What the shit. This place deserves to have all of Urbanspace and a huge bar with hard liquor. Eric & Kenny are phenomenal bartenders and even the«kitchen staff» is pretty cool too. First time I came here, one of the bartenders was picking up a number of a blonde then telling me about it my second time, then talking trade with the other bartender the third time I was here while being given honest-to-god walk-through of the menu. And its been great every time.

Red Hook Lobster Pound is famous for their lobster rolls, so I was definitely excited to see one open up in UrbanSpace. They serve up their rolls four ways and I feel like you can’t really go wrong with any of them. This location also has beer and wine, seats for about six, and encourages loitering with a drink in hand. The lobster rolls are delicious and packed with large full chunks of lobster goodness. That said, the split buns are small, at about six or seven inches. For $ 17 each, they will likely have hungry customers complain about the lack of calories. This is definitely a quality over quantity place. Is it worth it? Only if you really really want lobster and don’t like sharing. This location also offer soups, salads, and mac and cheese, all of which are cheaper than the famous lobster rolls because they have less lobster. I didn’t try any. Maybe next time I want to treat myself.

So I’m pretty torn with how to rate this place. I’ve been craving a lobster roll for awhile now. I haven’t had one since last February when I was on Boston and every time I go to Urban Space on Vanderbilt I want to get one but I always end up having something else more. Well today I fought off the cravings for all the other delicious options and decided to go for the lobster roll. So this place isn’t cheap… $ 17 for a lobster roll that you can get several different ways. But I’m a fan of the normal lobster roll which is apparently«Maine style» here. So here’s my dilemma… The lobster roll was delicious but it was tiny. Like, tiny tiny. Don’t get me wrong it, the roll was packed full of lobster but the roll was small. So while you look at the pics of the sandwiches on Unilocal and you’re like«Daaaaaamn… Look at that bad boy of a lobster roll overflowing! Totally worth $ 17!»(Well that was my reaction at least) it’ll disappoint you. Honestly, it should be $ 5 less… Or if they would just take the $ 4 add-on of chips/pickle/and coleslaw and roll it into the $ 17 I’d be happy. But as it stands, it’s a ripoff. Personally, if I hit this place up again I’d go for one of their $ 14 soup+sandwich combos that sound amazing and are a way better deal than the lobster roll. 4 stars for taste, but I gotta take 1 star away for the price… Sorry.

Lapin and I passed by UrbanSpace on our way to see Matilda and since we never been, we decided to putter in. We have eaten Red Hook’s lobster rolls before but it’s mostly at shared spaces like UrbanSpace or those little vendor stands they sometimes have near Madison Square Park or 34th Street area. The lines for the Red Hook wasn’t long but it was a bit unorganized. They took your order apparently on one side which you then pay and you receive a ticket when it’s your order is ready. However, I rarely saw anyone utilizing the ordering and pick up arrangement. Most people went up placed an order at the takeout counter and sat down or linger waiting to be called. The food came out after 15 minutes of waiting but they made a mistake. They gave us someone else’s food and someone had our food. The lobster roll done CT style($ 17) and it was okay. It wasn’t particularly noteworthy and looked a bit smaller portion wise for the price.

We ordered several lobster rolls for a team meeting. We ordered a bunch of different rolls(Maine, CT, Tuscan) Was disappointed as the lobster had no flavor. They also forgot a roll we ordered and our drinks causing us to go back. Wasn’t anything good and nothing to rave about.
