This place is underrated or under-the-radar or something. I live down the street and never was that interested in stopping by. But I finally did and really, really enjoyed my dinner. Then went back and enjoyed it again. I’d check it out if Mediterranean cuisine appeals to you. I’d def pick it over Moustache down the street. The food just had a freshness or lightness to the preparation I really enjoyed. It is a little place but obviously fine for a couple or small group.

I came here with my husband on a Friday night around 7pm, and it wasn’t very full. We got a nice corner seat, which was a great way to take in the romantic ambiance. They have a swanky cocktail menu, and they were also able to recommend a great dry white wine from Santorini. I’d definitely come back for a drink. In terms of food, some dishes were great while others were a little heavy or not as impressive for the price. The lamb triangles were definitely our favorite. The meatballs were too heavy in oil/spice and too pricey for the size($ 13). The zucchini fritters were also teeny($ 9). For dessert, we got the baklava, which was was spot on, but their espresso was way too bitter for us. The staff seemed a little standoffish, and I am not quite sure why. They were attentive but never seemed happy to be there. Smallest bathroom I’ve seen in NYC. Seriously.

I came here on a date. It’s charming, classy, trendy, yet unpretentious for a West Village joint. The food tastes fresh and clean(no excessive oils or greasiness). Our waiter was polite, fun, and privy to the fact that we were on this date so gave us just the right amount of attention. It was clear that he knew his wines, too, because he gave great recommendations. I had the yellow squash kababs and my date had the salmon kababs — both over a bed of quinoa — delicious! The ambiance was quaint and comfortable and romantic. Great choice for a date, or just meeting up with friends. Highly recommend this spot!

We have been there a number of times for dinner, it’s over priced for the food. To me, Greek is very simple so charging about average amounts of money for it doesn’t make sense. My partner also has been there to buy coffees in the morning and has encountered horrible service. Eye rolling after ordering a cappuccino? Really? My partner literally walked out because the guy was so reluctant to serve him. Not worth it.

Met some friends here for Brunch yesterday and fell in love with this quaint Greek Taverna. We had a corner booth along the front window. The service was attentive and warm. Now for the food, all six of us cleared our plates. The Bloody Marys were delicious garnished with huge olives. The lamb and eggs were delicious as were the chicken and lamb wrapped in filo. The lamb burger was also delicious. I highly recommend Snack Taverna if you are in the west village looking for a casual bite.

was exactly the scene i was hoping for while grabbing dinner with an old friend on saturday night. less rowdy than most places in the vicinity, a tad quieter, and really good eats. we both had the keo beers(light, refreshing) and shared the special kale salad and veggie moussaka. really yummy and filling eats. next time will try the small plates, spanikopita and zucchini fritters.

Just swung by for lunch after walking by it everyday. I had the lamb burger which was disappointing. I asked for medium and got well done. I also knew it didn’t come with tzatziki but it could of seriously used some on it to make it less dry. It came with a teaspoon of what was called greek cole slaw but it was really sweet and was basically a carrot salad. The greek salad was okay but why serve it with olives with the seed in it? I don’t think it improves the flavor, it just makes you have to spit out seeds while you are eating!

Loved the cappuccino oatmeal! Was like a breakfast I used to have as a child — nostalgic, tasty and filling… Service was friendly, funny and good. I’ll use the recently found ‘update review’ button when I hear back to snack taverna for lunch or dinner.

I really have nothing bad to say about this cute spot, except maybe that the bathroom is teeny tiny! Snack Taverna is located on one of the prettiest streets in the West Village. My boyfriend and I walked in on a weekend night without a reservation, but we were seated very quickly and even had our choice of two tables. We chose a corner table and had a really lovely romantic and intimate dinner. We each had a glass of wine, and I got the rosemary chicken while he had the lamb. We also got the Greek salad to start, which was so delicious! All of the ingredients were super fresh and there was just the right amount of dressing. It was a generous portion. I’m not a fan of lamb, so I can’t speak to that dish, but my chicken hit the spot. It came with chickpeas, raisins, and olives. This was also a generous portion and the chicken was perfectly seasoned and super juicy. It was probably the juiciest chicken I’ve ever had in a restaurant! The service was great as well. The wine and all of the food came out quickly, and we were checked on at the right times. I also liked that the restaurant isn’t trying to be too hip or too«Greek» with its décor. It had some black and white photos of the wall of who I’m assuming are Greek men, and big glass bottles and cans of olives(I think) on one wall. There were also mirrors all around, and almost every wall, if not every wall, was exposed brick. This really made the restaurant feel cozy and like a quaint, but classy, neighborhood spot. Totally unpretentious feel. It also wasn’t too loud and we were able to have a conversation and not shout to each other. We stopped in for an earlyish dinner, so I would maybe recommend making a reservation before going!

Exceptional, fresh Greek food! Love their Greek salad — more like a village salad with a huge piece of feta on top, no greens. Also had the sauteed calamari and tuna skewers, both delicious. Longacre cocktail of tequila and chartreuse was a hit, plus the Greek whites. My husband got a kick out of the pictures of Telly Savalas in the bathroom. They also have Snack Eos on 39th and 9th.

We stumbled on this place while walking in West village, it’s located in the cutest corner and they had tables at 330 on a Sunday for brunch. We started with the dips sampler. The stand out dish for us was the spicy feta spread. We also tried the fried cheese and it was good. For brunch we had the Swiss chard boureki, egg white and tofu scramble, poached eggs, lamb burger and a spicy scramble with feta and tomatoes. Everything was pretty solid. Our favorites were the boureki and the poached eggs with some kind of lemony hollandaise kinda eggy creamy sauce. My favorite Mediterranean brunch place is Kashkaval and this doesn’t come close. They have a lovely space and make a mean macchiato so no complains. We enjoyed our brunch.

We filed into a cozy corner booth after work, while Snack Taverna was still empty. Wine was flowing straight away; glasses of Sauvignon Blanc circled the table as we skimmed the menu. Saganaki was a no brainer, because if there’s one thing we enjoy more than wine, it’s wine and warm, fried cheese with a tangy finish. Then came the cold mezze — a sampling of dips and spreads that included a cool tzatziki, smoky melitzanosalata and bright, acidic taramosalata. Warm pita bread accompanied this trio, and while delicious, the bread became no more than a vehicle to consume as much taramosalata as possible. None of us could resist the temptation of shoveling as much of that fishy, bready spread into our mouths as possible. Our meal was all about sharing, even though our group was peppered with dietary restrictions — no meat, no dairy, no gluten. But that didn’t prevent us from finding plenty of dishes to pass around the table. Portobello, halloumi and artichoke skewers. Whole roasted branzino. Spanakopita. There was something for everyone, and each dish was as delicious as the last. At one point near the end of our meal, we looked up, and the empty restaurant that we had walked into just a couple of hours earlier was now bustling. Tables were full, the bar was crowded and waiters carefully maneuvered around tables and diners. Ours was certainly not the only table with wine anymore.

Always excellent here and seems to have got even better. Totally fresh Greek salad as good as in the old country, meatballs, and all the small plates wonderful and authentic. Nice modest wines too by glass or bottle. Very noisy tho /but mostly from loud mouth yuppies who feel compelled to cackle and howl at every provocation.

Did an online reservation thinking that this place will be packed on a Saturday night… but no! We were the only ones there! Too bad coz the food I ordered was pretty tasty. I had the pan-roasted chicken breast cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes they had on the side was the best I’ve ever had. Everything’s reasonably priced. Since no one else was around, we us the pleasure of choosing a table by the window. We had a sweet view of the people of west village which made the dining experience even more delightful.

A really good neighborhood gem with yummy menu and super funny and friendly staffs … love to have friends gathering here. The space is also comfortable and open. Their food is good from appetizer to entrees and the brunch is fabulously fresh too.

Although we know this is strictly for the non-Greek clientele, it’s actually worse than that. The food, besides being not authentic, isn’t even Greek and it’s so bad that I wonder how they have stayed in business. Bad. Odd. Bad flavours. Odd combinations. If you know nothing of Greek cuisine, this place will ruin any ideas you might have. And avoid the meatballs at all cost! I give three stars so that this warning of a review isn’t bypassed as anything but a warning to STAYAWAY! you have been warned

Had a reunion with two childhood friends after 14 years, and one of them recommended this place. The place was half-full at 6:00 p.m. on a Saturday evening, but it quickly filled up. The food: We ordered some seasonal appetizers, the lamb dish, the tuna dish, and the chicken dish. Boy oh boy was there a LOT of food for the main courses! The service: Pretty great. The facility: Adorable, classy, intimate. We had the corner table, so it was a little awkward getting in and out, especially since I sat in the middle between my two friends. But the corner table had the best view of the entire restaurant and the street. I could tell it started raining outside because I saw people walking around with umbrellas. Payment: One of my childhood friends insisted on treating us, so I can’t speak to if they take American Express or not. Fun fact: This place is just a few blocks away from the Friends apartment. I found this out a week after I left New York. I wish I could’ve gone! Overall: Highly recommend. I had a dream about two weeks later that I had the best red wine of my entire life here. I even dreamt that I wrote it down in a note on my phone. Sadly, it was just a dream(didn’t drink anything besides water there).

Cozy and romantic, this place offers solid Greek food, great ambiance and impeccable service. We came here for an early(5:30ish dinner) with no reservation. Our host hesitated about seating us which seemed a bit odd because the place was pretty empty at the time. However, within about 30 minutes it got totally packed and really appreciated the fact that they were able to accommodate us. We picked a dry Greek red wine and small plates to share. The wine was delicious as was our dinner. We had the spinach triangles, the Greek salad, and the shrimp trahana and veal meatballs. Everything was very good but the star of the night was the shrimp trahana!

Pros: Terrific special(off menu) — Papoutsakia Fresh branzino fish Zafeirakis red wine Melitzanosalata Cons: Fava beans were undercooked Fingerling potatoes with the fish were under seasoned Great lovely place in the village to have a meal and some wine. Good service as well. Didn’t feel rushed and was able to enjoy my meal. The Papoutsakia was the best Greek dish I’ve ever had.

Cute café with good food. The service was a little strange which is why I only gave it 4 stars. I had the chicken with feta and roasted vegetables«salad». It came with tzatziki and pita bread. No complaints regarding the food. Iced coffee was good as well. I would go back for lunch or brunch again. Make sure to make a reservation because this place gets crowded.
