I had been going here for years. Always had a great time bringing in a group and renting a private room. Our most recent trip there was a bust. Technical difficulties everywhere. One of the screens kept on going off. Lyrics for many of the songs were not synced with the music. When we reported our difficulties to the staff, we were told that the song is broken. No attempt by the staff to make it up to us. Looks like we’ll be choosing a new spot for karaōke nights in NYC.

There’s a reason this is named after a prison. I’m just kidding-I actually hate karaōke so I’m a biased reviewer. Place was clean and staff was attentive. I didn’t like that when you were in the hall you heard a combination of all the songs from every different room(I guess I assumed the place would be sound proof?). Definitely need to update their song list though, nothing from the last year or two.

Initial spot was supposed to be Duet 48 around 9ish but the wait was over half an over. Took a Lyft down into St. Marks for Sing Sing after calling them and being told there was no wait. A room for 8 – 10 was ridiculously small. Quite disappointed. You could barely have two people walk alongside from one side of the room to the door… And… there was a hole in the couch… –__– Like I don’t know how it could happen unless you took a hammer and bashed at it… But aside from the furniture and room size, the listings of songs were pretty good. $ 8 an hour for Friday night. After an hour, a guy came in to let us know but we weren’t done and asked for another 30 minutes which they were totally fine with it. And ohh. requires an ID and a credit card to be held by the Hostess. Pretty wild and loud crowed in the lounge section. Will come back, and hopefully the couch won’t have a huge hole.

If you think you’re that bad at singing and want to seclude yourself from society so that no one witnesses that monstrosity of a duet you have going with yourself, they offer private rooms. If you’re husband yells at you to shut up, or your dog rolls his eyes every time you sing a duet by yourself, you have a good option here. Kidding aside, They do have a lot of variety when it comes to music selection, but they charge you every time you want a song, no free songs even if you’re consuming, which is a bummer. It’s a good choice if you’re in the neigborhood and are willing to pay. Overall, it’s just an OK place in a great location. The weird part for me(and this is just my experience) was that in our tab, the bartender added a 20% included gratuity even over the songs we selected. I found that weird. Paying 20% gratuity over songs selected? What do you think? Is that common?

Good place to sign with friends in private, had a lot of fun… music library is huge. The place and rooms however are a dump… felt like I needed a shower afterwards. White people trying to sing gangster rap is also a bit of comedy bonus, so hang out at the main bar long enough and you might get lucky!

LOVETHISPLACE! This is the type of place you come to with all your friends after having drinks to have even MORE drinks and sing out loud with no judgement. I have so much fun being able to sing and just have everyone cheer me on and just be silly with your friends! They are cash only unless you are renting a room!

You know how I know Sing Sing has turned to shit? Last time I went there were a total of about 8 Asians inside and I think most of them were employees. It is called Sing Sing, located on St Marks, and is known for karaōke. With that combo you should expect an Asian Invasion. I love karaōke as much as the next tone deaf white boy but you can certainly tell a place has gone downhill when regulars stop going. It didn’t used to be like this. We came for my friends birthday and they packed 14 of us into a room meant for 8. Can someone say fire hazard? We ended up rotating people in and out of the room. All while there was another room that definitely could have accommodated us. Also the sound quality on our karaōke machine was quite sub-optimal. I am pretty sure my handheld shower speaker put out a louder and more crisp sound than this broke ass system. I am giving them 2 stars because when drunk you kind of forget about all the stuff mentioned above and it is a fun and different activity to do with your friends. I just think there are better options around the city than this.

I loved the atmosphere in this place. So laid back and non pretentious! I went with a couple of friends and we decided not to rent a room and hang out in the bar area instead, where we got to have yummy drinks and sing and enjoy amazing karaōke singers! We felt like we got to experience a private concert with all the amazing voices around us. The drinks are good and not overpriced. I will be definitely be going back!

Not a bad place to karaōke. It was pretty cheap, $ 8/person/hour and they were able to get us into a room quickly. They are kinda pushy about the tip, which I wasn’t appreciating. It was pretty crowded and a very small space. Even the private rooms were pretty small unless you had a large group.

We came in at 3am and the bartender said there are no more song requests when they close at 5:30am… we promptly left.

I guess if you really like karaōke, this is a relatively convenient place to go. However, the room I got put in with my group was super sketchy. The minute we walked in, we all looked at each other and were a bit confused because the room didn’t look well-kept and there was patches of chipped paint. It was a corner room all the way down the narrow dark hallway. I was able to peek into other rooms and they looked a lot nicer, so I’m guessing we just drew the short end of the stick. We also didn’t make a reservation ahead of time, so that may have factored into it. What I didn’t like about the place was that there weren’t a lot of drink options. They don’t have hard liquor and really just mainly have an assortment of beers, sake, and soju. +1 star for the surprisingly clean bathroom. I normally make it a rule not to go to the bathroom at a bar until a point of desperation. However, I was actually very impressed at how it seemed much cleaner than the karaōke room we were put it.

Had the BEST, unexpected time here. A group of friends and I randomly decided to go to karaōke(on a Tuesday) after dinner. Stumbled in and the main bar area was packed. Note: you can either sing in the main bar or private room. The five of us were able to book a room — $ 40 for one hour. It’s a steal(I think we even went over the hour). The room itself is nothing to look at — pretty rundown to be honest but whatever — we were there for the singing! Large spectrum of music, but the remote control was a little tricky. Either way, no voice and lots of videos and snapchats later — all around great time.

DON’T GOTHERE!!! THECUSTOMERSERVICEWASSOFREAKINGBAD!!! We had a open tab and the host decided to stop our tab and blame it on the waiter. Remind you he never asked us if we wanted to stop the tab! He rushed in the room and demanded that we pay the bill. Never in my life has anyone yelled at me besides my mother. We was simply trying to discuss the bill and he told us we was taking to too long and that he would charge us more if we don’t hurry up. We was the only black people in there and I he was being racist towards us and to top it off he charged us more then what the bill was suppose to be. DON’T GOTHERE! SAVEYOURMONEY! They ARESORUDETHERE. Why should I be treated with disrespect. Now he look like a asshole because he lost out on money stupid fuck! He ROLLED his eyes at us as we debated the tab and called us «you people» which is very disrespectful! also called us monkeys! He then called us «Niggers» and called us «Spics» and refused us service. Should we start to become accustomed to crimes against our race? In a time of such social injustice, What kind of customer service is this for erroneously charging us and making a mistake on our time for our room because we are BLACK!

There is a main bar area where you can pay per song and sing with a bunch of rando groups of people, which could be fun, if that’s you’re thing. If you come with a good group of people who prefer a more private affair, then you can request for a room. They lead you down a dark narrow hall with bright red lights — seriously, it was creepy. Then they open one of the black doors that open up into private karaōke rooms, complete w/lounge seating, tables, TV, karaōke machine, mics, a drink menu, and a button to buzz a server to your room. They have a wide variety of songs, from Lady Gaga to Common to Taylor Swift, definitely something for everyone. There isn’t a lot of room to dance around or stand when you’re in the smaller rooms, but it is fun to sit, drink, and sing together without having to feel uncomfortable with larger crowds or random people. It’s a little pricey when compared to other karaōke bars in Ktown, when it comes to karaōke and drinks but it seems to be the best choice in the East Village.

Decent sized private rooms, clean bathrooms, fast service, BYOF(bring your own food). Our small group had a good time here, but we did come relatively early in the evening(7−10pm). We ordered several bottles of Sake and beers and our bill came out to about $ 40 per person — not terrible. I haven’t tried this place for late night karaōke-ing so can’t really speak to the service and attention during the late late nights or early mornings. Also, I’m mixed about the bring your own food policy — on the one hand i think it comes out cheaper, especially if you hop over to 2 Brothers Pizza for a $ 1 slice. On the other hand, that means someone or multiple people from your party have to leave the fun in order to eat. I wouldn’t go out of my way to karaōke at this place, but if you’re in the area this is a decent place to karaōke if you come by early enough to snag a private room.

Had a really good, sort of memorable, snapchat-regret-worthy night here. The bartender was great, the tunes were better, and the East Village did not disappoint.

This place barely had room to squeeze in on a Friday night(let alone get drinks), a ridiculous wait to sing(literally 2 hours!), and no stage to speak of(the current singer walks around with a mic). We stayed five mins, couldn’t get a beverage and then ditched this place for Karaōke St. Marks across the street — you should do the same!

Stumbled here while bar hopping with friends and I must say that this is a pretty vibrant place. I enjoyed the karaōke and their lychee martini is the best. $ 2 a song and everybody vibes with you. Staff is nice and friendly as well. Really looking forward to coming back here.
