they’re pretty decent, actually kind of addictively delicious, just not a part of a well balanced meal on their own. My only issue, they cost as much as a lunch special, Hot & Sour Soup, is it the epitome of the dish? No. But it is both Hot & Sour, so it’s OK.(Some places seem to make it black pepper hot, but forget to add the rice wine vinegar.) The Service. It’s courteous and attentive.(Again I’m reading these reviews where people seem to expect that when they sit down for their $ 7.95 lunch special, service should be on par with«Daniel.» It’s a reasonably priced Chinese Hole in the Wall, do you really need to be coddled by subservient wait staff? Most people I see eating here don’t even appear to leave a tip.) Tang’s Garden does a really busy lunch, and offers something like 40 lunch specials(What we used to call combination plates) and is usually crowded with the staff from Lenox Hill Hospital around the corner. My big problem, all of their szechuan style food kind of tastes the same, not bad, just the same.(Guess I have to try some other dishes.) Again it’s CHEAP! So really how much can anyone complain about a place that gives you a table to sit at, a big plate of food, and choice of soda or soup for lunch, for $ 6.85 to $ 8.50?

Today has been a day from hell. And hoping it would get better I decided to treat myself to lunch. Let’s just say my appetite is ruined for the day. Some people may call it an exaggeration but I think finding someone else’s hair in your food is absolutely disgusting. I ordered two egg rolls for lunch and as I’m enjoying the first one almost down to about 4 more bites there’s a long black strand of hair in the roll actually intwined the veggies. I’m completely disgusted. I go back to complain they ask me if I want another one. Ummm no I think not. I want my money back. He offers me a credit. A credit to be used when I order something again. Why would I there’s hair in my egg roll my trust has been shaken with this place. Please pay attention to your food.

When you first walk into a restaurant, what do you want to smell? The aroma of the restaurant’s food of course! However, that is not the case with Tang’s Garden. I have eaten here a couple of times for a quick lunch and almost every time I enter the restaurant, the smell is nauseating. It seems like a mix of some cleaning solution and a dirty mop. Would you still want to eat with that smell wafting through the air? The place is also very dingy looking, the plates, utensils, and napkins aren’t the cleanest either. Service is VERY casual. They can be pretty rude sometimes. The female servers are very nice, but the male servers have that«what do you want?!» attitude when taking your order and they do not have the friendliest look on their face either. It felt like they just wanted to get everything over with and get us out of there before we even started ordering. The food is better than the service, but nothing spectacular. I have only eaten general tso’s chicken and sesame chicken here and the chicken tends to be slightly overcooked. There are also flies flying around as you eat, which is pretty annoying. I want to focus on enjoying my food when I’m eating at a restaurant, not have to swat around after every bite! Overall, not your best bet if you want to eat around this neighborhood. Ambiance is no good, service is no good, décor is no good, and the food is meh. Take your money elsewhere. There are plenty of better restaurants around. I don’t even understand how this place is still here considering the type of service they provide and the type of clientele in this neighborhood.

Food is decent but the service is HORRIBLE. The gentlemen in the picture I took made it seem like I was asking for a million dollars as opposed to asking what was on the dessert menu. He said unnecessarily loudly«no dessert!» «No ice cream only cookie!» He also dropped the check off when I was on the 2nd bite of my meal. On top of the fact it was SLOW at about 3:45pm when I arrived. So being busy was not the case! Customer service was horrible by this gentlemen. He spoke in Chinese to the couple that came in after me and was exceedingly friendly to them. Last place on earth to eat I am becoming either a cannibal or a vegan. Never will I return to be treated like this.

I randomly decided to try this place one day, despite it’s «drab interior» as another review put it. The food is typically pretty good I’d say. I think it has it’s on days and off days, so that might explain some of the bad reviews. I’ve had delicious food here(dumplings, chicken and brocolli) and other times I’ve ordered the wrong thing on the wrong day. If you’re getting takeout I’d recommend. If you’re going to eat in, I’d keep it simple and you’ll likely have a good meal. I’ve eaten in more than once and I actually sort of enjoy the simple ambiance they provide. And also, it sort of seems like it isn’t very clean inside, but I have never noticed any dirt or grime or anything, I’d say it’s fairly clean.

The lunch sets were really cheap! They give a good sized portion. I was actually only able to eat half of it, saved it for dinner! I paid 6.25

I went into Tang’d Garden today and was truly repulsed. I have ate from Tang’s multiple times, their food tasted good and I enjoyed it. But one time I had and extreme stomach ache, and I even threw up… But I ate there once again and didn’t have that problem, but today I entered the«restaurant» and was truly repulsed by a smell that was unbearable. It smelt atrocious, literally like the inside of a sewer. It even smelt like that from the outside it was that strong, and abundant. I am truly repulsed to know that, that smell was in the restaurant, mind you we don’t even know how the kitchen may smell. Also the place just looks over all dirty and dingy, wouldn’t recommend it!

This place was pretty busy during lunch time! I got the beef chow fun which they really packed into my to go box(I had noodles for lunch and dinner, haha). I liked the meat but the noodles were just standard. They give you a big portion and are nice workers, though!

First off, the service is really great. I brought my one year old daughter and she had a blast eating and talking(baby language) to our waitress. I tried the famous cold noodles with sesame sauce. Fantastic! But it does have a hit of peanut sauce in, I think so if you allergic to nuts ask before ordering. I also got the roasted chicken wings with honey and they taste great. The steam shrimp dumplings AWESOME! The place was redone from when I last came it was Tang Tang Noodles. But it’s nice and small and friendly.

I asked my husband where he wanted to go for dinner on his birthday and he chose Tang’s Garden, where he’d eaten before. I was in the mood for good Chinese – its been a while since I’d had Chinese given my last experience( ). The restaurant is a nice size – not cavernous or tiny. It reminded me of a typical NYC Chinese restaurant you’d see in movie – lanterns hanging, lots of tables and chairs, and lighting with a blue cast. We were offered a seat wherever we wanted — and chose the corner by the window. I don’t recommend it as the chilly breeze could be felt as I sat on a booth’s seat with a broken spring which made me sit lower to the ground. I always order the same dish — broccoli and string beans in a brown sauce. And Tang’s was not oily and pretty good, so good in fact, I was thinking about it the next day.
FYI: Coke products in cans served The only drawback is the restroom which had a very strong unpleasant odor.
