This is my go to spot for groceries, it’s almost like a mini whole foods in regards to the brands the carry. I don’t know about the quality of the produce but I get tomatoes and they’re always fine. Not a lot of frozen food but tons of pasta and pasta sauces. Also, sort of to my surprise, a large number of craft-ish beers. It gets pretty busy around lunch but they check everyone out very quickly. The packaged food is a bit overpriced but there isn’t anywhere that close that’s open as late with the same options.

BEST iced coffee in the area, I don’t know what they do but its seriously amazing. Breakfast items are also really good. Service is quick and the staff are so friendly. Sandwiches are decent and the place is clean and affordable.

This place has a markup of over 50% on numerous items. After living in the area for some time, it’s astounding how high the markup is on their items. The same pancake mix was 68% higher than options across West Street in Battery Park. Six packs of beer are roughly 70% higher than Duane Reade a couple blocks to the East.

The B&W cookie had a lemon taste to it, odd but good. My daughter had a piece of cake and enjoyed it. I would go back for sure. I get a «family owned» feel so that makes it even more likely I go back.

All my friends refer to it as, «the world’s most expensive bodega». I checked my bank statement last month and I’ve spent at least $ 250 if not more at this place on average on a monthly basis. Expect to pay at least 30−40% markup what you pay elsewhere. Sure, the variety is great and they pretty much have everything you’re looking for. But jeez those tourists are getting shafted. Exception: breakfast sandwiches,?!? I reguarly get egg whites, 2 slices of swiss on a toasted english muffin and it’s around $ 2.75. Cheaper than elsewhere. Who knows.

I walked in & they almost had everything. I tried 2 different sandwiches & both were really tasty. I recommend the Italian sandwich but there chicken cutlet was pretty delicious as well. The side salads were amazing, they hooked it up! This will def. be my go to deli in the financial district!!! You are my hero(sandwich) variety market!!! Pun intended!

The one clean, affordable deli in this area(at least in my limited experience comparing other places nearby). They also put in special effort & seem to be good with regulars as I saw conversations between the staff and some of them. Food was okay. I’d go back if I were in the area.

For all the delis in this area, this is one of the best ones. I can get everything I need at almost any time of day. Their hot bar used to be really good but it’s not so great anymore. I do like their sandwiches. And their prices for grocery items are not so bad for how convenient it is.

I like this deli best of all those that I checked out so far in Financial District. I find myself getting lunch from this deli a few times a week. First positive: this is the only deli that I found which offers hot food option where you get meat with two sides. They seem to have different meat choices on different days. Some of the recent offerings were: Chicken Marsala, Chicken Francese, Oxtail Stew, Pork Loin. Hot turkey is offered every day. Thus on any day that lacks more appealing options a pile of white meat turkey with steamed vegetables and some sort of carbs for the second side makes a satisfying hot lunch. Second positive: the salad offering is okay. I like flat pricing for a salad with the stated number of ingredients. I don’t like how other delis advertise $ 3 for a salad and variable prices for each ingredient, and after you’ve picked just a few you end up getting charged $ 11! I also like that they give you bread: it’s a tiny piece, but I think it’s a nice touch. $ 7.95 for a small salad with meat and 5 more ingredients is the lowest price I came across since Café Tomato on Fulton Street closed. Here’s what I don’t like. They never seem to have my favorite choices for hot food, which are baked salmon and Chicken Cordon Bleu. My favorite side is mac and cheese, and it’s hard to catch at Variety. For their salads, they don’t offer salmon or shrimp as a main ingredient. They do offer smoked turkey, but it is shredded too thin as are the cheeses. Café Tomato had nice chunky cubes of turkey and of cheeses. Also I don’t recommend their chicken parm hero special. Here’s how they make it: they take a hero and pour tomato sauce on both sides. Then they take a pre-made chicken cutlet — the same one you’d get if you just ordered chicken cutlet on, say, a roll. They slice that cutlet, put it on a hero and top it with a couple of slices of cheese, then run it through the toaster oven. To me that’s not chicken pram — it’s chicken cutlet with cheese and tomato sauce sandwich. Also it was too salty: the aftertaste stayed in my mouth for the entire afternoon. Finally: the place is too cramped and it’s all because of a stand with snacks right in the middle of the place.

Stopped in for lunch the other day and had a great experience. My sandwich was fresh and tasty and they have tantalizing goodies to satisfy any sweet tooth.

I am glad I stumbled upon this place. Sometimes you just need a quick snack. they are very versatile in what they are providing. They have everything from fruit, to hot lunches and deli sandwiches, candy, potato chips and etc. But expect it to be expensive. It is after all down the street from the 9⁄11 memorial which attracts a lot of tourists.

Beware when you check out, the cashiers are NOTNICE and they are too busy talking on the phone to actually ring correct prices(if they even have set prices for things) so they just make up whatever they want quickly and then give you the grand total like it’s so annoying to them that they have to go through this process, even though it’s there job! I have gone a few times because it is super convenient for me to stop here before hopping on the 1 train home but I will not be going again! They, twice, actually grabbed my money out of my hands as I was counting it to pay!!! Unbelievable! DONOTGOHERE!

It is indeed a nice new market with a nice selection of over-priced semi gourmet foods and drinks. The reason I have to give them 1 star is because the cashiers often make up prices for items or ring you up incorrectly. If you don’t pay attention(I rarely did before), they end up charging you an extra $ 2-$ 5 for your entire purchase. I didn’t realize this until my boyfriend pointed it out to me one day. He shops there frequently as well, and has caught the cashiers adding a quarter here and there(which adds up quickly when you are buying a bunch of stuff). I don’t know if they’re doing it intentionally or if they’re just bad at their job and make lots of mistakes, but this happens nearly every time we buy anything there, and we’ve never been undercharged. I’d like to think that they are decent people, but after being taken for a fool too many times, I’m coming to think that there are some dishonest people working behind the cash register. I try not to give them my business anymore, but sometimes I crave coconut water, and they’re the closest place that carries it. I watch them ring up every item now, and when I see a price discrepancy, I do call them out on it. Note that the person ringing me up would always feign innocence when I call them out on it and ask another cashier what the price is, then the other cashier would sometimes agree with the fake jacked-up price, and I would have to drag the cashier over to the fridge to show her the price tag, and THEN she’ll begrudgingly ring up the correct price. They’re banking on people in a hurry who can’t care less, or people who don’t pay attention. They even have the nerve to ring up stuff that has a price tag on it at a higher amount oftentimes. A lot of delis in NY don’t list prices for every single item. I’d steer clear of those items at Variety Market if I were you. Even if the item has a price tag on it, make sure you watch every item being rung up. Shop with caution, and don’t let them take advantage of you! I’m going to look into filming them and reporting them to the authorities somehow. Side note: for those of you who live in the area, and don’t mind crossing the West Side Highway for gourmet goodies, check out the Battery Place Market that just opened up under the Visionaire a few weeks ago. Now that’s a real gourmet market. Prices are par for Battery Park(pretty expensive), but at least they’re honest people and it’s a really nice store(think Dean & Deluca but nicer). And I found arugula for under $ 4 a box, which is not bad at all for the area! We desperately need better food shops in Battery Park and Greenwich South! Someone needs to get rid of the Gristedes down here as well. Whole Foods is nice, but I hate how expensive it is.

This small but very well stocked market is the life raft of all that live between Battery Park and the WTC along Greenwich. It is an amazing little shop where you can find pretty much anything you need, at anytime. Their hours are great, located right outside the Rector St 1 station makes it easy for me to stop by and pick up anything I need for that evening. They also deliver. I love how the fridge is stocked with Greek yogurt, coconut water and all the great goodies. The food they serve is also well prepared, and the staff is so friendly. Often I stop by with the dog and they will bring my order outside, I tend to call ahead when I need to do so. They are a little pricey, but then again what isn’t in NYC?

I stumbled onto this new market while taking a much needed break from a bad day at work. It is a brand new market and deli with a good selection of quality produce and deli food. The staff is very friendly. After having only visited once, on my second visit the sandwich guy remembered me and asked me if I wanted the same sandwich. I have since gone a couple of times a week for the past week because a: they are open until midnight b: there is such a wide variety. The salad bar is small but sufficient. Great sandwich choices. And because its a real market, there are plenty of other healthy(and unhealthy) snacks you can pick up. It’s also convenient for me because I can stop and get produce on my way home to cook, but I think FiDi residents will find this market a huge improvement to what in the area. They don’t yet have a website or menu, but according to the flyer, they are open Mon-Sat 6am-12AM and Sun 6AM-10PM
