I order from Royal Curry about once a month — it is a great option since I live nearby and they are friendly and fast(usually 30 minutes for delivery). I’ve also gone in a couple of times for takeout and they give me something to eat while I wait. I’ve enjoyed everything I ordered, and I love that they load the order with lots of chutneys, cabbage, lentil soup, and rice pudding. Their portions are generous, too, and usually last a couple days.

The woman at the counter is an awful human being who called me a number of 4 letter names. This is not a neighborhood business and they do not care to be nice to people that live in the building that they are in… which you would think they would want to retain as customers. Do yourself a favor and don’t come here. So. Rude.

My roommate and I are appalled that this has a 4 star rating when I said that she said«no! It is the absolute worst!» I am writing this to help society– don’t order here– it is really bad. It’s not classic Indian food and you imagine it. Even the naan wasn’t good. The saag was brothy and oily like soup… it’s absolutely disgusting and I live above it. It would be so convenient if it were even decent food– ITSAWFUL. Trust us, don’t order here.

A hidden gem in Harlem… chicken tikka masala lunch is only $ 7.95 and worth every penny…

Tasty, comforting, and authentic! I go here about once every two weeks since I live right near it, and it has become a meal I look forward to. You have to try their garlic naan! It’s generously portioned and delicious. Also, last time I was there for carry out they were offering free tea, which made for a very pleasant wait! The only reason why I didn’t give their food 5* is because sometimes they skimp on the meat a bit in their dinners, but I usually am able to stretch the rest of the food to two meals.

I’ve had a few great experiences here — good lunch specials, a variety of menu options, certainly a spot for good Indian food around here. But unfortunately I had one experience recently that was disappointing when I ordered delivery, so much that I’d recommend just picking up from here, NOT ordering delivery. I live close by, and my apartment is easy to get to from Royal. But when the delivery person somehow got lost en route to my place, he did not bother calling my cell # that I provided with my order. Instead, he apparently just rode around for an hour with my food, until I had to call the restaurant to determine where the food was. I then gave clear, specific directions when the restaurant informed me that he’d ended up a few blocks away — but he still took another 25 minutes to arrive. What’s worse: I wanted to pay in cash, but the restaurant charged a credit card that they’d saved from a previous order, which I only discovered when the delivery guy arrived and asked me to sign for it. Lastly, when I finally ate my lamb curry, there were more bones than meat in it. Bummer.

Just tried it for the first time and was impressed. Not the best Indian I have ever had but was still good flavors and super fast! I walked in, ordered, and walked out in 5 minutes.

i got the curry chicken and garlic naan. flavor wise they are on point but the chicken was dry. i also ordered online from to have it delivered the next day for lunch how ever they showed up at my house around 11:30pm the same night kinda pissed me off. the price kinda sucks for the amount of chicken i got but i think i’ll give them another shot.

I just moved down the street from the Royal Curry so every so often I pick up some naan and samosas on my way home. The staff is very nice and always give me a serving of papadam while I wait for my fresh garlic naan. No re-heated naan here!

Fresh baked naan from a clay oven. You cannot beat that! Plus the family that runs it is so nice and sweet.

I live right around the corner so I always walk in or order for pickup. The food is always really tasty and fresh. It’s nice to be able to order real food for takeaway under $ 10. When it’s warmer out I pop in sometimes on my way to the train for some mango lassi. Plus the people who run the shop are always so sweet and friendly.

I just ordered from and had an hankering for Okra. Yesterday I had some Bhojan downtown and it was SO good that I needed even more tonight. I tried Royal Curry & Kabab on and was unimpressed with everything I ordered. The Okra was tasteless, watery, and just awkward. Really bad. I paid extra for buttered chicken and had to seek out the«good pieces» from the bad. I actually threw the naan away because it was so doughy. The entire experienced sucked. If you like Indian food don’t bother with this place.

Delivery took an hour and twenty. Store owner didn’t sound sad or anything about it. the delivery arrived and I was honestly patient and asked him what took so long and if he got hurt or something. He just said i’m here for delivery… Food was average. I’ve had much better indian food. It took so long that all the food was cold.

I have to say… not only was the food excellent as always tonight. But 30 minutes after the kindly old delivery man dropped off the food, we heard our buzzer again. The same elderly Indian man stubbornly stood out front while my roommate told him we hadn’t ordered anything else until we buzzed him in. He climbed the 5 flights of stairs and sheepishly handed me the tea I had forgotten that I’d ordered! When a place insists on delivering you the food you paid for – even after you’ve forgotten you ordered it? That’s service! PS. The tea’s really good. And still hot!

Great experience– delivery only. I ordered online: played it safe by getting Curry Chicken, Naan, and mango ice cream. The website I ordered from said 45−60min which bummed me out since I live 2 blocks away. On crutches or I would’ve walked. But to my surprise they actually called me! They told me they were out of the ice cream & listed other desserts(I chose rice pudding). Then said they’ll deliver in 20min. The gentleman who delivered didn’t know much English but was nice. And the food was soooooo good! Chicken was tender & omg– rice pudding looked diff from what I’m used to but was better than any other. I’ll def make this my go-to spot & maybe I’ll try other food options.

I ordered Chicken Mushroom, Chicken Chat and Naan Mint and tried their Mulligatawny Soup. All of the food was especially tasty and well prepared. The best of any delivered food I’ve had within this price range. I will definitely order again. Excellent quality and portions for the price.

Like the previous reviewer said, this place is better set up for take-out or delivery. You could eat there at the window if you wanted to, but it’s not what they’re going for. It is a family business and they are so nice and accommodating. The cook even handed me a spoon in the middle of cooking my food and asked me to try it to make sure it was the right amount spicy! They have also invited me to come behind and see the how the poori was made. You can tell they really take pride in their business. I’ve had delivery and the food is great and delivery is quick.

Decent food with a nice kick, but could get better Little family business in Central Park North. Small interior with a bar table that only holds 5 – 6 people to eat. I’d categorize this as a take-out place. The food is above average(relative to other Indian places I’ve tried…). I had the Chicken tikka masala with nan. At first, it doesn’t look appetizing because they plop it out of a buffet tray and they could be more generous with the food. However, it was really good. It’s very creamy with a nice spicy kick at the end. Pricewise, it’s only worth it if you use the display menu with pictures above the cashier. It has much cheaper food(chicken tikka masala for $ 6.95). The nan, samosas, appetiziers, etc. seem quite expensive for what they are. Credit cards are also supposedly accepted, but when I went, they were not set-up yet. This little restaurant opened earlier this week and so I’m sure there’s a lot of learning left to be done. I’ll be back in another month to see how it’s doing!
