Had the fish and chips, my friend got the breakfast special with eggs. Fun atmosphere, a little loud but it’s a bar so duh. Lol Fish was hot and flaky, he seemed to enjoy his breakfast. Service was quick once I found someone to serve us.(we set at table near bar) Was a fun experience.

We stopped in for happy hour after a street festival. Too many Irish pubs are are NOT Irish. This place is the really deal. We ordered wings and nachos, both very good, cold beer and great shots. Great staff, most are from The Green Isle. Will gladly come back. It’s the kind of place that you will enjoy your time then realize you probably spent too much time there.(as if that’s bad)

Wow, now I have to update: After Nathans completely insincere response to my review, I have to just say he provided a blatant lie about how he ripped me off as explainable is just amazing. How can he say that it’s an error when they have served this special for many months… Nathan: «The waitress that wrote it thought that the line between the two would be easy for people to differentiate. It was never our intention to have a misleading sign. Just to clarify, we have an array of $ 10 lunch specials. We also have our Burger and Beer Special(Buy any Burger get any Beer Free) which is a great deal. The Mayo must have been a mistake because we don’t charge for condiments and we’ve reiterated this to our staff. « Me: «There is no line between the ‘two’, in fact, see in the picture and what does it say? It says, ‘Any Burger Any Beer is Back»…that was what I didn’t get. The mayo must have been a mistake alright. The same bartender that served us mayo before decided it’s a buck now’» Look, he’s a pathological liar and rips off people as a policy, not a mistake. I recommend you stay away from this place. Prior post below: So I have been going here, because they have(er, had) a lunch special: Any Burger and a Any Beer $ 10. Having eaten here before and having paid $ 10 for this special, I just wasn’t sure about the crab cake burger, so I go in and ask if the crab burger is in the special and my friend says the same, but for a regular burger: Bartender, «Yep any burger…» So the bill comes in for $ 48 and we ask, what happened to the special? The answer is any burger and full price, comes with a free beer. Oh, the icing on the cake was when they charged $ 1 for mayonnaise… really? So, my advice is you need to count your fingers after you shake their hand at Scallywags. They lost one regular customer, who is not going back. What does this photo tell you should be expecting to pay for the special?

Should Be Zero Stars. Lunch special is more aptly named RIP– OFFSPECIAL: Chalk Board in front of pub states $ 10 Burger & Beer special. Politely ask bartender for the special. Response: Oh yeah, any burger. Final bill charges double. Why? Oh, no, burger is full price, beer comes free. Wait a second: what about the advertising outside? Any burger, any beer $ 10? Guess what, she even charged for a tiny plastic cup of mayonnaise($ 1). Really? It is a shame to be ripped off like this. A) Sign outside boosts burger & beer lunch special $ 10. 2) Verbally communicated special. C) Presented with inflated bill. When asked how this was possible: Guys, do you think we could actually offer a burger and a beer for $ 10? We need to make some money! I am not making this up. It’s a new low, even for Manhattan.

AWESOME Irish pub in NYC. Did brunch here and the hollandaise sauce they make for their poached eggs is some of the best I’ve ever had. It’s kind of cheesy almost. The mimosas were good, and the potatoes were amazing as well. Definitely recommend for a brunch spot, and would totally come back for dinner.

Let me start off by saying that I ordered the monte Cristo and I actually enjoyed it. The 3 star review is based off of the people I was with not being happy with their meals and also for the service. Our waitress was a sweetheart but she was the only one working so our food took pretty long to come out. I’d go here to watch a game and have a drink but that’s about it.

Scallywag’s is a fine establishment and much better then Los Olivos in Scottsdale, AZ. My wife and I are frequent visitors of this Hell’s Kitchen temple of culinary love. They have $ 5.00 happy hour wings which equals a pot of gold at the end of this Irish rainbow. Everything’s good except for the cheesesteak. I don’t blame you for trying, life’s all about risk taking! Here’s to Lucky Charms:)

This is not a place to explore. I went there back to back nights and both times were not good. We went on a Friday night in April. The place is not very clean and I barely fit into the bathrooms. It seems like the place has no identity. Its says it’s an Irish pub but there are San Diego Chargers things around the restaurant. Then I asked for a jack and coke(this is the only drink I drink). While I watched him pour it, it was not Jack Daniels, and I am certain of this. When I said something to the bartender, his response was«I poured it from that bottle, you saw me.» I told him I saw that but that doesn’t mean that is what is in there. He responded with a shoulder shrug and walked away. Poor service. The next night we went back and while a buddy of mine sat at the bar and waited for me, he had 3 drinks and was charged 3 different prices each time(there were only 2 bartenders!). Obviously, that is an issue as well. We didn’t stay long and won’t be going back. In the end, very poor quality and wasn’t happy there… either night!

Best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. Egg poached to perfection and the sauce was delectable. Paired with their free brunch Bellini made it a great meal.

This Irish bar is actually shockingly good for live music. The best night is a Friday, when a guy from Colchester(my neck of the British woods, so to speak) plays the guitar and sings. He’s got a long list of songs he does, and takes requests– Taylor Swift ‘Shake It Off’ or Meghan Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’ are great ones to request. Reasonably priced drinks, plenty of seating and bar staff that actually have personality. It gets quite busy later on, so arrive early if you want one of the little tables. Not the most modern/attractive décor and a bit dark but if you’re in Hells Kitchen, I’d definitely recommend.

I have been going to Scallywags pretty much since I moved to New York almost 4 years ago. I decided to catch up on my Unilocaling since I never use this site because I am at work right now and need to keep typing so that I sound like I am busy(heh) so I am going to town on my frequents and such. Anyway back to business. This bar is awesome for so many reasons but I think the top of the list includes the food, service and atmosphere. The owner is a sweetheart, all the bartenders are actually Irish which is something I enjoy whilst drinking at an Irish Bar and they have live music every night. The only thing I have negative to say is that there is no jukebox.

I updated my prior review(below) because the Manager responded kindly to my not so positive review. Honestly it could have been better, especially service wise. But everyone deserves a second chance. I may come around and give them a second chance who knows. I’m sure they will do just fine with out my business as it seems from at least their Unilocal reviews, that they have a solid fan base. I wish I would have read the reviews before going around the corner for lunch with my colleague today. The food was bland the server was bland and the bill was astronomical for an Irish bar that is not considered fine dining($ 60.00 for two lunch entrees and one cocktail). The fish & chips was literally frozen dinner quality… Gordon’s Fisherman anyone???

Went here last night for dinner and drinks. We found a coupon for a free shot on Unilocal and asked if we could use it. The nice waitress asked us what shot we would like and we said«Jameson» so she went off to get it. However, when she got behind the bar, another irish bar tender told her we could not have Jameson and had to get a cheap house whiskey. She spoke so loudly we could tell that she most unimpressed we asked for Jameson… as if we had done something wrong. In the end, the house whiskey we got was so bad that we couldn’t drink it.(We didn’t care about the shot but the attitude of the girl behind the bar made us feel condescended). As for the food, it wasn’t great. The bangers and mash however was much better than the fish and chips.

We were in New York visiting for the first time from California. I was really disappointed that our hotel didn’t have a bar, but I discovered Scallywags across the street and ended up spending every night of our vacation there! The bartender Marcus was arguably the best bartender I have encountered in my life(and I’m a bartender myself.) He was hilarious, completely attentive, changed the channel to a Bay Area sports team for me, and even interfered with a dude who was uncomfortably hitting on us. Next time I’m in the city I’ll definitely be back!

One of my favorite places in Midtown to grab a beer and watch a game of soccer or football. Every evening they have a live band performance from 10 pm onwards and the place is electric. The servers are friendly and very attentive, food is good and the drinks are affordable. What else could one ask for. And it’s the best place to catch a BPL, Champion’s League soccer game or the NFL games or NBA games…

I was in New York in September and was staying in an apartment above this bar so I made sure to call in for a pint and some food to see what it was like, after our first visit to the bar we were sold and ended up coming back 4 times throughout the 5 times we were there. The first day myself and my girlfriend called in for lunch. We were met by a lovely waitress(Blonde and Irish, sorry I forget her name) who was very nice. She even stayed chatting to us, asking about our holiday and really just gave off a lovely vibe. Anyway, she gave us a menu each and even told us that they had a happy hour deal where we would get a free cocktail with every main course(NICEONE: D). I went for the macaroni and cheese and my girlfriend went for the toasted sandwich special. Both were amazing. One of the nicest macaroni and cheese meals I think I have ever had and I took a taste of the toasted sandwich it was lovely. Price wise it was also very fair. I also tried their Scallywag’s Branded lager which was $ 5 verses $ 7 o $ 8 for all the premium beers, it was very drinkable and I ended up having it every day I came back. We came back a the next night for dinner and we saw the front bar was full so thought we were in trouble but we were shown to the back of the bar where they have a proper seating area. They had plenty of seating out there also so we had no problems getting a spot. This night I went for the Philly Cheese Steak and my partner went for a Chicken type of dish which had a red wine sauce(Which was lovely, but our only negative was there was no pricing on the menu so when the bill came we found out the Chicken dish was $ 26 whereas my Philly cheese steak was only $ 12 I think, it just would have been nice to know the pricing first). Both dishes were beautiful. Honestly, I can safely say this became one of our favourite spots during our stay and I would highly recommend it. The staff are amazing and so is the food and beer.

Nicely situated only a few blocks from the Javits Center, Scallywag’s was a welcome place to eat after a long morning at Comic Con. A few friends and I got situated quickly and prepared for some brunch. They have a pretty sweet deal where they have a free Mimosa, Bellini, or Bloody Mary with any brunch order. We were all hungry and welcomed nice service and food(generous portions). I ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict but everyone else enjoyed sheppards pie and burgers quite nicely. Would come back if I’m in the area. Use the Unilocal Check In for a nice bonus!

Let’s be honest there are a lot of Irish bars in NYC and let’s also be honest; I’ve been to most of them. This is the best one, trust me. Live music every night of the week, good beer selection, great menu with food until 2am and amazing staff; Marcus, John, Sarah — whoever you get will make you feel welcome. Personal favorites are a solid Irish breakfast with real Irish bacon, authentic British fish ‘n chips, chicken tenders and a mean chicken curry. Brunch is especially good value as it comes with a cocktail and its not too much to upgrade to bottomless brunch either. There is always a few locals at the bar, more than anywhere else I know which speaks volumes for how good this place is given all the options available in the city, even just on 9th Ave. They also have a big room available at the back ideal for private parties. If you live in the area and haven’t checked this place out, go. If you commute via Port Authority and need a beer before the journey, go. If you’re a tourist staying nearby, go. Anyone else? GO!

We came in on a weekday afternoon about a month or so ago. The BF ordered some sliders to go and we sat at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks. Our intention was to grab some quick drinks. I checked in on Unilocal and saw a Check-in Offer for a free shot with check in. That’s all it said, no other terms or restrictions. I showed it to the bartender and she said the offer was not valid because we were taking our food to-go. I looked at the offer again and showed her that the offer states a free shot with check in, not with a meal. She just repeated herself and walked away. Here’s the thing: Businesses can clarify their terms on the check in offer. If the terms were not stated, I feel they should honor what is stated or edit the offer ASAP. In the least, she could have been kinder about it. The receipt said her name was Karen. Unless they share tills, Karen is the reason for the one star review. P.S. Four sliders came with the order and they were not good. Four dry patties with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Yes, I would’ve given them one more star if they had better food, but I can safely say the sliders match their service.
