It’s like good food truck food, but in a restaurant. As long as you’re not scared of running into swaths of drunken NYU students or shady-looking lingerers post-midnight, this place rocks for getting your late-night nom on between bars(or jazz clubs, in my case). Fast service, super cheap prices, and dependably-tasty pizza and gyro platters. I’ve spent many a night and day here before/after catching shows at Smalls, Fat Cat, or Mezzrow. FOOD — 4⁄5 I can always depend on Karavas’ food being warm, filling, and fast. Their pizza is extra cheesy, which I love. They also have great lamb and chicken gyros. I love the fact that they have epic amounts of garlic salt and crushed red pepper chained from the ceiling so no one swipes it. SERVICE — 5⁄5 No complaints. ATMOSPHERE — 3⁄5 It’s a no frills atmosphere, with a dingy bathroom and a $ 5 card minimum, but what can you expect? It gets the job done.

The only reason people come here are 1) It’s across from fat cat 2) It’s next to the subway station. You’re eating in a developing country and you’re paying 5-star prices. Do yourself a favor and go a block and a half to Bleecker or Joes. Your stomach will thank you.

I love this place! I have lived in the west village for a while and stop here every once in a while and am always happy. I’m boring and always just order the plain slice but it always satisfying and so big! Obviously they have a lot of competition with Bleecker Street Pizza and Johns Pizza(my absolute favorite pizza place in the city, but as a single girl in the city I can’t always eat the whole pie and they don’t sell by the slice). My favorite drunk food and guilty pleasure is their cheese fries. Basically it’s the perfect place to stop after a night out and basically attached to the subway station or great for a quick slice at lunchtime. The staff is always so kind to me. My best friend goes their practically 4 times a week and they have her order memorized.

My friend brought me here after we went to the Halloween parade and then a party. I love him forever for bringing me here. It was sooo good. I mean the best tziki(sp) sauce I’ve had, tasty lamb and warm soft pita bread. Oh n the line was out the door but the service was super fast. I will definitely be back. My only regret was not ordering 2.lol.

Stay away from this place. The pizza is horrible and taste like shit. The restroom is below standards how did they get a A rating they blow some one off. The night crew just don’t give a fuck. I never go to this place again. The best thing to happen to this place is burn the fuck down. And build a new high rise apartment. Over price shit to eat hope you chock on the money

Subpar pizza. Most of the clientele here are people who are drunkenly walking out of fat cat. Granted i was one of them i just overall did not like the pizza. Pretty tasteless. You can find so many good places to eat in the city i wouldnt waste my time here.

After a long day of hanging around Manhattan with some friends of mine, we wanted a quick bite to eat. So we figured why not get some of the wonderful $ 1 slices of pizza that NY is famous for. Literally pizza places on every corner but we randomly ended up here.(I should’ve checked my Unilocal first for a good pizza spot but I was so wrapped up and amazed at all Manhattan had to offer it slipped my mind until after the fact. Haha) I got a slice of pizza with grilled chicken and broccoli because you don’t see that every day. I also got a Perrier to drink, because that’s also not offered at a lot of resturants(at least not the ones I’ve been to). But the pizza was just okay, the service was just okay, and the ambience of the resturant was just okay. Nothing really«wowed» me or stood out as memorable about this place. I’ve also definately had better pizza right here in Hampton Roads. All in all I believe that 3 stars is suitable for this place. I’m not saying to not go to this place to enjoy some food, but I’m also not saying that you should rush to give this place a try.

Stopped at this place before heading to Fat Cat(across the street). It was… okay… Not very aesthetically-pleasing; desperately needs some updates and the condiment toppings(oregano, garlic salt, crushed red pepper flakes) were literally chained from the ceiling so you couldn’t steal them. Odd. But I digress. I ordered a plain slice which wasn’t that bad. My friend had a buffalo chicken slice and a Hawaiian slice which seemed to be okay, except on his first bite of the buffalo chicken slice he bit on a huge bone in the piece of chicken. That’s a first. Be careful. Too many better pizza places in the city to stop here again.

Granted it was 2:30AM on Tuesday(June 16) but I’m a nice person & there’s no need to be a complete asshole to a costumer who just wanted some plain old grape leaves. «Why don’t you get a sandwich» because I’m trying not to eat bread I say. «1 dollar a grape leaf unless you get sandwich!» I would have loved to cause a scene at this point, but I wanted to go listen to music at Fat Cat. Assholes.

After hanging out at Fat Cat I wanted some pizza and this was the first place you see when you walk out. You expect NYC pizza places to be consistent but this place… I asked for a cheese slice with olives but they said they don’t have plain cheese. Five minutes later a woman asks for the same and they give it to her. I got a cold, mediocre veggie pizza slice for $ 4.25. Do yourself a favor and go to two Bros or something.

This place was bad enough that I had to leave a review. If you want a cold pizza slice with a meat product on it for $ 4.25 after a night of drinking at Fat Cat, do come here. Otherwise, stay away. There are much much better pizza joints in West village.

Let me tell you, Karavas Pizza ‘n’ Pita is a godsend after a night on the town. The only way to make it here is by stumbling towards the subway station before seeing«Pizza and Pita» in bold white letters. Hungry from our adventures around West Village, my friends and I dropped in to Karavas for some grub. We split some onion rings and mozzarella sticks while my friend opted for a gyro. The place is somewhat of an American diner crossed with a gyro place. Whoever came up with that combination is a genius. The prices are very affordable, with a $ 7 gyro, and appetizers(onion rings, fries, etc.) between $ 3 and $ 8. Pizzas too are affordable $ 2 a slice plus more for toppings. The tables are stark and simple. The wait time is no time at all. There are no frills about this place, and that’s how I like it.

The only thing I enjoyed was the bottle of water. I was in the area for work and didn’t want wait on line at bleecker street pizza. This was some of the worst pizza I’ve ever had damn near tasteless minus the bbq sauce on the pie. The chicken was dry and has no seasoning to it. I think most places are great after a night of partying in the city but would avoid this place still.

Worst pizza I’ve had in the city. The crust was a nice texture but totally flavorless and at $ 2.50 for cheese and a whole dollar more per topping, very much a rip off. I am sure they are only still in business because of the drinking crowd.

Accept this place for what it is(a greasy hole-in-the-wall), and you’re fine. I’ve been in several times over the years, but only ever on my way to or from a neighboring bar. Grab a pepperoni and sausage slice and a bottle of water, and you’ll never have another hangover again. It’s a little pricey, but the pizza is good and it’s in prime real estate, so it’s not too bad.

Stumbled into the place looking for something to snack on while I played scrabble at Fat Cat’s and was pleasantly surprised. The pizza wasn’t the cheapest I’ve ever found in Manhattan but hey…$ 2.50 for 2 slices + $ 3 for fries isn’t bad. The fries didn’t look good at first but they tasted great. Service was quick too. Pretty cool spot.

Ghetto place with high prices because people are drunk. Terrible. If you are sober enough to find a different place then do so.

We stopped in for a late night slice after bar hopping the pizza did not disappoint and the guys were speedy to get us fed. If you are in the Village and want to grab a slice you could do worse. I like a good late night slice.
