This place needs to learn about customer service. Staff and management are completely rude when you have questions about the menu. The food is overrated and overly greasy and with the bad attitude staff makes it even worse.

Located withn the Manhattan — NY «Theater District», adjacent Times Square, sits Saju. With exception of the name itself, this review is a fervent testament towards Saju being your run of the mill Mama/Papa establishment, yielding mediocre cuisine at exorbitant prices. Given the variance in eateries conveyed within the city of Los Angeles, we made our way to this eatery over the course of the New Years holiday weekend and trotted in to a relatively embracing ambiance. Having spent a portion of my childhood in France, Saju managed to conjure a sense of nostalgia — from the dangling chandeliers down to the elegant, if not downright romantic atmosphere. Had we not dined for breakfast/brunch, we’d likely have been all the more impressed. We were seated with relative hesitation as there was no one present to greet us. Shortly thereafter we were offered H2O yet as it appears, service seemed to dissipate thereon. Our attendant, a young lady in her mid to late 20’s was«all over the place», neither of which included OURTABLE. It became apparent that despite the restaurant’s void in diners this particular morning, she was either hungover…, did NOT so much as care for her selected means of employment or perhaps even — there was something brewing«within the kitchen» that made her appear to be so scatter-brained and disheveled. FACT: Our orders took so long that we honestly forgot what we’d even ordered! Alleging a claim to fame of having the«best omelets in town», I partook in the creation of spinach and feta(maybe it was Gouda) omelet… not on the menu, with bacon because as we’re aware: BACONMAKES –EVERYTHING– BETTER!!! He, some other dish that took duly as long to arrive to the table as my own did. Having ordered grapefruit juice with the presentation of my water, said juice was presented by way of a shot glass. The duration of our wait alongside my thirsty epiglottis partitioned a refill and it was as if our server felt she was«doing me a favor» to replenish my glass. «Like sand through the uhm… shot glass — these are the days of our lives…» — upwards of 45 minutes later and still completely void of customers, our food FINALLY made way to our table. «His», side of bacon was overlooked and it was questioned whether or not he actually even ordered it. Nothing SCREAMMMS«customer service» like confirming an already screwed up order through last minute customer interrogation upon the remittance of one’s meal. –__– As we awaited for the bacon to be microwaved, we caught wind of another diner, who’d just been seated, arguing with our server who’d been MIA the entire duration of all of our waits. As it appeared, our bacon had been added to his omelet when he’d actually requested ham. This guy set it off like a scene from a Netflix movie and whereas this situation could’ve been diffused with relative ease, our server pulled her manager aside… DIRECTLYINFRONTOFTHECUSTOMER only to commence with the engaging of a «he said, she said» battle. This nightmare was so undeniably tactless that I requested our check ONTHESPOT!!! As luck would have it, this was the most expeditious portion of our encounter. Two omelets and a few sides as well as our beverages engendered a $ 65.00 tab!!! #un-frikkin-believable!!! Need I say, we were dinged for EVERYTHING!!! Spinach…extra! Bacon(both inclusive to my omelet and for the side)…extra! Cheese… extra! Refill of grapefruit juice(and OJ)…extra(despite their being no notation that«refills weren’t on the house». Since it’s likely to be perceptible that we DIDNOT leave a tip upon the conclusion of this meal, allow me to leave one now… $ $ $ $ TIP: The key words within the phrase«customer service» are a. CUSTOMER and(wait for it,…wait for it…) …b. SERVICCCCE! It goes without a need for stating that going AWOL, not once but repeatedly, within a customer’s meal — only to berate them for self-imposed oversights and/or correctable offenses… DIRECTLYINFRONTOFTHEM, works completely in opposition of said phrase. Saju — GETITTOGETHER. Come correctly, or simply don’t come at all.

While staying at the hotel mela, they gave me a voucher fur breakfast. The restaurant offered an excellent breakfast. The service was first rate and could not have been quicker. There was no pressure to eat and get going. The atmosphere is very comfy. Will definitely like to return to check out dinner. The said they have late night service.

The sliders are heaven and the fries perfection. The wait staff is very fast, almost too fast, but they can get you fed and on your way to the theater. Great choice in Times Square.

I have eaten at Saju several times over the past couple of years, mostly business dinners, but a coupe of times with friends and family. It is consistently excellent. The food is superb and the service attentive and timely. I highly recommend it!

This place is an oasis off the Bryant park bustle. You step in it feels like a bistro in the south of France but with better service. We sat by s small window. It was lovely and actually quiet. There’s a hum as the restaurant got busy but maybe it’s the old wood of the bar or floors but it just never reached thr cacophonous levels I’m accustomed to in that area. They offer all the French classic cocktails, wine and even beer. I had the chèvre chaud salad. It was a good quality goat cheese in two tartlette shells. No quite chaud more room temp. Salad was underdressed. The escargot were served in an escargot dish. Each escargot bathing in a sauce of butter garlic and parsley. They were fresh, not too chewy and had no grit. The beet and burrata was plentiful. It came with cubed golden, red, chiogga roasted beets and a small globe of the cheese. Prices area very reasonable for the area. Meaning they don’t seem to jack up the prices for the business clientele. I’ll be back.

Came here before heading out to work for the night. Nice looking place with a good menu, decided to give it a try. The moment we got to the table the waiter came over and was asking us if we wanted anything to drink. I don’t mind but literally we are still standing with our coats on trying to get to our seats –It wasn’t even crowded. We placed our orders and food came out in a timely fashion. I was feeling basic so I just ordered the house burger. It was delicious and the fries were fresh. Food gets five stars. When we finished our coffee the waiter disappeared. It was well over time to leave(plus I had work) and he never came back. So we went to the front and asked to pay. He then came out asking if we had a good meal and trying to rush out compliments that were just unnecessary. When my friend went to pay, the waiter turned around and then did the most dramatic eye roll. We were nothing but nice to the dude. But that’s alright he rolled his eyes just before we got to the tip line . Anyways don’t let this experience make you not want to go. It was really good food — we just got a snooty waiter . I’d come back but not for a long time.

I looked forward to the escargot but was disappointed that it wasn’t fresh. Instead it’s these little black pieces of chewy who-knows-when-they-got-out-of-the-shell snail meat. The smothering in garlic butter didn’t do them any good. Ordered the pâté too and don’t get me started on that. It was nowhere near anything French. It was more like a piece of minced meat out of a can. Ordered the bouillabaisse(think fish stew). Now that saved what could have been a really bad dinner. I’d probably still come back to this place if only for this. Hence the 3 stars.

Excellent service Food well priced Took us on the spot on a Saturday night at 11pm right after a Broadway show and were highly accommodating with young children that were ready to pass out

Perfect. Exactly what we were looking for before a Wednesday Matinée at the St James. We did not have reservations but the Owner arranged for our party of three to sit at one of the open window tables, to enjoy several small dishes and cocktails. Being able to sit in the open air while enjoying excellent food and service before a fun musical are what life’s special moments are all about! Thank You Saju

Cute space. This is my go-to hideaway when I come to the city for work. Located in the Theater district, you get a fun mix of people that come in here. I typically sit at the small bar and soak up the atmosphere with the cheerful music, dimly lit wine bottles, and foreign movies playing in the corner. I normally get the Papardelle with Beef Cheek Ragu, which is typically very tender and hits the spot. I’ve tried the Seafood Medley as well but preferred the Ragu. The desserts are quite good as well. Service has varied when I’ve been here, sometimes they’re on the ball and other times I’ve had to work hard to get the staff’s attention, even at the bar. Overall though I look forward to coming back here on my next trip and I need a quick meal somewhere.

Love this place for pre theater dinner. Always sit at the bar when I’m here and the food/wine is always consistent. Gals behind the bar are attentive and give good service. Salmon was perfect. Good food!!! reasonable prices. Dinner with wine under $ 60

It has really been awhile since I dined in French restaurant. Saju Bistro at the Theater District in Midtown Manhattan reminded me of how fine the French inspired dining experience can be. The dining hall is adorned by various chandeliers accentuated by a high ceiling. The ambiance is cozy and romantic, the table setting was arranged to casual elegant, the table for two were comfortable and spacious. As soon as we are seated, the waiter served us a bowl of mixed olives marinated with olive oil with garlic, baguette and butter. The Provencal Fare dominated the dinner menu. I selected the off menu French version of Spaghetti Bolognese, it tasted really good, the ingredients are fresh and it went beautifully well with a modest bottle of Pinot Grigio. The customer service was awesome. Upon request of the check, our server complemented us with a variety of home made cookies. Certainly a place to be recommended.

Visited this place for the first time a few days ago with my long distance boyfriend, who is from New Jersey, and all we can say is that it was average at best. I’m from Houston and it was my first time in New York, so I didn’t really know what to except from this place since I’ve never heard it and he’s never cared to stop by the place himself. We had eaten a few hours earlier so we only stopped for drinks and got an appetizer. Boyfriend ordered a beer and I settled for water. They waiter sucked at checking up on us. Pretty sure he didn’t care whether he did or not. He seemed rude and impatient. Didn’t really come off friendly in any way. It wasn’t packed at all and the appetizer and drinks took a while to get to us. Which was bit odd to me for the drinks at least. We ordered the French onion soup and calamari. The calamari was decent enough but the French onion soup wasn’t really good. Both dishes were warm, not hot at all so we wondered whether if the food had already been sitting. I give it two stars only because the atmosphere was comforting to me. We were there at night and the dimly lit room and candles gave me a nice vibe. That’s about it though, unfortunately.

I went for a pre theater dinner and the service as fast. The food was fine, nothing great! I had mussels and they tasted sort of so strongly of the wine(it was as if the alcohol hadn’t been cooked off) they were a little hard to eat. This place wasn’t a giant chain like most of times square and I liked that!

Came to this restaurant since it was right next door to our hotel(Hotel Mela). We made reservations for a Sunday brunch. This place looks like it gets a lot of traffic. Their reservation spots fill up fast. Even though we made a reservation, it took them a long time to seat us. When the host finally greeted us, it was brusque and he quickly said, «I’ll be with you in a moment.» After several moments, a different man came and got us and sat us down. I wanted some coffee and some water and our waiter took awhile to even get to us and get our drink orders. After about 10 minutes, a waiter showed up, quickly asked what we wanted to drink and left before my husband and I could tell him that we were ready to order. Obviously, he was really busy. The busboys, the host, and the waiters all seemed to be all over the place. The table next to us kept being given the wrong order. They kept telling the busboys that no, the orange juice wasn’t for them and no, they did not order the plate of bacon. Everything just seemed chaotic and the workers didn’t even look like they knew what they were doing. It was all disorganized and a bit frustrating when all I wanted was my cappuccino on that Sunday morning. When we were finally able to get our order in, it was another 20 minute wait for the food to arrive. Now, if the food was actually good or spectacular, I wouldn’t mind the long waits and the mess of this restaurant. However, it was all average. My french toast was your average french toast. My husband’s omelette was good but it had nothing different to offer. For an average meal, it was overprice. It felt more of a hassle to eat breakfast here than a convenience. When we got our check, our waiter apoligized for the long wait. So he had noticed… huh. Didn’t come back here for dinner or lunch so not sure how they are like during those hours. Not sure if I would ever recommend this place to anyone.

I am being generous giving them a 3 stars. Not that the food was not good, but the attitude of the waitress was unbearable. We came in a little bit late for breakfast, right between breakfast and lunch, and we got the most unpleasant meal ever, well at least that is how i felt. She was never once cracked a smile, came to us in the attitude of eat fast and get the F out of here. The food was good. I would understand if they have politely told us that breakfast is about to be over and would you mind doing lunch with us? I wouldn’t mind at all, but I hate it the most when you show horrible attitudes.
