I probably get into a fight with the door guys here at least once every couple years. Every time I go I have to be brace myself for whatever stupidity they may throw my way. Sometimes it’s painless, but sometimes it’s a problem and someone inside has to come out and grab me and tell the door guy to chill, The door guys ALWAYSNOMATTERWHAT, ask me so many questions it’s just like SHUTUP and let me in who cares where my friends went to school and why im in nyc. I know what you’re thinking… might just be friendly conversation. But no, they are asking like they are deciding whether or not to let me in, like it’s a test. It’s so embarrassing for them. Just check my ID and let me in. Im getting in with or without you letting me. Once inside it’s a nice spot but nothing amazing. I will admit I have had some pretty fun and crazy nights here. But it’s almost not worth the experience at the door.

Went for a friend’s birthday. Band was amazing, however it is very loud so it was impossible to talk to anyone. The drinks were good but very expensive. The bartender in the back bar was very rude.

What an amazing evening I had at Rose Bar! I plan to come back many times. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, an absolutely amazing jazz band plays the most beautiful live music you’ve ever heard. So talented! We arrived early at 6 pm, the bar was mostly empty and we found seating at the bar. More and more people trickled in prior to show start time at 8 pm. At 8 pm, the place was packed solid. A well-behaved and mature crowd. We even had a celebrity sighting — Richard Gere and his girlfriend. Even without Gere(he’s not my type), the atmosphere was electric. Just electric. Made my day, made my week, made my whole year. The jazz band plays a few sets(until 10 pm I think) in front of the fireplace. There’s seating at a few sofas and the bar, though you’re going to want to be standing right by the band when they’re playing because they are just so good. You can’t help but start moving to the music. Such passion, such art. I’ve already decided I’m bringing all of my out of town guests here to impress them and show them a good time. To say that the interior of Rose Bar is inviting and sexy is an understatement. Be sure to check out the Gramercy Park Hotel lobby(where Rose Bar resides), it’s extravagant, dark and elegant. Service was friendly at the bar. Rose Bar is to the right and then through the doorway to the left as you enter the lobby. What an unexpected find. What an amazing Tuesday night in New York City.

Rose bar is VERY cool. The décor is very posh and sexy. I’ve been twice now and the service has always been up to par. The music is the best part! I love rap but it’s fun to hear rock music and switch it up a bit. The GM is a gentleman and came around throughout the night to make sure our table was taken care of. Definitely a fan and will be coming back.

Slow service even though the place was pretty empty with overpriced drinks. Not too crazy about the décor and ambience — everything is very dark.

Met friends for drinks here before heading to another restaurant. I loved the décor and ambience. It really is an incredibly stylish bar. On line it describes the rose bar and jade bar as seemingly separate, but truth is one just flows into the other, and really only the color palette separates them. I loved the oversized couches, adored the art on the walls and the general lighting and vibe was great. It’s a mixed bunch in here, not really a certain type of clientele. The service was good, albeit a little slow, the cocktails were OK. They are not the best mixed in the world and for that reason alone I’m dropping the star. There are now hundreds of bars where the bartender knows how to craft a good cocktail and maybe it was our bartender, but their skill was lacking. That being said, I’d come back again because the ambience and vibe are interesting and fun.

The bouncer is a racist(gentleman w a beard). I had a hotel room there and had a drink and my leather jacket inside the club when I went out to bring in my brother. I was told to exit the club and wait in line… No reason provided. After fifteen minutes of complying, I asked what the process was as my sisters inside were waiting. The individual who made me wait informed me I had to ask permission from the main bouncer to which I asked why was I not informed of this earlier and my drink/jacket were inside. This person let me in and told me I could get my stuff. As I was exiting the bar, the«main bouncer» began scolding me, telling me «I don’t give a shit about your room. You are not welcomed in this bar ever» and I obviously became frustrated And went off on him. This is an EMBARRASSMENTOFANESTABLISHMENT with no clear checks and balances. I am disgusted spending money at a place like this that fosters such behavior. As I stood aside waiting to get in, I heard his chauvinist comments to women in line. DISGUSTING and Im embarrassed that the Gramercy Hotel staff recognized it as a separate entity. What a joke.

Even though the Gramercy Park Hotel is regarded as an historic landmark, it underwent a total renovation in 2005. The Rose Bar and the surrounding lobby look like they’ve been there for decades, its barely a decade old. Having said that, the illusion of being in a bar with historic patina works. It is a pleasant space with two bars, the one in front with large windows overlooking the approach to Gramercy Park. Cocktails are decent, not great. Service can be slow, even when it’s not busy. What draws me here is the overall ambiance, the European feel of the surrounding the hotel, especially Gramercy Park – which has the feel of a London park/square. You need a key to get into the park – it’s private – which the hotel will provide. I mainly like coming here on a Sunday afternoon, when there is still daylight.

This place is definitely out of my list not because of their tight door policy but because of their rude doorman. Admittedly, the door policy should be tight as for an exclusive place. However, this does not means that their doorman should be rude and offensive. Especially to a lady with very decent dress(Première fur, handcraft tailored dress, Jimmy Choo shoe and YSL bag, I do not want to show off but I’m frequently invited to the VIP room of the designer store to have champgane.) I visited the place at 11:30pm and seat in the lounge to wait for my friends. After I receiving the message from him that he was stuck in a business dinner, I decided to enter the bar myself. The doorman asked me that whether I had a reservation or live in the hotel. I said no. He said come to this place other time before . I said ok. Things are ok so far. But something happened later was really unacceptable. I checked the Unilocal when I finished my left sip in my glass in the lounge. Then I saw the reservation policy on Unilocal, showed the doorman what’s on the Unilocal and tried to ask the doorman whether that’s the reason why I was declined. The doorman reached out a hand and covered my phone’s screen, refusing to see it. When someone else came, he walked up to them with a very flattered expression, trying to show his enthusiasm while gave me an extremely arrogant attitude. After taking care of other customers, he turned to his phone and said I need to respond to this and then I would give you a second. After about a minute, he still reached out his hand to cover my phone screen and refused to take a look. He said I can not confirm with u about this. Cool. I know Rose bar is cool and exclusive. I did not mind that u turned me down because of the reservation rule and friendly informed me that what time should I come without a reservation. I appreciate that. But the latter reaction of doorman to me really sucks. Or because I’m an young Asian woman with myself? Should I believe that it is a kind of Race discrimination. Because of this experience, I would definitely tell my friends who always patron the Rose bar to never go there because I feel being insulted and treated impropriate. And I thought it is also necessary to tell my friends who work in the top fashion magazine about my experience, let them share that on their Facebook.

Charming, seductive, and perfectly candlelit lounge! It’s hard to tell this place existed from the outside but once when you’re inside you are immediately transfixed by the décor, particularly the artwork. I liked the fact that they had a pool table and heard they have music as well on busier nights. I came here on a Monday and all the tables were taken so it must be a happening spot!

I wanted to check this place out for a while now and got the opportunity to do so last week Wednesday. My gf invited me to meet up with her friends who are quite the regulars here. I had heard that the door can be pretty tight so yes it DOES help if you go with someone who knows«people». I really wanted to like this place and while I can’t say I did… I think it had more to do with personal preferences. This place IS rather lovely, luxe and beautifully decorated, exactly what you would expect from a place that charges an arm and leg for drinks. The crowd is interesting to say the least. I knew it wasn’t my type of scene when we got there and I saw ladies waiting outside with their very voluptuous«assets» hanging out and overly painted faces. Maybe that’s not the regular crowd but that was my experience on a Wednesday night around 10pm ish. Once you go through the hotel, the bar is on the side and there is a man standing in front of heavy dark curtains. I walked in first and was almost stopped at the door until the doorman recognized my gf’s friends walking in right behind me. So I got in only through affiliation with«somebodies» that know«somebody» lol. We made our way to the bar and found a corner space to settle down and grab drinks. While we didn’t have to pay for our own drinks(courtesy of my gfs generous friend) I can only imagine the $$$$ that was spent for the first round of drinks. On my way to the bathroom I did get stopped by an older gentleman whose pickup line consisted of «My friend is a doctor.» Haha, I kid you not! I chalked it up to funny and harmless. I can’t knock this place, I think I would have sought after places like this when I first moved to NYC8 years ago and brainwashed by the glamorous nightlife scenes from SATC. Now that I’m older, I think I just prefer a no hassle low maintenance scene. I will say, this is definitely a beautiful swanky place one should visit at least once and get it out of your system.

The absolute worst troll looking doorman who tried to steer myself and two other good looking ladies out since we didn’t have a «reservation.» When was the last time you needed a reservation to go to a bar and who put this awful human being in charge? Horrible. Waste of time.

Overrated with a door held by 3 goons who can’t think for themselves by maintaining a no admittance to a celebrity chef, and international designer and two physicians who are all well dressed and well behaved. Reason being: no reservation even though the place was empty. I understand the policies however, i do expect managment to hire at least one of the goons at the door to have more than 2 brain cells, to think that by making an exception will win the type of customer they are looking for in the the first place, given that the place was completely empty. Why did we want to go in? Well we operate restaurants in another city and we wanted to have a drink in what we thought to be a cool place. In retrospect, wasteof time and energy arguing with a person who did not make it past grade 8. Advice stay away.

Came here for drinks with my coworkers on a Thursday right after they opened at 5PM. It was already difficult to find a table, but we managed to find one. What a BEAUTIFUL space. The art was fantastic, seats comfortable, and ambiance relaxing but still very, very swanky. Definitely an upscale joint, and was glad I was wearing a dress and not jeans. Drinks: I had the Longberry for $ 19. It was okay, but I wasn’t wild about it. I decided to switch gears and order a goose martini, slightly dirty. That drink was mixed perfectly, and came with three delicious olives. Service: On point, even when it was getting packed as the night went on. Thanks for a great night, Rose Bar. Luckily our bill was on the company so I don’t have a hole burning through my wallet.

The Pineapple Ginger Margarita was amazing. It was the perfect blend of strong and sweet. It had quite the kick to it as well! The décor was interesting and unique, and the service was wonderful. We were very hungry after a long day in the city and ordered a few items off of the daytime menu. We had the chicken strips and fries as well as the flat bread. The flat bread was interesting, it used some sort of mushroom purée in place of red sauce which we were not a fan of. The chicken strips and fries were a simple, salty treat to have with our beverages. My only issue with Rose Bar is that the drinks were very pricey, and the quality of the drinks did not seem to match the quality or more so, type, of food offered. My recommendation would be to come here for one or two drinks for a special occasion.

There’s no arguing that the space is just gorgeous. It’s sexy and hip, but in such a more original way than so many bars, lounges, and hotels these days. Despite the grand tall ceilings, the art on the walls, the pool table, and the quirky touches here and there make it almost feel like someone’s home(a really fancy someone). That being said, I still don’t know how often I’d like to come back for a $ 18 martini. I know cocktails in NYC are expensive, but that is just a bit too high for me. And though I was there early in the evening so there was no problem getting in, getting served, or finding a seat, I have little to no patience for sceney places where you might not be able to get in or may have to wait in line, so unless it was a slow off hour I would probably avoid Rose Bar if I was in the area. It’s a beautiful space, worth seeing once, and then go find a good happy hour deal someplace else!

Summary: Places like this tick me off… a place that’s nothing special, masquerading as the place to be. I’m not sure why they make this spot so hard to get into when it’s nothing great. The Atmosphere: Very poshy décor with a crowd that seems to try too hard. The door is admittedly difficult, but can be circumvented by showing up early and just staying, just like most difficult-door places. The Drinks: Your standard fare. The taste is nothing great, although not bad either. I’m not sure the drinks warrant the price. I’ve been here a few times and have circumvented the door by just getting in early and sticking around. Basically the same strategy that worked in college works here; kind of shows you what age bracket the mentality of these people is stuck in.
