Went to Suite once and had a good time. My partner, on the other hand, was there numerous times before we even met. He always had a great time. The bartenders still remembered him! I enjoyed it. We had some nice drinks, good conversation, and even enjoyed the drag show. Will I ever go back? Likely not. It’s full of Columbia students and I have a personal rule about drinking around them. Maybe I’ll give it a try during the off season(again).

Suite is a fantastic time and a great place to come on the Upper West Side just to dance and have fun. I’ve been twice, both on Sunday nights. The first time we came, there was karaōke and an awesome drag queen show at midnight. They didn’t have either the second time we came, but it was still so much fun. Their playlist is on point. A lot of throwbacks(I Wanna Dance With Somebody, It’s Raining Men, etc.). There are couches and tables that line the left side of the bar, which are great for taking a breather in between dancing!

I went on a karaōke night, and it was dead, but worse, the people there handling the karaōke were a terrible, mean crowd and song DJ. Totally unsupportive, unkind, and mainly there for themselves. People kept leaving after singing because they were so up themselves. The bartender was fine but the drinks were overpriced.

Soo Muchh Funnn! This place has amazing music and tons of happy people wanting to dance and drink. The staff was friendly and it is pretty clean. A great club like bar on the upper west to go and just have fun!

I(used to) love Suite. Now we’re that weird couple that broke up and still have feelings for each other, but don’t know what to do with them. Pros: I’ve been going consistently every two weeks for about 6 months, and the Friday and Sat drag shows are always a crowdpleaser.(I bring all my friends who haven’t seen one, and they love it!) I usually order a few(cheap!) drinks and chat up with the bartenders. They make good cosmos and gin/tonics. The crowd is a bit varied — ranging from your boys next door to(non-DILF) dads, but I guess that’s because this is the *ONLY* gay bar in the UWS. I’m not complaining, most guys are cute. However… Cons: I went back now that it’s summer, and a lot has changed. It’s almost like the change most NYC high school girls get between their junior and senior years: you notice they’re different(it’s probably the nose), but you can’t quite put a finger on it… My go-to bartenders no longer work, and the owner now storms around with a chip on his shoulder. Obviously high on some power trip(or in a constant state of panic because he can’t keep employees), he hired a twink-y boy from Columbia who demands you order 2+ drinks immediately upon walking in. I understand that times are tough, but at least let us ladies sit down first… especially when a show is going on! We didn’t order anything, and the bartender bounced over to the owner to tell him. Subsequently, we were told to leave — all within 10 minutes of walking in! And during the queen’s performance! Who interrupts a Queen when she’s singing? I wanted to talk to the manager to understand. Within 5 minutes of our conversation, he interrupts to go turn on the next song of the performance(understandable), and then spend the entire song flicking the light switch on and off so there was some«stage effect»(not understandable). I ended up paying for my drink that I couldn’t even finish and left with my friends who were kicked out. It’s sad that this is the only bar Upper West Side gays can flock to, but I guess I’ll just have to suck up with the subpar bartenders and new management until something better comes along.

Went here for a drag show and had an amazing time, but then my coat was stolen in sub-freezing weather(26 degrees Fahrenheit). After spending about $ 100 on drinks and tip, I was just told by the grinning gentleman bartender«that sh1t’s gone», without helping me look for the coat or anything. So I left, in a t-shirt in the dead of winter to the audible sniggering of the bartender and his coterie. In the end these people gleefully reminded me that I am, exactly who I am, a fool with just enough money for too many drinks and now without enough money for a new coat. It will be a long time before I return.

Super lively fun place to go dancing and enjoy a good show. We kind of stumbled upon this place and ended up staying for a few hours. The performers were amazing, the music was great, very old school but upbeat. The drinks were at a good price. It’s a little small but definitely a fun place to check out by campus.

Check this place out on a Saturday night. It’s very old school and divey, but a good time can be had here. However, if you are looking for the drag show to start on time, good luck with that. I think the show started close to midnight with very long intermissions between acts.

I have a very bad taste in my mouth from Suite last night, and it isn’t from the glory hope I’m sure is in the bathroom. After being charged $ 40 for four totally mediocre shots of well alcohol, the saddest Boy George impersonator crushed every last hope I had for the damn place. We were four of about 7 people in the bar(and that’s a generous estimate) and he refused to play a song we requested. I mean, what? We are the only people in a gay bar, who is going to be annoyed by Lady Gaga playing by request? This place is dirty and every time I go there I leave wondering why I ever went back in the first place. The one star is for the cool dude bartender.

Went last weekend on a Saturday night with a few girlfriends, thinking the bar will be nice and packed with fun people. But that was NOT the case. We went in and it was the complete opposite of «fun people», there was about 10 people there who looked bored and the people who worked there looked like they hated their jobs. The guy checking I. D’s checked our I. D’s with his IPhone flashlight and the music wasn’t all that great(it was just someones IPhone play-list on shuffle) The drinks were watery along with a credit card minimum. After sitting down sipping on a watery drink for 15 mins while watching the Golden Girls on the T. V, the girls and I left.(It hurt my soul not to drink that drink after paying $ 13 for it but I just couldn’t drink it) With a barely touched beer and some drinks left the table, we said our goodbyes. We wouldn’t be going back to Suite.

this might be my new gay bar. unpretentious, a little divey, and live entertainment. long happy hour to like 10 or something. But after happy hour prices are TOO high. like whoa! high. I like that the crowd isn’t overly polished and the bartenders are normal looking. They keep their shirts on. Ben was my bartender, very nice. I don’t feel judged when I go in. This is not a Posh or a Therapy. Very friendly. I hate karaōke, so i left. but i will return.

Saw an amazing drag queen here once with a friend. She back-flipped in high heels and this is not an especially spacious bar. Cute bartenders without being the beefcakes you might see at Boxers. For the most part a laid back fun local gay bar, tends to attract an older crowd but is near Columbia so you get a good variety. I want to go for more of their theme nights(karaōke, etc.)

It’s worth checking out Thursday and Sunday for karaōke. Definitely need to be prepared for the atmosphere, but very welcoming establishment. I’d say stick with the mixed drinks, I have had bad experience with the tapped beer. Drinks can be over priced but the karaōke and entertainment is free. Other shows are also FABULOUS!

This place was AWESOME! Stumbled upon it thanks to Unilocal with the girls last night and it was SOOOOOO worth it. First, the midnight Drag show was awesome. I couldn’t have been more happy and excited. The Queens were JUST that: Fit, funny, and fabulous. Everyone was very chill and friendly, the drink specials weren’t too bad(especially for NYC). I liked the environment and the people present forced me to do some self-reflecton. Especially regarding ascribing sexuality to people. Over all, a very good and low key spot to visit. The only draw back was how small the space was.

This is one of very, very few bars or restaurants that I’ll genuinely miss now that I no longer live in Morningside Heights. Suite is crowded, fun, very gay, very loud, and extremely affordable. The whiskey sours were solid. My friends and I were able to pile into one of their fabulous horseshoe booths and have it all to ourselves for the night. There was also a really exciting drag performance going on that involved mostly wo/men of color, which was inspiring in its own way(though one of the drag queens did a really problematic rendition of Rihanna that involved domestic abuse as its major punchline [no pun intended]…). It would be worth the trek if there was a good drag show going on, but otherwise there’s nothing else around to hold my interest.

Fun atmosphere… but really an ugly bar. But the drinks are alright, and the staff is wonderful. I’ve ended up here on a wednesday night twice now, and have seen the drag show both times. Yahua, the host/MC Drag Queen is AWESOME! The crowd here is a lot of Colombia gays… and then sometimes some older guys that are slightly out of place… but whatever! Its an alright place to go now and then.

2.5… maybe a three. Went for happy hour and then back again at 10pm for karaōke on a Sunday night. The first bartender was so friendly as well as the guy running the karaōke. But I received completely rude service from the new bartender after the guys changed shifts. Totally disappointing cause drinks were on me that night, and boy. do I hate interacting with rude people. I’d really like to go back for the karaōke, but hate rude service… its a toss up. Either way, it wasn’t crowded at all and our group didn’t have to wait too long for our songs.

Sweet! A gay bar I think I’ve been to a few times, but haven’t reviewed on Unilocal!I think there should be some sort of fun musical theme song whenever that happens. It’s getting rarer and rarer. But there might be a reason I never reviewed Suite. Because it’s just kinda… eh. Alex P., for some God-awful reason, found himself on the west side of Harlem last night. I guess visiting an old co-worker? It must have been a REAL good friend ’cause I don’t think I’ve EVER seen him that far uptown. Anyway, he naturally mapped out the closest homosexual drinking establishment, which is what led him to the fine establishment we all know as Suite. That’s not to say it’s bad or anything. It’s just fairly adequate. I remember coming here once when Caitlin K. lived around the block. It was just after it opened, and I pretty much had the run of the place. That was nice. Last night? I don’t know where those people came from… it wasn’t sexy Columbia students like Alex thought. Pretty fair ratio of girls to guys, and I’ll be judgmental and say that this place is VERY lesbian friendly. Judgmental because I was judging them to lesbians because they were two girls dancing together. In lieu of anything else, this place was fine. Alex and I had a few beers and had a few laughs, but don’t necessarily make it your destination. I don’t think either of us are in too much of a rush to head back here, if you catch my drift.
