The atmosphere is nice and the staff were attentive, but that’s about it. Stopped by here for lunch and ordered Chirashi. Really disappointed. Except for salmon roe which was the only good thing, every fish was not tasty, rather tasteless. Absolutely mediocre. I would expect more for the price(over $ 40 incl. tax and tips).

The portion of all the appetizer is small。Some sushi tastes so good but others do not。

The food here is pretty good and the staff quite attentive. It was nice to see the large number of Japanese patrons. Everyone in our party liked their dishes and the chicken teriyaki was nice and tender. You can tell that it was made fresh and not re-heated.

Consistently excellent sushi! Each time I go there I get the Chirashi and never once has the divine taste deviated from high quality. The people serving are efficient, overwhelmingly polite and gracious.

I been coming here for the past 20 years or so. One of the best traditional sushi restaurant in NYC. Appetizer is good, beer is good and sushi is excellent. One time I had Nama-Ikura(Fresh Salmon Roe) it was the best sushi piece I ever had in any where including Japan. Price is bit too high and non-sushi chef staff is nice but not friendly. Sushi counter is highly recommended, table sushi is just OK.

Came here by accident with my family and we are in love. Service was great. Restaurant was clean. And the food was very fresh. I recommend the tofu salad, teriyaki chicken, miso soup, and California rolls.

This review is based on two experiences: 1.) I had dinner with a friend and enjoyed my food, but my friend had more difficulty. My friend(who is gluten intolerant) asked the waiter a few questions about the menu which he was unable to answer. She decided on a menu item that required a 30 preparation and requested it be served without the sauce and the waiter told her that would be fine. When our food was brought out, her dish came with sauce and a new version would take another 30 minutes to be prepared. She was placed in the uncomfortable position of choosing another item on the menu that was prepared while my food had already arrived. 2.) I came to meet a friend for lunch on a rainy day. I arrived before she did and was told by the hostesses I would need to wait to be seated. Midway through the lunch hour, there were only about three or four tables seated and after waiting for a few minutes standing in the entryway ignored by the waitstaff, I left to meet my friend at another Japanese restaurant in the area where I was immediately sat without issue.

Very disappointed. That’s how I feel. This place is Zagat rated but most of the sushi places in Queens are better than this by leagues. Not worth the price at all. The best part of the meal were the appetizers. Drinks were alright. Sushi itself tasted cheap, stale, and not well made. This place seems more like a tourist trap than a good sushi spot.

The sushi here isn’t superb. But it is not bad at all. The lunch special is actually a good deal — $ 25 for nigiri sushi(chef’s choice of assorted sushi) and $ 28 for sushi and rolls(4 pieces of sushi and 2 rolls of your choice). Also, there are plenty of seatings and the service staff are friendly and attentive. The only truly good sushi place in my opinion within the walking distance from here is Hatsuhana, which makes Sushiden a good choice for a quick, reasonably priced sushi lunch in Midtown.

Tried Sushiden for the first time. Ordered an order for pickup over the phone. The staff was friendly and the order was ready quickly during the Midtown lunch rush. The restaurant was clean but very busy if you wanted to dine in, FYI. Definitely make a reservation if you’ll be dining during the lunch rush. The sushi was just very ok, I had two orders of the shrimp tempura roll which was just fine. I also tried the miso soup which was pretty good, standard. I felt the prices were pretty high(i.e. close to $ 5 for a small miso soup) and $ 20 for two shrimp tempura rolls. I felt the sushi at Bocca(one block away on 50th) was better and cheaper.

Bad: Been here a handful of time. I always leave standard 15−20% tip and rounding up the total bill. But the waitress was visiblely upset with our tip last time and snub/ignore us on our way out. Maybe they’re used to getting over 20% tip from corporate cliants? Nonetheless, it was not classy and we probably won’t go back. Good: Fresh sushi and decent prices for its location. I never had to wait for a table for dinner.

Amazing. The quality of the food and service are excellent. The perfect place for an office party or a family gathering. The only thing you’ll have trouble with is trying to determine which of the fabulous menu items to order. It’s all good.

Came here as the 2 more popular places across the street had long waits. Staff were very friendly as we were greeted by all, including the chefs, upon arriving and leaving. The menu is pretty standard for a sushi restaurant and is priced on the high side. We all ended up getting the sushi special for $ 25 as it seemed like the best deal. It came with a basic salad and miso soup which both came quickly and tasted OK. The sushi came and I quickly found out that every piece had wasabi in it, why would you do that? Especially when every sushi place including this one leaves a big lump of wasabi on the side of the plate so those that like it can use it and those that hate it(like me) don’t have their meal ruined and can leave it alone. It didn’t even say on the menu that this was the case or else I’d have ordered some tempura or something else. I ended up having to take of the fish, scrape off what wasabi I could and then replacing the fish and eating it but every piece still tasted of wasabi. The meal ended with a cup of scalding hot green tea that was way too hot to even touch, never mind drink so we all left, dissatisfied. I get that some people like wasabi but this place is alienating a lot of other people like me that don’t like wasabi my smearing it on all their sushi without warning. No need.

Went here on a random impromptu date with my boyfriend. I didn’t eat but I did get a glass of Merlot. My boyfriend ate, and he is finicky with his sushi which I think is a good thing. The restaurant is right off sixth, the entrance is a little Blah looking but when you go inside it is nice and clean. I was pleasantly surprised and we sat at the sushi bar. The chefs are right behind the sushi bar and everything was fresh looking, it almost made me hungry! The servers were sweet and attentive. They didn’t rush us or make me feel uncomfortable for not ordering something to eat. When my glass was empty they offered another glass of wine immediately. The only issue is they only have one type of red wine by the glass, so their drinks selection is lacking but I’m not sure people go there for the Wine. But they did have a lot of sake options! Will be coming back for the food next time but won’t order a California roll ;)

I had a business lunch here last week. The food was terrible, the sushi look and taste like it have been around for weeks if not a month. It was dried out, not tasty at all just slime. The service was even worst, stopping by every two mintues to kick us out. This place is twice the price of Aoki. AOKI has been my favor in the area. Readers, try it out and I guarantee you will agree.

I’m mournful and somber because Sushiden fell. It is dead, After being loyal customers for years and loving it. It was the worst sushi we’ve had in a long time. Abhorrent. I’ll write a letter to the manager because this was appalling. I’m sad for Sushiden, at the end all that comes up has to come down. This was the dawn of it. I’ll miss you Kenji, but with the quantity of options like Neta, my last discovery, there is no space for that taste. The fish was frozen, the salmon had a strong flavor. After menu years of devotion… RIP. Sayonara and arigatou gozaimasu.

Up end sushi restaurant, with an authentic japanese setting, wooden counters are very nice. The lighting is bright and you can obviously see how clean and neat this restaurant. The staff looks very serious. Apparently they run a tight ship here. The sushi is not as good as it was 3 years ago. The staff isnt that friendly. This is why I give it 3 stars. The food is great here, but the standards should be set higher here than most restaurants, guys… this is sushiden!

«The emperors new clothes» I requested salmon sashimi, no rice, a simple order. Sushiden was not able to accommodate my request, fine, I’ll respect that. So I ordered their combination sashimi platter. What arrived shocked me. The cuts of fish were about one inch by one inch squares, paper thin, and a few measly pieces. I wanted to call the manager and ask him how this is called a proper meal, and charge 25 dollars for it. I paid my bill and left with no plans on returning. Even if the quality of the fish was fresh, who could tell with such a tiny sampling? I felt more full from the mint I ate afterwards. If you are interested in an overpriced fancy charade to impress people and feel starved and short changed afterwards, look no further. Sushiden is a joke. no thank you.

This place is SERIOUSBUSINESS. Why? Because everyone just seems so … SERIOUS! The sushi chefs all stand attentively when they aren’t rolling and cutting your(tasty) sushi rolls. There’s no trace of a smile. Just a look of focus right down to their fancy name tags(like you see in serious joints in Japan). The waitstaff is polite. Everyone looks so pristine in their suits and kimonos. You get the friendly smile, ridiculously attentive and fast service, but not really a trace of warmness. But who gives a shit, I’m not here to date a geisha, I’m here to eat good food. On that front — this place does the job. I had an extremely tasty serving of sashmi on a bed of sushi rice(forgot the name but it was like a chiraishi), and it was awesome. Portions were tiny but the flavor was excellent. Their tuna rolls also hit the spot. The agedashi tofu was good. Salads were great. Even the somewhat scary-looking black sesame sorbet was a feast for the taste buds. Prices here aren’t cheap. It’s a place made for Japanese businessmen to unwind by looking half as robotic as they normally do. Again, it’s a very serious place. Hushed tones in the dining room, very serious looking staff and very solid food. If you’re in the mood for this kind of experience, you can’t go wrong here. It’s one of the better Japanese joints in midtown west.
