Ordered lamb saag here, even though it wasn’t on the menu(they have lamb dishes, and chicken saag, so they made it work), and a side order of naan. The saag was much more rustic than I’ve had elsewhere; the spinach wasn’t blended to a fine purée, it was left in large leaves. Not bad at all, just not like I’ve ever had before. Like everyone else has said, it wasn’t as flavorful as I’ve had elsewhere, and noticeably oily. Guys, lay off the ghee! The naan was kinda flavorless and starchy, not at all the yeasty/savory that I’ve had before. Almost like they’re using all purpose flour instead of bread flour. But it was prepared well. The basamati rice was prepared correctly(light and fluffy), but again, not scented with spice like other places. For $ 13 can’t really complain. But not sure if I’ll be back. It’s worth a try.

Place my first small«test» order. Food arrived in just 30 mins up to 127th. Chicken saag was tad oily, but in a home-cooking way; nothing too extreme. No complaints about the flavor. Nan was fresh & warm. Okay for the price & late hour. Delivery guy very polite. I’d definitely try them again.

Our first and last order, it took nearly 2 hours. The food is mediocre Bengali food, not really Indian. The paratha breads are the worst I ever tried, thick, gooey and greasy. The Baingan bharta(eggplant dish) it was flavorful, but drenched in oil. The Tikka Masala dish, sweet and over powered by heavy cream, sort of a creamy Campbell soup with exotic spices. Pretty expensive, for that kind of food!

I’m going to admit off the bat that I am not well versed in Indian cuisine. however, I thought the chicken tikka masala was delicious. I also had a good delivery experience unlike several of the reviews. I ordered via Grubhub and it was at my door in 25 minutes. Taking off 1 star because the prices, while not insane, are a little high considering how much you get.

Food was unbelievable! My family loved the samosas and Chicken Tikka Masala. The chicken over rice was perfectly seasoned and the entire order was just delivered perfectly! Portions are a great size and the delivery time to the Upper West Side was less than an hour! The owner/manager delivered to us and then personally asked us to write a review on whether we liked it or on what he could improve. Love the diligence. Quite the businessman. Great experience!

Not great, but not the worst I’ve ever had. I’d say it’d definitely over priced and under flavoured. Maybe on the way home from a night out if you’re really drunk but I guess anything is good then haha. So much better in the area. Save your money.

There really should be an option to put 0 stars for this place. I ordered dinner from Spice Hut last night via Seamless and they forgot to delivery two items I ordered, garlic naan and the vegetable samosas, so they had to do a second delivery. I’ve never had a Chicken Tikka Masala that was this disgusting. Think creamy tomato sauce with a cup of sugar in it. Gross! Vegetable Samosa was nice and crispy but the inside was filled with what looked like those frozen mixed vegetables you buy in the freezer section at the grocery store. Onion Bhaji was a wet, oily clump of balled up onions — shouldn’t it be light and crispy? The garlic naan had potential because the flavor on it was nice but it was not fluffy and not even fully cooked. Parts of the naan were still raw and doughy. Chicken Briyani was the best part of the meal even with the extremely dry chicken but that’s not saying much because everything else was just plain terrible. Waste of money — I would never order from this place again.

Average Indian food — not the best in the area. We ordered delivery through seamless on a Sunday night and it took 1.5 hours for it to arrive! When it finally got here, it was good but not great. Everything seemed very greasy(as mentioned in other reviews). It is definitely affordable and I enjoyed most of it, but as far as Indian take out goes, I think there are others nearby that do a better job.

I have one question to the cooks at spice hut: can y’all chill please with the oil? Interestingly enough, oil doesn’t happen to be the main ingredient in curry, but you wouldn’t know that if you ate at spice hut where inches thick layer of slick grease settled at the top of your curry and pretty much any other dish they serve. The one exception to this rule is the biriyani. Pretty sure they’re only in business because they’re the only restaurant in Harlem that delivers on Grubhub after midnight. I recommend throwing your money in a trash can over paying for this«food». Inedible.

I don’t know if it’s because it’s late… But gives them no excuse anyway. Found a dead bug which looked like a baby cockroach in my rice. I called and told them and he said he’ll send over another rice… Is that it? It’s a dead cockroach for god sakes. As for the chicken tikka… What everyone else said is correct. It’s horrible on top of terrible. Not only is it bad… All I’m thinking when I look at it is «what if a dead bug was cooked with it?»

I’ve only ordered delivery from here a few times now but the people are always super friendly and the food is delicious. The only reason I gave the place 4 stars instead of 5 is because once there was something wrong with what I ordered, but they were very apologetic and quickly rectified the situation. They even sent me free samosas on my next order!

This is by far the worst Indian food I’ve ever had. The chicken tikka tasted like a heapful of sugar and tomatoes. It was a red color instead of orange. The samosa was horrible. It was like they threw a bag of mixed veggies in it and fried away.

My boyfriend & i stayed in NYC and this was below our apartment. We over looked it a few times, that was a mistake. The food here was fantastic. I ordered the spiciest menu item, cooked with ghost peppers. And several other appetizers. I’m an adventurous foodie, I can’t recall the names of them but every item we had was delicious! Defiantly a must try!

The 1 star is for delivering all the way from 2nd Ave to the west side, props to the delivery guy even though it took well over an hour. Didn’t appreciate the hair in my gulab jamun, the butter chicken was not butter chicken, the paneer was sweeter than the gulab jamun. Hairnets anyone?

This place has two tables and is mainly a take out, delivery and catering spot. Not your typical dine in atmosphere. Along with an extensive Indian food menu they also have gyros, chicken wings, burgers and a few other options. I’ve eaten there three times now. Twice taking it to go and once dining in. The gyro and fries were good. The Indian food is amazing! Actually the best Indian food I’ve had in NYC. We tried the Tika Masala — awesome! Lamb Vindaloo very spicy and good. Spice hut rice — not very spicy but so named because it’s their special house rice. They will give you sides of hot sauce if you want to spice it up. I would recommend this place not for atmosphere but excuse the food is great. I’ve always picked it up and taken it to go or dinned in. I will be back!

Not good. First I ordered seamless and the guy looked confused when I asked if the tip was on the card. He immediately called in and handed the phone to me and I said i payed. Ok… As for the food, not good. Bland, dry and not even close to what was described in the description. I got the 14 dollar special and it had one small container of chicken and some lentils. Not good. The other reviews were right, should have listened.

Very disappointing. The veggie samosa tasted like it was made last week and refried in old dirty oil. The chicken tikva massala tastes like spaghetti sauce. The garlic naan had almost no garlic on it. Just bad.

Based on delivery ITSUCKS! I’m still waiting it’s been over an hour. The delivery guy called me and he was frantic & hood af. Made the order from EAT24 app. They should employ someone that has knowledge of East/West Harlem.

This place is awesome! It’s london style indian cooking, so less spicy than Indian food can normally be. This means my hubby, who is non-Indian while I am, can finally join me when I suddenly crave good indian cooking, and mom can’t deliver from Queens. I loved, loved the lamb here. It melts off the bone, and the spice mix is perfect. The biryani was kind of unique, and definitely not the Hyderabad style biryani I love, but it was very good. I really like the owner, and his cook; they are both creative, and happy to bring home cooked style indian food to my table. Loved the mango lassi and the kheer. What I really like about this place, the ingredients always taste fresh, and they don’t have a heavy hand with the butter, ghee and cream that is great in indian food when not overwhelming. This place is perfect for weeknight delivery or take-out. Say hi to the owner Kabir and chat him up, next time you feel like going for take-out.
