Used to dine here frequently and always had a great time and enjoyed the food and drinks. It looks like there is a new owner now who can’t decide what he/she wants the restaurant to be. The service is shoddy at best, the ambience(music) is not so authentic anymore, and the food – lets just say I ordered the shrimp fajitas and discovered they contained only 1 red pepper strip and 1 green pepper strip amidst a pile of onions. I will give them credit for giving me more peppers upon request, as well as more guac, sour cream – I stopped at the tortillas for carbs’ sake. Glad I ordered wine instead of a margarita, judging by how my friend rated it.

It’s a good place! The service, food, and drinks are good! The atmosphere isn’t bad either! What else do you need?! When you come, ask for Michele, he made sure everything was good! Best server/bartender I’ve met in awhile!!!

This place. Aside from Chelsea Market, I know that the Chelsea area isn’t really known for their Mexican cuisine… but I was hungry and this was conveniently close to me and my friend at the time. There was a solid crowd when we walked in and although we missed happy hour, their deals for their tacos were solid. And we were craving some good guac. For about $ 13, you can get 3 tacos(with a pretty wide variety of fillings) rice and black beans. Not bad! Together my friend and I ordered a nice sized guac with our taco entrees. To start, the salsa was super smoky. Not sure what their method is but it was certainly different! Not bad, just not what I’m used to in Mexican establishments. The guac was pretty delicious — fresh and flavorful. As for the tacos, I was disappointed. I had the Carne Asada and the meat wasn’t flavored OR cooked well. All comments on the food aside, the service is really what warranted this rating. Our server was rude and barely even acknowledged me. He gave us an attitude/tone when we had questions about the menu. I definitely didn’t feel welcomed. But that was kind of our only option at the time and we decided to stay despite his demeanor. You live, you learn I guess.

My wife drug me here. I really didn’t want Mexican food in NYC. The service was fine but as a Texan I can’t recommend this to fellow Texans. If you’re from NYC then you probably don’t know what you’re missing. It’s not bad food. But come on folks. If you’re in NY there are so many better things to eat.

I come here all of the time for lunch since I work around the corner. We always happen to have the same waitress, and she’s super friendly! Great quesadillas, tacos, and empanadas. They also have great happy hour specials which I sometimes visit/

The place looked cute inside. Me and my good friend stopped in for happy hour. They make great caipirinhas regular and all flavors. Also great empanadas. However the service wasn’t great. It felt like forever waiting for a server to come get our attention. they don’t do silent refills I had to keep asking for more water… And we asked for more nachos and he never came and brought them to us. Mind you, there was only 2 other tables occupied of the entire restaurant. I don’t know if the servers were lazy or having a bad day but I was dissatisfied. When the servers did come over they issued a friend smile. They just need to improve their service a little bit.

Good spot to get empanadas(the chicken is very tasty). Our group also loved their margaritas(they have a great selection of flavors). The service is a bit slow since the staff seem their drinking and having a good time. This spot seems like a hole in the wall compared to the newer trendier restaurants in the area but its worth checking out. They also serve a pretty good Michelada.

My husband and I in a search for dinner after work stumbled into this location. I read the reviews about their food and drinks but I always like to try it out for myself. I ordered a Caipirinha and my husband ordered a piña colada. My Caipirinha from 1 – 5 I rated a 3 just tastes like pure sugar my husband rated his piña colada a 3 it tasted as if it was made with that liquid they sell in the gallon to make piña colada smh. Appetizers we had guacamole and chips notting special it was okay 1 – 5 gave it 2.5 we also had the loaded nachos also a 2.5 meat was just not fresh it kinda tasted like meat from a school cafeteria :(. At this point we were skeptical about dinner whic we had already passed for. Dinner was more of a 3 – 4 out of 5. I had the steak taco have that a 4 and husband had chicken quesadilla he gave it a 3. The staff were okay not super friendly not mean just regular.

The host was a dick and the service, or lack there of, was ridiculous. sat at a table for over 20 mins without being acknowledged. Walked out and hopefully wont be back! Don’t think they even noticed. The end.

Not good! My spicy margarita was the only thing decent. Frozen margarita definitely had no alcohol the first time around. Had to add a shot of tequila. The chips with unidentifiable red sauce was strange. Tasted slightly spicy and moldy at the same time. The guacamole was fresh but was way too acidic. The mushroom quesadilla was ok but nothing to write home about. The included hair on my plate, I could have done without. We ordered 3 different tacos(fish, steak, chicken) we received 3 fish instead. The seasoning for the fish tasted like ketchup, Very strange. Waited for the replacement tacos and not much better. I guess have the chicken if anything at least it had some flavor although very dry. For $ 70 it was absurd. I felt like we ate at a crappy taco truck.

First thing to note is the place looks a little kitchy. The service is definitely slow and not entirely reliable. But the food for the money(especially for happy hour) is top notch. The salsa is a smoky chipotle with just hint of all the right spices. Its not runny… but its not a chunky fresca salsa either. Then we had the nachos… all the ingredients were very fresh. while keeping the feel of a traditional cantina. We had a margarita and a corona to drink and they both went down smooth. Excellent choice for a local mexican hangout. If not a local… just know NYC in Manhattan is not exactly like socal.

Great tacos! GREAT happy hour. Service is good but wait time can be a bit long for another drink or to be served when they are busy. Definitely going back, probably today.

Well for starters, the host/manager was such an ass. He brought our food over and said«looks good right» … Yeah mine and my friends salad with one piece of avocado, 3(thinly sliced) pieces of dry chewy rubbery extra well done grilled chicken, and 2 slices of tomato(with the part where the stem grows out of left on them) looks DELISH… also apparently when u order the grilled chicken on their menu, they serve u FRIED fish… Didn’t know those meant the same thing. don’t let the attractive lights fool you the people suck and so does the food. Go across the street to el coco lol

a co-worker and i ventured out of the flatiron area in search of a spot that we could take an extended lunch– the only requirement was cheap margaritas. we stumbled upon this hole in the wall and were drawn in by their 12 – 7 happy hour sign outside — triumph! i don’t think i’ve ever really had a dining experience like this. the food probably deserves 4 stars; I ordered the ensalada jimaca y tomate with grilled chicken and god damn every bite was heaven, all the ingredients were super fresh including avocado, oaxaca cheese, an entire delicious chicken beast with corn sliced straight off the cob — no canned shit here. the margaritas were delicious for $ 6, for one dollar there are several flavor options including passion fruit, pomegranate, mango, etc. the service and ambiance sadly deserves 1 star. our waitress was not friendly at all, very slow service and she not once asked how everything was once we were served. when we wanted to have more margaritas we’d have to somehow make eye contact with the bartender across the room and signal that we wanted two more. the restaurant is wayyyyyyyyyyyy overdo for a makeover. everything was old and crickety. worst of all, the toilet didn’t flush. a Mexican spot without a functioning toilet sounds like hell on earth if you ask me.

Place was recommended by a friend, decided to try it out and judge for myself. I was craving platanos so why not. When we got there– there were only 3 tables with people. The staff was very welcoming and I had high hopes. We ordered a chicken salad and quesadillas. The quesadillas came first, then the salad. Honestly, I’ve had better of both, and the quesadilla was bland, no real flavor unless you took a bit from the pathetic small side«salad» they give you consisting of avocado, small shredded lettuce and sour cream. The salad was even worse, no dressing and the 8 chicken slices had become cold too quick. The only thing that happened to be good were the drinks. Had a sangria(4⁄5) followed by a margarita(5⁄5) and two piña coladas(5⁄5) only reason why this place is getting 3 stars. While the friend had a corona, margarita and a couple of shots. I think I’ll come back here every now and then, but for the drinks. In all: skip the food, and come for happy hour.

This review is solely on their drinks!!! HH from noon to 7pm which serves you extremely cheap drinks. And im not talking about $ 5 well drinks. I’m talking abt well made cocktails: cosmo, margaritas, mojitos, martinis for $ 6. You can add flavor(they have a vast selection) for only a $ 1 more. I had a cosmo, guava mojito(my fav) and pineapple martini. I did not eat here and don’t think I would give this place a try in terms of food. They currently have a B grade displayed on their window which makes me a little nervous to actually try their food :/I had no problem with the service here, the waiter was attentive and not rude as stated in previous reviews. I also enjoyed the seating nxt to the open window which is an ideal position for this nice weather. Thankfully, after drinking we felt adventurous and somehow managed to wander to herald square and found a street fair(broadway bites). Perfect! We got to have delicious drinks and got to eat at the fair. If you’re not high maintenance and are truly looking for a cheap yet tasteful, diverse HH then this can be a place to consider.

Thursday night marks the end of a gruesome work week and to wash out the pain with a party of two we specifically went to Salsa Y Salsa to imbibe on drinks. For Him: Tequila served with a salt rim For Her: Red Sangria in a mason-like pitcher with handle One drink each totals $ 25.00 + sales tax which was already after 8pm thus missing Happy Hour. Service is somewhat attentive. Restaurant is small and I do not recommend it for large groups. One tiny unisex facility exist in the very rear where the sink house exposed pipes.
