I booked a color appointment with Liz Russell today. I had had an awful experience at a salon I went to off of Groupon. However, the worst decision I’ve made with my hair turned out to be the best because I found a colorist for life. Every moment of the experience was amazing. From the front desk staff, to the assistants Liz & Sasha and to the most talented colorist I have ever been to.
This salon works as a team… As an actor and fitness model my looks are my business and because I had such an awful color job I needed it fixed immediately. Liz took care with such respect and integrity for my hair with her expertise and keen eye for artistic detail.
I highly recommend the salon and most importantly Liz Russell for your top choice of colorist and stylist.

had the colorist Cara, and she is amazing!!! She has a clear vision, gets to know who you are and advises based on her expertise. She’s spunky, little edgy and you’ll walk out feeling chic and hip and well taken care of. not too mention the excellent view of NY from her chair on the 2^nd floor.

$ 5 «salon charge» is pretty strange. Just saying…

I have been getting my haircut at Riccardo’s for as long as I can remember. My Grandmother, Mother and I are three generations of true advocates of this salon — they are the BEST. I have lived across the country now and will wait to come back home to NYC for my haircut to see Riccardo, the price is well worth the quality you are receiving. What I appreciate the most is that it is a haircut that will LAST. If you are looking for an excellent cut that will still look good months later, you should absolutely consider trying them out. The people are friendly and attentive, they use only top hair care products, and every hair dresser there that I have been to has done a superb job. I love my hair and only trust Riccardo with it.

I have been following Rita Mastrorilli and Muriel Maneyrol around NYC for several years now — it would never occur to me to not have my hair cut and colored by them as they are simply the best colorist and stylist/​cutter in the city. There is no one to compare with them. Their style and talent is consistent every time I go and compliments abound when I leave. Call the Riccardo Maggiore salon and make an appointment with them now — you’ll be so pleased that you did.

until I found this place on a recommendation, a traditional barber shop was where I got my hair cut. I went a few times just to make sure it was the right place because I need a go to place for a great haircut and I don’t want to think about where to go anymore. This is my spot now. While its luxury the prices are very reasonable. They also dot he eyebrow and facial thing so If you are New Yorker and try this place once, you really won’t have reason to go anywhere else.

I have been using Akemi, a colorist, for the past 7 years. I have followed her from salon to salon and she has finally settled at RM. My natural hair color is brown, but Akemi is amazing and is able to take my hair down to the most perfect shade of blonde. I have not been able to find a colorist as talented as she is in all of my years of coloring my hair. She has a great eye and good taste. She is so wonderful that I travel all the way from Staten Island to continue to have her color my hair.
For blowouts, I use Lina. Her blowouts last nearly a week. She is just an assistant in the salon, but she is amazingly talented and has a ton of potential. I look forward to her haircuts when she is promoted to a stylist position.
The salon itself is beautiful, clean, organized and friendly. I also love that they serve you a choice of beverage when you arrive. I refer whoever I can.

I think some reviewers’ expectations about the prices are naïve and inane. What do you expect from a highly respected salon on Manhattan’s Upper East Side? Indeed the prices at RM are lower than many of their «competitors.» You get what you pay for. I’m a Queens teacher, not a wealthy Manhattanite, but I would pay anything to be so consistently happy with my hair. I had horrible frizzy gray hair until Riccardo started straightening, Akimi coloring it, and Ernie cutting it.

One of the worst haircuts I have ever received for $ 135? Spoke to stylist at great length about what I wanted. Ended up with a terrible haircut. Insane prices. Not a high-​end salon experience. Amazing to have to wear a hat after paying these prices. No justification for the impersonal service. A decent salon offers a beverage, greets a client warmly and has stylists who are exceptionally skilled at cutting hair. Not here. Just incredibly bad, disappointing and awful in every way.

I have been a client for over 10 years and am continually pleased with their services. Marina makes hair washing an art and i almost fall asleep from relaxation every time i’m there when she washes my hair and Tom Dellacorte, is a magician with the scissors. I have more cowlicks (about 8) then anyone i’ve ever met and he manages to make my hair look great every time… plus he is a wonderful person. I came here originally because my wife and her twin have long red hair that they won’t let anyone touch or cut except Tom… that said a lot to me and they were right. he’s the best!

Elena is an amazing esthetician! Please support her, but note that my last time in the salon, I was BERATED for trying to use a coupon. The owner and manager ganged up on me and yelled at me in the waiting area. I could imagine them having a reaction like this if I put up a fight, but I didn’t. I calmly informed them that when I called to make the appointment I notified the receptionist that I would be using the coupon and there seemed to be no problems, and perhaps they should train their staff better, and I was happy to still pay for my service since Elena was great. I am sure this fancy salon does not need my business, a young bride-​to-​be looking for great services in preparation for my wedding, but treat people with dignity and respect please. Their rudeness and disgusting behavior was the WORST I have seen in any high end salon in NYC.

Ian has been my wife’s stylist for several years now, and I have been getting haircuts from him as well. He’s a very devoted stylist and his techniques are impeccable. I’m not huge on putting up reviews, but both my wife and I think Ian deserves a great one.
Ian mostly focuses on women’s hair, but he also does men’s hair. His clients range from stay-​home moms to lawyers, finance professionals and even diplomats.

I got the best manicure and pedicure, ever, from Nicole today. She was such a sweetheart and I will always go to her from now on. I thought the Koreans knew how to do nails but this Serbian knows her stuff. I walked away admiring my nails– I’m a guy who usually doesn’t notice these kinds of things but I definitely did today. My pedicure made my feet look good. I looked at my feet and was like «Whoa, hell yeah, my feet look great.» Again, something I usually don’t notice but it was kinda hard not to. She was fantastic and I will definitely see her again. You will not regret this trip. Go!

I searched day and night for healthier keratin treatment options besides the Coppola and La Brasiliana keratin treatments and found the Lasio treatment which I decided was right for my hair (fine and curly). I’ve read many reviews on
and countless websites about hair falling out so I’m very afraid of that happening. I made an appt with Lasio studios but when I found out I had to sign a waiver giving up my rights should anything happen — I cancelled the appt. I also walked into AKS salon but I didn’t feel comfortable with Kim ($ 250 for the 8 week Lasio? forget it!) John Barrett charged north of $ 500 for the same treatment and were a bit snooty so I walked back to this salon.
I walked in at 6pm — had a short convo with Jonathan and we choose the formeldahyde free Lasio Tropic formula for me. I had my hair washed and was given a cappucino then the had Jonathan dry my hair before applying the keratin on strand by strand. He was very detailed and thorough as well as cordial and personable. My hair was then dryed with a paddle brush and straight ironed before I left the salon at 9PM (they close at 7 and Jonathan stayed late).
Its been less than 24 hours so I can’t speak to the results of the Keratin treatment yet. The salon was beautiful, the service was good and Jonathan is a true professional. $ 300 for the treatment plus tax and tip. I’ll definitely be back for a haircut, color, etc.

Riccardo is awesome and the rest of the staff is great as well! hair, makeup, nails. fantastic! super quick too. My hair never looked better. Manicure lasted forever also!

Jonathan started me off with a conditioning treatment — amazing! I then saw Sumio. I told him that he was the expert and to go ahead and do what he did best. :) (He did ask me a few questions about lifestyle and how short I was willing to go.) Fabulous haircut! Will go back.
