The doorman was so rude! Even offensive. Don’t know why they hire such kind of person in this elegant hotel.

It’s just ok. This place has been around for a while and I hadn’t been for a few years until last Friday when I went for a drink. I wasn’t that impressed with the cocktail my friend ordered me(was too sweet and not served in a glass with stem, which irks me) so I switched to a rose which was pretty good and well chilled. It’s alright for one drink or a night cap and of course the art and décor in this hotel is beautiful.

Buyer beware! From a recent visit to their«Jade Bar», they added a significant amount for the tip to your bill without notifying you. So, if like me, you are unaware of this ploy, you will inadvertently double-tip on the bill. Even though I contacted the business office once i discovered this matter(the following day), they did not return my call and are not agreeing to refund the additional tip that i had not initial knowledge or intent to make. Rip Off!!!

I believe this bar was created to assuage the degenerates of society who don’t make the cut for Rose Bar. If you’re driving your 3– series cabriolet BMW into the city from New Jersey wearing the newest bedazzled Nanette Lepore dress complete with a Burberry scarf… you probably gave this bar five stars. And while there is nothing actually wrong with this bar per say, being seen drinking here just might be the equivalent of social suicide. Q: Who takes a cocktail at Jade Bar when one could simply walk 20 meters and have a drink at Rose Bar? A: See second sentence of this review. As repulsive as that may sound, and despite everything I just said, I do appreciate this bar. Jade Bar is to Gramercy Park Hotel as Le Bain is to The Standard. Just in case you need some perspective on that analogy… Rose Bar is to Gramercy Park Hotel as Boom Boom Room is to the Standard. If Karl Marx was completing this critique, he might remark that Jade Bar is equivalently the opium of the people. Necessary, but completely vile.

$ 19 for a drink? You’ve got to be kidding me! I know it’s New York and all, but that’s expensive! I really wasn’t wowed by the ambiance. There are a lot of bars in NYC that have the same feel and aren’t that pricey.

Tiny sliver of space in the front of the jaw droppingly gorgeous, haute bohemian decored hotel. It’s really the bar for the unlucky ones that weren’t able to get into the more extravagant(by extravagant I mean larger than a bird’s next), Rose Bar. You need to make reservations 24 hours in advance by emailing: or coming before 10pm, but I mean who really starts the night off before midnight anyways? No amount of eyelash batting, ear stroking, or sweet talking could get us past those curtained doors. We managed to convince a nice gentleman who tried to get us in with the back security doorman, the front security doorman, and THEN attempting to pay off the back security guy. No luck. But thank you Rob, for your valiant efforts! So we resigned ourselves to stay with the rest of the peasants in Jade Bar. Drinks were a shocking $ 19 each. But I have to say, my lavender infused cucumber cocktail was delicious, but you really have to be a high roller here. Crowd is easy on the eyes, but then again, everyone looks better in the dark. Mood is intimate and sexy. Space gets 4 stars but the sheer cost of a drink knocks off a star.

Jade Bar is a beautiful bar… and that’s the only nice thing I have to say about it. It’s inside of the Gramercy Park Hotel right off the lobby. We asked if we could be seated at a table. We were taken to two empty spots on couches already occupied by another group. I was sitting two inches away from the girl next to me. I was no where near tipsy enough to be all up on some random chick. It was just awkward. On top of that it was taking entirely too long for someone to take our drink order. We decided to leave and have drinks someplace else. I’d be willing to come back to check out Rose Bar and that’s about it.

Nice enough small bar just off the lobby of the Gramercy Park Hotel. I made the mistake of stopping for a Jack Daniels while waiting for a friend. $ 17.00 — maybe they wanted a few bucks extra since I had it over ice :). Granted I am not familiar with bar drink prices in NYC.

Perhaps I’m not appreciative enough of art and décor, but Jade Bar really did not do it for me. There’s not much space, so you’re plain out of luck if you can’t get a table or a seat at the bar. The drinks are overpriced… an Amstel Light costs $ 9? Come on… I will say that the atmosphere is nice to converse in, as it’s not too loud. There’s a weird side door though that blows in a bunch of cold air in the wintertime… it’s easy enough to walk in the main entrance and hang a quick right into the bar. Oh, and the service was pretty unimpressive. I know it gets busy, but it shouldn’t take that long to come around and take everyone’s order. Leaving people high and dry at an expensive bar just isn’t cool. All in all, veni, vidi, but there wasn’t much conquering to be done. It was nice to look at, but I don’t go to a bar to watch other people drink.

What do Warhol, Damien Hirst, Enoc Perez and Julian Schnabel have in common? Other than kicking butt, they’re all hanging up at the GPH and Jade Bar. This place is really special and for a special occasion. The crowd is certainly 30plus and the prices $$$, so come prepared. The ginger martini rocks. No food until midnight which surprised us, but we walked down to a cool sushi place nearby so that didn’t bother in the end. Overall, I’d say I’m glad I have been there, but will not be returning any time soon.

I came here with some work colleagues the other night after a dinner meeting for a couple of drinks. I think the idea was to go to Rose Bar, but were nowhere near on anybody’s list. We were all in suits and they were not impressed by our Ferragamo ties, so we were relegated to Jade Bar. As I sat there, I wondered how many people actually wanted to be at Jade Bar or were more like us: Rose Bar rejects. That’s ok, Jade definitely hit the spot. The hotel is an older building, so the bar space has a bit of an old-world charm coziness, but it is not at all stuffy. Also, the Gramercy Park Hotel where it resides is ultra-hip, so the design was err… umm…ultra-hip & cozy. The bar is dimly lit with candles everywhere, and heavy velvety curtains, creating a nice ambience. We got a table and ordered some drinks. The service was very good. Our server was very friendly. She greeted us immediately, brought us drink menus and promptly delivered drinks after ordering. No condescending looks, no sighs of disgust, no «those annoying suits want another round, ugh». We had our drinks and we had a great time, and ended up forgetting all about that Rose Bar whatever it is place.

I had a difficult time deciding on how I would actually rate the Jade Bar. This small intimate space is a nice alternative without having to travel far if you are unable to enter into the gates of heaven at the Rose Bar. 5 Stars automatically go for being one of the sexiest spaces with the most beautiful clientele in NYC. There are no B&T club kids here, but tastefully and beautifully dressed patrons sipping their $ 20+ a pop creations. I would only go back to people watch. The Jade Bar’s cocktails are the only items on the menu that I would consider drinking. If you want a 12 year old macallan go elsewhere where you do not have to spend $ 25 on it. Their online menu is a bit different than the actual print menu. When you get there you will find the Pierre Jouet is $ 100 more on that menu. Outside of the cocktails that JB has created it is just any other bar with a spectacular interior designer. The bartender knows his mixology and is incredibly friendly. In the end I am happy I came in to sit down.

I’ll start with the good. The space is beautiful and I dig the art on the walls, including pieces by Keith Haring and Damien HIrst. On the down side, though, $ 25 for a glass of McCallan 12 Years seems a big extreme. My bro had two glasses of Oban 14 Years for the low price of $ 40. I mean… really? Maybe I’m not enough of a high roller for this place, but I felt slightly raped after paying my bill.

This place is more cramped than the space inside the third roll on an obese person’s back. Way too much deep, dark, velvet. Drinks too expensive to not have flames shooting out of them, and diamond dust in the ice cubes. Try your best at getting into the Rose Bar instead.

$ 20 for a vodka soda??? That’s pretty weak in my book, considering it wasn’t even top shelf. It is beautiful inside, though. Small but beautiful.

L and I began our Sunday evening here this week, we were trying to check out Rose but it is closed on Sundays apparently. Anyway, it was a nice cozy little bar. The waitress sat us between two couples having a nice romantic drink. This is where she and I realized we were dating, and I was the dude because I kept texting to check the score on the Giants game(woohoo!). The atmosphere was nice, actually pretty quiet, music wasn’t too loud. Service was okay, waitress seemed a little slow for the fact that there weren’t that many of us who braved the freezing temps for a bev that evening. Drinks: I ordered the Diamonds and Pearls(a la artist formerly known as taphcap) which was made with vodka, lillet blanc, and muddled blackberries. I thought it was delicious and not too sweet. L had the Bohemian Sidecar with cognac, sugar, and ginger. Hers came with a cute garni of a natural sugar pop on a stick. It was good, a little too sweet for my liking, and well I don’t care much for the brown booze. The crowd was light, and touristy. We dress up on the weekends for our nights out, there were some peeps in ill fitting jeans and not cute tops. There was a guy in a sweatshirt with sequins on it, yeah, he actually pushed me at one point. We left after one drink, hoping to come back to try Rose bar. Jade was nice, but a little too quiet for our taste. Oh and it’s quite pricey, but for a nice night out what isn’t?

The smaller and more striking bar in the Gramercy Park Hotel. You can either snag one of the small tables w/a friend, or post up at the bar on your lonesome. Either way, sit back and appreciate the lofty room and the artistic décor. In terms of quantity to quality ratio, this place is excellent. For such a small space, you can really spend a good amount of time here soaking up the mood and/or drinks. There’s some pretty decent art on the walls too: a big Julian Schnabel is the centerpiece. This is a great little bar New York bar in a very trendy hotel; some interesting patrons too. A chill spot to begin or end the evening.
