Came here for a friend’s birthday in Jan. No problems at the door. The place is small/intimate and the décor isn’t too shabby. My friend had a table in the front by the door and it was freezing! The could of closed the front door as soon as someone walked in. But nope. I guess after some drinks you don’t notice the cold though. My biggest gripe was the music. The DJ was terrible… all the people was talking about it. He constantly skipped to the next song and the genre was all over the place. 1 song was hip hop then house then Miley Cyrus? wtf?! So yup– won’t be coming back here anytime soon.

The only thing that’s nice about this place is the décor. The music was ok. I went on House Music night. the crowd was corny and the drinks were way overpriced and I’m from nyc so I know nyc prices. The people at the door are so obviously filtering out who they want in and out. people in front of me were told they have to pay while the guy looked me and my boyfriend up and down and let us in free. whatever. You’d think it was some hot place they way they act at the door. It’s really not that serious. I’m not really impressed.

Believe it or not part of my date on *that* TV show took place at this very venue. It was the very last part of the date, after appetizers got us chatting, and dinner got us sharing intimate *REAL* stories. LOL We were of course brought here by limo, cause you know everybody drives limos in New Jersey, and well it just wouldn’t look NY without a limo now would it? Upon arrival we were ushered in by bouncers and camera people and on and on. Of course they had already begun setting up for our shoot, and made lots of room for us off in the corner. What I loved most was how they staged a club *look* but asking patrons to act cool. Funny. The place felt very funky to me, but I could be slightly biased as this was an unusual circumstance. Still it felt like a bad disco club that got transported from Jersey Shore. Sorry just bein honest. Anyway, not my scene but that doesn’t mean it’s not great for other people.

LES mess. * This place is beautiful inside and cozy. Its very tiny, and when they first opened the owners of bloc group intended it to be exclusive. Celebrated My birthday with Akon next to my table(which is arms length reach), and Jay z made a few appearances because it was intimate. Now its a bunch of hooligans jumping on tables, spilling drinks, starting fights, and having threesomes in the bathroom. Yes, Im an accidental witness. But hey, its the LES getting real loose.

Price: N/A Highlight: Small & Intimate without being claustrophobic Highlight within the highlight: The music(yes, I was shocked) This lounge activates my «Kara you have been here and done this» autopilot. The nitty gritty — the bouncers were friendly, no line, great music, like dance music from all genres, easy to get drinks at the bar, the crowd is young and because of the setup of the place you can kinda not care about the people at other tables around and have fun with the people at your table. The lounge is small and practically anywhere you stand you can kinda get a view of the whole place. I like that they don’t seem to overpack the place — 1 flaming star for that and 2 stars for the great music that got people moving, distracting them from looking at each other. People had started to leave around 2AM. Layout wise — the bathrooms and coat check are both in awkward locations. $ 16 for a long island iced tea. $ 15 for a shot of grey goose. Yup.

The place is tiny and intimate, a great spot to end up toward the end of the night. 9 dollar amstel lights are a little steep for a place located right next to Spitzers, but I suppose if you’re looking for good beer this isn’t the place. The music is a solid mix of house and throwbacks and will have you off the leather couches in no time(which are pretty comfy, I might add). Drawbacks? Bring cash. There was no credit card minimum, even for Saturday night, but the bartender adds 2 dollars tip onto your tab for every drink you order. There is absolutely no light in the place(literally, the bartender gave me one of the candles sitting on the bar so I could sign the bill) and I never would have caught it had I not heard it from someone else. All in all a fun spot, but taking advantage of customers like that along with one of the doormen telling my girlfriend that«she should check her coat, because if something ‘happens’ to it, the bar is not responsible.» If they treated their customers a little better I might think about coming back.

A couple groups of friends were in town and we thought we’d try this place out. There wasn’t a line outside, but there was a rope where a line was supposed to be. We walked up to the woman outside, holding a clipboard, and she told us it would be $ 50/person to get in on a WEDNESDAY night. We immediately were going to leave, and she stopped to tell us that there was another option: for every 4 people we had to meet a $ 150 bar tab — that we could do. So we had to put it all on one credit card, and we had to give the card to her before going in. When we got inside the place had an OK amount of people in it, just no where near packed or the way they made it out to be. Also, it only took about 2 drinks a person to make the tab, which sucked. The only positive thing I could say about this place was the DJ was absolutely fantastic. But don’t let that be the reason you try this place out, since it turned out that the DJ that night was a celebrity guest. Since my visit I’ve heard of a couple celebrity DJ’s spinning there, which makes me want to give this place a 2nd try … but I haven’t gotten myself to do it just yet.

Everything about this place is all soooo wrong. CV is the reincarnation of the previous venue called Riv 105. Yes folks… they changed the name to trick all of you into thinking this is the newest and hottest spot in town. In reality it’s the same pretentious dump as before that specifically caters to out of townies with no clue where to go on a Saturday night in NYC. I will admit that the décor is visually appealing and will blanket you with the feeling of exclusivity and materialism. But as the saying goes, even if you put lipstick on a pig, you’re still going to smell bacon. Issue número uno. Drinks are way overpriced. $ 15 for a cocktail and $ 10 for domestic beers. Get the funk out of here! Dudes… make sure you bring your Amex Gold Card. And some advice for you ladies… you can easily work the free drink strategy from most guys inside. Especially from the sleazy foreigners who feel the need to throw some cash around to get attention(cause that’s pretty much all they have going for them anyways). Don’t feel bad about taking advantage of them… it’s their choice to massage their own ego in this manner. Just don’t give them your real phone number unless your schedule permits time to deal with crazy stalkers(true story from 2 of my friends). Number two. The crowd is hideous. It largely consists of people who are new to the NYC club scene, or people who are visiting from out of town. We’re primarily talking about foreigners(mostly of the brown variety) and bridge ‘n tunnel denizens. It’s also a popular place for promoters and wannabes to entertain visiting high-profile guests. You’re really not getting the true NYC club experience here. It’s the same as saying you want to experience Paris… so you go visit the French Pavilion at Epcot Center. It’s just not the same. Lastly… the bouncers here are quite possibly the worst bunch of ragamuffins I’ve ever encountered. I’m serious. Over the past 12 years, I’ve been inside pretty much every club you can name. I’ve seen my fair share of disgusting staff, and I have to honestly say this is firmly in my top 5 list of worst in class. Whoever hired these people should be looking for a new job themselves. The ego of the bouncers are just as big as the high-rollers inside. Rude. Disrespectful. Impolite. Selfish. Obnoxious. I even have unconfirmed reports that they all have small wee-wees, too… which possibly explains why they need to overcompensate. There is not a helpful one in the bunch, and if you even look at one of them wrong you will get thrown out. So there you have it. Let’s see if they change their name(again) in 6 months to hide the fact that this place is a dying piece of crapola. If you’re new to NYC(or are visiting), I assure you there are dozens of other places to ‘be seen’ here in the city. If you do end up going here, I would recommend that you not brag about it to other New Yorkers you meet on your trip. You’ll look like a newbie and they’ll just laugh in your face. Oh… and in case you’re wondering. The only reason why I’ve been here a few times is because of an obligation to attend several birthday parties. My experience has always been the same, and I would never willingly come here otherwise.

Did I just pay $ 50 for three shots of Maker’s? At least the music was fun… until 2:30. Then they were just trying to kick people out.

A little birdy said DJ Soul and DJ Neil Armstrong were going to be spinning so me and a couple of friends were super excited to go and groove. Tried stopping by bOb beforehand but to our surprise it was closed so went to Verlaine for a drink since it didn’t start till 11PM. Space wasn’t big but the décor and atmosphere was pretty dope, definitely a loungey feel. Crowd was fairly mixed but I’m sure most of them were fans of the two DJs, however with a couple of douchebags I almost swung at and white girls with their own rhythm in exception(no offense but you’d have to be there to understand, it was HILARIOUS). One thing I don’t understand is, carpet?! WHY?! Drinks spilled will get soaked in and become sticky not to mention that it sucks to dance on. The space was small enough as is. Drinks were pretty damn pricey as well. If it was just regular turntable technicians working then this place would be 2 stars. But since the famed DJ’s Soul and Neil Armstrong brought us back when Hip-Hop was fun I danced my sweaty ass off and had a grand time till 3AM on a Wednesday night.

This place was our third spot of the night. Outside door guy was nice and calm even though a(n obviously) drunk woman and her party tried unsuccessfully to come in. For some reason it led to her to say he was a «stupid N» and was quickly whisked away by her male companion. SMH. Bitch, you were tore up from the floor up and the two dudes you were with looked like they just did some meth… THAT’S why you weren’t allowed in! We were told we had to «wait for the door man» which was no problem. We went in to find 2 couples in there… ok. Music was ok. The $ 8 for a beer and a shot was alright I suppose, I’m just glad they had specials. I’m a mixed drink person and don’t care for shots but for the cost w/e. The things I liked most about this place were décor and that the outside door people are nice and respectful when filtering out who can come in. No complaints really. I’d give it another shot next time I come through.

Went there last night, and was surprised at the ‘artwork’(nude female models). Anyway, the place was fun, but really small. I went for a open bar vodka night and when they say they end at 12, they end at 12(no warning either) BTW Rum and Coke $ 14

I was here back in February for an after party during fashion week. It is a beautiful small space with a couple of tables and sofa seating areas. I believe you can have less than 100 people in the room. It barely seems even close to that… The drinks are pretty expensive. Luckily my fashion friends had a small table in the back area. We drank a couple bottles before moving onto the next spot. Line can be ridiculous, especially waiting to get into a full capacity small lounge. Not really my scene but maybe for private parties its good?

I love this place, I have to admit I liked when it was Thor before too. My girls and me always have an awesome time here. There is always an abundance of drinks flowing and interesting people around. Almost everyone I know has had an amazingly wonderful after party invite after going out here. You never know where your night will end when you go here but you know it will be good.

CV is the ISH. I swear this place is like a black hole… a complete time warp happens when my friends and I go – we get swept up in the great music – and suddenly it is 4 a.m. The crowd that goes there is Small space, tastefully decorated. Love the wallpaper print – woods chosen for décor. nice and dark. My Saturday night spot for quite some time now. Occasional Friday night too. Music=Awesome. DJ usually spins rap/hip hop/some pop and techno thrown in. Management is cool. I believe drinks can be pricey if you are just paying out of pocket… but bottle service is good… couches comfy. Also went for my best friend’s bday… so also a good Bday spot. Odd to comment on – but i also really like the bathroom tile. Only Cons: The bathroom situation is a bit awkward, as you walk through the line before entering into the bar area. and the 2 bathroom stalls are unisex, so it is one line that feeds for both, and the wait can be long. One of the door guys has a super attitude… but what can you expect? Also, it can get really crowded.

Cons: — small venue, too small if you ask me — drinks are ok — bartenders look at you for a first glance and take their time to serve you. plus the drinks are watered down — music around 12 was not good. music is a big determining factor of how long i’ll stay and i didn’t keep me here for long. — gets really crowded — the bathroom line is ridiculously long. Pros: — cool décor. — seating was more for those who reserved a table, but they weren’t strict if we wanted to sit down. — drinks prices were not too high. — intimate if you’re just going there with a small group.

Come here if you enjoy being ignored by bartenders who have better things to do, such as play slap hands, than you know, take your order in a near empty lounge.

New place, new designers, new disco balls, yup it’s CV. The place is small but a beauty, with wooden sculptures and a very dark feel. It’s sleek, trendy and a great spot to meet for drinks. We partied here on a Friday night and the crowd was petty fun. The drinks were $$$ but on par with hotel lounge prices I guess — $ 9 beers and $ 13 well drinks. I stuck to beer but friends said the bartender had a heavy pour, so maybe the $ 13 is worth it. The music was fabulous around 2am — solid mix of bar tunes you can dance to and singalongs — and as the night went on it slowly turned to reggae, hip-hop and techno. The huge selection of hip-hop around 3am definitely cleared the room a bit. With winter on top of us now, don’t worry — there is a coat check. Side note — I handed a female bartender a $ 50 for 2 beers and she hands me back $ 2. I began to argue with her and she pretty much refused to give me back the rest of my change, claiming I handed her a $ 20. I wasn’t drunk and only had a $ 50 in my wallet all night, so we got into a bit of a fight. She was quite a bitch about it. I’ll go back to CV in a heartbeat. Great time.

Went to the opening party for this new lounge on Rivington on Wednesday and am pleased to report that it has very little relation to THOR(my own personal hell) and stands completely apart from the Rivington Hotel. Part tiki lounge, part modernist log cabin … the space is simply beautiful. I couldn’t help but marvel at the wooden stacked paneled walls, even resting my cocktail on some larger slats. The room is not huge and I can see it filling fast but the entire time I felt like I was in someone’s living room rather than a bar. Everything was comfortable and it’s easy to imagine taking over the space for a private event. While we enjoyed all of this, as soon as the open bar ended my well vodka sodas became $ 13 and the enchantment began to wane. Sure it’s a cool space and everyone was lovely at the event but seriously, $ 13 well drinks are so pre-recession passé.

Basically Riv 105 got a makeover and cleverly changed it’s name to CV(105 in Roman Numerals). The space is small and the capacity is probably less than a 105 people. Expect a continental crowd partying on black banquettes around the u shaped bar to some decent tunes. It’s nothing groundbreaking as far as nightlife is concerned. Ideal for a small intimate party or event. It was open bar when we went so I enjoyed myself. I don’t know if I would have so much if I was paying though.
