I go here for hair care. Of course they sell the same good things as any other Ricky’s but not all Ricky’s have salons. This one does. 7 days a week. Jason(and Carly) are great. l I’ve had many, many blow outs – less expensive than DryBar. I’ve also had complicated color competently done – that is base to cover my gray and highlights and in record time. Plus they get me lunch while I’m there, and have great current magazines. Handy Sunday hours. and evenings.

I recently moved up from D.C. and happen to walk into the Murray Hill location. Decided spur of the moment to have my hair cut and colored by Carly. Wonderful! She listens and takes her time. I have fine wavy hair that can be tricky. Carly is terrific. Could not recommend her more highly!

I made an appointment for 5:30. Showed up on time and the hair stylist made me wait 30 minutes without any explanation. Then when I showed him the looks I wanted he said it wasn’t suitable for me. So then I asked him what he thinks would look good on me to which he said I need to come back with looks in mind and that he doesn’t feel comfortable working my hair. Isn’t that what I just did? I came in with looks in mind which he shot down. This salon is a waste of time and the hair stylist needs to get over himself.

Never shop here! Shawni and Zoreen are horrendous. They refuse to honor promotions solicited online(specifically ). Should be reported to the BBB. Disgusted with their behavior. Will never return! This would never happen at Sephora.

Came here for a friend’s launch of a Shampoo Line– Briogeo! It was a great place to host this event. Large space with plenty of beauty products.

Stopped by this new location today to pick up Shimmer Lites(the purple shampoo that gets the yellow out of blonde highlights) because they’re the only place where I can ever find it. For the first time I saw that the brand also makes conditioner(yay!). This new location(just down the block from the previous one) is huge so it carries more products than most Ricky’s and they’re in the process of finishing the basement so it will be Halloween HQ year-round. The staff is SUPERNICE here. From Erin in the Revolver Salon, who said that they can do my hair and makeup all ‘40s style for my swing dancing outings, to Edgar, the store manager who was very happy to help me(some managers don’t want to be bothered). Everyone was helpful, they had all the products I was looking for, and their prices are good. I’m definitely buying my hair and makeup there from now on, plus there’s a lot of fun jokester items, too(bonus).

No Boom Boom for me Came to get my brows done after work. Walked 20 min it was a perfect evening and i was happy to not have 2 get on the 6. this is a great location and I love Ricky’s double win The Boom Boom bar was empty and dark. I asked the sales associate about it and she said she wasn’t sure if they were open yet. I asked if there was a schedule and she said no. Another associate confirmed they’ve been there once or twice but never showed up again. I asked her if there was a schedule and she told me daily until 7pm but she hasn’t seen them recently and wasn’t clear if they’d be back. She got her manager who confirmed they’ve been there but its been slower than other Ricky’s. My friend called the flagship boom boom from the street one girl wasn’t aware of the partnership w/Ricky’s(really) She handed the phone to someone else who knew about it said we were at the right location and yes someone should be there from Boom Boom. Really frustrating. How come none of the employees at either company know enough about this? Why wasn’t anyone there; service can’t pickup if its«closed». I love Ricky’s and Boom Boom but whoever is managing this relationship could do an better job.

They sell OPI and Essie polishes for less than that of CVS and Duane Reade. The selection is well-organized and current season’s shades are displayed by the registers. And has anyone else noticed that all of their employees are very hip and tatt’ed?

Extremely poor service. The staff is soooo uninterested in their jobs at this specific location. I live a block away so I come here all the time, and every single time I get frustrated by the staff’s unprofessionalism. One guy working there didn’t even know what a hair toner was! Come on! Awful customer service, and if you have some serious beauty questions, most of the time nobody knows what you’re talking about. Comparing to the SoHo location, their knowledge is non existent.

Ricky’s is a great NYC go-to for hair and make-up goods. oh and of course they are a great spot for Halloween costumes, bachelorette party goods, and other random gifts. The prices are the going rate and I’m happy to support a local-NYC business.

I came in here to get a cheap and easy Halloween costume and was definitely satisfied. For $ 30 I got a witch’s hat, broom and cape. Staff was very helpful and the stock was organized. No complaints!

I like their selection of hair products and accessories. but i am still confused about what Ricky’s is supposed to be. isn’t it a chain of Halloween stores?

One of the more fun chain stores in NYC, and always worth stopping in to browse around. These multiple Ricky’s locations offer a fun and eclectic display of merchandise, and quite a diverse beauty supply and hair care selection. This store hidden away in Murray Hill is no different. Situated over two floors it is stock full of everything. From hair care, to beauty supplies, to handbags, to shoes/flip flops, to rain gear, to funny magnets and pins, to raunchy gifts, to feather boas and wigs, it’s always a party in here. Also, as with all the other locations, this Ricky’s goes all out for Halloween with the store being converted into a costume emporium. Looking for that slutty nurse outfit, or that superfly pimp getup? Ricky’s usually has it on hand! Also, I have to mention that the all-important Sex Room is downstairs behind the beaded chain curtain. What, you didn’t think I did not pay a pilgrimage to this room? Of course I did! They carry quite a selection for your sex party needs. From items for couples looking to spice up their bedroom play, to bachelorette party gear, to sensual lubes and oils, to funny novelties, to racy outfits, this hidden little gem of a room is sure to please. Excuse me, as I need to take a cold shower now.

Ricky’s is such a fun store! I love how you can great hair care products, accessories, fun cosmetics, candles, Halloween costumes and the sexy items behind the beaded curtains all in one place. This is my favorite location since the salespeople are friendly and helpful without being overbearing, plus it’s a nice, big, two-story shop.
