This placed seems to have been closed down as part of a real estate renovation. There’s been no signage indicating a re-opening or a new, nearby location. But even before it closed it lost its way trying to compete with nearby shops selling pizza made from very low quality pizza for low prices. In its day Stramboli was the best pizzeria in the Union Square area. It’s only serious flaw was seriously inadequate seating. I ate Stramboli pizza for decades. I will miss this establishment very much. Thank you for the years of great pizza.

3 stars soley because of the price to quality ratio. For $ 4.95, you get two rather generous slices and a fountain soda, and the service isn’t too bad either. There never seems to be an overwhelming crowd here, even though there aren’t too many places to sit. Props for being extra nice to student s(with the two slices with toppings deal). Just not the best tasting NYC-style pizza you’d expect, that’s all. If you’re in the area, not a bad option, but I still say Joe’s a mere three blocks from Stromboli’s is worth the extra $$.

The pizza we ordered was horrendous! I think it was an old pie they has sitting around. I would not ever order or eat from here again!

Cheap pizza if you have a student ID. 5 dollars for two slices with topping. The quality is as good as any other 99 cents pizza. Make sure you show them your student ID before you order. Otherwise they will get annoyed and you will get some attitude. One extra star for the people watching storefront window table.

I stopped here randomly and got a plain slice and a coke. It was excellent on every level! I cant speak for the other types of pizza here tho.

It’s cheap for students but not that good. In a city with so many pizza shops, they need to make sure the pizzas are fresh. Likely the turnover is low here so the pizzas are not as quickly turned over after baking.

I love this place! I’m a student at a nearby campus and this has quickly become my go-to lunch spot. Their student special lets you get a slice of cheese for $ 2 or a slice with toppings for $ 2.50. The white pesto pizza slices are AMAZING! For $ 3.50 I can get a yummy slice and an order of garlic knots — a filling, delicious lunch. They have other specials for non-students as well. Plus the guy working there is always very nice. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to grab some yummy cheap pizza with friends.

I’m so conflicted. This is one of those places where you REALLY need to keep in mind how cheap it was when reviewing. Yes, it tasted like cardboard. Yes, it was a little bit cold. Yes, it was very very plain. Yes, it’s all pre-made. BUT it was dirt cheap. What could you actually expected from that? Not much. For a poor college student, and I mean REALLY poor, this is a great option. But then again, I’ve also seen cheaper and how much worse can it really get? I think you just cross a line where you can’t even tell that it’s worse cause it’s all so bad. Also, it was quick so that’s nice. In and out in just a few minutes. Tl;dr: super quick, super cheap, super CHEAP

This pizza place was there when I was kid in the 70’s. In 2003, it looked exactly the same and the pizza was just as good. I went in the fall of 2012 and they had remodeled the place(not that you can do much with the small space). The pizza was not quite as good but still worth 4 stars. I hope that it’s still there next time I visit the City!

All you people writing positive reviews for the pizza either: a) have defunct tastebuds b) drunk or c) paid by them to write positive reviews Their crust is reminiscent of cafeteria cardboard French bread pizza, sauce is bland and they use horrible cheese. Really one star — the extra star is for the nice staff.

Stromboli’s for a late afternoon snack. There are a plethora of pre-made pizzas sitting out on a counter, you select the one with your favorite toppings, they warm it in the oven and serve. I ordered a spinach slice for the BB and it was OK. The bottom crust was crispy like a cracker, which I assume is NY style. I must honestly say that I was really disappointed in NY pizza, maybe we didn’t hit the right joint, but pizza that has been sitting out on a counter all day to be warmed up isn’t my idea of good. That’s what we found pretty much everywhere. I’ll take fresh made pizza hot out of the oven any day, even if not made in NY.

I think the place changed ownership(despite old pics on the wall). The older gentleman and kid(who used to call everyone«guy») are not there anymore. I started going here in 2000 and back then the squares were very good… especially if right out of the oven. The other day I went back and had a very good slice. I would say better than average. The price is right too, as they have to compete with another pizza place a few stores up. They also recently changed the layout of the store, much better now, except for the fact that they got rid of the AC.

Wanted an avg slice at a reasonable price and got it * pizza was not bad and hit the spot as i was looking for a small lunch * great place for students given the special student prices(less than the 2.75 i paid for a cheese slice)

THis is actually right near the Carnival, place right next door for expensive bowling experiences. The place itself is pretty decent, Looks like NYU kiddos headquarters, even on a friday night there were many around. I used the Tenka deal. Buy 1 Pepperoni Slice, get one free. Can ‘t complain about that, $ 3.50 got me two slices. The white slice and Fresh Mozzerella slice looked really impressive. Maybe next time. *Check out Stromboli

This is my favorite of all of the pizzas I tried through the tenka deal: I really liked the slice because they didn’t seem to skimp on the tomato sauce. The sauce has a mild sweetness to it which sets it apart from all of the other pizza joints. The place itself is more suited for takeout, since it’s mostly standing/counter eating only.

Awesome pizza with soft dough made with fresh ingredients. Now that they have a student special(2.00/slice or $ 16/pie for a plain and $ 2.50/slice and $ 19/pie for one topping with your student ID and $ 0.95 for a fountain soda), the temptation to stop by there often is impossible. Try«the wheel,» the new owner’s invention, a roll with mozzarella, ricotta and spinach or ham+pepperoni, which is great for a fast bite on the way. For more student discounts, go to

I truly think this place deserves 4 ½ stars but I’m bumping up to the 5 because I have never, in my whole life in NYC been able to say that the customer service in a small pizza joint was OUTSTANDING, and I can’t write a review of Stomboli’s without mentioning that up front. My NYC-native-transplanted-to-LA girlfriend was visiting & just wanted a «real NY slice» in her hung over state. We stopped here just because it was close to our meeting spot & ordered 3 slices to be divvied up between us– well, that was on the pizza guy’s offer & he did it without us even asking. We got a regular slice, a white slice, and a «Joe’s Grandma» slice, which is mainly fresh mozzarella. The standard slices were a solid 3 stars but the mozzarella– oh, the mozzarella. I told him he’d be seeing me soon for that one. As my friend said, it reminded her of Italy. It was just one of those off-the-street discoveries that makes me so grateful I moved home to NYC, land of the surprisingly amazing pizza guys. Drop by, you won’t be disappointed.

For a basic slice, you absolutely can’t go wrong and this is the best place in the Village, East West North and South, to get a regular slice of pizza. Other places offer more gourmet fare, thinner crusts, more intriguing toppings, and they try a bit of that here(though I’ve only ever had the«regular» pizza in 25+ years of eating here), but never you mind that… if you want the sweet elixir known as two slices and a Coke, look no further. I actually kinda dig the bar-style seating, and the overall shortage of places to sit. It really drives the whole«pizza joint» vibe home. Plus, you can sit in the window and make fun of people walking in to spend $ 100 to bowl at Bowlmor.
