LOVE this place! It’s a small bar in the front, but when you go to the back behind the curtain is when the magic happens. The piano man was amazing, he definitely helps out the singers who needs it but just made it SO fun. Cocktails are good At this place but mostly the atmosphere is just so fun. We stayed all night!

Over the years NYC has lost many of the fun restaurants and bars to more corporate venues that lack character. Sid Gold’s brought it back! Fun, fun, fun! Easy to meet people who are there to get in front of the mic and belt out a song. The drinks are generous and the live music is often performed by talented Broadway performers who have a night off. Sid’s has a stage, a piano player and one of the best atmospheres in the city. Hope they are around for many years to come.

Incredible!!! They can play anything on the piano and the atmosphere is unbelievable. Drinks are great too. I’m coming back here every time.

Ummmm… heck yeah!!! My friend and I decided to visit this bar in December for happy hour. Omg!!! So much fun!!! A glass of wine was around about $ 7 or $ 8,pretty reasonable. As a meal, I got one of the pizzas which was ultra yummy. My friend got a salad which was delicious! Service was excellent! The owner was tending the bar and was super warm, pleasant and friendly. My friend and I continued to throw back wine, and we ended up staying for the karaōke portion of the night which happened in the back room. There was a pianist and everything! It wasn’t packed, so we were able to go up and sing a FEW times! A little Brittany Spears«Baby One More Time» piano version sealed the deal! I can’t wait to go back!!! :)

This place smells like vomit! People are firmly lodged up their own backsides and horribly rude.

Really cool spot with fun cocktails + food. 100% worth going for a show or karaōke, along with some snacks. The venue interior is v. Instagrammable, and you can watch the show from the piano.

Totally legit! You never know who you will run into — the piano player is wonderful as he plays when people head up to sing :)

Did someone say karaōke… live piano karaōke?! That’s right this bar/performance space has it and killer live shows from local artists. You can also grab a bite to eat from their somewhat small but delicious menu of starters, pizza, and salads. The staff is really friendly and great behind the bar. The space has a small casual seating area and a good sized bar. Plus, the performance space which has full tables for bigger parties and is full service with food and drinks.

I’m an introvert. People who know me are now laughing their asses off right now, but I really am! One quick cure of that is to get up on stage in front of a crowd of strangers and sing badly. Here’s the thing that makes a piano karaōke bar the best thing ever… the crazy supportive atmosphere. From the pianist to the audience, if you start floundering they will save you. The best songs are the ones where everyone gets to join in on the chorus. There’s zero pressure to perform, but if you do… High fives abound! The skill level is a great mix. And what you don’t have in skill, you can easily make up with alcohol. The pours have gotten better, thank God, so my brokeass can still make a night of if for well under 50 bucks. But don’t forget to bring cash to fill up the jar! The microphone may not smell like a beer, but if you sit at the bar, put bread in the jar and say, «Man, what are you doin’ here?» I’m stealing Julian’s schtick, but I’m sure the King of Banter doesn’t mind. I usually come for Julian Velard’s session on Wednesdays 9pm — 1am, but I need to start coming more than once a week. There are other performers in rotation and Joe McGinty’s playlist is turning into the Magna Carta. Seriously, look at it:
I would never judge you for clicking on the link and practicing before hand. Just don’t listen to Aretha Franklin’s version of «Bridge Over Troubled Water». Don’t do it to yourself. That’s just cruel. Of course Billy Joel is on the playlist, but so are Wham! and Madonna. If you can manage Borderline, you’re my hero. I have never failed to have a great time here. Never. Piano karaōke is AWESOME.

If you read nothing else keep in mind the karaōke is of a six-star quality but the food deserves three stars because it was both middling and pricey and the service was basic because even though our food was brought out in a timely fashion, it took half an hour to obtain my bill even though I had asked twice, gotten up once to ask and all around noticed that the one server present was just slammed. Also, keep in mind that while Happy Hour is from 5pm to 7pm, karaōke, at least on Wednesdays, began at 9pm. That being said, the drinks were unparalleled so even at $ 13 a pop, I did not regret the purchase. The karaōke in the back of the house is an incomparable experience. A group of friends and I attended a few Wednesdays ago to warble along to the piano stylings of Julian Velard. The back room of this venue has a movie-like set quality about it and although I did not make my way to the microphone, regardless of singing talent, those who made their way to the microphone looked like superstars. My group of friends had a lot of energy and the emcee was not at all taken aback by the fact that we hijacked some of the other groups’ songs due to low energy. The back room was an environment welcoming to both the professional and amateur singers and while I wish to return to karaōke, I shall drink and eat elsewhere before I attempt to do so.

Well, I miss Tilman’s, but business is business. The place is still beautiful and now instead of seeing live shows, you can see yourself and your friends as the main attraction.

This was a fun piano bar hidden in Chelsea. There’s a full bar in the front and a piano man in the back. I had the malted shake which was delicious and had fun singing New York State of mind. It was definitely a fun night and I hope to visit this place again.

Sid Gold’s Request Room is the greatest. The bar is perfect, the lounge room… also perfect. And Joe McGinty is the most congenial and talented pianist you will ever dream of drunkenly crooning next to.

This week’s fashionplate transports us back to a bygone era of 50 years ago and piano bars. Sid Gold’s Request Room is an old school yet updated piano bar in the old Tillman’s space in Chelsea. Decided to grab some drinks and a snack with a friend here and I started with a Ketel Soda and he got a cocktail with Singani 63. Being a Tuesday night it was not too crowded and their were some interesting characters singing which was quite entertaining. It was a mix between young and old but everyone seemed to be having a great time. We then ordered clams casino and mac & cheese which were yummy and ordered some French 75s made with SIngani 63 which was very good. The bartender was also very nice and funny. See how I paired my Jane lace skirt for the fashion part of the fashionplate.

Karaōke like nothing you’ve experienced before. Beyond the front bar is a grand piano, a genius accompanist(Joe McGinty, once of the Psychedelic Furs!), and a roomful of singers waiting to belt out heartfelt versions of everything from«Killing Me Softly» to CeeLo Green’s «Fuck You.»(Both were enthusiastically received by an appreciative audience.) McGinty has a giant binder of lyrics if your memory needs a boost. His song list offers something like 300 tunes that tend toward pop, as opposed to standards(although there’s plenty of variety). The service is affable, and the décor is retro-cool. A great choice for a night out with friends – or strangers.

Looks like another new place that has lost its appeal quickly. Feels more like a college bar vs a lounge. Waitress told us we could sit at a table and the manager came by later and kicked us out to seat a larger party. No hospitality. As a piano bar, it makes no sense to keep the music blasting in the main bar, so we couldn’t even sit in the main bar & enjoy the music. Not at all the experience we hoped for or the experience that this place promotes. Too many good places in the city to visit a bad one twice.

This might be my new favorite spot in NYC — been twice so far. I used to go to Bill’s Gay 90’s and Elaine’s a lot, so I love that old-time NYC feel. Sid Gold’s is a live piano karaōke bar decorated in a kind of swanky retro piano bar vibe and the effect is really well done. Service is excellent– friendly and fast, and they have a great drink selection. I’ve only had the Penicillin but it is really nicely done. I also was really surprised at how good the Mac and Cheese was. If you don’t want to be near the piano there’s an entirely separate bar up front. The piano bar with table service is in the back and then there’s even a little tiny private table area behind the piano. Piano Karaōke happens 7 nights a week! The first night I went, Joe McGinty from Loser’s Lounge was playing. I did a Carly Simon song and a Burt Bacharach song. There seemed to be kind of a theater crowd with some singers clearly being pros, but don’t worry– a lot of people were total amateurs and the audience was very supportive. The song list is shorter than regular karaōke because the pianist has to know it– but I was able to special request«Alfie» and Joe looked it up on his ipad. The wait to sing was never that long but I worry once this place gets more noticed, it’s gonna be nuts. I went back a few nights later to drag my husband after we attended a wedding. It was almost closing time and only a few people were left. A woman whose name I don’t know was playing piano and someone was singing«Sweet Transvestite» really well. The pianist was really funny and sang some stuff herself. Just a great vibe overall. I think it probably changes from night to night depending on the crowd, but my two times leave me wanting to come back as soon as I’m back in NYC.

Stumbled upon this place while entertaining out-of-town guests and immediately fell in love with the beautiful interior lighting, friendly staff and chill ambiance in the back room. You can sit right at the piano and hang out, and they had excellent piano bar karaōke after 9pm which was a lot of fun after the delicious glass(ok, glassES) of wine we threw back. The pianist Michael Garin was so talented and engaging and a lot of fun to sing with! Will definitely be back and hope they’ll continue to get a good crowd going!

Awesome atmosphere. The interior of the restaurant is incredible. Great drinks and some limited food options. The shrimp cocktail and the pimiento cheese spread. Both were very good. There’s a piano player in the back and evidently it turns karaōke at certain hours. I would highly recommend and will be back whenever I’m in town.

While on vacation, my husband and I were lucky enough to come across this bar only a few days after opening. Ambiance is great! Very Mad Men nostalgia type of feel inside. AMAZINGPIANOPLAYING!!! Excellent cocktails and beers at a reasonable price.
