Delicious, hearty, and you can’t beat the price for food of this quality, especially in this neighborhood. For a couple bucks more than the street carts, you get high quality meats

I’m not the biggest sausage/hot dog fan but I would say I was pleasantly surprised. The soft pretzel bun was what put it over the edge for me to turn away the crêpe place that was next door. I just HAD to try this! Theres a few bottles of sauces on the side that you can persoanlize what you like on your dog from BBQ, ketchup, mustard, pesto and a few more I can remember. I got the pork which was pretty good, the bun wasn’t bad, but wasn’t as great as I would imagine it to be. All in all, not bad. I would recommend someone try it. And it’s decently priced.

Why hey there cheap lunch spot, how are ya? Stumbled upon this place on my way to another sandwich shop and I’m glad I went in because their sausages are delicious. I don’t know which is better, to know that a sausage could be so yummy and affordable($ 6) or the fact that it’s tucked in snuggly between a sturdy pretzel bun(!!!) but either way it’s a winner in my book for best quick bite around Union Square. I personally like the Blanco over Chipolata but extra spice never hurt anyone. Chipolata had the«snap» you’re looking for but Blanco had the basil I love, good thing I bought both to test it out. I also took away all the special sauces available; yep, all 9! Honestly I think you don’t need any sauce for the pretzel sausage dog because their original juice and flavor is good as is. There was one squeeze bottle that didn’t have a name on the label so I called it the Mystery Sauce when I brought the goods back. I had thought it might be the tzatziki sauce but ha, I was wrong; it was horseradish! In case you have no idea how horseradish taste like, imagine a creamy light version of wasabi. You’re welcome ;)

When I was walking down the street near NYU, after eating at the Souvlaki cart guy in Astoria, and I smelled sausages. That’s one thing that is really hard to pass up on. I went in to give it a treat, mind you I wasn’t starving. I love the feel of the place, they’re really trying to get a point across, Sausages, sit and eat. The smells coming from the grill were great. I ordered a Chipolata and Farmer sausage with a side of fries and a drink. Let me start with the best part of the meal. The lemonade was actually fantastic, great sourness with a bit of the pucker. The fries were as advertised, very good. When I ordered the sausages I ordered sauce on the side, because a good sausage can hold up on bread alone. I was saddened when I had my first bite, there was a snap, there was juice, but there wasn’t an intense flavor that filled my mouth. Added some of the sauce, cilantro pesto on my Chipolata. Amazingly, the sauce was the best part. It somehow completely overpowered the flavor of the sausage. The same thing happend with the Farmer. I really want to LOVE this place, but they need to start reformulating their sausages. If this is the type of place that you can only go to when you’re starving and even McDonald’s tastes good, then I’d rather go to a hotdog cart. You can do it Sausage Inc. Get better and I’ll support!

Love this place! You can choose different kinds of sausage(thanksgiving, spicy, chipotle, beef, lamb, etc) and they have great sides like tator tots(haven’t had tator tots since I was a kid!), mac n cheese, etc. The bread roll they use for the sausage is similar to a hot pretzel. so soft and warm. Party in yo’ mouth! They have 6 – 8 different kinds of sauce next to the condiments so you can try any/all of them. I’m also a big fan of their black cherry soda and Arnold Palmer. Big filling yummy meal for under $ 10. Can’t argue with that!

Gourmet sausages in a soft pretzel bun. Everything is made on site and screams freshness. I split the chipolate sausage which is made of chunky pork and chipotle and one of the specials of the day, the lamb and pistachio sausage. Both were juicy on the inside with the must have casing snap that all good sausages/hot dogs must possess. My favorite was the lamb and pistachio and they even had a yogurt sauce to go specifically with that special sausage. The pretzel bun was a very nice compliment to the sausages. A slightly crispy outside with a soft, chewy inside and sprinkled with just the right amount salt. The extra crispy onion rings were also yummy and a great way to try out all the condiments(see below on condiment review). I absolutely LOVE the selection of condiments to choose from! They have about ten different ones to choose from, my favorites being the rosemary garlic aioli, chipotle mayo and horseradish. YES, I admit I tried them all. They even have one that is made of straight up habanero peppers that is guaranteed to set your mouth afire. That stuff was no joke. Even after fair warning, the lady at the counter took one look at me after trying the potent concoction and asked if I wanted a glass of milk. Consider yourself forewarned! Friendly service and really reasonable prices. A sausage will set you back only $ 5. Cute little establishment with a few bench seats. Good place for lunch or a grab n go.

Was looking for a quick meal on 12th street and stopped into Sausage Inc. on a whim. SOHAPPY about this. The menu is perfect for people like me who take an hour to decide what to order. 5 – 6 sausages, 5 – 6 sides, a couple specials and a whole bunch of sauces to pour on top. Perfect. There isn’t too much room to sit inside but when I went(4pm on a Monday) it was relatively empty so there was no problem. I rolled with Blanco which is pork sausage with basil. Dropped some BBQ sauce and some spicy mustard on top and went on my merry way. Pretzel bread was great, not too much dough or too salty and the meat was juicy, cooked perfectly and had the right amount of crunch to it. Great lunch for $ 6. Well done Sausage Inc. I will be back. Oh yes, I will be back.

Decided to try this place after walking by. Wow, these are some great sausages!!! Really flavorful grilled sausage on a yummy pretzel bun. I haven’t found something on this level in NY. I learned on my visit that everything is made on premise, and I was not surprised after I began eating. I can’t wait to return and try different menu items. The décor is fun, and has enough elbow room(unlike some neighborhood establishments). The manager Cristen was very nice and professional. While writing this review I was shocked to see the average score wasn’t higher. For crying out loud they make the sausages on site and they are incredible!!! I think Unilocal should make a rule and not let vegetarians review places called ‘Sausage’, just a thought, but I think it has merit.

My friend insisted on taking the train to this sausage dispensary so I complied. Sausage churns out a pretty mean weiner on a delicious pretzel bun. I had the Chipolata, which is chunky pork with chipotle. There’s a number of delicious condiments such as rosemary garlic aoli, choptle mayo, sweet chili butter, and cilantro pesto. The fries looked mighty good glistening with oil, but I had tater tots instead, which were decent. All in all, not a bad meal in the age of $ 10 artisanal hot dogs.

My hub came home with two of Blanco(pork & basil). The sausage was surprisingly not that greasy. Pan fried onion needs more work I thought. I preferred onion to be cooked down more to sweet caramelized onion instead it was soft but that didn’t do much for me. Although it’s not that greasy sausage but adding some acid might would bring more flavor(cook onions with balsamic vinegar???). I checked my fridge and found few condiments that might work as acidity, French mustard! I also spotted Scotch Bonnet hot sauce so I brought to the table. What worked the most was with French mustard for me. SB hot sauce over powered the taste of the sausage and left with no taste of the sausage but spiciness. Like many Unilocalers, I enjoyed the pretzels buns. Since the sausage was a rather bland, I wished the pretzels bun had rock salts on the top of the bun like pretzels on the street.

$ 5 ? I mean $ 5 for a really tasty beef sausage sandwich on very fresh pretzel bun. I was going to go to Num Pang, but my «how low can you go» senses kicked in, and I picked up the window menu on this place. I ordered the«farmer», which i their beef sausage sandwich, with fried onions on a pretzel bun that is not to «pretzelly», just soft and smokey and not too salty. The bun is warmed on the grill with the sausage which makes it so gooood. This place obviously caters and has special deals for NYU students. They also have deals for walk in patrons that include a soda, if you eat in. The eat in quarters consist of small bench space, with low block wood seats/benches, and a small counter that faces the service area, similar to a very short sushi counter. Overall the overhead grill gets this place a little smokey, inside and out, so if you’re sensitive to that, eat in the park. This is a real winner. This is not your average street vendor or San Genero festival sausage sandwich, this is a nice, occasional treat!

Out of the fairly wide variety of sausages I went for the thanksgiving sausage which is basically a turkey sausage with stuffing and cranberry. The pretzel bun is a great idea and the caramelized onions we’re made just right. The generous serving of tater tots and a fountain coke I received for free(!) just for joining Sausage Inc on LoyalBlocks, so overall great experience.

Finally had sausage inc and it was great. I tried their veggie and it was one of the best veggie sausages and it was one of the best I’ve had. I think there’s corn and black bean in it… I don’t know but it’s really good. I tried it with the bbq sauce and chipotle mayo and it was amazing, especially with the two blended together. That bun! Ah! So good. Also when I went to pick up my order the guy told me that this veggie sausage was a little smaller than they usually are and offered me a free coleslaw which I thought was very sweet. Especially since to me the sausage was pretty big(that’s what she said).

I decided to try out this place after my favorite place in the area was closed unexpectedly for Labor Day. Once coming in the menu looked very simple and clear cut. I decided on the farmer sausage with fries and a ice tea. The person at the register was not bubbly but very pleasant. While waiting for the food I got a chance to look around and noticed the very poor quality of the tables. It looks like some amateur put them together with a bad paint job and rough surfaces. Once receiving my food(rather quickly) everything looked very appetizing especially the pretzel bun. I applied the BBQ sauce on the sausage and the side of the plate along with the cilantro pesto sauce and ketchup for french fry dipping. upon my first bite I didn’t notice any tasty fireworks going off in my mouth, in fact I though the sausage was not quite done. The pretzel bun along with the caramelized onions were awesome and very tasty. The fries themselves very soft but not mushy with great flavor when dipped in my(BBQ, Cilantro pesto, and ketchup) sauce blend. lately the ice teas was freshly made and unsweetened which I guess tasted good but I prefer sweetened. Overall the main attraction(the sausage) of the place could use more attention considering mine was barely even cooked. This is why I cant give more then 2 stars. Otherwise its a good place and some places I’d consider visiting again to give it a second chance.

Oh darn. i really, really want to love this place. Now, the disclaimer: I went there only a month after it opened. But, if your name is «Sausage Inc» you need to blow some minds with your dogs. The pretzel buns are a nice touch. There’s some nice choices. The grilled onions are great. But everything wasn’t hot enough, the buns a little stale. And when i tried the housemade veggie dog the texture was unflattering to ther overall flavor. sorry S.I. I hope you pull through and we can reconnect on more favorable terms.

My friend was the one that brought me to Sausage Inc. The griddle is right by the door so you can peek in and see the sausages they are cooking. I had the Blanco sausage. It’s pork with basil. It was super delicious. I ordered the fries and the Arnold Palmer to finish of the meal. The Arnold Palmer was fresh brewed. The only thing that I didn’t like was that they didn’t strain the tea leaves out so my cup had a lot of tea leaves at the bottom. It was very refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness. The Blanco sausage was sizzling hot and cooked well. The casing had a snap to it when I took the first bite. Be careful, it’s really hot! The pretzel bun was warm and crunchy. The caramelized onions balanced out the saltiness of the sausage. You don’t need any extra sauce on top of the dog for flavor. It was great the way it was. I added just a bit of the dijon mustard for a kick. The fries were crispy with a soft middle. I tried 4 of the sauces that they offered: garlic mayo aioli, sweet chili, pesto, and chipotle BBQ. My favorite was the sweet chili. It was a good and filling meal and I definitely plan on going back again to try out their other sausages: D

I was lucky to stumble upon this sausage joint after walking from the west side with my bf. Our noses smelled grilled meaty goodness, and we knew we weren’t far! The Blanca was super tasty; more like a sweet sausage bursting with basil flavor. I was curious to taste the difference between the soft and chunky sausages, but I’ll have to save that discovery for another trip back. I would love to try the belgian fries! The sauteed onions really did the trick. Not overpowering and a great enhancement. Plus, you’re allowed unlimited condiment combos to personalize your own. I chose the cilantro pesto + rosemary garlic aioli. I also felt the pretzel roll far exceeded the size of the meat itself, which was a minor disappointment. But the piping-hot grill factor made up for it. The next time you’re around University Pl, stop by for a bite(if you can grab a seat).

I read about Sausage Inc in Gothamist and thought it would be a good spot for lunch, since I work in the area. I was apprehensive at first, since early reviews were not kind on their meat to bread ratio. Fortunately, seems that they’ve taken note of this and have corrected this little issue. I picked up the Thanksgiving dog, which gives a nice large turkey sausage in a pretzel roll topped with onions. They cook it right in front of you on a grill and is served piping hot(almost too hot to eat unless you let it sit for five minutes). The bread tastes great and the sausage was very fresh. It’s not really a solid tube of meat like regular hot dogs. The meat actually crumbles inside after you bite into it… a nice change from usual. The sauces are pretty good too. It’s self-serve, though myself and several others after me thought there was an extra charge for them. The homemade fries are nice and crispy, though overladen with grease. They got pretty darn soggy after I decided to finish the rest of the box in my office. Only minor issue with the food was that I needed to drink over 2 liters of water during the afternoon due to the high sodium content of the sausage and roll. It felt like I had the ocean in my mouth for the rest of the day. Service was pretty friendly and they offer an NYU discount. It’s well decorated but it’s pretty much a hole in the wall, since seating is very cramped for more than 10 people. They need to work on how they handle garbage and trays too because I had to end up putting my finished tray on the sauce and utensils counter because there was no other place to put it. The meal can get pricy if you tack on a side but it’s a decent value if you just pick up the sausage with a drink. Definitely worth it to check this place out if you’re tired of the nearby Dogmatic or street hot dogs.

In keeping with the trend of a joint that focuses on one type of food, this place delivers, but it’s not without its flaws. Just recently opened, it’s very very simple, serves 6 different types of sausages, some are beef, some are pork, one is turkey & one is even vegetarian. I got the chipotle & pork sausage with fried onions. Was pretty solid tasting, however, the gripe I have is that the ratio of bread to meat. The pretzel bun is just too big for the amount of meat there is. Sure it’s not a huge deal, just don’t like eating only bread in the beginning & end. Fries were okay, but that’s because they were delivered, I’m sure they’re better & crispy in-house. Sauces wise, I got the garlic aioli/mayo. It was good, worked well with the sausage & onions. All in all, good meal & they’re open late too. Place has potential, try it out.
