3 girls + 6 dishes + 4 beers = magnífico! the front area was very loud but the back was much better and chill atmosphere. the music started getting better and louder at 10– amping us up instead of passing us out. Sliders(oh baby), truffles mac and cheese(absolute must), wings(finger licking good), Brussel sprouts(yeah had a raised eye brow but didn’t not like it!), potato fries(danger! ppl might steal your fries!) + love and fun!

I absolutely love this place because they have an amazing beer selection and surprisingly their food is not bad as well. Their mac and cheese is really good and their artichoke dip is too. However, the artichoke dip didn’t come with enough chips as we would have liked. My main gripe however is I usually prefer to sit in the second room in the back, but for some reason they always say it’s reserved or would just not let us go there and then when I leave and walk past it’s always empty. Nonetheless I would recommend this place for anyone in the lower east side who just wants a casual craft beer establishment.

Stumbled in while walking around and decided to grab some lunch. Unfortunately, it was still brunch at 4pm and our bartender was so confused he couldn’t explain to us what food was available. He seemed annoyed that customers were even there at the bar. He gave us 3 menus and explained that it is still brunch for another half hour. After that it’s french fries only until dinner. We ordered. He returns and asks, all condescendingly, if what we ordered was on the brunch menu. M ordered off the wrong menu — the lunch menu — and instead of the bartender being nice about it, he was a bit of a prick. He must have been having a bad day. Boo hoo. Anyway, 3 stars because food was good and they have an awesome draft beer selection. My grilled cheese and M’s breakfast omelet were good.

Pretty chill bar/restaurant to hangout in. It’s not as loud and crowded as other bars in LES. Very convenient since its open early so you can start drinking early ;) The place itself is spacious and has communal tables. I enjoy sharing a bottle of wine or prosecco with friends. A bottle of wine starts at about $ 30+ dollars, so pretty affordable. I’ve also tried some of their food(French fries, Mac and cheese), which is pretty good. Nothing too special about this place but I’ll definitely will be returning if it’s convenient.

Night life review: Some decent(but strong) cocktails, $ 11 – 12. Avoid the cucumber one, super dumb strong. Unusually, lots of seating for a bar. It’s a bit like a beer garden with the picnic style long wooden tables. Good choice to sit and actually chat with friends as it’s not CRAZYCLUB loud on a prime weekend night. Lots of craft beers… but I hear this can be expensive. Decent bathrooms, pretty good crowd.

Came here for some beer and appetizer. We got the Jalapeños dip but they only gave us a few pieces of chips, we had to order more chips. The dip tasted fresh and was warm but nothing really special. According to me, the cocktails were a little expensive. I loved the ambience and the service was great as well.

Wandered in here on a Friday night, with the expectation that there would be a huge wait, considering the flow of people we’d seen when we passed by a couple times. To my surprise, the hostess led us to additional seating in a «back room», where the windows were raised like garage doors — I didn’t appreciate this, since it let in cigarette smoke, and I am not a smoker. At first impression, I felt like our waitress was a little on the cold side towards us, but it may have just been me. It didn’t feel like she wanted to help us because she didn’t think we would tip her well. Again, it may have just been me. To be fair, I think she had to run the entire back room pretty much by herself, with maybe one or two bussers to help her serve meals and clear tables. Anyway, we ordered the sweet potato fries, artichoke spinach dip, truffle mac and cheese, kobe sliders, fish and chips, and the salmon plate that came with caesar salad and croutons. I appreciated that the sweet potato fries weren’t «dressed up» like they are at some other places — I like the natural sweetness and taste of sweet potato. The artichoke spinach dip was alright; I dipped my sweet potato fries in it a couple times. Not sure they go well together(guess that’s why they’re not served together! haha). One thing I’d like to note about the dip is that while other places serve the dip with obnoxious amounts of chips, here, it came with maybe 8 pieces of pita bread. I think it’s a good thing, so that you don’t feel like you don’t have enough dip to pair with the bread, which is what I feel like at other places, lol. The kobe sliders came in a set of 3 — they’re like mini cheeseburgers, but they were yummy. I tried the fish and chips, which was really fried fish and hand cut fries. The fries tasted great; it had some kind of seasoning on it that was not something I expected, almost like a barbeque smoky flavor? But hey, I could be wrong, haha! The fish was just okay. It didn’t pop out to me like something amazing. As for the mac and cheese, I only really wanted to try it because I had read a review that this was the best mac and cheese they ever had. I’m sorry, but it’s not *the best*. You gotta get out more XD That being said though, I did enjoy the mac and cheese. It was cheesy, and I liked the crusty part on the top. If you like mac and cheese, this is worth a try. Now onto my salmon plate — the grilled caesar was kinda… interesting? I’ve never had grilled salad before, and this was just like two chunks of lettuce grilled and topped with dressing and croutons. I mean, I cut it with a knife. weird, lol. That’s not to say it wasn’t good though. The salmon chunk was teeny, but it was expected — I mean, they couldn’t have spelled it out anymore for us by telling us how big it would be on the menu(reading is fundamental, kids!). I liked that the salmon flaked off, but again, wasn’t amazing/different; just tasted like salmon. In hindsight, we must look like fatties, because we ordered a crap ton of stuff, LOL. As for whether we would be back — I wasn’t wowed by the service or the food, so maybe? It’s also good to note that someone was celebrating their birthday, and their group was just being loud, obnoxious, and just plain ratchet as f**k, which annoyed the hell out of me, but that’s what I get for dining out, especially on a Friday night.

I had no idea that this place even had food until my friend suggested we go there for dinner after a stretch of day drinking in the lower east side. Despite having half of one of the long tables totally open, they told us that the wait was 45 minutes. We grabbed a beer at the bar and enjoyed the luxury of their plentiful bathrooms downstairs, but ultimately lost half of our group(myself included) during the wait. Solid beer selection though – I always enjoy their seasonal brews.

Family picnic-style tables for large groups or those who like to mingle. 40 beers tap, I believe. You’ll find something for every beer drinker and it’s fun to peruse while you wait for food. Small portions, but the lemon ricotta pancakes are excellent. Come here to people watch at the window by yourself or with a friend, it’s excellent on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

This place is basically like Houston Hall except INFINITELYSMALLER. One or two farm tables with seating lined across the one small room that is this bar. Came here on a Saturday night the crowd here is your typical loud NYC finance bros — literally, while we were here, a group of dudes started jumping and chanting in a circle. The bouncer was on his last nerve though and wasn’t having it. Not really my kind of place — and plenty of others around the area.

I came to spitzers on a Saturday night for some food and drinks at about 930. It was pretty crowded. There are a few big, communal tables and there are some small tables. The hostess was very nice, trying to accommodate us and make the wait as short as possible. We only waited for about ten minutes then we got three seats by the window. We ordered drinks but took a while to decide on food. I really liked that they didn’t rush us at all, despite the restaurant being crowded. We stayed at the table for a long time even after we ate, and we weren’t rushed. I ordered a Cobb salad and it was really good. My friend ordered a grilled cheese with bacon and sweet potato fries. She really liked it. They have a nice menu. I would love to come back and try new things.

I did not come here for food; only as a pit stop for a fortifying glass of wine. Hint: Snag a table that overlooks the street. Prime people watching!

The good: The ambiance and beer choices are good. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating. The bad: The food. All of it. The menu choices are great in theory, but the execution is poor at best. This place deserves to be better, and walking but on a weekend I’m baffled at how it stays that way with so many choices. The mac n cheese was greasy, the«epic» chicken sandwich… served on a white bread bun and hot sauce from a jar using what looked like rib meat, not good, and the cauliflower was swimming in water and had no taste whatsoever, no signs of seasoning. This place has so much potential but again the execution of food was horrendous.

The chicken sandwich is divine! I was a little small, but I think I might be biased because I wish I was able to eat more! The breakfast potatoes are also very good. They have a bit of a kick! The only thing holding me back from giving 5 stars is there was a mix up with my credit card and I got charged 5 times what I should have been in addition to the charge I was supposed to receive. When I called they reversed it, but I just kind of expected more. I barely got an apology…

If we came here yesterday it would have been the 5th Sunday in a row we ate at Spitzers for brunch. Really simple and delicious ! The lemon ricotta pancakes are to die for. Seriously though, if I ordered them 4 weeks In a row you need to at least try them once in your life. I actually dare you not to like them. Everything else on the menu is pretty good! Nothing I would say to stay away from. Sweet potato fries are addicting. Chicken sandwich is hit or miss depending on who’s making it for you. One week it’s burnt to a crisp the next week it’s juicy and full of flavor. Will say service is alright in comparison. And FORTHELOVEOFGODCLOSETHEWINDOWSWHENITS100DEGREESOUTSIDE. Nothing makes me happier than sweating while eating my brunch. Yum.

A decent enough bar to drop in on and have a drink in before heading on to other things. We were there about 9/10pm after dinner and wandering around the LES heading back to where we were staying. Propped ourselves at the bar and had a cocktail each before heading on our way. The drinks were tasty, the service friendly, and the cost didn’t break the bank. Exactly what we were looking for!

I thought I had gone to most — if not all — of the best beer bars in Manhattan, but I was quite mistaken. Spitzer’s is craft beer heaven. Despite how absurdly insane the scene was here on Saturday night, I had a huge grin plastered across my face after seeing the impressive selection of beers on tap. Aaaand the bottled beers are just as good and just as plentiful. So, to backtrack, I came here on the recommendation of a friend who used to be a regular here. I hadn’t done any Unilocal research beforehand(this is a very rare event), so I went in blindly. I didn’t even know how many stars this place had — shock and awe! No but actually, I kind of literally went in blindly. This place was almost as dark as it was packed. I’m guessing the scene here is extremely different for brunch/any weeknight meal, but on a Saturday night, it seemed pretty wild in here. At first I was a bit intimidated — it seemed like some kind of savage beer cave. Beer cave, yes. Savage, not really. I’m just still relatively new to the incomparable scene that is the Lower East Side on weekends. Luckily for us, my friend knew that there was actually a back room here, which we made a beeline for immediately. Still pretty packed, but more manageable. There were actually empty seats scattered around, which was a nice surprise. We snagged a pair of them swiftly. Usually at places like this, I just tell the bartender what I like and ask for something comparable. I don’t know enough about craft beer to understand a lot of idiosyncrasies involved, but I know what my starting point is every time: Allagash Tripel. It’s the first beer I tried that I actually loved, so that’s always my home base. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen it anywhere for months. Until… Spitzer’s! I couldn’t believe my eyes. Clearly I had to order it, and it was just as good as I had remembered. Even better, I found a new beer(Golden Monkey, another Belgian tripel) that had an almost identical flavor, so was pretty much just as good as the first. So Spitzer’s gets double the points. Favorite beer? Check. New beer to add to my favorites list? Check.

Winter’s finally over and it’s time to sit outside! The only problem is that you’re not the only New Yorker that has had this epiphany this week. Once we realized we were never really going to sit outisde we resolved ourselves to sit at the window seat at Spitzer’s.Solid decision with awesome people watching! I am still thinking about my burgr. I don’t even know if I can call it a burger because it was beyond amazing. I will probably be talking about this one for years to come, but I’m going to let you in on my secret, it was the Hickory Short Rib Burger. Noms! Topped with sweet potato fries and lots of beer for the table, we were all happy campers. I’ll definitely be coming back and in no time.

A friend that used to live in the city used to come here, so he recommended we check it out for brunch on a Saturday. Needless to say, it was packed and thinking we had to squeeze in around strangers or wait to be seated, I was a bit discouraged as I was famished. However, the hostess led us to the back room where it was spacious, much less crowded and quieter. Continuing on our previous night of drinking, we had some water and decided a round of bloody maria’s(my first) was in order. It was good, spiced just right and had enough of a healthy vibe to it to make me forget that we officially started our day drinking. For food, we ordered some shared sweet potato fries. I needed something greasy and rich to sop up the lethargy and seriously considered the truffle mac & cheese, but figured that was way too heavy, so I got the country breakfast. Two eggs, sunny side up, apple-wood smoked bacon, sausage and cheesy grits. None of it was too different from what I’ve had before at any brunch spot besides the cheesy grits. It was absolutely delicious, rich and flavorful without being overly heavy and cheesy. Good gastropub in the lower east side!

There are only four words you need to know for Spitzer’s Corner. TRUFFLEMACANDCHEESE. The only thing that could have made it better would be bacon. Because come on… bacon makes the world go round. I also ordered the chorizo hash. I wish I tasted more chorizo in there, if there was any at all. If I come back again, I would deffo order the mac and cheese again. But next time, I won’t be sharing it. MELDOESN’T SHAREFOOD.
