Three stars for being FAR better than the location closer to Broadway near the grey’s papaya. Apparently this spot become some fancy restaurant that didn’t do particularly well. They recently went back to their pub-like menu and tv with sports flowing like the Guinness tap. If I lived near by, it would be a decent place to grab a beer and watch a game. As far as food, it is a little pricey, even for burgers. I had the Gaelic burger, which was great except for the overcooking of my burger. If i say med. rare it means I want to see pink in there. The fries are great though, and apparently they have good wings too. Drinks are reasonably priced for the UWS, a guinness comes in at $ 6.50. Or you could get a budweiser bottle for $ 5. Hmm. an extra $ 1.50 for a beer that doesn’t taste like water? Sign me up. The bar also has a little«restaurant» seating area in the back. The front is mostly high tops and the bar area. Service isn’t exactly top notch, but I can’t imagine many people come here for Union Square Restaurant Group level service.

Horrible service! Our drink order came fast but servers ignored us for 20 minutes until someone took our food order. After an hour we finally had appetizers in front of us. Our dinner followed shortly after. Then our server disappeared again for 30 minutes. They sure were quick to bring our check though! The chicken pot pie an shepherd’s pie were delicious but the service made this place unbearable. Beer was warm out of the tap to top it all off!

I went here with a friend for lunch after running a race in Central Park. It was the perfect spot for us. It was relatively quiet on a Sunday afternoon. We didn’t try the brunch but it looked pretty good. I had the Famous Fish Pie and it far exceeded my expectations — the seafood in it, particularly the salmon, were fantastic, which bodes well for the rest of the seafood items on the menu. My friend had the Shepherd’s Pie, which was not as good. The beer selection was decent and it tasted good. I’ll definitely go back again when in the area.

Late afternoon lunch at PD O’Hurleys with a party of 5. Plenty of room and comfortable seating. Slow service and mediocre bar food. Must be a local hangout as it filled up around 5PM and everyone looked to be having a decent time. It’s not like it was horrible but I will look for alternatives next time we’re in this neighborhood.

Hubby wanted to go to at least one comfortable pub while in NYC so I booked this place ahead of time on OpenTable for our first meal in NYC. Just a short walk from our hotel, we arrive and were greeted by the hostess. Here’s how the conversation went… HOSTESS: Welcome to P.D. O’Hurley’s! ME: Hello, we have reservations for dinner. HOSTESS: Excuse me, you’re going to have to speak louder. ME: We are here for dinner and have reservations! HOSTESS: Are you here for drink only or dinner? ME: Dinner, we have reservations. I booked it on OpenTable. HOSTESS: Sure we have an open table but do you want to drink or eat? ME: Eat!!! HOSTESS: Right this way. Funny how this place uses OpenTable for their reservations but have no idea what it is, at least the hostess didn’t. We were so frustrated at that point that we plowed through our food which wasn’t half bad so that redeems them slightly. It was apparent that this place mostly caters to business professionals that come for an after work drink and less to those that want to come and eat. Overall though the dishes were reasonably priced so that’s ok in my book too. I probably will set out to find another pub elsewhere next time we’re in town.

I came in here for a quick drink before an appointment. It does not feel like it’s on one of the busiest street corners on the Upper West Side, and I mean that in a good way. It feels like a neighborhood spot, away from the bustle, with a nice, friendly vibe. I got a Sam for $ 6 and sat at the bar by myself. I appreciated the lack of sleazy feeling that I’ve encountered at other bars.

This place is my new hang out. It’s about a year and a half old but is very established. Reasonable Manhattan prices, fantastic staff, yummy food, beautiful granite top bar, bartenders on the weekend are both real Irish men which is an intriguing plus! This place is a fun mix between a chill Irish pub and a rowdy sports bar. Have 1 pour of Guinness here and your sure to stay the night.

Yep, I’m definitely a fan. Although I have yet to see the bar packed, I like the size of the crowd so far. I’ve passed the time where wall to wall crowds are a fun thing so, this may be your cup of tea too. I love a bar where the bartender remembers your face, and greets you in the manner that they are happy to see you again. Being new to the neighborhood, that’s a big plus. Great staff, great beers on tap and really good pub food and I don’t have to drive home :-)

what a great addition to the lower-upper west side. There are literally no bars in the neighborhood(except the other pd ohurleys) so I was really glad when this place opened. I would have never thought to order more than ‘bar’ food here, but their menu does not disappoint. Really good burgers and solid entrees. Only complaint(why no 5 stars) is the prices are kind of steep and a night here can really add up!

This is for the newest(as of 1⁄2011) outpost of PD O’Hurleys, located on 72nd between Broadway & West End. Not to be confused with the PD O’Hurleys on 72nd between Amsterdam & Columbus. You can see why some might be confused… This new PD’s is making for a good local option for my wife & I, though sadly we’re often guilty of not thinking of it until we’ve already made another, ill-advised choice. Plenty of taps, good food(particularly the fries, which I think are outstanding), good staff. After more-than-a-few visits here for brunch or lunch or dinner or just drinks, we spoke to them about using their back room for a brunch the day after our wedding. Mickey worked with us, making us a custom menu and giving our group free reign over the back room. In the end, we had more guests than we’d anticipated, and they were a bit overrun by us, but the staff performed admirably and happily, shuttling back & forth with coffee(so much coffee; the wedding was a bit of a boozefest) and juice and alcohol-type drinks(though I honestly don’t know who the hell could have taken much more of it that day), and, of course, tons of food. The portions are huge, and everybody made sure to tell us just how good their meals had been. Check out this PD’s branch if you’re in the neighborhood, grab a pint, maybe a burger. And if you’re looking for a place for an easy private party, give them a call.

Zucchini squash soup sounds funky, but it probably one of the best soups I’ve ever eaten. Great service and atmosphere. There are 2 on 72nd St.

Went here for lunch today with my sister and will not be back. Although I thought the property was well laid out for the bar crowd(nice amount of space, TVs positioned for optimal viewing), it’s not a place I would go for food again. We shared a salad and each had a sandwich/wrap and were surprised at the total of the bill. My sister’s veggie sandwich was boring and the crabcakes on our caesar salad, although tasty, were not the right consistency(very mushy). I was happy with my asparagus, shrimp, arugula wrap… but not enough for the prices we paid. I’d say skip it for food and head here for a pint and the game.

Opened in the old All-State Café location. Bar is open, the sign outside says that the kitchen will be opening shortly.
