Good place to eat a take out lunch especially if the weather is bad. Not too many bums.

Thanks to Rich W. for putting this place on the Unilocal map. With cathedral ceilings, clean white tables, air conditioning and free Wifi, this atrium provides an ideal venue for reading/working in relative peace and quiet and constitutes an oasis in this congested working neighborhood. The sandwich shop inside is not bad, and the ice cream shop looked popular.

As the temperature drops like a rock an outdoor place to sit by myself or with friends for a bagged lunch is non-existent. Even cozy corners are not shielded from the fierce wind and cold. One of my favorite indoor public space nearby my office is at this location. I discovered it one hot steamy summer day while walking down Pine St. The space is accessible by entrances on Pine St. side and Wall St. Many people may think it s a lobby but it is a designated public space with free internet! The space is very large with cathedral-like ceilings of probably 40+ feet. It is comfortable here because it is heated in the winter and air-conditioned in the summer. In the hot steamy summer days I have my favor cool granite bench to site on and cool off, eat lunch, read a magazine or just listen to music. Laptops can take advantage of the free wireless internet. There are some regulars here which includes a group that play chess in one corner. If you go early empty tables & chair are still available. Food carts are right outside on Wall St. for latte, gyros, and chicken with rice platters. On the Pine St. side you’ll find a nice sandwich shop and a Japanese restaurant or take a short walk to the end of the block for more food selections. There is a small convenience stall for snacks. So for about 30 minutes to 1-hour I get away to this space for lunch. This public space is opened daily to the public from 7am to 10pm.
