FUCKTHISPLACE. I bought my burger a day card almost a year ago and I was never able to use it due to their weird hours and random closings. I now found out that they have closed their NYC spot and I really doubt I’ll see my money again.

Just read closed for good! Even on the off chance that I arrived and the place wasn’t closed randomly, the burgers were underwhelming minus the cheesesteak burger. I own one of the burger a day cards, and can’t say I’ve gotten anywhere close to the value I paid for it. Shame, this place used to be a great burger spot in Philly, with very creative burgers of the week. Tommy UP stretched too far with this one, and it seems like the whole stack of his bars are falling both in NY and Philly.

Just read it closed for good… OOps. I guess they couldn’t sell enough $ 64 «Basquiat Burgers» . How many of you know who Basquiat was, may he rest in peace

I’m sorry to say that I still have a negative impression of PYT. Despite all of their hype coming with them from Philadelphia, they’ve clearly had trouble keeping their doors open. It seems that their reputation for poor customer service is what has followed them. I’m still constantly greeted by looseleaf paper signs on their door posting unannounced closures, and they’re currently down for renovation constructions just 3 months after opening. They’re non responsive on social media(Instagram) and their website is 4 years outdated. I’ve had a few of their burgers. The Zagat acclaimed«donut burger» is simply a plain burger topped with two pieces of chocolate covered bacon on a meager glazed donut. Uninspired and robbery at about $ 13. I do recommend the cheesesteak pretzel – burger topped with a cheesesteak and a yummy savory sauce, but an aggressive price point($ 16 for food that fits in a Chinese takeout carton). With their erratic hours, I feel bad for their burger-a-day cardholders who are getting shafted(PHI cardholders were met with an unannounced 6 month renovation). With unresponsive social media and overly aggressive price points, I don’t see this place lasting. Take your money to an established fan favorite like Shake Shack and get two burgers for the same price.

Overpriced, small burger size, greasy. Food trucks I’ve had have had better burgers. so I don’t know what the other reviews are talking about. For the same price, you can stop into Fanelli’s — a 100 year old classic NYC pub for a bison burger — or a plethora of other options. Even for quick greasy eats, I would opt for shack shack or lucky’s. My order was just the burger in a chinese take out carton. minimum toppings, nothing special. No accompanying fries. Service was ok. not that attentive. I felt like i was more in a skate shop /arcade. I would like to say I hope they get their shiz together, but I have had a few very frustrating run ins with their company already and trying to get a response on when they would open etc. They just don’t respond, are not attentive, close on random days, change their mind all the time… you can’t have a good product when your staff doesn’t care about doing a good job. This is NYC hun, only the best survive. and that’s a good thing.

I finally used my free burger card for the first time! I think(I was drunk, sue me) I just got the standard PYT Burger. Service was quick and courteous, and the burger was very tasty, albeit greasier than I might have liked if I had been sober. Minus two stars because they only had, and will only EVER have, sweet potato fries, which are absolutely vile.

5 stars for staff and service! These cool cats from Philly are fun friendly and made our night last night! It was my best friends birthday and we ran into these guys as they were closing for the night and they were super helpful in making sure we had the perfect night out in New York. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to try the food this trip… But next time for sure! Thanks for the guidance guys: P

Ordered a Pickleback burger through Über Eats. Maybe it’s not a proper experience, but I can say it was one of the most disappointing(and ugly) burgers I’ve ever had. It was incredibly dry and overcooked. Comparing it to a school cafeteria burger would be a compliment. Maybe it’s Über Eats’ fault. They had a guy delivering it on foot, after all. But I’m pretty sure a thermal bag doesn’t actually cook food more than it needs to be.

I am so frustrated by this place. My boyfriend and I drove to Philly, thinking it would be fun to finally use our year-long burger card. Unfortunately that location was closed. Undeterred, we figured we could just stop by the New York location when we got back in town. We came back on a Sunday around 4pm, drove around for 20 min looking for parking, walked up the street and were greeted by a dark space with locked doors and a big«closed» sign. I’ll update this review if we ever end up stopping by at a time that’s convenient for the owners.

Finally, I think PYT is hitting its stride. My most recent burger was a chocolate bacon donut burger. Newsflash: the burger was cooked medium, and was moist and tasty. The bacon w/chocolate was a nice flavor contrast. And the donut bun was firmer than I thought it would be, and held up well.(I’m new to burger donuts, so sue me!) They finally had fries, but they were sweet potato fries, and only about 6 – 7 sitting in the container below the burger(and doused in chocolate sauce from the burger). Minus 1 star for skimping on fries. This is a burger I *want* to eat – will be stopping by for more and hope they are consistent!

What a great surprise! We just realized this place opened up around the corner from us, and it’s a perfect fit in this neighborhood. They keep it real with quality burgers and a simple selection of beer. Very cool, quirky atmosphere and the pretzel cheesesteak was to die for. Tommy was really welcoming, explained everything, and made it even more fun to be there. We will definitely be back.

One of the best NYC burgers I’ve had in a long time. The owner and staff make you feel right at home. This place is making me reconsider shitting on Philly.

After two visits a few weeks apart, I call PYT a strong contender in the Big Apple Burger Battle. The«soft» open looks to be over and now expanding the hours and menu items. They get lots of press for their quirky items, but the namesake PYT burger rocks. Pat Lafrida beef and Pat Lafrida thick cut smoked bacon are the star. Tucked inside a nice brioche bun, with tomato, lettuce, caramelized onions, sharp cheddar and a subtle sauce all makes for a great combination. Did I mention they use Pat Lafrida beef and bacon!?! On my last visit a great selection of 70s tunes playing. It is out of the way for me, but well worth the trip. I tried this cuz of the press, but will keep coming back for the great burger.

Inconsistent store hours. Does not open at the hour they specified, causing many to wait for a store to never open.

I purchased a burger card as most of the other reviewers did. I later requested a refund, which Katie Taylor from PYT agreed to. She mailed me a check for the full amount and an pre-paid envelope to send back the card. I sent back the card as advised and later deposited the check. A few days later, I learned that the check bounced! Now I’m out the burger card + the $ 144 I paid for it + a $ 12 bounced check fee from my bank. Everything from my emails to letters in a bottle have been ignored by Katie and the rest of their customer support following this. I simply don’t get how a business accepts a return and agrees to a refund it can’t fulfill. I’m just glad I paid with credit card(and not debit) so I can file a claim. Otherwise, I really would be shit out of luck for giving my money to such a shady business.

Went back. They had all the burgers, but they still don’t offer fries because, the owner told me, they are still looking for the right fries. In NYC. In a city with a thousand different french fry vendors, PYT burger could not find fries that met their high standard. They would rather serve nothing. I tried a cheesesteak pretzel burger, and it was an abomination. A dry, tasteless, hard bun holding a lump of way overcooked, completely unseasoned beef with a puddle of gross cheese at the bottom. When I ordered the burger I was not asked how I wanted it cooked. After starting to eat this mass of dry, tasteless beef, I asked the server what their standard cook was. «Medium well,» he told me. A place that claims to serve one of the best burgers in the world thinks that medium well is how they should be served. In any event, mine was well done. And tasteless. And horrible. And still no fries. And beer still warm. Burger card or not, I’d rather just eat the money I spent on the card than eat another one of those revolting burgers. I’m done. Oh, one more thing. Don’t bring your child or grandmother here. They play extremely explicit rap music extremely loud.

This place is getting pretty bad reviews based on the name of a burger and disappointed philly burger a day card holders. As a burger a day card holding in NYC I am pretty disappointed in what was promised with the purchase of the card which was fries with the burgers, a larger offering of burgers and the fact it was supposed to open in July. As of now they seem to close the doors on random days for various reasons and still don’t offer anything besides a 5 burger menu and beers, water, and soda. Saying all that I came here 5 times in the first 10 days and the burgers were slammin, especially their classic. A very well balanced burger, very well proportionate beef, bacon, cheese, tomato, lettuce, raw onions and sauce. The vegetables were fresh and crispy and generous amount of bacon. Unfortunately the beef is a non optional medium well. Update: The burger quality changed and has been inconsistent. The onion rings were great once and over cooked a second time. They are large round slices of onions but only around half a dozen pieces. The sweet potato and regular fries are ok.

I never got a chance to make it to the original PYT in Philly before they just closed to prepare to move to a new location in a few months, so I was excited to finally get a chance to try it in NYC. Though the full menu still isn’t available, this iteration, known as PYT Burger, seems like it will be a much more scaled down version of the original, eventually only serving 8 different burgers with fries and shakes. Sounds like I still need to get to Philly when the new location opens to get the real experience. On this current opening menu, they only have 5 burgers: PYT, Cheesesteak, Chocolate Donut, Pickleback, and the $ 64(seriously) Basquiat. I obviously had to go for the Chocolate Donut Burger, which is also topped with cheese and bacon($ 12). The donut is slapped on in reverse, with the glazed tops touching the meat, and the slightly charred interiors facing out. It is served in a Chinese takeout container, and unfortunately is all by itself since there are no fries or sides of any kind available yet. I think it tasted good. It must have, right? Donut? Good. Burger? Good. Cheese? Good. Bacon? Good. But seriously, while it was kind of small and not too impressive to look at, it was nice in that it wasn’t disgustingly overwhelming like most donut burgers usually are. The donut bun wasn’t too sweet, and neither was the chocolate, which went surprisingly well with the meat. The best part about PYT Burger so far is the place itself. Good hip hop music(Run The Jewels for the brief time I was there), fun 80’s/video game inspired décor, and of course the fake arcade cabinet slash secret door to SRO, the pizza speakeasy in the back. I’ll go with a 4 star rating for now to give them the benefit of the doubt since I didn’t get the full experience yet. I definitely need to update the review once I return after they at least get some fries and I get a chance to try the rest of the burgers(except for the Basquiat).

The long awaited outpost of the Philly-based chain has finally opened in NYC. I’m a burger-a-day-for-a-year card(which are Taylor Swift approved) holder and I’m delighted that the purchase I made last winter can finally be put to use — at a profit of $ 5,710 if I commit to use this thing every day. That’s probably not going to happen. Maybe once a week? When they rotate the specialty burger? Hold on. A friend has just pointed out to me that what you save in food costs now you pay for in medical bills years later. I’ve not been to a Philly PYT so this review is not comparative. I’m only opining on this in-development location, which is still being painted, which has yet to take credit cards, and has a limited menu of 4 burgers and is devoid of donuts and bacon tonight. No fries either. Soon, they say.(Specifically, they said«We will be closing for a few days and will reopen with our full menu, including fries and shakes, on Wednesday October 14th at 6pm.») But there is a $ 64 Basquiat prime beef burger on there. Absent options, they suggested I order the cheesesteak pretzel burger, which was basically a Philly cheesesteak as a burger on a pretzel bun. Not bad. Not the sort of thing I’d ever tell my doctor I’ve eaten, especially the details: all the delicious grease dripping from it and cheez whiz oozing from it. But it’s not the sort of thing I can’t not eat when it’s right in front of me either. I’ll be back. Though I’ll regret it when I’m popping pills to keep my heart pumping by the time I’m 45, I intend to squeeze the life out of my burger card this year.
