Dim sum on the UES? Heck ya! For those days when I don’t feel like hopping on a subway downtown or to Flushing. :)

The delivery service was prompt and the food plentiful, however this didn’t make up for the poor quality of the cuisine. My daughter ordered Mushu Pork and sweetish beef dish and both were just awful and we ended up tasting and throwing the food out. Wonder where all the positive reviews come from both on Unilocal and Zagat? Perhaps plenty of friends…

Avoid. A waste of money. Pork was tough and inedible. Chicken was covered in a greasy coat. Vegetable was cold and dumped into dish cold. There are better Chinese restaurants. How do they. Stay in business.

Has been my favorite Chinese food in the city for over a decade. My favorite dishes are the grand Mariner Prawns and Crispy Beef. Food is quickly delivered if you do delivery and cooked very quickly if dinning in. I can’t eat anywhere else when craving Chinese. The décor and owners have evolved a few time over the years but the quality has remained the same since before they relocated to this location.

Ordered food for delivery. This used to be a great place. What happened? what I got was soggy over breaded chicken that was a little under cooked. Slimy and cheap tasting. Made me Sick.

If I could give Our Place 0 stars, I would. We have ordered from this place before and have had no issues until tonight. We ordered baked prawns with garlic and fragrant scallions and received deep-fried shrimp. My wife spent 30 minutes on the phone with incredibly rude staff at Our Place who insulted my wife’s intelligence by questioning her ability to judge what«baked» meant and had the gall to suggest that it’s her fundamental lack of understanding of Chinese cuisine that led to our dissatisfaction, rather than an erroneous description on their menu. Dear Our Place: we live across the street and will never order from your restaurant again. Thanks for nothing.

No, n o, NO! How is it possible that with Chinese buying $ 90MILLION apartments in Manhattan there are no more good Chinese restaurants on that island?! This one is particularly horrible. We ordered in and had to call back after 40 mins to find out where our dinner was… But then what arrived was not worth the wait! Cold sesame noodles came with noodles, 3 cucumber sticks(?!) and a tub of oily paste of what? It wasn’t sesame, wasn’t peanut, was thick but had no flavor at all. Pork steamed dumplings were dense and flavor-free. The egg roll was picture perfect but flavor-free. Moo shu chicken was a beige mass of flavor-free something or other, that was greasy to boot and the pancakes were so thick they were hard to wrap around that beige mass. Beef with snowpeas was a gray mass of flavor-free something. From beige to gray was at least a change of palette — color palette that is. Seriously, those green things that LOOKED like snowpeas tasted like counter cleaner. Don’t even want to write what happened afterwards… but THAT wasn’t flavor-free. What is going on here? It’s simple: AVOIDATALLCOSTS. Shameful!

Rude and disrespectful staff ruin what would otherwise be a good restaurant. It’s a shame when there is not many options for sit down Cantonese food in the area. Now I understand why more people where getting take away than eating in. As for the food. It’s good, especially the steamed dishes. Fried food was a bit over oily when it came out and could have done with being patted down with a paper towel.

Dropped in quality from ok to absolutely disgusting. Overly fat, overly salty pseudo Chinese food.

Very good American Chinese food, wonderful service. We picked up our order but the dining room is very nice and would be great for family or a date. My son requested Chinese, and I found this restaurant on Unilocal. The ambiance: Nice, clean classy dining room. Single roses add a little romantic warmth and white linen table cloths add a little formality, making this a good date spot. The service: Very friendly, and food prep time for a pick up order was quick. The owner or manager and hostess were also very friendly to both my son and I when we arrived to pick up our order. They made my picky son happy with their steamed chicken and broccoli with rice, brown sauce on the side — his fave dish at a Chinese restaurant. The broccoli and chicken were steamed well, and the brown sauce was tasty. Spring roll was great, my son enjoyed that too. And I really liked the chicken dumplings which they recommended. I will definitely go back to dine there and also for takeout /delivery.

Our Place is a pretty good Chinese place on the UES. I like the lobster special(I think they still have it) and while it’s a little pricey, it’s not totally out of line for the area. The service is great; it’s very clean; and the food is good. It’s Chinese-American cuisine so don’t expect anything you haven’t seen before at a Chinese place. It’s not like going to a dim-sum place on Mott Street but it definitely satisfies your craving for good Chinese food. It’s second to Nancy Lee’s Pig Heaven but still very good.

I had a terrible experience. The waiter was rude right from the start and overall the service was terrible. The food was bland and uninspired. Everything had the taste and texture of being frozen and was just microwaved prior to being served. I felt like they were taking lots of shortcuts and chose saving money over quality. I will never return again. I would never recommend this place to anyone I know.

Being that this is the Upper East Side, I’m not surprised that there are so many high ratings. After all, this area is not known for Fine dining. And in the end, this restaurant is a local Chinese food place. In fact, I would bet they deliver a good 70% of the food coming out of the kitchen. Yet despite that, the décor is classy with nice tablecloth and settings on the well placed tables, and the staff is present and gracious. The only drawback I noticed was the wine and beer list, which is very pedestrian with big brands representing the entirety. Granted, I only ate one lunch here, but the General’s chicken(what else do you have on one visit?) Was crispy, slightly spicy and delicious, the fried rice well made and the egg roll, good(not that I’m a connoisseur). Very good food, service and ambience, and if it had more imagination in dishes and beverages, I’d give it 5 stars.

A Restaurant in every sense of the word, this is a very nice place, with excellent food and service. If you want to eat Chinese food outside of your apartment, this is the place to go.

The food and service was outstanding. Every dish seemed fresh and well prepared. While we waited for takeout, the staff brought us some hot tea and offered a table to sit at. We had a large order and a number of special requests and every item was correct. The food was well packed and still nice and hot when we opened it. It is still somewhat standard Americanized Chinese food, but it tasted great. The dining room looks decent and was quiet, although we did not dine in.

I order from China Chalet at least once a week but usually around two or three times because they just have the best Chinese food and they are just a few blocks down the street. This place is extremely satisfying. Great food and great prices!

I love Peking duck so I had to check this restaurant out because it’s speciality is Peking duck. So I went with my family and ordered a lot of food. Soups, dim sums, fried rice and the obvious Peking duck. One dish that caught my attention was the prawn and bacon wrap. It was spectacular. The Peking duck was not so great but I will surely visit this place for the fried rice and dim sums

This place is great, and apparently way underrated. Was in NYC for a bit and got take out here several times in a week. Delicious food and nice staff/owner. Can’t wait to come back when I’m in NYC.

Fabulous Chinese Food and the owner makes you feel right at home. The prices are great for NYC and they don’t rush you to finish your food. They welcome kids and families and I am very happy to have this restaurant in our neighborhood.
