Ricky’s NYC

I always been a fan of Ricky’s as I am a make up junkie! During my first visit at this store, the sales assistant didn’t bother to assist me as they were busy talking with their colleagues most of the time. Unlike other Ricky’s store, the Sales Assistant are more attentive and helpful. I did asked the sales girl to assist me to look for some items in the store, but she seems a bit relunctant.
I also realized that this store has less products compared to other Ricky’s store.
P/​S: Guysss please visit other Ricky’s store!!! I wouldn’t recommend this store at all.

I hate coming to this location. One person behind the register will start helping you, walk away without saying anything, and 3 mins later someone new will be helping you

Really awesome store with super friendly and helpful staff. The woman at the front counter went out of her way to help me try to find a lipstick that was not in stock. It was not in fact in stock and she made it a point to ask one of the stock clerks to place the color on the next order.
Really very nice. I was impressed with and shocked by the array of beauty products offered at this store.

This is best Ricky’s location. Service is friendly, items are always organized and in stock.
I checked in and got a free comb, and they offered a bunch of samples too! Will definitely come back to this location, and not the soho one.

Lets start off this review by saying my hair is bright purple. Its been every shade of the rainbow at some point, and 99 percent of the dying has been done by myself and my extremely patient other half. I have absolutelly no idea to this day what I am doing.
That being said Ricky’s as a whole has been a life saver. They are able to answer my redundent questions and actually carry the products necessary for me to achieve my somewhat schizophrenic hair desires.
Recently I went into this location hoping to pick up 2 jars of my current color… all out. No big deal… happens all the time… I always have to buy a couple jars. Well the manager was down right annoyed that they were out of the product I wanted. She was kind enough to call other locations and try to track it down. Apparantly all Manhattan is out of violet night.
She took the time to talk me through some other options, answered completely unrelated questions, and was kind enough to extend a discount for my inconvenience… she was also the only reason I didn’t leave without making a purchase.
Seems like this location is where I will be going from now on.

I notice the reviews are mixed, but I have been in this store a lot over the years and I like this Ricky’s. Everyone there has always been cheerful and friendly with me. They’ve walked with me and helped me find what I wanted on a number of occasions.
I got short wellies there on a rainy day. First, the guy climbed up and all around to look for my size. Then he showed me a place to sit in the back. He let me take my annoying time considering my potential purchase. He was gracious about it.

I have been a loyal Ricky’s shopper for 18 years and shop at several locations .
Over the summer the Ricky’s on West 23^rd has gone from amazing to down right bad.
The store always seems to be out of something and the staff is far more interested in socializing with each other and having fun then assisting costumers. Some items have been out of stocks for weeks and when you ask the sales assistant answer is always the same“I don’t know”. poor management has replaced a friendly knowledgeable staff.

This Rickys is a few blocks away from my school, so it is definitely easy to access when I want to pick up a few things after or before class.
The pricing for most things are reasonable, and Rickys has a wider selection of hair products than closer areas such as CVS, Rite Aid, Kmart, etc.
I do like the fact that they stay open late (10 PM Mon.-Sat, I believe). Definitely useful for when I was dorming last year and needed to pick up a few things at 9:45 PM.
The salespeople are friendly and have given me advice on numerous occasions. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. :)

Ricky’s NYC’s are so conveniently spread throughout the city, but scarce in other states. I wish they would open up some more in other states because I love these stores — nail polish, hair care products, incense, lotions, etc. You’ll find sectioned-​off areas for the 18+. Employees are generally very quirky and friendly.
This particular store location has an amazing employee by the name of Sierra who was extremely helpful when I was confused about a new product and unsure of which one to choose. Prices are more expensive than what you would find online, but not extremely marked up. Definitely a go-​to costume store once Octobers roll around.

These drugstores are scattered all over the city. While they carry lots of the regular stuff like Walgreens or Rite-​Aid, they also offer lots of unique accessories and costumes too. They have tons of makeup, hair accessories, funny sunglasses, magnets, shopping bags & little gifts. Halloween masks, feather boas, beads and lots more. The staff was super helpful, offering tips on makeup and nail polish application. Items are priced relatively inexpensive. Definitely worth a stop into if you pass by one.

Ricky’s! You are so fun and devil-​may-​care. You’re like the fabulous gay brother I never had. I love coming to see you on my lunch break and looking at your rainbow of nail polishes and eye shadows to cheer myself up. As a bit of a nail polish freak I appreciate that you always stock the latest OPI collections here, and you usually have them before any other stores put them out. Service is great — I’ve found that your employees are always nice and good about answering my questions. You also have a beauty club that lets me get little occasional goodies, as well as 10% off coupons for
. Don’t stop workin’ it!

They always have the hair products that I like, and they always play the really cool disco music, so I’m a fan :-)
