Great atmosphere and music had a blast. drinks are a little pricey but some bar tenders are not cheap with the liquor. I recommend this place for birthdays and hangout nights a group of friends.

Hubby and I came here after purchasing a groupon… the bouncer was a gentleman and let me enter after forgetting my ID at home. The ambiance was very sexy, definitely a nice place to take that special someone out on a date. There wasn’t much of a crowd which was good, we arrived around 7pm and left around 10pm. The food was great for appetizers hubby and I shared the tandoori chicken on a flatbread and general tsos chicken which was extremely tasty. The only reason why I would not give this place 5 stars is because the drinks are rather pricey about $ 16 for each specialty drink. We would definitely come back for another date night!

Place sucks. I guess its good if you are into an extremely«low class», «out-of-towner», or «I think its Miami circa 1985» vibe. This is where people who don’t know where to go go if they think they are showing off to other people who have no idea what a good lounge is. I probably would have loved it when I was underage. Prepaid pitchers of drink mix.check.weird security checkpoints, wrist bands and bouncers… check. Tacky dark rooms with neon lighting… check

I’ve been there 3 times, due to friends having birthday celebrations. I’ve left all three times. The DJ plays top 40 music which isn’t bad, but they mix horribly. Drinks are strong, kind of pricey, but as expected. The line is always so long(even if you stay at the hotel) and it leads to two very small lounges. The last time went with a promoter Amar(or something like that) COMPLETEJERK, TRIEDTOGETOVERONMYFRIEND. promised her 4 bottles for $ 200, after 2 hours of nothing that changed to one bottle for $ 275 and he’d cop another one. At the end he got us nothing, and we spent $ 800 on 2 bottles.

Have been here twice. The music, service, ambiance were all good, but I’m not a fan of their drinks. Last time we came in for a large group party and they offered us drinks deals. At the beginning of the event, we were charged $ 11 for a glass of wine. Then I switched to cocktails because I’m not paying $ 11 for a glass of not-so-good wine, but the cocktail I got was awful — I only tasted the syrup. Later on, we found that some other friends got the same glass of wine with only $ 7 from the same bartender. Seriously? 2 days later, my husband found that we were over charged $ 10 on our credit card of our first wine order. So beware and always check your credit card balance! Oh and also — $ 3 for coat check? Maybe you should only come here during the summer.

Okay, first of all … What’s going on with the low Unilocal rating !?? I had a great night tonight with bunch of friends celebrating bdays and we had a blast !! Waiter and bartender are really nice and bathroom is really clean, we had all roof top covered Terrance is exclusive for our party. If I must say something negative … $ 3 mandatory coat check is really expensive, but I would not complain anything else !

BLUF: Great view, but there are better roof top bars for a much better experience. Also, unless the night I attended was an anomaly, the clientele seems very heavily African American. I do not mean this is a negative sense at all, just that my dad heard of this bar from the hotel concierge and it was not what we expected at all. As an Asian American youngster with a middle aged father, well, we didn’t quite blend in. My dad, who was visiting me in NYC for the first time in a while recommended we visit the Sky Room as he had heard about it from his hotel service and was offered a VIP pass or something, complimentary of the hotel, so we decided to check it out. I was in Sky Room for perhaps 15 minutes and did not have much of a good impression. The bouncers and the ushers seemed more interested in «staring» at the patrons than assisting with moving the line along and were quite rude. While the bar tries to act«upscale», which is reflected in its prices, the liquor and plastic glasses sure don’t support that notion. The two stars are for its view. It is right off of Times Square and has a great lookout over the streets of NYC for you to get a quality touristy feel. The bar is quite large with multiple layers but was still extremely crowded while I was there. If you want to stop in for a quick drink and take an Instagram picture for your first visit to the city, by all means, go ahead. But as a local, I will be steering far away from here from now on.

My wife threw me a surprise birthday party at this venue on a Saturday night. There was quite a line up front but we skipped it since she had a table reservation. This two floor lounge has absolutely stunning views. We had a group of roughly 20 people and our final bill was actually pretty reasonable considering what NYC bottle prices usually are. The music was great, the people were very well dressed and the service was excellent. The end of the night came around and they ended up charging one of our guest’s credit cards. A bit embarrassing for us and unfortunately, we weren’t able to resolve it over the phone over the next few days(they never called me back after multiple messages being left). No big deal I guess, that’s why we have paypal/quickpay/venmo, right?

Came here for Halloween with my friends and had such a great time! This rooftop has such a breathtaking view of NYC. The place has two separate floors. The bottom floor was more loungy with seats everywhere and the top rooftop was more of the club scene with the DJ playing. The bartenders were awesome and one of them gave me a free drink for my creative costume. The music was really good — we danced the entire night! Will come back soon and see if it’s good on a regular weekend as well.

DON’T WASTEYOURTIME! The DOORMAN did not want to let my cousins party in although she had reservations for her birthday that night. The reason why is because upon entering the line for the club, I stepped over their dirty«velvet rope» and the DOORMAN exclaims that«that is against the rules» I told him I had no idea that stepping over the rope when no one in line was against the rules. He proceeded to be nasty with me and decided to label me as drunk. –Which I wasn’t. So from here on out he already made up his mind that we were«never getting in» because I back-talked him basically. He decided to yell«Security! Security!!» Really implying as if we were getting belligerent. Totally uncalled for. When my cousin tries to plea with him that it was her birthday that night and how some of her friends were already inside, he tells her«Well, now your birthday is ruined thanks to her» gesturing over to me. …What an asshole! Most people who have reviewed this place have all said that the fools who run this establishment are RUDE, and yes they are! I will always deter anyone who tries to come here, so I can save them from the b. s that comes with trying to have fun at a place who doesn’t know the first thing about running a «club».

Came for a birthday party– we had bottle service and our names were on the list… but the wait was still over 20 minutes. Music was decent, just keep in mind that the space here is very small/narrow even though there are two levels. There is a great view and you can see the Empire– it’s beautiful! If you thought that the line to get in was long, get on line for the bathroom… I suggest going to the one of the lower level, less of a wait for sure. Best part of the night is that the bottles come with a glowing light– that was pretty cool! Overall, great view but very typical over cramped rooftop in Manhattan.

I know Unilocal and Unilocalers love this cocktail rooftop bar and lounge so I’m probably going to receive a lot of flack for writing this and for it being such a belated review but I deemed it was finally necessary after seeing so many praises for it. The management and staff here is atrocious. My good friend was hosting his 30th birthday here back in May. He had a section of the lounge area set up for us with bottle service. Naturally, I arrived pretty late into the festivities. The view is beautiful and that is about it. I’ve also seen better and less obstructed views. Drinks are over-priced but whatever. Since I had train delays he thrusted a glass of vodka in my hand and told me to help myself to the buffet of tonic seltzer, cranberry, and orange juice pitchers. I had one drink because things quickly turned ugly. I only was able to stay here for about 30 minutes unfortunately and the following is a brief synopsis of what happened. The birthday boy’s girlfriend unknowingly to the rest of us got very sick.(Puking in the ladies bathroom) She had only two or three beverages but sometimes that is all it takes for some people(Something I will never understand in any lifetime) and she was being attended to by a friend. After hearing something was wrong I went to go find out where she had gone. I finally came upon them. A little woman well under 5 feet tall is trying to hoist up someone that is basically Ingrid height tall. The staff are yelling at her to get herself out or they will call the cops. They had no care or concern for the girl’s health but kept threatening that they were calling the cops and wanted his entire party to leave immediately. Meanwhile, this really short girl is yelling back that she can’t even carry her friend out of the place. This was my queue where I intervened and dragged the drunken lady out of the lounge and helped hail down a car. It was pretty despicable and unnecessary though for the situation and especially since these people paid a ton of money for a birthday celebration and bottle service.

NONONO. It’s a hotel below it, so you have people coming up just to relax. If you’re expecting a club or bar, you’re wrong. It seems more like a lounge for people from the hotel to chill. The age group varies from 21 – 80. There an old couple drinking and watching the game on the TV, and then a bunch of kids(they looked way too young but I guess they were 21 if they got in) by the bar chugging beer. Upstairs were people from 25−50s dancing. Age is not a problem, I’ve just never been with such a diverse crowd. The music was radio music. Don’t get me wrong, great songs. But not what you expect from a club. The bathrooms were unisex, I don’t know if this is the best idea for a bunch of drunk people. Wifi sucks. It was what I was relying on to stay alive in this thing. Service sucked. Only thing that was a plus was they had alcohol.

I understand that most people don’t like their job. We work to live, not live to work. However, that attitude shouldn’t show while you’re working. Almost every person we encountered seemed miserable, grumpy, and very unapproachable. It’s especially unfortunate that they tried to make this place so exclusive and pretentious that you need to go through a million people and doors just to get to the rooftop bar – which means encounter a bunch of very stand offish workers. While the drink servers were much more cheerful, I was unimpressed with this place. The view is nice, but I could get that view from a much more pleasant atmosphere. In late September, their rooftop was hot and required a fan. The food tasted like it came straight outta a frozen package. Wouldn’t recommend this place, and wouldn’t come back.

Checked out this place during a Unilocal Elite event and it’s definitely a 3.5* in my books! The view was nice, weather was nice. Solid 3.5 stars. Had a chance to come here for a Unilocal Elite event. The mood is surprisingly somber for such a gorgeous place. A lot of it had to do with the DJ and the sound system. Both were good but not top notch. And that really plays into the liveliness of the atmosphere. Such a shame to see so many negative reviews for for such a beautiful venue. The place offers 360 views of the city, gorgeous seating areas, and white canopies. If the place fails because of it’s patrons, then perhaps the best move is to up the exclusivity to keep out the riff raff. In a city with so many options, racing to the bottom is never a good idea. Be selective of the guest list, bring in some dynamic djs, revamp the menu, and up the prices(don’t hate me fellow Unilocalers). Perhaps the best time to visit is right after work, before the madness starts, to get a beautiful view of the sunset over the hudson! Update: Ok, so this review is a year late, but better late than never. I got to come here again for Unilocal and still really like this place. so come check it out!

One of the below comments really captured how I felt«There are many great rooftop bars in the city. Sky Room isn’t one of them.» My friend and I were both not impressed by how pretentious the place was. The security staff were really quite rude and I did not like how they talked to us. For a place that is trying to exude exclusivity and upscale-ness, I really was not impressed by the plastic glasses and champagne flutes. I’ll give it the view, because once you’re that high up, it’s really hard to get it wrong. Also, we chatted briefly in the elevator with a hotel staff and he was nice, but all in all… def would not come back.

The experience doesn’t live up to its name. I came here for my friends 21st birthday, and my few friends and I who came together opted out of doing bottle service with the birthday girl and her friends. We had to pay a $ 20 cover charge, which was shocking. The waiting area looked like a hotel basement, unattractive and a bunch of people who were scattered waiting to get into the lounge’s one single elevator that took years to go up and down. For the incredibly long and unnecessary line that developed by the elevator, the place itself was absolutely empty at 11 pm. Drinks were approximately $ 15+ which after 2 or 3 drinks, we realized turned out to be more expensive than an equal split if we did bottle service. The DJ seemed to be taking a break for about a few hours because he played horrible music until about 1 am. The bathrooms were individual meaning 2 individual bathrooms for women and 2 for men, which by the way HADNOLOCKS. The bouncer had to make sure no one was leaning against the doors to prevent occupied bathrooms from opening. Unbelievable. The side we were on felt like a hallway. It was so small, and our table was directly next to the DJ booth which was also connected to the hallway waiters came back and forth getting drinks. I was constantly in the waiter’s way even though I was standing in between the bar and our table.

As always before I go anywhere, I read the first five reviews and know what to expect before venturing out. Yes, i know, we all have different expectations and experiences, but typically you get a good feel. Basically for Sky Room it was described as an expensive rooftop lounge, that shared a space with a hotel, had some awesome views of the NYC skyline, NYC has better Rooftop Lounges to offer… Well, they all turned out to be on point. I arrived around 7:30 and had a relatively short wait. As security scans my ID, he informs me it’s expired. Yes, I was too lazy to renew and it expired two birthdays ago. Security tells me if i give him $ 20, i could go in. I’m not pleased, but give it to him. Now the guard and hostess inform me the cost is $ 20 because I did not RSVP, but my friend had put me on the list!!! I’m now peeved because I am down $ 40 and didn’t even get in yet. I wait on líné for the elevator to the 33rd Floor and head in. As i walk in i see the bar and a few patrons, but not such a great view. I’ll skip ahead to about an hour later when I decided to get something to eat. I opted for Bruschetta, idk why, but i did. Also, I had a Ciroc Red Berry($ 31 total) expensive, but what could I do. The bartender was a bit rude and allowed múltiple people to skip me and conversed with a young lady as she may have been his friend. Either way, that was unacceptable. The drink was ok, the Bruschetta was not, but again, I should have ordered somethjng else. The crowd was a bit all over the place, I saw a dude in sweat pants, women were dancing wildly and on the couches. Totally not my cup of tea.

There are many great rooftop bars in the city. Sky Room isn’t one of them. Sky Room is located above Fairfield Inn, right across the street from the Port Authority – the armpit of NYC. While they try their hardest to be a trendy and exclusive lounge, it’s just not working. It shares the lobby of Fairfield Inn filled with tourists and is just separated by a line control tape, which wasn’t even a velvet rope. So why was I there, you ask. I made my way through the tourists, druggies and prostitutes to this dreaded part of town for a dear friend’s birthday drinks. Otherwise, I would not be caught dead willingly hanging out by Port Authority. First and foremost, the«dress code” – if you can even call that – is very subjective and apparently only applies to men. While women can apparently wear whatever the heck they wanted including denim cut-off shorts and tank-tops, men were required to wear«business casual», which in Sky Room’s definition apparently includes jeans and t-shirts. However, button-down, collared shirt with nice, tailored shorts and boat shoes – quintessential East Coast preppy summer outfit – is not. Also, the«rooftop” – is an awkward space made up of two skinny terraces separated by the bars, kitchen and restrooms, and connected by a narrow passage shared with the waitstaff(collision waiting to happen.) While I understand that rooftop bars command higher prices, $ 15 for a tiny shot of Fireball was a bit too much. No, thank you. I will gladly shell out the $$ at a classier joint, but not at the Sky Room. Long story short, any rooftop lounge in NYC is better than this. Even 230 Fifth. Avoid Sky Room if you want to have a good time without attitude at the door and getting overcharged once you are upstairs crammed into the narrow, awkwardly designed space.

Wow what a view! I live already on the 30th floor and getting addicted to the NYC skyline and mesmerizing view. BUT the view from the Sky Room… I am speechless… It feels you have just entered the Matrix… perhaps we are… You just have to come and see it for yourself. The bar is narrow and long, it has two levels and separate sections. The style is modern boutique, the lightening at night is sexy dimmed. This is a place to go for a date, with friend/s, for chilling out and getting inspired. I came here to see a fashion show and it was fun. Yes I certainly will come here again and recommend it to everyone.
