Really bad management and staff. definitely not going to go there again. Very unfriendly and not customer friendly at all.

I see a lot of people complaining about the prices here, but I actually thought they were pretty fair. My issue was with the taste of the actual spicy tuna roll. It had no spice, just pulverized fish, and there was way too much rice, which wasn’t cooked correctly. The soy sauce was liquid salt — but the roll itself was salty — so it was overall a pretty terrible meal.

First off, don’t be scared! I know, I know it’s Penn Station and sushi but this little gem is actually perfect for what it is, a hole in the wall sushi bar. It’s bare-bones basic, no requests, just pre-boxed sushi options. The sushi is pretty good and they’re rolling the rolls in the back. Nothing sits long, which is good. Even better is they take credit cards. Only downside is they’ve definitely raised their prices in the last few years, it’s more expensive that a hole in the wall joint should be at Penn($ 15 for their fancier boxes) but if you’re craving sushi or not feeling greasy Penn Station choices it’s a very nice option.

Surprisingly good for Penn station. Solid selection, reasonable pricing given the location.

Surprisingly good for a takeout place at Penn Station, and a pretty good selection of most popular nigiri and rolls. Too expensive for lunch as I have to spend about $ 15 without drink just to fill my belly most of the way.

Don’t know why people are complaining about the price, it is a sushi place… inside Penn Station. Combine both and well these prices. Anyway, I didn’t get sushi here. For some reason, this place sells Ochazuke/chazuke, aka green tea over rice(most likely Winter only.) I like this dish and it was nice and inexpensive so why not. Flavor was fine, little pieces of fish in there along with rice and some crunchy seaweed. Nice and refreshing, worked well for the cold winter day. Nice people here, I’ll give it… a 3.2 or so.

Of course it’s overpriced since it’s a train station, and it’s run by adorable Korean ladies, so it has a little«Korean flare» to the sushi. However, if you just want a quick snack like onigiri, this is the place you should get it from.

Penn Sushi is close to the entrance of Penn Station and the tracks. They have decent selection and good food. Their selection includes boxed sushi and soups. I had the velvet roll, which was very good. I also had a fried bean curd and rice dumpling kind of thing which was also good. This is a convenient option for travelers in NY Penn Station.

Decent sushi if you’re in a bind and the food in general is much better than the greasy slop at most other places. Penn sushi is like a machine churning out rolls which is a good thing as items don’t sit. The best thing about penn sushi is the japanese dessert items such as red bean cookies if you have a sweet tooth. The salmon skin roll isn’t bad and the rice while devoid of most flavor does have a touch of sake to it so maybe they use somewhat legit cooking methods. Fast service and decent price point

1 stars for being mediocre sushi, 1 for not killing me, –3 stars for the shrimp wrap(really) not agreeing with my girlfriend. I mean, it’s Penn Station sushi, what could we have expected?

I want to like it b/c it is so convenient and I love sushi; but so far, the flavor is just not good! I may try something that should hv no seasoning and maybe it will be great! Healthy Spicy Tuna– love the idea of the rice but the tuna is flavored badly and not with the Japanese mayo you expect. It’s overly salty and not really spicy at all. However, it was definitely fresh which was a plus! Expensive roll, but that was expected with the convenience.

So this was a good spot to stop by for lunch whenever I am about to go aboard an NJ Transit or an Amtrak. Nice and convenient. Sushi selection is great. They even have a variety of Japanese snacks there and I will get some if I ever get a chance to go back. The good part is I am given a pair of chopsticks with my food! Even though it may be somewhat expensive and if you are a pescetarian, then this is the place for you! This place may be a take-away spot in a train station but you can eat on the train or while you wait for your train in the waiting room(s)!

WHAT?! How is it that the most fresh and tastiest sushi in NYC is found in a hole in the wall in Penn Station??? I was surprised to see that it only has 3.5 stars on Unilocal!I don’t understand why some people are so dissatisfied with this place. I’ve been picking up boxes of sushi here for years at every opportunity that I had. I used to go through New York when traveling back and forth from college, and this little place was always the highlight of my trip! Now I live in NYC and still hold a very special spot in my heart for Penn Sushi :) I’m not easily impressed by sushi joints. Sushi is a bit of an obsession in my family, and I’ve been in love with it since I was three. This place is awesome. I swear by it.

Great place if your in a jam for a bite to eat. I’ve picked food up from here quite a few times over the years. Most recently — the ferry roll… No rice, no seaweed. Tuna, avocado, salmon all wrapped with very thin slices of cucumber. Very filling. Hit the spot for my 30 min train ride home.

It’s a good place to pick up some healthy snacks, but the sushi leaves a lot to be desired. In fairness, it is a sushi spot in a train station. However, the last two times I could not finish my meal given the taste — just not that fresh. It tastes like your run-of-the-mill supermarket sushi. Trust me, I HATE wasting food. Also, the distribution of soy sauce is laughable! If Seinfeld was still on I am sure they would have made an episode featuring the«Soy Sauce Nazi».

Went to this place to get something before my train to DC. Loved the food and selection of Japanese fast food. Left very happy; but unfortunately, my soup fell out of the paper sack and spilled — they gave me a 2nd cup and were going to put it in a plastic bag; but I decided to eat it there — it was extremely hot; like it was supposed to be — and very delicious!

This place is a little gem. It is a very small stand but they have amazing products and even better service. There sushi is the best in midtown with reasonable pricing. However, what you really want to get is the green tea soup and the onigiri. The green tea soup is nice and nutty with rice and seawood and is only $ 3.5. The onigiri comes with many fillings, like salmon, spicy tuna, steak and shrimp — For $ 3 these make a tasty snack or paired with some soup make for a good meal. They also have a nice selection of dumplings and mochi products, as well lots of drink options. Skip the bad fast food and the other bad sushi options and check this little place out.

The owners here are terrific. They have watched my 7 year old grow up from the age of 2. We enjoy the(frozen but tasty) shrimp shumai and edamame. I get a few items here — the vegetable summer roll is great. Closed on Sundays.

I’ll be honest: the idea of buying sushi in an underground train terminal wasn’t immediately appetizing. However, when you are starving and have a four-hour train ride ahead of you, chances are, you are willing to take some risks. I wouldn’t have even tried it out had it not been for the giant«A» rating behind the counter. I mean, if it’s good enough for NYC’s Health Department, who am I to argue? I bough the shrimp tempura just to be on the safe side, thinking that a little-bit cooked would be better than not-at-all cooked given the circumstances. As you can probably guess, it was tasty, but not the best I had ever had. Still, it was fine for being in a rush. If you are at Penn Station and want a healthy meal option, Penn Sushi is cool to try and a lot better of an option than other choices there. It’s been a couple hours now and the food’s digested with no issues. My fears have been allayed!

After walking most of the chains in Penn Station, I was quite excited to see the sign for Penn Sushi. Some non chain food. Yay! Unfortunately, the sushi rolls weren’t great. Rice a bit hard and the fiilings not really full of flavour. Actually the rolls were cold, perhaps explaining both of the above problems. I did pick them up early-ish in the morning — had they perhaps just come out of a colder fridge overnight? I so wanted to like the sushi here as I like supporting private businesses but it wasn’t great.
