If I could give them less than a star I would! I had lunch there, ordered shumai, which was clearly«steamed» in a microwave as I watched them prepare it, and i ordered three lunch rolls, all raw fish rolls, all of which came out warm, with hardly any fish and basically all rice, plus it tasted as though it was not fresh at all, it was truly unappetizing! After telling the staff that i wanted to send it back, the chef came out and proceeded to tell me i was wrong and that not one person has ever complained about the sushi. I was then charged the full 20 $ for the lunch which i barely touched. If you like good quality sushi and fresh fish, this is not the place.

Sushi was mediocre. Nothing too special. It was fresh. Small inside. Not a place to really go on a date but if your hungry and want to grab a quick bite it’s not bad. Bathrooms were upstairs and extremely small. Beer selection was Sapporo only. They have other drinks like Snapple and soda otherwise. I don’t think I’ll go back here.

Came here on a Friday for lunch. Small place, not many tables. A lot of pick-ups/takeouts. Miso soup was fine so was the salad that comes with the bento box. Sushi was warm and smelled fishy I barely could eat it all. I didn’t like the sides that came with the bento box either. I will not be coming back.

A little pricey but good overall experience. You have to cut some slack for one lady working the whole front. She’s polite and hardworking. In terms of food, I can only speak for the pork katsu bento box, which was good but not the best. I would order the chicken next time. It definitely satisfies a quick asian craving(food, that is).

Great sushi, but horrible service. The server was completely rude. Snatched the menus away and did not even let us finish our sentences. Mind you we were the only people in the place other than a couple that was already eating. If you don’t care about the service or you’re getting take out this is a great place. Also very affordable.

Dake Sushi is a nice, little restaurant to get a quick sushi or noodle fix. The staff are friendly and service is pretty fast. The udon here is incredible! The tempura goes very well with their delicious noodles. Their udon is one of the best I’ve ever had. My only complaint is the restaurant is very tight and small, literally, it’s so tiny if you blink you’ll walk by it not even knowing it exists. Also, the bathroom is like a tiny little box. You can barely fit inside. But, other than that, Dake Sushi is a very good restaurant in the heart of New York City.

Came here expecting to enjoy some quality sushi. I ordered chicken sushi, not thinking of how literal the item was. They did not have any cucumber or avocado or anything in it besides rice and chicken. Also after paying with my card, I politely asked for spicy mayo on mine as he was preparing it, and he replied it would be an extra .50 cents. I obviously was not going to swipe my card for that, so because of a lousy .50 cents he lost my service.

This place is a gem in the city. It’s a small place, but there is a reason it is busy every time I go. Nonetheless, they are fast and the service is always friendly. But most importantly, considering it’s a restaurant, there food is amazing. They always have THEFRESHEST sushi and sashimi. There udons are delicious! The establishment is kept clean. After coming here, all other places will never measure up. My friends from Queens will even come into the city just for sushi from here!

I’ve read mixed reviews for the sushi, which I haven’t really eaten here, but really the star of Dake Sushi is their Udon. Seriously, it puts the other udon I’ve had from to-go lunch places to shame– great noodles, large tempura-battered prawns(not the little shrimp that other places will give you), and a balanced rich broth. Their katsu-don is pretty good too, for a quick lunch. The place is small, and not ideal for groups, but pleasant for single diners. I have absolutely no idea what they mean by rude staff though– there’s a husband and wife that run the restaurant, with the wife doing all waiting, and she’s incredibly polite and does a great job keeping things coming out on time while welcoming people and taking all of the to-go orders.

Even the ginger was bad… Do not eat here, the meats tasted like old frozen cardboard, the sushi was a cross between bland and badly constructed, questionable ‘meat’. Normally I’m the type to eat everything on my plate, and here I didn’t even want to finish the main portions of the meal. Save your money, go somewhere else a block away, and avoid the rude staff who throw plates on your table because they know how crappy the food is.

Prices are reasonable, and service is OK, but the food is severely underwhelming. The ratio of rice to sushi on the rolls mirrored that of an all-you-can-eat restaurant(i.e. rice overload), the teriyaki chicken was rubbery — very clearly microwaved and previously frozen, the rice was mushy and flavorless. The highlight was the salad dressing. Not a shred of effort, integrity or pride was exercised to make the meal we just forced down. I’ve had better food on coach flights.

Surprised this gets average reviews. I would have preferred a hockey puck from MSG for lunch.

This place is okay, the food is averagely priced but not the best quality. I got a salmon don for dinner and the slicing of the fish was choppy at best. The rice had a nice flavor, rather than just normal rice that most use they actually used sushi rice. I wouldn’t recommend going here unless everything else was closed. There are much better places close by.

Passed by this place while going to the world’s largest Macys. After shopping I decided to get two street dogs and a soda which cost $ 9 and it was just regular dogs. While walking back and still hungry I decided to stop in. Ordered 4 rolls: Tomago, spicy tuna, Alaska(salmon, avocado and cucumber) and yellowtail/scallion. It was good, fish was fresh and not fishy. Total: $ 19.95, tipped $ 4 cuz the service was fast and friendly. I think people who gave this place a bad review really don’t get it and expect way too much for the price they are paying.

The good: Reasonably-priced dinner combos. You have your choice of 3 rolls from a big list for less than $ 14 with choice of miso soup or salad. The bad: A tiny bench/seating area for eating. Even for girl with a tiny bum like myself, I could barely get comfy.

Great food! Only reason why I didn’t give it a 5 star, because of the small space. Besides that, great food, service and well presented. I love this place

Walked around to try yet another small sushi joint to eat for lunch with a friend. The place is relatively quick based on the little staff they have and the little amount of space they use. I thought the food was a tad bit pricey and the food to be okay. I ordered the spicy crab roll, spicy tuna roll, and spicy salmon roll, all with a bit of crunch. Miso Soup tasted like most miso soup that I drink at japanese restaurants. I found the crab texture to be a bit awkward and was expecting a soft california roll style crab meat. the flavor was okay. I definitely liked the salmon and tuna better. The tuna was okay and the salmon was nice. Overall, this place was okay! Nothing particularly special that I found from eating here yet. Will update my review if there is!

So the food was good but the lunch special(at least for sushi) was a rip off. Each roll only comes with 6 not 8 pieces. And the soup cup was half full. Not cool. You’re better off ordering regular rolls and such, but like I said everything tasted fresh and great. I come here between classes all the time. Also, there avocado salad is awesome. So much avocado. Soooo much.

A bit cramped and hot but the lunch special of 2 rolls and a salad for $ 8 in Midtown West is pretty damned good. The sushi in the area kind of sucks so Dake sticks out to be one of the better ones. The service wasn’t the greatest but it got the job done. I’d be back.
