Heard a lot about this place, and was really disappointed by the food. The Seitan and Broccoli smelled kind of like rotten garbage, the chkn parm was greasy, and the«wings» made me never want to eat wings again(good thing, in hindsight) Had to wait long to sit down, but the staff was really nice and friendly, and that was the only real positive. I’m a positive person and don’t like writing bad reviews, but this place’s food is not very good :/

So let’s be real, buffalo chicken wings were on point. The food was absolutely delicious and they have a wonderful wine and beer menu. It’s a nice cozy place and was a great place to catch up with friends and have a conversation. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The only reason I take two stars away is that it seemed like almost every entrée, including dessert was Soy based. I’m «vegan» but I eat more plant based foods and try not to eat too much soy. It’s a wonderful place to treat yoself to some delicious eats but I wish there was other options that wasn’t just soy. Another star because although our server was decent, she wasn’t very attentive and there were many times where we weren’t done ordering or asking her a question– but she just left. It wasn’t a busy night, so I wonder what her deal was. I would definitely come back here again just for the wings itself! yum.

Dined here last night with my friend and the was so good! I had the almond coconut chicken app with a side of the pineapple seafood fried rice – thumbs way up! My friend had the sweet & sour chicken. It was amazing and I’ve already decided that that’s what I’m ordering the next time I dine here. I also had the pistachio vegan ice cream. I was impressed and it doesn’t come anywhere close to the tofu ice cream I get at Veggie Heaven. My friend, however, raved about here apple cinnamon cheese. It looked really good and I’m definitely getting that too that next time I dine here. Great experience all around. :)

Vegan soul food? Yeah, I’ll take one of everything fried, please. Red Bamboo is an unassuming spot in the Village that you should bring all your vegetarian friends too. I have a lot of vegetarian friends so finding a place in NYC where you can eat all your dishes family style can be a struggle. Red Bamboo is the solution. The types of food served here vary. Vegan/vegetarian is the only common thread between a fried«chicken» slathered in creole sauce and a black pepper«steak» with rice and green beans. The vibes and service are casual. Don’t come here with trendy expectations. It’s a chill spot that serves huge portions — living up to its soul food label. I recommend getting the roti as an appetizer. It is warm and fluffy and gets you prepared for the fried deliciousness headed your way. My biggest tip is to make sure that you get something fried. I know it’s not the healthiest thing but it genuinely is hearty vegan food. The soul fried«chicken» is better than the real friend chicken of most places. If it’s not fried, it’s average. It’s a try-once for a carnivore. Come back for your fried-fixed for herbivores.

While searching for a vegetarian place in Manhattan, Red Bamboo comes up as highly recommended. It appears that many people enjoyed their experience here. Based on the reviews, we opted to come here. It surpassed all my expectations! First off, Red Bamboo serves vegan, vegetarian food. The menu offers Cajun, and Asian styled foods, burgers, salads, and some dishes come with Seitan meat. They offer vegan wine! The food tastes absolutely divine. I ordered the Pineapple Seafood Fried Rice. It tastes like heaven! The Strawberry Shortcake got everyone’s attention! It looks like a piece of artwork. Red Bamboo offers good portions for the price. The food looks like it has been prepared for a culinary magazine. The restaurant itself looks small and cozy. But that lends to its warm, and intimate atmosphere. I find the servers attentive and friendly. They are quick to answer questions and flash warm smiles. While in New York City add Red Bamboo as a culinary experience. It will be a good place to take a date to or get together with some friends. You will not be disappointed.

Definitely one of my favorite spots in the city. I have introduced many carnivores to Red Bamboo and they all love it! The buffalo BBQ sauce for their«wings» is to die for. They also have vegan shakes/Bostons that go great with your meal. If anything, come here for appetizers and order a lot of them to share!

My FAVORITE spot in the city. Being vegan it can be hard to find spots you just love everything about but Red Bamboo takes the cake. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is great. It’s a very small restaurant but you’re not crammed too tightly to the table next to you. It’s intimate and dark, with a great selection of organic beers and wines. My favorites are the BBQ wings, Nuggets, and the vegan chicken Parmesan(THEBEST) I always look forward to coming back here.

I simply love this restaurant. As a health conscious eater, I’m always looking for new vegetarian joints. Red Bamboo has everything from curry to fried chicken here. For my friends who love meat, they found the texture of the Seitan(wheat meat) to be quite authentic and the cooking to meet their standards when it comes to grilled meats. The food here is made with love and it shows! The most amazing thing is that the prices are fairly cheap compared to other trendy vegan restaurants in the city. Vegetarian or not, you’ll love it here. Red Bamboo is a great place if you’re in the mood to eat healthy. For the prices you pay, the portions are actually pretty big, so you get more than you bargain for! Red Bamboo offers more Cajun style dishes(with some Asian options). I like the Creole Soul Chicken from here the best. It’s made from soy, but it tastes almost like real chicken. The Mango Chicken is also very delicious. Enjoy!

Oh boy do I love this place. It really is one of my favorite comfort food places in NYC. I’m a vegetarian so as Unilocal would say — «I go nuts for this place.» There is something about their Seitan that is different from everywhere else. Its so dense and chewy and filling — and they never hesitate to throw it in a deep fryer and cover it with vegan cheese. Red Bamboo is not culinary expertise by any means — its fun, delicious, heavy food that makes even the most hard core meat eater question their reality. My usual starter go-to items are the BBQ Wings, The Bamboo Nuggets and the Vegetable Tempura. The BBQ wings are so saucy and dense they could serve as a meal on their own — so definitely share. I’m pretty obsessed with the Chicken Parmesan — it’s one of the best meat subsitutes I’ve ever tasted and its covered in vegan cheese and tomato sauce… it really doesn’t get any better than that. Last night we also got the Sweet & Sour Chicken, which was on the softer size but still dense, sweet and filling. I got the Coconut Chicken which was great — I recommend asking for the Sriracha Mayo on the side. What I really love about this place is how generous they are with entrée portions that are just protein packed and only around $ 12. Its a great comfort food refuge for us vegetarians and a chance to go out to a restaurant and pretend we’re tearing through a chicken cutlet(without the guilt and sadness).

Love Red Bamboo with all my heart and soul. This is the best vegan spot in NYC hands down. The entrees and appetizers taste just like meats and seafood. Every time I visit NY, I make sure to stop here. If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. Great service, great food.

Absolutely a delicious surprise. Friendly staff, great service but best of all, great vegan food. Most notable was the ice cream. We had pistachio and a scoop of butter pecan. Mind blown.

who knew I could be a part time Vegan?! I found this place on Unilocal!(thank you everyone for all of your helpful reviews!) and it was really good. I was a little hesitant to go because I love chicken and pork on my fork, but I had the teriyaki vegetables with white rice and it was really good and filling. I also tried to chocolate cake and it tasted«real» lol i Know that sounds bad to say but it was vegan. No I don’t know what it was made from, and I don’t wanna know, but it was really tasty.
