Held a birthday dinner on Saturday around 4:30. The staff was accommodating, BYOB and no corkage fee. Appetizers came out in about 20 min, entrees we ordered when we were ready and that took about 25 min. Food :Very good portions 4⁄5 Service: great 5⁄5 I’m super pleased! I can’t wait to go back!

Came here for lunch on a Sunday around 3 pm with a group of 6. There was a lunch special menu which is definitely my jam. I think it was around $ 10 for a small appetizer and meal. I got the fried spring rolls and veggie drunken noodle. The spring rolls were good, not best thing ever, but still yum. The drunken noodles were really great. It was a perfect portion size and quite delicious. Lots of flavor, pretty spicy without asking for heat level, and loaded with scrum veggies. I also got a green papaya salad to start with, which I enjoyed. I haven’t had one since I visited Thailand 2 years ago and though it wasn’t best thing ever, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Our server was great– very nice and accommodating. My pals around me all enjoyed their meals too. Ranging from curry, to pad thai, fried rice, and soup. Everyone was a happy camper and our meals were inexpensive and yummie!

I’ve been coming here for lunch for a while and today this place really disappointed me! I ordered the eggplant basil dish and asked for brown rice substitution(or so I thought). They charged me $ 2 extra for the brown rice, and only gave me half pint of it! I’m not being cheap. It’s about the value! To make it worse, when I finally opened the bag at work, I realized they gave me the regular thing(entrée and half pint of white rice) AND the $ 2 dollar brown rice. Now, how does that make sense?! Lesson of the day: I’m only gonna order the noodle dishes with them and not deal with the rice.

I’m here again today. I have been coming here since they opened! The food is always fresh and the staff is always so friendly. This really is a Thai gem considering the only other option for Thai in the neighborhood is Trung Thai.

Ventured to this seemly out of place thai spot with my sister on a Friday night. The entire experience was pretty«meh»: okay food, bad service. We entered a nearly empty restaurant and waited 4+ minutes before being seated. There were deliveries going out every couple minutes so maybe this spot has better delivery service than in-house service? We eventually were seated and our order was taken. We ordered the vegetable dumplings and summer rolls as appetizers. It took a 7+ minutes for them to come out but they were yummy! For our meals I ordered the Pad See Ew with beef. It was pretty good but the portion seemed pretty small for $ 13. My sister got the Massaman Curry. The carrots were obviously frozen, everything else seemed fresh. Overall she liked it. We both agreed we would probably not revisit the location given the mediocre experience and the fact that we live 2 trains away but if you live nearby it may be worth while ordering take-out.

I’m feeling 3 stars plus tonight after my meal here. Here’s why… The dining room for this place felt like an afterthought. Like my first visit, the food was delicious –solid –authentic and flavorful. The service kind of beyond sucked. It took a really really really long time for our appetizer to appear. It was fried calamari. Not rocket science. There were 3 other occupied tables in the room. I soon figured out why we were basically ignored. The delivery guys were coming and going with what seemed like enough bags to feed half of the heights. When the calamari finally arrived(I swear it felt like 30 minutes but was probably 20) it was a whore’s breath away from burnt. We were so hungry we wolfed it down anyway and of course our entrees came out about a minute later. Honey, this is no way to run a rodeo. Or a restaurant. If you’ve ever had a meal with that annoying friend who is distracted and texting and then suddenly looks up and wants to engage you, then you know this feeling. A little too little and a lot too late. Now the food was delicious– veggie basil duck and pad Thai with shrimp — and I really like the décor(lose the big stupid TV please) — and we are still totally starved for decent Thai uptown so I’m going with 3 stars. I want you to succeed. But please misses please, this is my second visit and you’ve got to begin recognizing the people in the room and not basically ignoring them to keep your Seamless ratings up. It won’t work forever. Sooner or later another Thai restaurant will grace us uptown pioneers with good food AND good service and you’ll be toast. Like those calamari. The dining room should’ve been packed tonight but I suspect people get tired of feeling like they are invisible when they come into your cute little house of delights. This is soooo easy to fix. This restaurant needs a kitchen and dining manager who understands the words«customer service.» Please fix it. We want you to make it. We want to return. We just don’t want to be ignored.

Don’t eat here. I ordered a lunch special basil udon. It was yummy and delivered on time. HOWEVER, at my third bite, I felt something metallic in my mouth. Spat it out, and noticed a wire twined with the cabbage in the noodles. Cannot even begin to express how disgusted I am. I have attached a picture in case the restaurant tries to deny it!

Not impressed with this basic Thai. I decided to grab lunch at Rain II based on the number of positive reviews because I was doing field work this morning in Washington Heights. Starved after last night’s disaster at Bunz Harlem, I walked the two blocks from the clinic I’m working in, over to Rain II. I ordered at the bar(which didn’t appear to have alcohol, just water glasses) and waited approximately 15 minutes for a Shrimp Clay Pot and Shrimp/Chicken shumai to go. Shumai were so… meh. Incredibly bland, the dipping sauce added no additional flavor, and there were only four pieces in this $ 6 order. Clay pot filled with glass noodles and four jumbo shrimp. The shrimp were just boiled, zero seasoning and the glass noodles were mixed with fresh ginger-a nice touch, but there was little else to win me over here. The ambience was really nice inside, but I certainly wouldn’t return after spending a total of $ 23.95 and throwing most of it in the trash. I lie – I fed my work wife.

Quick delivery, cheap prices. All things considered, I think this is the best Thai in the lower Heights. Tung Thong has been trumped. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu. The basil udon noodles is my favorite. As well as the crispy fish with spicy sauce, clay shrimp pot, chicken satay, gyuza, gra prow kai dow(ground chicken with veggie stir fry and fried egg on top), calamari, all the curries, and the peanut sauce with anything. The staff is friendly and I really enjoy eating in. It’s beautiful and relaxing inside. I like the fact that it’s not crowded and you get top notch, personalized service. They never disappoint, except their food can be a bit too spicy to some, but I have high tolerance. I hope Rain II is here to stay! PS — BYOB(no fee)

Amazing. Live in Washington Heights and have dined at and ordered from this place multiple times. The Basil Udon is amazing. Pad Thai isn’t the best. Drunken Noodles are better from Tung Thong. Basil Eggplant isn’t the best either. I’d say Basil Udon is the best dish on the menu. Lunch special is great.

The flavors are subdued, the portions small, the cost high and the service slow. I ordered 2 entrees and it took 30 minutes. Also, they ran out of potato at 9pm on a Friday.

A couple of nights ago I stopped in for dinner with two other guests and we were not disappointed! We arrived around the beginning of their dinner rush when it was pretty empty and were seated right away as you would expect. The interior was nice and had a relaxed, chill vibe. Everything looked clean and organized. I noticed their delivery orders were flying out the door! My fiancée and I have ordered from them in the past and it is quite good, so I wasn’t surprised to see six orders go out before our entrees even showed up. Our server was hustling, and it looks like he was serving, staging food orders, and helping the kitchen. Nice job! Nice touch on the Rain t-shirt, always good to see staff rocking the brand. For appetizers we had tamarind wings and calamari. The wings were delicious, crispy, and the sauce was tasty and spicy. Calamari was on point, cooked perfectly and tasted fresh. I had the roasted duck and it was crispy and delicious. The sauce was excellent and goes nicely with some rice. My lady had a shrimp dish with flat noodles; I QCd a few bites and it was flavorful with a nice texture on the noodles. I tried a side of sticky rice and it was STICKY! One interesting tidbit: I was a little sad when I looked through the menu and didn’t see booze(though I don’t hold it against a place for not serving alcohol). However, I found out after the fact that it is BYOB! BYOB is something I gotta do more of and I will definitely return and BMOB. :D We will be coming back and will be continuing to order delivery as well, keep up the great work.

I’ve ordered delivery from here a about 5x now and it has consistently tasted good. The delivery is fast and prices reasonable and some dishes even less expensive than other thai restaurants in the neighborhood. Delivery min is $ 10 which is fair. I recommend cashew nut chicken, chicken pad thai, Massaman curry, shrimp and chicken dumplings. Looking forward to actually dining in one day.

So good. Hidden gem in WaHi. Food is always good, and not too spicy. It’s BYOB, which is fine because they don’t charge you a corking fee. Beautiful inside, with lovely chandeliers and a nice fountain. Great place for a date. For delivery, it’s also great. My food usually arrives way faster than the Seamless estimate, and it is always hot upon arrival. It’s slightly more expensive than your typical hole-in the wall Thai place, but worth it.

I love Rain II. My favorite dish is the basil udon — I’m obsessed with the doughier udon noodles. Delivery: Super good option for the neighborhood. It’s speedy and reliable and they’ve always packaged the food properly. Restaurant: Food is great, but the setting leaves something to be desired. Service is pretty slow. We walked in and nobody greeted us or was even around. I had to walk behind the bar and tell the employees that I had arrived. They have BYOB so I’m assuming their liquor license is up in the air. They have this big spacious bar that could be a cool happy hour or something but it just sits empty right now. Hopefully that gets figured out soon. TL;DR delivery is awesome, but you may need to give the restaurant a few tries for a great dining out experience.

This review is based on a delivery placed on a Tuesday early noon at 11am. If Heights folks think this is good Thai, then obviously they’ve never been to Thailand or Queens, or even Hell’s Kitchen. The delivery took over 1hr+. The spring roll was already soggy and drenched from being in a container full of spicy duck sauce.(ew) WHYNOTPUTITONTHESIDE?! I asked for hot sauce, no hot sauce. The side of white rice is so small it’s comical. I ordered Beef noodles but got Tofu in it instead. NO beef. Plus there were about 8 pieces of noodles in there in a lunch container that was half full. The eggs were also badly burnt. The only flavor this dish had was wok char. There’s no salt, no pepper, no spice, no scallions, nothing. Maybe dining in is a different experience but I will not be ordering deliver from them ever again. I rarely write reviews but I’m so pissed off from this fiasco that I had to.

You wouldn’t expect to find this hidden gem amongst the Dominican jungle of Washington Heights. At first glance, from the outside it appears to be a lounge or night spot. Upon entering you are amazed by the glamours décor of wooden panels and glass chandeliers. It’s a cozy and intimate setting. The servers are friendly and served us water and handed us the menu immediately upon entering. We ordered calamari as an appetizer which was deliciously crunchy and came with sweet and spicy gingery sauce(for those who don’t like marinara sauce). For our entrees I ordered Pad Prik King with shrimp. I usually order shrimp pad Thai, but wanted to try something different– I am very glad that I did, because my meal was delicious. The string beans and carrots were crisp and the shrimp was warm and succulent. The sauce was spicy. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp clay pot. His meal came with fresh steamed vegetables, ginger noddles and shrimp. For dessert we ordered coconut fried ice cream with raspberry drizzle. This was my first time visiting the establishment. I will definitely return as the food and service were all excellent. Ps… It’s a BYOB establishment– so feel free to bring your own booze.

Delivery 3.5 stars. Through Grubhub ordering was smooth, food actually arrived in 30 mins as opposed to the estimated 60 mins, and my order was 100% correct and food was warm. Stars deducted because of the drunken noodles. it was more like sober noodles, because the flavor was pretty bland, the spice was barely tasted(as I indicated on the grub hub special instructions«SPICYPLEASE»), and the portions weren’t overwhelming. Easily not my favorite from this place, which is disappointing. But I have to give them props: the pad thai was phenomenal. Seriously, some of the best I ever had, flavored just perfectly and savored so much that I almost ate the fork. Also, the tamarind chicken wings app was perfect: also flavored well, I believe they included either 6 or 8 pieces(I ate them so fast I didn’t stop to count or take any pics). The dumplings were just average – nothing to write home about. Honestly slightly disappointed about their«signature» drunken noodles, but made up for it with that damned good pad thai! Def the best thai food in the area.

I wasn’t expecting to find a nice restaurant like Rain II in the area, but I’m so glad I did! It was my sister’s first time having Thai food, and I think Rain II did a pretty good job of introducing her to the yumminess ^^b The lunch specials are a great deal– appetizer and entrée for less than $ 10. The appetizers are really small, but they make up for it in taste. The Tom Yum Soup appetizer was awesome. Ever so slightly sour, it took a lot of control for me not to slurp it all when my sister went to the restroom. I don’t know what authentic laksa tastes like, but the version here is really, really good. The curry soup itself is creamy and a little sweet with a healthy dose of coconut milk. :) The décor here is dark and intimate, and on a Friday afternoon, there was almost no one there. If you’re in the area and want something else besides Mexican or Latin American food, drop by Rain II for some delicious Thai food at a great price!
