This place is kind of hidden because it’s in a hotel, but I really enjoy their Sunday brunches. The live music is enjoyable and the wait staff is nice. For the location, $ 25 for a burger and unlimited sangria or mimosas is the price point I’m looking for. This summer I’ve been using their open outdoor seating to have a lot of Sunday business meetings. I’ve always found that if I plan on coming back to the same place because I like what I got the first time, I should tip well. The real tester is to see if the staff remembers the gesture. And they do, they treat me really well, so I guess I’m partial to this place now.

My girls(and a few lucky guys) got together for my close friend’s birthday. She’s in her super-early 20s and instead of going the sloppy drunken bar route, she decided to go classy. We started the night at a super cute Mexican restaurant called, Las Chicas Locas(this translates to «The Crazy Ladies» and if you knew me and my girls, this restaurant is all too fitting =D), which is a part of Chelsea’s Four Points Sheraton. Generally hotel restaurants scare me because I assume they will strive to take advantage of my wallet, make my credit card cry and leave me hungry and wanting more food. I wasn’t too far off with this place, and Unilocal reviews weren’t exactly brimming with overjoyed former customers… The outside of this restaurant is super cute and there are speakers outside that were playing a steady stream of Latin music, mostly salsa and merengue. I’m part Puerto Rican and part Colombian so I had to refrain from beginning to Salsa on 2 in front of the restaurant. Upon walking in the lobby is your standard brightly lit, hotel-esque looking lobby, posh with off-white, brown wood and hunter green décor with books about New York City on display in a shelf. I picked up a children’s book that had really bright(kind of art-deco/mod) illustrations of taxi cabs, skyscrapers and bright city lights. The restaurant itself had a much different feeling than the outside lobby did. The lights were romantically dimmed, the ceiling was low, the bar was buzzing and most of the seats were full, but we made reservations for a party of 15 – 20 so we were a-ok. My best friend and the birthday girl were already seated — tables were large, round and set pretty low — think coffee table. Seating was plush, armless sofas and low-set milk chocolate-colored/leather oval chairs. Color scheme was very black/brown/red/gold with bits of ivory to lighten things up, yet provide a warmness. This place is best described as a tapas bar which according to their website, have a menu selection that changed according to the season(both the tapas dinner menu and cocktail menu). We(obviously, though not according to our current weather…) had the pleasure of sampling items off of their Spring 2011 menu and sample we did. None of us ordered their tacos for the simple reason that each order includes 2 tacos and for $ 10 – 12 dollars we all came to the consensus that this was not happening, but their $ 7 – 12 dollar cocktails(PAINFULLY since we all definitely have a preference for cheap booze) were. But let’s concentrate on food first. Several people ordered sides of rice & beans(this is not included in the menu, but we requested it and our wishes were granted!), other things ordered included the Pollo(chicken) grilled skewer($ 9 — with chicken, radishes and [delicious!] mole [black bean-like paste] sauce), carne asada quesadillas($ 12 — grilled steak, fried egg, asadero and [self-proclaimed] zesty chile sauce), enchiladas de pollo($ 11 — chicken, Chihuahua cheese, jalapeños & mango salsa), papas bravas($ 8 — smoked paprika & queso fresco [though shouldn’t technically all cheese be fresh in its own way!?]) and taquitos($ 9 — chicken with spicy avocado sauce). I was amused that a few people ran to Chipotle because these tapas were excruciatingly small portions. The food was super tasty and I focused mostly on the papas bravas(because it’s what I ordered) and the paprika sauce and the crumbled cheese on them was fantastic, my only gripe is that the portions left us hungry… For cocktails we sampled their Classic Mojitos($ 10 — Bacardi Silver, fresh mint, lime and agave nectar), Grapefruit Crush($ 10 — Absolut Ruby Red Vodka, Fresh Grapefruit juice, Agave Nectar and Orange Liqueur), Leblon Caipirinha($ 10 — Leblon cachaça, Limes, Sugar), Jimmy on the Fly($ 12 — Pyrat XO Rum, Pineapple, Fresh Sweet & Sour), their Santa Florentina Malbec($ 8 — red wine) and I downed 2 glasses of their white Sangria($ 7 a pop). I really did like the ambience a lot, the DJ was also SUPER on point. He played some Lady Gaga, new Jennifer Lopez(I know, I know — ehhh, but her new song about dancing on the floor that samples the Lambada grew on me like mold on soggy bread!), Bruno Mars and some smooth hip-hop/r&b — but all these things were set(or mashed up, whatever DJ lingo you want to use!) against 90ish Latin beats and authentic South American music sounds. We all danced in our chairs as we munched on the their yummy tapas and well poured drinks(although my sangria was absolutely nothing special and had too much sugar in my opinion). We did have lots of fun though and this place IS super cute… The reason I gave this place 3 stars is because it seems like everyone dropped a lot of money($ 40−60+) on food and drinks and left sober and still hungry — and we were there for like 4 hours or so. Just sayin.

I booked a brunch at Las Chicas Locas after seeing it on the sacred all-you-can-drink brunch list on the wined & dined blog. It didn’t have great reviews, but guaranteed AYCD mimosas — so I was in to give it a shot. What I didn’t know is that it’s inside a Sheraton hotel. Bizarre. There was also an out-of-place live band in the courtyard by the bar wailing hipster songs at noon on Sunday. The whole vibe was just weird — but I still had a good time! Our waitress was great, the food was good enough — I had the trio of tacos(mahi mahi, steak, chicken), each with an individual garnish and dip(gotta love a variety of dips). And the mimosas are indeed unlimited — there’s no «we say they’re unlimited but will actually cut you off at 3 and push you out the door» unspoken rule as there are at many of these places. It wasn’t perfect, but I can’t knock it either.

Las Chicas Locas provided a lovely end to a fun bachelorette party weekend in NYC with friends. We stayed overnight in the Sheraton, and after plans for a fancy brunch fell through we checked our bags at the front desk and set out on an adventure to find some lunch. As we walked out of the hotel, we all enjoyed live music from a great artist named Matt, and were greeted outside by someone named Craig who offered the bride to be a mimosa on the house. Still unsure of our plans, we walked down the block before turning around and grabbing a table on the outdoor patio. Ultimately, Las Chicas Locas is just your average restaurant with a simple variety of brunch options, but the live entertainment and the lovely reception from people like Craig make this place a lot of fun. If you’re expecting something out of this world, you will be disappointed. But if you go with good friends and know how to kick back and relax, this is a great option.

My experience at Las Chicas Locas was just«ok». It wasn’t bad, but nothing about it really made me feel like I need to go back soon. The Food: The portion sizes are EXTREMELY small. Even for a tapas restaurant the portions made me do a double take. The food itself was very good. I ordered the prawn skewers and the carne asada quesadilla(which, if you want something that actually fills the plate, is the best bet). And, the alcoholic beverages were made well(not too weak, and not too strong). The atmosphere: The most disappointing thing about the experience, for me, is how small the inside is. Granted, there is plenty of seating outside, but the pictures of the restaurant are misleading, with regards to the restaurant’s size. If you want a place to have a drink with 4 – 10 friends or coworkers, this is great. But, for large parties, you’d be better off at another venue. The service: Our hostess was simply«ok». Which is sort of a bad thing, when you consider that the restaurant(inside) was pretty empty, so she didn’t have other tables to attend to. We just had a difficult time getting ahold of her when we were ready to leave, and trying to pay our bill(the WORST time for a server to be MIA). She also messed up a simple drink order. It was nothing too serious, but again considering she had no other tables, I’d hate to see how the service was when the restaurant is crowded. Overall: I didn’t hate it, but I wasn’t wowed. If I had to go there again for an event, it’d be ok. But, it’s nowhere near being my first choice.

There’s an inside and an outside to this place. The night we were there, the inside was packed, loud, and not very inviting. The outside(in front of the hotel) was friendly, open, with space enough to accommodate our big group… and the service staff was spectacular.(I forgot the name of our Columbian waitress… but she was great.) Chris was the always-on-the-spot manager. Our reservations had been last minute, and he already had a reservation for party of 200!!! But he took care of us, coming back and forth from the back party to check on us in the front. We say… give that guy a raise! The beer selection was not so spectacular, though the did have both Brooklyn and Sam Adams Seasonal on tap. The food, while Mexican themed, lacked the kick Mexican food should have. But it IS a hotel bar/restaurant for God’s sake! Great service, never pressure to order or leave, great fresh-air ambiance(well as fresh as Manhattan air can be). We’ll be back! –Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC imbibers

The food is delicious. THe dance event tht they have every sunday I always have ag reat time, and its FREE! The only thing that annoyed me was the food service, it took 20 minutes of waiting, and people arriving after me to get their dishes before me, to receive ONEDESERTDISH! which was only a flan smaller than a yankee doodle, over twenty minutes? Pick up the slack on prrioritizing, and Ill starts eating there again. Until than ill keep coming out to dance. ;)

This place failed all my expectations. But then again, I should have known better with school events. I might as well have gone to a dance in the school gym. It is inside a hotel, so probably that was the first warning sign. There is a nice size space for dancing and a lounge area. The bartenders were nice enough, making me margaritas all night. But this place lacked serious character. That is the worst thing in the world. To find a sexy and sleek place, but without any voice. I can’t stand places like this. I mean, this was supposed to be a Latin-themed venue. It should be oozing with passion and hotness. Fail. Fail. Fail. The food was mediocre. But I guess I can’t expect much with a buffet. Bland taquitos. Soggy quesadillas. Rubbery chicken skewers. Oh well, you live and you learn. And besides, for $ 20, I got 4 drinks and was headed toward being drunk as a skunk. Let the games begin. Or end on the sidewalk pavement.

ROUND2’s a charm! The first time i came to Las Chicas was a few months back, and it was absolutely a let down. The food was cold, service was poor and the drinks were weak. BUT, my fiancé received a $ 50 gift certificate plus we had a free guacamole card, so we fig’d why not give it a 2nd go. We thought it would be best to go on Bachata Friday, and make it a date/dance night. I arrived a bit earlier than the Mr. so I sat at the bar. Happy Hour was ’til 7pm, and it was 6:15. The bartender Chris, immediately offered up the specials– $ 5 sangria, coronas and a third I cant seem to remember. They had recently changed their happy hour, whereas previously they offered a buy one get one–(sangria’s cost $ 7, so the previous deal was prob the better if you’re havng multiple drinks). He suggested the red sangria, and it was a good choice. Pretty tasty, but somewhat on the weaker side. Once the Fiancé showed, we decided to take a table outside in the front patio. The weather was awesome, and it was pretty packed w/patrons dining and enjoying the happy hour. Seemed to be mainly after work patrons, and girlfriends toasting to Friday. Not much of a view, and somewhat awkward being right in front of the hotel entrance, but it worked. Here we ordered the guacamole and a few more cocktails. Once it got chilly, we decided to move inside to a more intimate area to have our actual dinner. Jessica was our server and pretty accommodating. I got a great view of the dance floor as the instructor was just getting people warmed up and teaching them basic bachata steps. They really seemed to enjoy this. Jessica enthusiastically suggested the chicken quesadilla(which is cooked with a fried egg inside), and I got the chorizo tacos. NOTE: despite the menu not stating it, all entrees are TAPAS style, meaning they’re VERY small portions. With this in mind, it can get pretty pricey if you have a big appetite. Most their tapas start at approx $ 10 and up. We also got a chorizo fondido(melted cheese with Spanish style sausage served with tortillas. All in all the dishes were surprisingly excellent. I was a bit taken by the chicken quesadilla, but once I tried a bit of his, it was actually pretty good. My chorizo tacos were AMAZING! Small, but delicious. And the queso fondido was stringy, gooey and perfect. Chris, the bartender, came to our table to make sure we were doing well, which I thought was a kind gesture. and chatted us up for a bit. One of the topics we brought up was their recent overhaul to vamp up the menu, and improve their rankings on sites like Unilocal. They recognized their troubled past, but insisted they’re doing a lot to improve their service. I actually was convinced, since up until that point, everything was pretty great. Chris further proved himself, by later sending over a complimentary appetizer of churrasco skewers, which were freaken DELICIOUS! Very well seasoned, and plated beautifully. He must have known they’d be a hit! And the best part– after the gift certificate and free guac. the bill came out to just under 40 bucks.(*even better, Chris charged us the buy one get one free sangria price during happy hour) So I’d say, Las Chicas Locas deserves a 2nd chance. If you haven’t been, but have heard or read bad reviews… don’t take them to heart. It seems they’re really trying their best to improve their reputation and from my visit, i can say first hand theyre making the right steps to do so. On the flip end– what I will point out(which is somewhat of a negative). is they’re shooting themselves in the foot by not clarifying their dishes are tapas, therefore leaving the potential for patrons to feel less satisfied w/the amt of food their receiving. Traditional Mexican food is known for being hearty and served in large portions. so even if they raise their prices a few bucks per dish and add refried beans and spanish style rice, at the least patrons will be happy knowing they’re getting a FULL meal. Also– they can add a bit more kick to their sangria. We had approx 4 each, and we never quite felt a buzz.

Ok, I’m giving this place an extra star, because I had a free open bar here. And, they let me choose the time and date-a Saturday night. Normally, most places like you coming in during the weekdays, so a plus to this place! We got to choose between wells, beers, and sangrias. The cranberry vodkas were damn strong and I only needed a couple to get me through the night. Props!

I came here for their first Friday of every month Latin night, so the experience might not be representative. Food: the food is pretty standard Mexican fare. All portions are very small, more like bar food/tapa size than full entrée. I had the portabello burrito and my friend had enchiladas which were both maybe slightly bigger than a twinkie with no complimentary sides. So def expect to order 2 to 3 dishes to get full here. The food is fine, but I doubt I’d come here for food alone because for the same price, there are plenty of other Mexican restaurants where the value is better. Our waitress also gave us the checked pretty much one bite in and came back a few minutes later to check on it, but we were clearly still eating. It was weird. My glass was also dirty which I found out because I actually felt the dirt with my lips, GROSS! Dancing: In general, Latin nights are either full of nearly professional salsa dancers or people that love to grind and get steamy to Latin tones. This place is the latter. They basically clear the restaurant tables and make it into a dance floor. I love the music they played here, a very well blended mix of bachata, merengue, salsa, and the occasional billboards dance song that though I was really looking for a salsa heavy night, I really got into the music they were playing. I definitely think this is a place where people come to meet singles rather than dance lots of salsa, but there were some really awesome dancers here too. Drinks were very reasonably priced, $ 5 shots and $ 3 water. The restaurant alone would have at most been a 2 star, but the good music deserves the extra one.

I admitt I am a bit late with this review, but better late then never. My brunch group, the BROWNEYESBRUNCHAHOLICS(BEB) decided to spend our Christmas brunch @ Las Chicas Locas. I’ll admit the name was the first thing that attracted me(as the coordinator/hostess of the brunches) because I know our group can be quite crazy at times — in a good way. Onto the review. We were initially disappointed that the restaurant was literally in the lobby of the hotel it is housed in. I mean LITERALLY, but we made due with it. The complimentary Guacamole served while you wait for your food was quite yummy, but I can’t say the same thing about the food. When at least 1⁄3 of your party sends their dishes back, that says alot about the food. So I’ll rate the food a 2. They made up for the food with the seriously bottomles booze! They even allowed us to carry some over into our afterparty(which we always have)… our brunches are often as endless as their booze. :) We all agreed that we wouldn’t have another brunch their, or venture there individually, but fortunately we have a group who makes the best of every brunch. I love my girls! We did, however, love our waiters, they were very nice and efficient. Not a great place for a large group or a small intimate brunch. Until next month, Chow for now :) Monica– BEB Hosstess

Went here with a bunch of my coworkers after an event nearby. Luckily we were able to find a table and enough seats in the corner. We waited a long time for a waitress to come over to us and when she came to take our order the first thing she said was«Oh I didn’t even see you guys!»(there were 8 of us… you’re a great waitress noticing people come in.) We ordered drinks and food and the waitress forgot one of our meals. Everything was miniature. I ordered veggie skewers and the sauce they were in was really gross looking but tasted okay. In under an hour, I was home and throwing up from the food. Never again. Oh and the waitress thought it was helpful to print separate checks for every single drink and dish and ended up printing several of each and over charging. It was a bit all over the place. Horrific.

Went here for a group happy hour not too long ago and it was a solid atmosphere. Its inside of a hotel, but it seems to be a small gem in the making. If it were a detached spot with more space it’d probably be a trendy hot spot. Everyone in our party remarked on the drinks(especially the Sangria). I’m a lightweight so for me, at least, they were a bit too strong. The happy hour was reasonable and its super-chill. I recommend it if you want to catch a drink in a cute spot.

I don’t really see where all the hate for this place come from. They have a solid happy hour and it’s kind of in between my work and apartment. My only major complaint is that the service can be inordinately slow and they don’t have their own restrooms, you have to use the ones in the hotel lobby. The hotel itself seems sort of ghetto but the the lounge/bar area of Las Chicas Locas is surprisingly trendy. Also they serve Avion tequila and everyone knows I love anything Vincent Chase related. My sister and me decided to order some margaritas with Avion obviously and some Mexican style tapas. They were out of chorizo which was a bummer but the food we ordered was pretty yummy and our drinks were strong. The Mexican Cheese Fundido was amazing and we practically licked it clean. The mini beef tacos and carnitas quesdillas were also amazing and delicious. The chicken flauntas were ok but I wouldn’t order them again. We ended out meal with the churros which were so delicious, I just wish I wasn’t as full so I could’ve finished them.

Came here as I was emailed a great open bar deal by their event planner type person… Having just moved from Chelsea to the WV, i was surprised to learn it was right in my old neighborhood(although honestly i consider north of 22nd to not be the chelsea i like…) Didn’t know it was inside the hotel beforehand, but the one hour open bar was great, and they’d extended their specials for us until 9(although was unclear on whether that actually occurred). Got a bit crowded as there was a birthday party going in the lounge area, and i didn’t honestly notice if they had a large restaurant area(although they do have a large patio outside, but that might belong to the hotel). Wasn’t a huge fan of the house whites, but the sangrias were good(as most are)…would be somewhere i’d totally go if staying in the hotel for business or something, and while the deal we got was phenomenal, i dont know that i’d return for a regular happy hour(more due to the location than due to the service or restaurant itself though!)

Although it’s located within Chelsea’s Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, LCL(Las Chicas Locas) is a separate entity. So if you’re thinking that this restaurant is just another boring, half-ass attempt made by an international hotel chain, then leave your prejudices at the door. Because from the moment you exit the lobby and enter LCL, you’re transported away from the bright overhead lights, cheesy soft-rock«elevator music,» and overly-friendly Four Points employees. Think: your choice of lounge, table, or bar seating — dimly-lit, sexy atmosphere illuminated by twinkling votive candles — current pop tunes playing throughout — rustic Mexican furnishings meet chic urban aesthetics. By the time my first«skinny» Watermelon Margarita arrived(«skinny» refers to the fact that the cocktail is simply made with tequila, watermelon, orange liqueur and agave nectar — no corn syrup, no refined sugar, etc.), so did my dinner guest, Megan. Guacamole for the Table: Rich and buttery smashed avocado was seasoned with salt and topped with a mild in spice, yet robust in flavor, pico-de-gallo(chopped tomato, red onion and parsley — and a dash of olive oil and freshly-ground black pepper). The vibrant green dip was accompanied by a basket of warm and salty tortilla chips, and two miniscule«cups» of house-made salsas. Mexican Cheese Fundido: I can’t tell you how thrilled and tickled I become every time I see«queso fundido» listed on a menu. Served alongside flour tortilla triangles was a small iron skillet amply filled with a blend of melted cheeses(my guess would be a mix of cream cheese, goat cheese, and Chihuahua/asadero). Crumbled chorizo(spicy Mexican sausage) and juilienned scallions topped the dip. Despite the fact that Megan and I wolfed down every last ounce, here is what I would change: * While the scallions added a nice splash of color, I would instead use rajas(sauteed green chiles and onions) to make the dish more flavorful and authentic. For a milder spice tolerance, sliced avocados could be substituted. * Instead of being cut in to triangles, the flour tortillas should be served whole/round. Alternatively, corn tortillas would add a nice textural density against the creamy cheese. * I would have enjoyed an accompaniment of salsa, as I enjoy pairing the two dips. Grilled Prawn Skewers: plump, de-veined prawns were basted in a sweet and spicy garlic-chile sauce before spending some quality time on the ‘barbie. Arroz Frito con Frijoles /fried rice with beans: a bed of rice was liberally topped with black and red beans, zesty green chile sauce, and sour cream. A fried egg, pico-de-gallo(chopped tomato, red onion and parsley — and a dash of olive oil and freshly-ground black pepper) and julienned scallions crowned the dish. Though warm and comforting, I found the abundance of ingredients to be a bit overwhelming, especially with the addition of the fried egg. I like my rice separate from my beans, and my fried eggs accompanied by buttered, sourdough toast. And, while I’m at it, a glass of freshly-squeezed orange juice, too. Papas Bravas: cubed«home fries» or «breakfast potatoes» — topped with sour cream and queso-fresco — were plated over a shallow pool of smoked-paprika sauce which, honestly, tasted more akin to canned red-enchilada sauce. My first observations were, «Wait, aren’t ‘Papas Bravas’ Spanish in origin? … So this is what restaurants do with leftover breakfast potatoes!» Carne Asada Quesadilla: for a mere $ 11, this quesadilla has the power and protein to satiate you from breakfast to dinner. Sandwiched between two grilled flour tortillas was an ample schmear of shredded beef/carne asada. Smoky red-chile sauce(I have a feeling that it was the same sauce, coined«Smoked Paprika,» that was used in the«Papas Bravas» dish), drizzled sour cream, asadero cheese, and yet another fried egg topped the quesadilla. Chicken Enchiladas: call me a «traditionalist,» but I simply could not get past the chopped mango, pico-de-gallo, random jalapeño slice, and two lime-wedges that came either on top of, or as a garnish for, this dish. All of All of that aside, the enchiladas, themselves, were quite tasty. The smoky red-chile sauce(I have a feeling that it was the same sauce used in both the quesadilla and the«Papas Bravas» dish, coined«Smoked Paprika») paired nicely with the perfectly-moist, shredded chicken and blue-corn tortillas. «Las Chicas Locas» Trio of Tacos: of all of the larger dishes that Megan and I ordered, this was probably my favorite because of its variety and authenticity. The taco trio included: * Shredded pork«carnitas» with cilantro and roasted pineapple * Crispy, breaded white fish with slaw, corn, and chipotle-sour-cream * Chopped, grilled steak with pico-de-gallo and lime-infused sour cream

The crowd that attends here i would say defines what living in NYC is like very diverse. people of all ethnicity and race from all over met to share a common interest in a socializing dance atmosphere. What i enjoy most: No cover charge– which is great for luring people out on a Sunday night. Kitchen– which is an option to grab a bite b4 or after in case u build an appetite Live DJ: which spins mostly Salsa but also mixes in some Bachata I don’t know any other place like this on a Sunday besides actual socials that require a cover but if by chance it exists please feel free to reply to me thx.

Being force fed las chicas on a thursday night because I was running late to meet my friend for her birthday, I didn’t have much choice but to go against my grain. As it was, we had less than an hour to eat so not enough time to really inspect out our dining experience(thanks to my first choice pick being closed upon arrival). *shakes fist to the sky . The fact that this restaurant is sitting in a hotel is the first sign to steer clear of it. No, Im not that snobby but I do know that hotel restaurants rip people off because hotels usually have the corporate card crowd and that crowd almost always expenses their meals. Hotel restaurants are either or as well. Sometimes they are out of this world amazing like the governor morris(pending review) and other times they are completely lackluster. I figured –Mexican food is usually pretty easy to makeso how could they fuck it up? I know I am hard to please and I have my ways but I also know that my way is the right way. First the music is waaay too loud. I was screaming to my husband during our dinner date. Second, the guac was waaay too salty — too too salty and I love salt. Third, the empanada dough tasted like a toasted pop tart. Ill continue without number because that is getting annoying. The shrimp was ok — it didn’t have a whole lot of flavor but was fine — I wouldn’t have served grilled shrimp with melted butter, but so be it. The other sauce they had was a mexican chipotle that really just tasted like dissolved fattiness. The mouth coating on this was overbearing disgusting with the fat from chips but ok’ish with the poptart empenada. The margarita was lame — it tasted like cheap tequila and the fusel notes were non popping and overly dry woody. The only positive to the red sangria was the diced fruit. To boot, I pulled my brand new sweater on the dumbass plank next to my table — seriously? Obviously the architect of las chicas locas didn’t go to the frank lloyd wright design school in the desert — they would have known not to add splintery planks next to a dining table. No explanation necessary. Since I have to give this one star I will give it to our very sweet waitress — she was the bomb. I will also give it to the choice of music. Even though the djs seemed bored(two of them — so unnecessary and perhaps why this stupid place is way overpriced) they had some pretty good samples blasting incredibly loudly through the sound system. Sorry Las Chicas Locas, I would have to be one loco chica to return to your establishment.

I went to Las Chicas Locas a week after I wrote my first review. The hostess, Gabriela, reached out to me to apologize another time for the mishap with my reservation. She also offered for me and a guest to come in and have dinner on the house. I was hesitant to go, but I thought its only fair to give them a fair shot. My friend and I went and we were greeted very warmly by the manager(who said he had been expecting me) who swiftly took us to our table. We immediately were asked about water and given our menus. In fact, the server even asked us if we thought the music was too loud. We said its fine, even though it was, but I am not in the habit of having music volume adjusted to my liking so to fairly judge the restaurant, I didn’t want a hand in adjusting it. Drinks were first. We read over the margarita menu and asked our server if she thought our selections sounded good. I got the Serranorita– and my friend who was with me actually had eaten at the restaurant before(but also had a terrible experience) and said that she had a jalapeño marg the last time and that it was so spicy it was undrinkable. The Serranorita was also a peppery cocktail so I spoke to the waitress and said I had concerns about the heat. She said it should be fine. My friend got the Blue Agave. We received our drinks and though my drink was spicy, it was perfect for me. However, she did say the bartender altered the original recipe so beware if you order this. The Blue Agave was gross– too sweet and made with way to much tequila. After that, we ordered apps– got the queso fondito and the guacamole and 2 salsas. The chips were nice and light and the guac was decent. The salsas had a lot of good flavor and the queso was amazing! it came out on a skillet served with tortillas– yummy! I also got the gazpacho salad because i am a big fan of gazpacho and thought the flavors would be the same. Save yourself the trouble and skip it– it was pretty boring. For our mains, my friend got the Ancho Chile Rubbed Filet and she said it was very good. I got the vegetarian tacos and they were pretty uneventful. We also got a side of the sweet potato fries– and can i just say YUM. For dessert we got the churros(because the other postres on the menu were not available). The churros were pretty good– but i am biased because I am comparing them to the churros at Los Dados which are perfect. All in all, the fries and the cheese were really good. Also the filet. The Serranito cocktail after it was dialed down a bit was amazing too. The service was superb. We were asked how we were doing almost every 5 minutes(yes it did get old) by our server(Kristine who was really professional and nice) and the manager. I have a strong feeling that we were receiving rather special service because they wanted to make sure we were happy and would return. I mean, they paid for our $ 150 dinner– which was super sweet. However, to be fair I kept looking over at the other tables to see how they were being treated. Maybe they werent getting the freshest chips or being asked how they were doing constantly, but they were being treated well, so I think I can say the service was pretty good for everyone. By the end of the meal, I have to say I felt for the restaurant. I think it did a decent job, and I even thought its a shame that its in a Sheraton hotel, because when you are inside the restaurant, you cant tell you are in a Sheraton hotel. Wish they could have a separate entrance or something. Anyway, hopefully they can make it! I would take a chance on it if you are in the area…
