GREAT SHOPPING EXPERIENCE! I really didn’t know what I wanted and the staff was so helpful and knowledgeable. I walked out of the store with exactly what I wanted and a big smile. Thank you Ricky’s!!!

the staff knows NOTHING— completely clueless and they will leave you wandering the store looking for items.
they are pretty nonchalant with the customer service
they don’t want to make eye contact so you won’t ask them a question.
the store is junky and i really wonder why no one from the home office has brought them up to standards !!!

Very organized and tons of products, but don’t ask for help… Either they won’t come over to you or they have no clue how to help you.
Went to the counter to purchase hair product (counter was cluttered and boxes in front of the counter) the sales associate seemed bothered that I needed to buy something and continued to have a full conversation with his coworker. Payed by cc and when he was done just threw my card on the counter… Not even a word, except if I wanted a bag.
Won’t be going back to that store.
If you don’t wanna work with people don’t get a job in retail.

Place had ur basic and not so basic items u need! I ventured to the cosmetics section and they had a huge variety of NYX products but it seems like they sold so fast that they don’t have enough in stock which sucked! PLEASE HAVE BACK UP ITEMS! I really wanted my lipsticks that I chose from the tester area:/ ! I do like coming here because its close to my family’s casa but I would appreciate if you follow the above advise! See u later after u guys get my favorite products in!

I love this place. It had everything I was looking for and things that I didn’t even know I wanted. I stop here for something everytime I’m in NYC

Definitely not the best of what they have to offer.
This store is small and while they have the basics, they don’t have everything. If you’re looking for the fun Ricky’s, don’t come to this one. If you know what kind of products you want, then this will work, but if you’re looking to browse, go find another store.

This location had what I was looking for (more on this in a 2^nd) and the woman who rung me up was nice.
Moroccan Hair Oil and related products-​is there like cocaine in here or something because it is never eligible for sales (anywhere) and at the Park Slope Ricky’s location some duded jacked like ALL of the Moroccan oil products so now they keep them behind the counter. I bought the hair mask and am looking forward to seeing its power after I use it. (just got a single process so I typically wait as long as I can before washing it first time-don’t give me that look you are not supposed to wash your hair that much)

I wish I could say this place was a lot better but compared to the other ones in the city there isn’t as much. The one in Soho prob is the best one ive been to since lots more beauty products, costumes, and just a lot larger. This one during halloween you need to walk across 9^th go down the street to the other costume area. If that is the case you might aswell go to 49^th and 7^th to get the costume store they temp (i think) put up which is two floors tall. There just is a lack of stuff there but I go since its the closest. There is no salon and its one floor high. THey also don’t always have the sizes you need.

I recently purchased my Halloween costume here and I guess I am somewhat satisfied. Although the staff was reasonably helpful I do find it very irritating that you can not try anything on. Holding the costume against me was not sufficient. My costume is too small but I can wear it… luckily. I think if your not going to allow people to try on a costume then you should allow them to make a return. Although the prices here are better than the costumes at Mascarade they are still not cheap! Next year I will be purchasing my costume online for a better price and return policy. As far as Ricky’s goes as a general store, they have a great selection of beauty products! I love OPI nail polish and they have a great selection. If I was rating them just on their costumes they would only get 2 stars but because I shop here for other things they are getting 4.

I’ve always been treated well by the staff at this location. The place is always clean. They never get on me for being a crazy tushie, trying on/​out things and being a super excited theater geek as I prance around the store.
And, come on! They have an awesome product called Chocolate Lust. How can you lose??? :-)

This place is quite pleasant if you go before the Halloween Rush. I was able to browse a fully stocked Costume department and workers were available to answer my questions and direct me on where to go. If you go the week of Halloween, be prepared for a mad house.

Ricky’s was essentially my neighborhood go-​to costume shop. I would come here for Halloween, costume themed events, naughty magnets, party favors, funny greeting cards, and lewd souvenirs that would make the average I Love NY shop blush. It took me almost 3 years to realize this was not a unique shop on the west side, just one of many all across Manhattan. That’s right, it’s a chain. And no, I don’t care.
Prices are moderate, with most items somewhere between the $ 8 – 25 range. It comes down to choosing outfits, wigs, or anything that might be deemed as resusable. There is no doubt that some of this stuff feels cheap, but no more generic than one’s average Halloween wholesale store. In regards to deals, I’ve managed to find some very quality hair products here, especially those of StraightSexyHair brand.
Customer service is always generally helpful. The store is not easy to navigate without some assistance at times and I wouldn’t even say this is the best Ricky’s NYC store in the franchise. Try calling ahead of time to see if certain inventory is in stock or just come around to window shop because some of the things here are generally pretty interesting.
