It had been truly packed once i arrived by(Red-colored Bull Flugtag time) therefore it had taken a little while to obtain with the collection and obtain my meals however i adored this location. I am just a sucker for premium grilled cheeses which location rocked. I am going to certainly be decreasing by frequently.

Will probably try the faux bacon sandwich next time, sounds good. Had the chicken schnitzel. Was a bit pricey for the size but it was quite tasty. I mean it’s Park Avenue but 11.40 for it was a little much. Speaking of prices, I asked her how much the Orangina was and she said she thought 2 or 2.20. She said in a surprised mood that it was 3 bucks. For others complaining about the juice prices. It is cold pressed and you’ll see way more overpriced in other places. 2.8, I’d give it more of a 3.5÷3.6 if it was 2 or so bucks cheaper.

A small, trendy sandwich shop that stands out among the series of chains on South Park Ave. I tried their breakfast food(unfortunately, they have a weird breakfast gap so you can’t order from the breakfast menu between 12pm-2pm) and I’d say it was very tasty. They have a bunch of different bagels and sandwiches that looked good as well. It’s a major go-to for people, like me, working in the area for their lunch breaks. I must say, this place is a little pricey for the kind of food they’re serving– especially the on-the-go items off to the side. I honestly don’t understand how a small bottle of juice costs $ 10…that’s basically a price of a sandwich. Other than that, it gets a little cramped and there is not too much space for eating. It’s really one of those grab and go types of restaurants.

Always enjoy the house roast beef, although the portions are a little small for a grown man.

LOVETHISPLACE! All of their breakfast and lunch options are amazing. They are truly culinary masterminds. The first time I went(after they just opened) I removed a few things from the sandwich they created — big mistake! Although it was delicious I’ve learned to completely trust them with their combinations even if they seem weird, out of left field, or include something I dont normally like. I used to work near by and am so sad that I 1-dont work within walking distance and 2-am not in their delivery range. They have a lot of good options for those with dietary restrictions too i.e. diary, gluten, etc. The line is long, but so worth it!

This place has really turned around since my last review! The sandwiches are great, salads have less lettuce and more of the good stuff, and the pastries are so much more moist and yummy. So happy to know Spreads is back on the map!

I think I’ve been in NYC too long as I now search for artisanal beverages & artisanal sandwiches. While along Park Ave S you have your basic chains: Cosi, Lenny’s, McDonalds, Hale & Hearty. I walked past this place for weeks before checking out the menu online. The name made me think they did bagels with diff types of spreads… very wrong. Stopped in for breakfast & got the croissant & egg sandwich. Over-easy organic cage free egg + gruyère cheese + black truffle spread + toasted balthazar croissant… delicious. I also had the cold brew & guess what? They have almond milk & agave!!! Ugh winner!!! I would def go back, looking forward to trying the donuts!

The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars and not 5 is because of the prices. I got the schnitzel sandwich on ciabatta bread and it tastes like heaven! It has the perfect balance of being delicious but also feeling semi-healthy with the roasted peppers and kaleslaw. The sandwich itself is not gigantic but it does the trick of satisfying you without making you feel like a cow. I wish it wasn’t $ 11. That part is ridiculous and will definitely limit my ability to go here. Can’t lie, eating this sandwich made me happy =)

I just don’t get this place. Maybe the people simply hate working there. I stopped going because of the workers’ incompetence and decided to try it again after several months. No one seems to care, they make my sandwich incorrectly as if that’s simply what they’re going to do. Over and over and over and over. When I say something it feels like I’m more of a burden. No one says sorry, we’ll fix that… It’s just blank stares.

Ordered lunch for a large group from here recently. Food was great! Loved the sandwiches and brussels sprouts. I will order from here again.

The review is based purely on my latest(and last) visits to this shop. For context, I’ve worked in this area since Jan. 12015 and have eaten here many times, more often than not with a decent, overpriced sandwich and generally satisfactory customer service(although there have been times where others have commented that they act at times as if they’re doing you a favor by serving you). So last week during a relatively non-peak lunch slot(1:45−2ish?) I showed up, was about 4th in line. Ordered one sandwich. Then waited. And waited. And waited some more. After about 12 minutes I couldn’t not acknowledge this peculiarity, so I politely asked one of the cashiers if they knew the status of my order. To her credit, she was concerned and tried to see about that sandwich. Then I waited. And waited. And waited some more. When it was all said and done: — Wait time: Approximately 22 minutes for a 7-inch overpriced sandwich. — Number of customer orders fulfilled ahead of my order: 16(including the 4 ahead of me, so 12 other customers were served before my sandwich came out — 0 apologies issued — In fact, 0 words even issued when the sandwich and my order # was called. Despite the look of frustration on my face. The funny thing is, as I fully appreciate that, hey, shit happens, if the guy who handed me the sandwich had literally just said the word ‘sorry’, I would have immediately said no problem and shaken it off. I’m a big guy. I’m not going to die waiting for food or going without a meal here and there. But to not even apologize? Complete joke. Don’t think I’ll be going there ever again, oh well.

I hate to bash this place because the service crew was very nice. But it took FOREVER(15 minutes) to get a breakfast sandwich and it wasn’t all that. They need to improve the operations, or cater to people who aren’t in a hurry. If they want to find those 1 in a 100 on Park Ave South, they should install some tables or bar stools.

Everything looks so good here! The only thing I’ve tried, and it’s still been my favorite is the chicken schnitzel salad that you can grab from the frige. It’s very convenient when I’m in a hurry, but everything smells so good in there. There’s never a super long line, and they definitely move fast. One of my favorite lunch spots in the area.

I ordered their weekly special of the apple wood roasted chicken sandwich with garlic aioli and mozz with roasted peppers and green basil. Its advertised as «inhouse Roasted chicken»…They don’t tell you its a cold chicken sandwich out of the fridge… ugh…for a $ 15 sandwich I would’ve gone somewhere else.

The place is spacious, but there’s not that much seating. Good thing that all their food doesn’t take too long to eat, so I’m sure you’ll find a seat when your order is ready. You can grab a menu at the end of the line before you go up to the cashier. Be wary that their salads are not really prepared when you order it – from the menu, it seems like it – but you have to pick it up from the fridge on the right hand side. I ordered their weekly special of the apple wood roasted chicken sandwich with garlic aioli and mozz with roasted peppers and some good ol’ delicious green basil. The sandwich was DELICIOUS!!! Ingredients were fresh and the sandwich was laid with the same tasty flavors in every bite. I was expecting a bit more from the«apple wood roasted chicken», but it really just tasted like grilled chicken with more moisture. If the chicken itself had more taste, this place would have been an awesome 5 stars! Service was nice :) I’ll come back to try some more of their sandwiches… and then coffee!

If you are looking for the best breakfast option in this area of town, you have found it. The donuts are AMAZING. Also try the truffle croissant. It will blow your mind. Great coffee too. There’s never a line in the morning, but there should be. Really nice staff too! Check it out.

Came here for take-out lunch today after my boss suggested it and was in the mood for their schnitzel sandwich. Immediately upon laying my eyes on their menu, I knew that their grilled cheese sandwich had to be mine. Their grilled cheese sandwich comes with aged cheddar, a black truffle spread, grilled asparagus and their house spread assembled and grilled/pressed in sliced sourdough bread. I love aged cheddar(or frankly, any kind of cheese — yes, even the stinky ones), truffles(black and white) and sourdough is easily my favorite bread(unless we’re counting cheesebreads cuz then… well…yeahhh…). I asked for no asparagus because, well, I don’t like asparagus, nor do I care for it. My sandwich was delicious, well melted and my sourdough was crispy and flavorful. My boss’ Schnitzel sandwich comes with white meat chicken, aleppo pickled roasted peppers, roasted garlic aioli and kaleslaw on toasted ciabatta. Yes, you read that correctly — KALESLAW. Spreads gets a Unilocal star for creativity and another one for innovation. The only 2 issues I have with this place are: _______________________________________________ A.) With the exception of their breakfast sandwiches(which look absolutely scrumptious mind you), the sandwiches here seem to be overpriced for what they are. They aren’t very big, thick or jam-packed. My grilled cheese sandwich was about $ 9 and the entire thing was the size of my(small-ish) hand and not very thin — we’re talking maybe 2 slices of cheese at most(see pictured). I assume I was paying for the black truffles — but considering that their sandwiches are all $ 9 – 14 can’t they throw in a beverage and/or bag of chips? These things are cheap for them to provide, justify the pricey numbers and make for a well-rounded meal — which would increase repeat business rather than«gonna treat myself once in awhile» which is what this place is for me. B.) For my boss’ schnitzel sandwich and 2 grilled cheese(1 was mine and the other was my coworker’s) we waited about a little over 10 minutes while other customers who ordered after us received their food first. Perhaps grilled cheese sandwiches take a little more time when being pressed. This wasn’t a big deal, but on a day where time is really of the essence and I need to make a run for my office during lunch, it could be a bit frustrating. _______________________________________________ In all I’m between giving Spreads 3 or 4 Unilocal stars but ultimately am going with 3. I do want to come here soon and try their Croissant & Egg Sandwich(over-easy, organic, cage-free egg, gruyère cheese and black truffle spread on a toasted balthazar croissant) because I think it sounds absolutely amazing — at almost $ 6 this sounds like a better priced and really decadent sounding breakfast treat… also, I’d like to learn what a «balthazar croissant» is. It sounds neat :).

Truffled cheese sandwich! And lots of other great sandwiches, judging by the smiles on other diner’s faces. Good service, lots of choices, and did I mention truffles, asparagus and cheese smooshed together? Yum! Enjoy!

Needed lunch one day and decided to try this place out. It’s a small sandwich spot on the corner of 30th and Park. I called and ordered in and had a weird experience where I had to give them my credit card information and pay over the phone prior to me coming to pick it up. For starters, you’re a sandwich place, not some gourmet restaurant, so that’s weird(although, it’s an expensive sandwich!). Second, the person on the phone said that I should order chips/drink now, so that I don’t have to wait in line when I get there and I can just pick up my food and walk out — completely false. When I walked into the restaurant to pick up my food, I had to wait in line, just like everyone else, and then sign my receipt. I easily could’ve picked up a bag of chips or a drink there, and it still doesn’t make sense why they needed to take my credit card information over the phone. I was polite the whole time and didn’t mention anything, but the cashiers didn’t really smile and didn’t seem to be in a good mood. I wasn’t expecting the sandwich to be good, probably because my service at this point was terrible, but I was surprised that it was decent. I got the coconut bacon and it was good. The bacon bits in the sandwich were tasty and had a nice crunch to it. Don’t know if I’ll be back, but I did enjoy the sandwich.

If you’re looking for some fresh, quality food on-the-go, head over to Spreads in Midtown East. This quick service shop focuses on fresh, scratch made products that are also affordable. They also believe in the mantra that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, serving just breakfast and lunch with a number of options. Their menu highlights their sandwiches, but they offer salads, soups, veggie sides and baked goods as well, and everything is made on premises. I ordered their Coconut Bacon Sandwich(applewood-smoked coconut«bacon», avocado, tomato, house greens, house made vegan mayo, seven grain bread), which is actually vegan. I’m not vegan, but it sounded healthy and delicious… and it was. The lettuce is fresh, crisp, and the tomato juicy. Then, you have the little«bacon» bits which are similar to the texture of chips with a smoky, sweet, and coconutty flavor. The creaminess of the avocado and the sweet herbiness of the spread compliment the sandwich really nicely.
