I’m a stickler for Chinese food. Quick honest review… Speed of delivery — incredible. Staff — although rushed, super friendly. Taste — VERY dependent on what you get. Some dishes are 5/5, one was 2⁄5. Price — pretty reasonable. Overall — a great local establishment. If you’ve got the patience to try a few dishes, I’m sure you’ll find something you like(hopefully)!

First let me say this is my third time ordering from this place and they’re consistently bad. This is the worst Chinese food place ever. Why would you keep ordering? You might ask. Ok, the catch for me is «Its Monday«I didn’t take any lunch with me and my Co worker isn’t here so I can’t leave. I’m starving it’s 1 o’clock and my shift ends at 8, so yea that’s why I ordered . I ordered General Tso Chicken with white rice and Shrimp Lo Mein from the lunch special $ 13.85. My plan was to throw out the rice and eat the chicken with the lo mein. The General Tso Chicken smelled burned, was so crunchy it sounded like I was chewing bones and the lo mein was a 3 out of 10. I’m already looking for somewhere else to order from just in case there’s a next time or I’ll drink water until I get home. Trust me there will not be a forth time.

We used to love this place, but somewhere along the line they mustve switched management because this place has gone downhill. Rude server on the phone for delivery, they constantly miss items ive ordered and have to call them back to get either my order right or money back and it was always a hassle. Now, apparently they charge an extra 2 $ for sauce on the side? Makes no sense. Save your money and order elsewhere.

I just received my order from Pic Up Stix and it wasn’t what was on the menu or what I thought I had ordered. I ordered Chicken with garlic sauce — I got a minimal amount of chicken with a TON of green peppers which I am allergic to. I called the restaurant and relayed this info and was told I should have specified no peppers. I told her I would have done so if it was listed on the menu as part of the dish — I specifically looked at other dishes that listed peppers and bypassed them for that reason alone. She kept repeating that I should have said no peppers. She told me that 5 times. I hung up and threw away the allergy ridden food. I will never order from here again

Figured I’d give this place a try since there are not much chinese fast food places near my office. I placed the order during lunch hour and surprisingly it came within 30 mins. No complaints there. I tried an order of fried dumplings and a chicken and broccoli over rice. The taste was okay. Edible. What bothered me the most was the layer of oil just floating on the bottom of the container. But even without seeing the oil you can taste and feel it in your mouth as if you were chugging oil. That oily sensation definitely stayed in my mouth for way too long. And for that reason itself I will not be returning.

The 4 star rating is based on the type of food/place. No, this is not the best Chinese food ever, but it’s not parading as such. This place is your quick and easy takeout Chinese food. The food quality is not bad, the prices are extremely reasonable. Got 2 dishes, 2 egg rolls, and 2 soups for less than 30 dollars. And not to mention, the taste was actually pretty good. Do not come here if you are expecting the best meal ever. Come here if you want to satisfy your Chinese food craving quick, easy, and cheap. Don’t overthink it.

I consider myself a connoisseur of greasy chinese food, even ranking the crunchy noodles or how much duck sauce they give out. This is no nonsense NYC Chinese Food. Portions huge, nothing fancy… and not too greasy. Have the egg foo young normally, soup is great and Lo Mein is extremely well done. Can’t wait to try all the classics, but I am a fan! Especially that hearty Egg foo Young! Place looks old school on the inside, delivery great as well. A place for another era. Thumbs up, Pick Up Stix!

The Sesame Chicken was fabulous! Sauce was amazing, as was the egg roll. They were also kind enough to send extra soy, as I had run out at home! Can’t wait to try the lemon chicken. Pay the extra for white-meat chicen though — it’s worth it — not dry at all.

Basic Chinese take-out — good food and they deliver pretty quickly. My only issue is that the people who answer the phones aren’t really fluent in English which can be frustrating when you want to make simple changes.

Pic Up Stix is a neighborhood Chinese place on the UES. If you go there you’ll see that the place is humble and simple if utilitarian. The place appears to be managed by a no-nonsense woman who handles the phone and takes orders, though she is very polite and efficient at what she does. It appears that they make most of their business on deliveries. I haven’t seen customers sitting at the tables, though there might be at different times. That being said, the place is clean and they have a very extensive menu. Not everything is good on the menu, and it’s basically hit or miss . This is the kind of place where if you find something you like, you stick with it. I basically like the special lunch menu which is economically priced and they provide a good helping. My favorites here are the chicken lo mein, pork lo mein, pork fried rice and chicken fried rice. The food is fresh and tasty. Strange to see such a bargain still found on the rip-off UES. The delivery guys are quick enough so the the food arrives hot. The lunch special covers between 11:30 and 4PM which is a long time span. Again, don’t expect Shanghai level cuisine but in my book, it hits the spot for a quick and filling bite on the UES !

This place is convenient to where I work, so on days when I don’t bring lunch, it’s a decent alternative to Subway or pizza. Food quality is satisfactory, nothing amazing. Lunch menu portions are terrible. I got curry chicken w/onions and there was about 2 cups of rice, filling up 2⁄3 of the container and the rest was mostly onions. They should call it curry chicken surprise, you’re surprised when you find a piece of chicken: D

Ordered late night(probably my first mistake). Order arrived after about an hour. Found a staple(with a little paper attached) in the stir fry shrimp. Thank God I was putting it on a plate and caught it. I’m sorry, but that is ridiculous. I plan on filing a complaint in the morning.

Really 2−½ stars, but what the heck. The good is that they are extremely fast and very reasonably priced. The bad is that the cuts/quality of ingredients, particularly the meat, is where they cut costs. If you compare with the more highly-rated in Unilocal you will notice the difference. In short, this is an OK very fast delivery option, but if you want something at all nuanced, not your place.

Horrible!!! if you want beyond low quality meats and sauces this is the place for you. Spent $ 31 and everything was poorly executed. Sesame chicken quality of the meat was old and hard. Chicken wings are pink. Rice was trash. Fortune cookies were stale. Never again and would not recommend this dump.

Love this restaurant. After work I would always walk by the restaurant and pick up something there at least once a week. The staff is friendly and extremely prompt. The Chinese food is the best I have ever had(compared to south central MA). The food is affordable and doesn’t taste frozen.

I ordered some very bland fried rice– very disappointing. The service is kind and un-hectic, so perhaps I’d try something else.

They a good range of vegetable and tofu dishes. not too expensive Food is usually pretty good. –however the boneless rib tips taste like pure grease and the scallion pancakes are fat and not crispy. They make mistakes because they do not understand what you are saying, but they are nice about fixing the mistakes. I have the hang of ordering from them now and do not really have a problem.

This place is called PIC up stix, not PICK!!! I love the typo. The food is typical mediocre chinese food, but the people are nice, and the brown rice switch is free. Sesame chicken lunch special, always! Only sucky chinese place I go to these days. I appreciate the fortune cookie.

Come here for lunch every week. Sesame chicken lunch special; brown rice is better than white rice. Their lunch special allows you to add an egg roll and a soda/water(and maybe a soup?) for $.60, so this is pretty cheap of a lunch. The chicken is plentiful and delicious; at times it gets a bit soggy, but on other occasions it is perfectly made. There isn’t a lot of broccoli, though. Sometimes the rice is a lot more abundant than the chicken. You never get too little chicken, though. The chicken is crispy and delicious; I generally do not like sesame chicken as it is too interchangeable with General Tso’s, but these guys are a little more original. Their egg rolls aren’t good though, pretty typical. I mean, I go here every week, so I obviously like it enough to come back. One thing to note is to make sure you don’t spill. Many of the dishes have a sauce, and they give you like one napkin, so if you spill it in the bag it gets REALLY messy!

Pretty lame take out Chinese place close to where I live. Super cheap lunch specials. Nothing much as for décor, so take out is a better option. Stick to the standard basic dishes and you should be ok and not need a stomach pump. Had the sesame chicken and egg drop soup last visit and it was ok. This is basically a desperation«emergency — break glass» kind of place if you really must have some Chinese food at that moment.

This is my go to place for Chinese on the Upper East Side. It serves cheap food that is always consistent and tasty as well. I would recommend ordering for delivery as the restaurant is not anything special. It has about seven table and the décor matches the price of the food. I always order the sesame chicken with Egg Drop Wanton soup. It is so good I find it difficult to order anything else. I have had the egg rolls and they are great as well. I would recommend ordering white chicken in your meal. It is a little more expensive but it is definitely worth it. When you order for delivery the people on the phone are not really friendly but they are efficient and the speed of delivery is amazing. I once ordered over the phone and ten minutes later the delivery guy was at my door. This is a great place if you are looking for cheap Chinese food without traveling down to Chinatown.

For those following my Pic Up Stix adventure(judging the by the number of votes, no one. but that’s cool.), yes, I did return, and yes, it was still delicious. Like I said, it’s a no frills joint that serves cheap Chinese-American food. We went in at 2:00 on a Saturday to order, and there was no one in there. Awesome. We ordered to go for a picnic in the park, and when I returned to pick it up, there were a few people in there, so not all was lost. I went with a staple, the Sesame Chicken. They are now charging for the additional hot and sour soup(it used to come with the lunch special), but nostalgia called, so I ordered it. Both of them hit the spot. Next time I’m in the city, I’ll be sorely tempted to make my way back here.
