Definitely worth a five star given the service and food together. Our waiter served us from the beginning to the end and has constantly asked us whether we need to add anything else. Given the 33 dollar price tag, this is probably the best deal you could get for sukiyaki plus shabu shabu. The best part is, you could get both! They started to serve you sukiyaki with unlimited beef and vegetable until you are ready for shabu. At the same time, you could always order shumai/spring roll or grab sushi/seaweed from the counter as side dishes. In the end, either vanilla or green tea ice cream could be chosen as dessert. There was supposed a 1.5 hour limit, but apparently we enjoyed a much longer time!

Only beef was available on menu, no chicken or ham or duck. So if you don’t eat beef, there is just vegetable left for you. Even on vege side I had bowl full of lettuce &2 pieces of carrots. The service was really bad. I had to ask for food. Food which was part of menu & was not served until I asked.

Had a great time trying something new. Since it is all you can eat and small portions we tried lots of new things. Shabu shabu is so much fun.

If you are expecting an AYCE Chinese hotpot place, DONOTCOMEHERE. I’ve been to plenty of shabu restaurants but this is nothing like my previous experiences. To start, there is no longer a menu. The only shabu options are beef, napa cabbage, watercress, carrots, tofu and mushrooms served with sesame and ponzu sauce. There are no additional meat options, no seafood options. If you do not eat beef, do not come here. No broth options either, you are only given water. The hot buffet option is a complete joke! Wish I remembered to take a picture of it. It is literally the saddest buffet I have ever seen. We came 7pm on a Friday and everything was cold and looked like it had been left out all day. There was some fried squid, 2 pieces of sad karage, California rolls with browned avocado, croquette, fried and steamed shumai, fried rice, curry sauce and miso soup. The only saving grace is you can order hot«entrees». We ordered a hamburg«entrée» to share thinking it would be normal size. The waiter gave us a funny look because the size of the hamburg was a little bigger than a quarter… We also ordered the fried pork loin and topped it with curry sauce which was probably the best thing there. For two people it came out to almost $ 80. For that price, you deserve better quality than what this place offers. Save yourself! Go to Hakata Tonton or a normal Chinese hotpot place(Hou Yi is my personal fav). This place only deserves 2 stars but our waiter(young guy with blond streaks) went above and beyond so +1 for him.

Their all you can eat shabu shabu was a pretty good deal. The meat was pretty good quality but it was a bit on the less flavorful side. I wish they had better sauces and I didn’t really like the ones that they provided. They had some good side dishes and appetizers. I especially liked the otakfuku they had.

Shabu Shabu Kobe offers shabu shabu, sukiyaki, appetizers and more– with a truly wide array on the menu including Japanese staples(ramen too!!!), I feel like they could really satisfy any craving. I recommend this place for intimate dinners but also large groups as well! The other night I went, I saw a lot of large group parties.(Seemed like company parties– the communal hotpot bringing people together!) I cannot stress this– get the all you can eat menu!!! For $ 35, you get unlimited shabu shabu(with veggies like carrots, cabbage, shiitake, and more) or sukiyaki, and a huge list of appetizers(including pickled veggies, harumaki(spring rolls), and homemade tofu– i recommend this especially!), sushi and lots of other goodies. For appetizer, I also recommend the ramen salad! Served up with ramen noodles, lots of nice veggies and a delicious sesame-soy dressing, its a guilt-free(okay fine, guilt REDUCED) treat. Also, you can pick what sort of meats you want as well! The fancier meats are a little bit more expensive, but worth it.(They do specialize in meat after all!) A great meal for a great price!

Come hungry! My girlfriend raved about this Shabu place that she discovered and decided to take me there for my birthday. I really liked it. They have a variety of options that includes Shabu, sushi, and appetizers and other meat entrees. We’ve decided to go with the all you can eat, $ 34.99 since it was the only option you have for Shabu and they give you so much food. The service was also impeccable which can be rare in some asian establishments. I will be back!

I have mixed feeling about this restaurant. I and my coworker were only customers when we arrived there at 11:30, but they took long time to prepare our food. My coworker’s Teppan Hamburg Steak looked good, and she said it was good. My Sukiyaki teishoku looked good, but flavoring was little weird. Sukiyaki sauce should be sweeter. We were both Japanese, but didn’t know why chopped green onion and grated daikon radish came with Tamagoyaki(egg roll) as an appatizer. Such a weird combination. Maybe few Japanese eat Tamagoyaki with grated daikon radish and soy sauce, but Tamagoyaki itself is already seasoned, so not so many people do that. This restaurant is clean and spacious. I haven’t tried other food, so I can’t tell a lot about this place, but I had a little bit strange feeling about here. I didn’t see any Japanese worker, so maybe this place is not Japanese owned. By looking at the fact they have all you can eat shabushabu, their shabushabu won’t be good like all you can eat sushi’s quality is low.

Came here for dinner on a weekday with a friend and was able to be seated right away. We both got the All-You-Can-Eat Special Menu set for $ 35(There’s a 1.5 hour limit), which felt like a good deal. The set includes shabu-shabu/sukiyaki, soup & salad, appetizers, meat entrees, sushi, noodles, and icecream(flavor depends on the day). We ordered the Prime Aged Beef Chuck Roll, Aged Pork Loin, and Chicken Breast for shabu-shabu. I don’t know if it’s because its all-you-can-eat but the meat tasted cheap(except for the pork, the pork was good). The beef and chicken were mediocre, which was disappointing. The vegetables didn’t taste that good either — the shiitake and cabbage were practically flavorless. Our waitress, Larissa, almost made up for the meal though. She was so sweet and attentive(without being intrusive). We also ordered Gyusuji Curry and Teppan Hamburg Steak — both delicious, not anything special but it was still good. We tried the spicy tuna roll as well and that was nice, the rice especially was pretty good. I ordered 2 plates of Tsukemono, which are pickled vegetables — I love tsukemono in general though and after finishing the first plate I had to get another one. Pickled vegetables might not be for everyone though so be careful. Overall I felt the set was a good deal but I wouldn’t get it for the shabu-shabu. Honestly the appetizers and meat entrees were much better, which is sad considering that’s not what I came here for. I don’t know if I’ll be back or not — you get a good variety of food but the overall quality is just ok.

A clean place with comfortable chairs and spacious lay out. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. We were a big group, but our food came out all at once, which, I thought, was a nice touch. The food was pretty good even though there were no eggs to put on top of burgers and two people had to change their orders as the item they ordered was no longer available. Not bad overall. Will have to come back for shabu shabu for a full experience.

They have tasty Japanese style curry in lunch time. It costs only 5 dollars.(※You can have 5 dollar curry only when you take it out.) When you eat inside, that would cost about 13 dollars. There are decent amount of beefs in it plus onions and other veggies. I like the taste of curry here, it is very rich and tasty. The one of the best lunch in terms of the taste and the price.

I really like coming here for lunch. Their lunch menu is a great deal considering its midtown. It’s like a three course meal for around $ 15. The first time I got the suki yaki, which was actually quite delicious. There are pieces of beef, some udon, tofu and greens. Comes with either a miso soup or a mini ramen. Also comes with fried rice or white rice. AND dessert too which was mango pudding. Their kara age isn’t bad either. Also comes with rice, soup and dessert. A pretty generous portion of chicken for $ 13(before tax and tip). Only reason I’m giving 4 stars and not 5 is because its not exactly splendid-must-try-before-you-die food. It’s just good, decent, and very affordable. If you’ve got an hour for lunch and work nearby, try it out!

Shabu Shabu is a lite and simple meal. Heated water with little flavor and meat in its purest form with no strong soup base to overtake the original flavor of the meat. That’s what I expected but didn’t get wowed with the meat they served here. I had wanted to try their Kobe chuck but I was informed they had no Kobe at all for the entire day. Sucks to hear a menu item is not available. So I ordered their aged beef chuck and prime beef chuck set instead. They had good meaty flavor and solid texture of beef. However, I find that their slices are a bit thick or too big. They slice meat and then roll up the ends so it looks like a uniformly rectangular piece, but it’s just too big to be one slice. Would’ve been better off as two slices instead. The server instructed how to cook the meat but their method said to dip it in for 10 seconds, which I did and the meat was still pink/red on some parts. It didn’t cook evenly, I guess it’s because of the larger than normal slices. The ramen and glass noodles that come in the set meals were too few and too little. Two sets worth of ramen and glass noodle was really more suitable for one person. I didn’t like their ramen very much. Appetizers like the okonomiyaki was not bad. Sadly, their lighting was too bright on one visit and very dark on another visit. There was also this annoying lightbulb that kept flickering the entire meal. Still the staff worked hard and were pleasant, the restaurant was new and clean so I’ll round their 2.5 stars up to a 3 star review.

I was a little hesitant on dining at Shabu Shabu Kobe as to seeing the low ratings on Unilocal; however, I’m glad that I did and hope that my review could help it out! First off, the interior décor, setting, and ambiance were all wonderful. It was not loud, spacious, and had a classy/jazzy sort of feel. The chopsticks’ covering were even matching with the wet hand napkins they provided(Yes I am very detail oriented). In the bathrooms, they provided toothpicks and tissue packets which once again matched with the décor, just like the ones in Japan. The waitresses and waiters were very attentive and gave insightful answers to the questions we had about which meats to order for shabu shabu; side note– our waiter looked like Endo Kenichi… we should’ve asked for a picture. The menu had a large selection of foods and meats suitable for izakaya, sukiyaki, and shabu shabu sets/combos. To start, we tried the Gyu(Beef) Tataki and Ramen salad. Gyu Tataki was good, but could have been better. The meat was not as tender as we would have liked it, but nonetheless, still good. For shabu shabu, we ordered both pork slices(one being butabara), and beef(gyu aka mi). The shabu shabu broth used was with kombu, and had ponzu and a sesame peanut sauce for dipping. The shabu shabu set came with a lot of veggies, such as mushrooms, tofu, kombucha, etc. The vegetables were unlimited so they would bring you another plate if you were out. The whole experience was yummy, and we were all quite satisfied after eating shabu shabu. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is the thickness of the shabu meat slices. It was a little on the thick side, but overall, it was tender and good quality meats, so do not shy away just because I wrote this. We even received 4 desserts, so we decided to try one of each. We all like the the Mango pudding. There is a little super market sort of section by the door that sold convenient store foods like 12″ yakisoba bread, or egg sandwich for only about $ 3(cheaper than Sunrise Mart!), natto, ramune, little stuff such as those. Between 5 people, the bill came out to be about $ 36.00 total(beer and tip included) which was really good I think! So if you’re looking for a shabu shabu place, why not try here?

Yay to a shabu shabu space opening up in NY! I get way too spoiled in LA/OC with their shabu shabu… we get double the portions for half the price! Soo yes… this place had some good meat(ramen noodles were ‘eh) and veggies(and yes, I prefer the thinner sliced meat compared to the thicker one as well), but it was waaaay pricey. It’s a huge space with a great ambiance and all, though. Service was great as well.

3.5 stars. Really kind of a shame to see Shabu Shabu Kobe get off to such a rough start on Unilocal. Here’s hoping this place finds its footing eventually, as I am rooting for them. The space is surprisingly big, and has a «VIP» upstairs(which has a pricier menu) and a regular dining room on the ground floor, which we picked. It has a very clean and spacious layout. I didn’t get any sort of «cafeteria» vibe, as other reviews have noticed. We did prime beef shabu shabu set. A shabu shabu set includes the tray of meat, a plate of vegetables, tofu, and two kind of noodles, and a dessert of the day. It’s worth noting that the menu has lot of choices so that you don’t actually have to order shabu shabu. We also ordered a Japanese egg omelet and a sweet and sour salmon dish. IMPORTANT. Japanese shabu shabu is NOT Chinese hotpot and those who come here expecting the latter will end up disappointed. Japanese shabu is a cleaner version of hotpot in which the food is not cooked in a rich broth, but in hot water. And instead of a make-your-own buffet of greasy, salty, spicy sauces, you’re given a couple pre-made sauces for dipping(yuzu and peanut). Not your thing? Maybe not. But this is the way they do it, and it’s a much cleaner and healthier dining experience. We enjoyed our food for the most part. Ingredients are good quality. A couple misses would be that the beef was cut a little too thick and I would have preferred more substantive vegetables, rather than the chopped slaw-like veggies we got. The egg omelet was excellent, but I’d pass on the salmon next time. The coffee jelly dessert was so good! Great finish to the meal. Service was impeccable and extremely attentive. From the host to the server to the other waitstaff, everyone was incredibly polite and food came out so fast. I like how they bring everything on a pushcart, adds a nice touch to the service.

Despite the two previous bad ratings in Unilocal,we thought we would give this place a try. The place was clean but the food was less than decent. The two-star rating is there for the waiting staff and the receptionist or else I will give them zero star for their food. We ordered a ramen salad. It is at best mediocre. My wife ordered a pork cutlet dish and part of the dish was overcooked. You will get better a better pork cutlet dish in the food court in Korean town nearby. The worst part came when we saw the $ 29 beef shabu dish called the Gyu Loin Niku Set. It cost $ 39 on the second floor but luckily we were on the first floor. The beef was NOT anywhere close to what they showed you in the menu. It was thick and tangled together. It was hard to cook, and it did not taste fresh. The portion was generous but I would rather they gave me less meat but with much better quality. I just noticed that they did not even give me the green tea icecream for dessert as it was a part of the set! I will post some pictures and you can make your own judgement. I love shabu but this bad experience will drive me away from having shabu for a long while. Very disappointing!!!
