I’ve been here quite a number of times, and I always have the best drinks here. My favorite is the green tea soy latte. It’s not too sweet, and when it’s iced, it’s super refreshing. I have also tried a few other things here(I just can’t remember what they’re called off the top of my head), but I have never had a bad drink. They have wifi, and plenty of seating. Convenient location, and delicious sandwiches.

I love the food and coffee here. It’s excellent. They have free wifi and lots of windows, so it’s a cheery, sunny atmosphere. Plus, you can’t beat the location, as it’s right in between the A, C, E and 1,2,3, in a nice area of the northern west village. So why 3 stars? I hate when people make a big deal over service, but I’ve been here many times, and the people are always so unfriendly that I finally had to put something up. Maybe the guy who works there in the mornings just isn’t a morning person, but it’s really unpleasant to interact with people who are grumpy and act exasperated early in your day. It makes me think twice about leaving a tip and all.

I am sitting in Soy Café as I write this review. A month ago I met a friend here for the first time, and since then I have been back many times with my laptop. The drinks and the food are good, and the environment is perfect for both catching up on «lost years,» or a digital date.

I always forget to review this place. I’ve come here sporadically since 2004. Originally, it was called Soy Luck Club, but I’m not sure what happened. Maybe someone sued. Was it you, Russel Wong? Damn you Russel Wong! *shakes fist* Anyway, the place hasn’t changed much over the years. They still have delicious drinks, sandwiches, and snacks to keep your belly happy. I’m really fond of the panini with egg, salmon, soy cream cheese, and scallions. I’ve tried a few other sandwich/panini options, but I always come back to that one. The drinks are great. Dirty chai, apple cider during cold months, a delicious assortment of teas, and no matter who was behind the counter, I was always served with a smile and even a little conversation. The space is small, but they use it very well. There’s usually a space to sit, and the music isn’t so loud that you can’t make conversation. There’s not a lot to say about this place other than I’m always happy to visit. The cost of the panini is a wee bit steep for my taste, but as an occasional treat, it’s okay.

Walked in this cute little café in Chelsea cuz I really needed to pee! Yes, even when not drinking over a gallon of water a day, I still pee every 15 – 20 minutes. Yikes! Anywhoo, the SBBF Brad C. ordered his first ever soy drink. I think he got the matcha green tea soy frappé. It was pretty soylicious and tasty in my opinion. We also grabbed an energy oatmeal cookie. It was seriously BOMB! Very moist, slightly chewy and kept us satisfied on our subway ride. Staff here is very friendly. And the place seems to be a regular spot for the folks who live in Chelsea. Such a cute area! Lucky bastards!

Excellent place to do work because of the mega-strong Internet connection. I don’t think anyone would have trouble finding a seat here since it seems like most people were getting their food to go. My rating is based upon my cup of soy chai latte, which was rather watery and expensive($ 4, seriously?). What didn’t help was the minimum credit card charge, too. But I justified the cost of drink for the free Internet. Also, my friend had a huge terrible stomach ache from a drink here. No worries for me though, probably because I have an iron stomach coming back from the third world.

Ehhh. I’m not vegan so this concept is lost on me. I do like the soy bean. I was raised on lots and lots of tofu. But these tofu options were accompanied by some good old fashioned cow pieces. That being said I didn’t enjoy my turkey sandwich on whole grain with green apple and Brie that much because there was essentially no flavor in the ‘wich. Even with the weak helping of mayo. The lentil chili is good and tastes pretty much like lentil soup. Their salads sound delicious and have very poetic names like ‘Harvest’ and ‘winter’ I might have to try that instead next time. They have a no cell phone policy, especially at the counter, and you’ll be scorned.

I like Soy a lot. The staff is hit or miss … sometimes you’ll get someone extremely friendly, and other times you’ll wind up with a barista who looks at you as if your very existence is a nuisance. But the food is consistently good. I get the Iced Lemon-Honey-Ginger almost every time I come here, along with those almond thumbprint cookies. My other recommendations: Breakfast: the smoked salmon, basil, tomato and soy cream cheese pressed bagel OR the organic granola Salads: Bliss, Summer, Autumn Soups: Three Lentil Chili(YUM) Crostini: Goat Cheese, Honey and Hazelnut — Hummus, Cucumber and Mind Sandwiches: Chicken, Avocado, Dill Cucumber, Soy Yogurt — Turkey, Apple, Brie and Honey Mustard Their crepes are good, but I’d sooner go to Golden Crepes, which is a few blocks away I’ve also heard from many people that the SoyaFrosts are delicious, but I’ve never personally had them.

great place to just chill and talk. they have really good sandwiches too, where they even cut the crust off the bread. YUM! and if you’re a tea fanatic, you definitely have to try their madame earl. smells like roses and tastes even better.

I went here today in my quest to find my favorite coffee shop in nyc. I really liked the ambiance. The warm colors of the café put me in a great mood and it feels very friendly. The chai was spicy, but with a pumpkin/applesauce flavor in it and kind of watery, maybe because I had an iced chai, but their other teas looked pretty good and I would definitely go back to check them out. Definitely go here at least once to try it. It is a great atmosphere and sometimes that can make you overlook the quality of the drink.

I’ve passed this place more times than I can count, always thinking it was one of those pretentious, over-priced cafes that are somehow able to stay in business all over this city. Yet, while running an errand for my boss, I had a half hour to kill before neighboring AC Gears opened; with nothing better to do except melt in the excruciating sun, I figured I’d give their lemonade a try. The lemonade was fine(nothing to write home about, but not too expensive), yet with a $ 4 minimum for credit cards, I found myself ordering one of their«small sandwich» options to raise my bill a bit. I chose a $ 3 mozzarella and tomato sandwich and decided to save it for lunch. It took the guy about ten minutes to make, but since I was in no hurry I appreciated the air conditioning. Hours later, when I opened my Soy sandwich excited for a healthy lunch, I found that the«small sandwich» was hardly a sandwich at all. Instead, it was literally a square of bread with a small tomato and a small slice of mozzarella on top. Maybe I’m crazy, but when I hear sandwich I’m thinking there’s at least two pieces of bread(and why did it take him ten minutes to lay a piece of cheese no a slice of bread?!). Needless to say, I was annoyed because I didn’t actually even want said sandwich in the first place. I’ll give it three stars because the staff was friendly and there’s air conditioning and free wifi. But as for their food, I guess I was right all along about this place being just another pretentious, over-priced café.

Don’t let the name of the place or the fact that they serve healthy, vegan-friendly items on the menu scare you. I purchased a Living Social deal for $ 15 for $ 30 worth of food. Here’s what we tried: 1. Green tea soy latte 2. Cappuccino 3. Chicken, Basil, Pesto, Tomato, and Swiss Panini 4. Chocolate Hazelnut Crêpe While the drinks were a little on the bland side, the food made up for it. The panini and crêpe were both really good. Overall, this is a cute little place located in Greenwich Village. If I lived in NYC, this would be a place I would definitely go to frequently.

Purchased a $ 50 gift card via Groupon for only $ 25, so I decided to check this place out. I ordered the organic hot coffee(self serve) and goat cheese, tomato, onion omelet served with organic mesclun and toast. Service and food r decent. hehe: P will go back again~

Checked this place out with a friend upon buying a $ 50 gift card from Groupon, and I can’t say that I’m impressed at all. Got the three lentil chili(vegan), side salad, and chocolate soyafrost– came out to be around $ 16, I think. Not that the food was bad or anything, but just nothing spectacular either. The soyafrost was kinda disappointing though– I loooove chocolate soymilk, so I thought I would be a fan, but it was just pretty boring(if not a little too sweet, as well). Cute interior in a cute neighborhood though, and at least the guy behind the counter was really nice. I also think they also have free wifi. Since I have about $ 25 left on my card, I guess I’ll have to go back sometime soon– perhaps the crepes will convince me to give this place a higher rating? (PS: I also saw a little kid get stuck in one of their chairs while the cashier guy awkwardly decided whether or not to lend a hand, haha– caretakers be warned about potentially kid-unfriendly seats!)

Officially obsessed with the mango soy lassi! Except today I was finishing up some work and needed a second drink(ruby sipper) plus one of those tasty raspberry almond butter cookies. The server completely forgot about me as I waited patiently at my table, he was apologetic but I was le sad, nevertheless. Nice atmosphere into the evening, with tables to spare despite the small space– good spot to work! *The ruby sipper is a nice iced tea drink for summer– be sure to squeeze some lemon juice in from the counter, though!

Purchased a $ 50 gift card via Groupon for only $ 25, so the bf and I decided to check this place out. Admittedly, it does feel a bit cramped inside, but overall, we enjoyed our experience here. We were full, but not stuffed. I ordered the organic iced green tea(SOSOGOOD!), while my bf got the mango smoothie(which he downed very quickly). We also ordered the turkey pesto panini and a salmon crostini… both were decent/A-OK(though I think my homemade turkey pesto sandwiches taste better. hehe: P). Also, love the little street it’s located on; there are a lot of cute little restaurants, cafes and boutiques nearby, so it’s a fun place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. And the best part? I still have $ 25 left on my gift card to go back! Would I want to come back here and pay full price for a meal? Probably not, but I would definitely come back for the drinks… sure beats Starbucks!

Aww, what happened with the name change? I think I liked Soy Luck Club better, but I guess Soy Café is more of a catchall. Anyway, on to the review… Great soups — I especially like the three lentil chili, but on a whole I don’t find the menu particularly creative or inspiring. With that said, I added star because I love the combination of figs and dates, and this is the only place so far where I’ve been able to find a fig and date crêpe. That made me happy. Friendly staff — the guys are always really sweet when it comes to making good recommendations, though I have to admit I didn’t really like the pumpkin soy drink very much. Too sweet. Free wifi, and quiet, comfortable atmosphere. If only they served soy ice cream too, then I’d probably bump up to five stars.

I was initially totally enamored with SLC’s menu. Everything looks original, and the combinations sound so tempting. My friend and I both ended up getting the ½ soup-½ sandwich option. I got the three-lentil soup and the smoked tofu, brie, pesto, and tomato panini. First off, the panini was really, really browned and [too] crispy. The tofu overpowered the other ingredients, and I could barely taste any pesto. The chili was good and very filling — nice flavors. My friend got curried chicken with tofu and soy mayo, which she said was good. It was on wholesome bread, as well. However, we were not impressed with the carrot, ginger, artichoke soup — not flavorful enough. The highlight of our meal were the soy soothers($ 3), which is just soy milk and flavoring. However, I highly recommend the pumpkin or honey+ginger. They *are* soothing and filling. There was a big gap between when my food and my friend’s food came out.(I think there were only two people working there.) Also, we were almost done with our food before the Soy Soothers came out. The chairs are fun — they are made of material that is like flexible rope, so there’s a bounce on your bum! Glad I went out of my way to try this place, but I’m not sure I would recommend it unless you were planning on staying a long time.

An excellent menu of both vegan fare and standard crêpe/panini/breakfast/coffee/tea items as well. Plenty of good laptop areas — after only three days in the city I’ve already been to far too many ‘coffeeshops’ where people are staking out spots with hawk eyes on the outlets. I went with the panini option, but will likely switch to crêpe next time around; it got too dry for my taste after the first half. Nice modern interior — cozy but with a good amount of seating for the weeknight crowd. The major theme seems to be ‘no cell phones,’ judging by the subtle but plentiful signs, which is nice but doesn’t really help when the two girls in the center table are going all on about their boyfriends at maximum volume.

The lentil chilli is hardy, spicy and just yummy served with toast points for dipping and cleaning your bowl. The honey and ginger soyafrost was neither too sweet nor too ginger-y aka perfection. The space is small but I snagged a table by the window on a blisterry day and enjoyed my warm chilli, cool soyafrost and watched the unfortunate souls battling wind and rain outside while I did some work and savored my lunch. Staff was friendly, made recommendations and brought me lunch when it was ready, with a smile.
