One evening after the gym, my friend and I set off to meet another friend of ours to enjoy a well-earned dinner. We decided to treat ourselves to Italian and opted for a place on the Upper West Side in close proximity to the gym and for low-key after dinner drinks. Our friend, Howie R., was waiting for us in the back of the restaurant by the bar. An interesting place to be since bars are typically near the entrance but this suggested that people who choose to sit at the bar could feel like a part of the crowd sitting down for dinner. I originally made a reservation via Open Table and once we were checked in, we were instructed to wait as a table was set-up. When it was ready, Howie R. checked his coat and bag since there was hardly room between the tables that were set-up towards the middle of the restaurant. Sitting next to him, I was lucky there was no one directly next to me as that would have presented an awkward problem getting out from the table should I have needed to do that. The service was great overall and our waitress was very attentive and observant meaning, she did not come up to us too much in the beginning since she saw how we were deep in conversation. We ordered some water along with one Manhattan and two Chardonnay’s in preparation for what would inevitably be a heavy dinner. My friend Chris G. and I split the Calamari from the Insalata ~ Antipasto section of the menu comprising of sautéed calamari, tomato jam, swiss chard, raisin, and pine nuts. For the entrée, we split an incredible pasta dish named Pappardelle Buttera: sweet and spicy sausage, sweet green peas, sage and perfectly creamy vodka sauce. They split the dish very nicely evening out the sauce, peas and sausage. In fact, it was a good portion to have since even though the sauce appeared to be heavy(it was) the rest of the dish looked like it wouldn’t be enough. Howie R. ordered the Pappardelle Funghi e Tartufo: wild mushroom ragu, white wine, truffle cream, roasted garlic and basil because he’s a «Funghi!»(Funghi = Fun Guy… get it? Ha, ha!). The waitress laughed as we all did, gotta love a good pun! As our pasta disappeared, we not only enjoyed the food, drinks and décor but we appreciated the crowd that dined there as well. There were a lot of mature couples or people in their 30’s — 40’s. The restaurant was buzzing and people were friendly, as one woman wished us all goodnight and an older couple opposite us engaged us in a pretty interesting conversation as well. Typically I’m not a huge fan of this kind of situation, but it was welcomed. It set the tone for the restaurant since a lot of people there were locals and whoever was in the city, felt it was well worth the trip to come in and saw Pappadelle as a must for dinner. Although it is not one of the best Italian restaurants in the city, it is certainly one of the better restaurants in the area to enjoy Italian food.

Pappardella organized a beautiful lunch for my daughters baptism. I could not have imagined a better restaurant for this. All of the organizing was done with perfection by the general manager Marion– we emailed back and forth finalizing all of the details for the day. Jose was the manager on the day of our event, and he was very kind and patient with out party. The lunch went beautifully, we had 9 children present and the restaurant handled our chaos with such grace. The food, as always was delicious. Our guests were very pleased, as were we as the hosts! Pappradella is a family feel restaurant. It has old school values. I really appreciated this as many of the other restaurants in the neighborhood were not interested in hosting our lunch because we had kids, where as Pappardella was super accommodating and made us feel very welcomed. I highly recommend Pappardella for your next large party event, or a simple romantic date night(which my husband and I have enjoyed here as well).

I took my girlfriend for a date and decided to try this restaurant, the hostess Alex is amazing. She was very welcoming and accommodated us right away. The menu is not too long so its easier to pick and the wine selection is good. This is one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve had in NYC.

Dropped in for dessert, best Torta Di Cioccolato I’ve ever had, served with hazelnut ice cream and caramel sauce complimented the cake perfectly.

Great spot for the celiac in your life. They offer gluten free menu along with regular food menu. Sangria was good. Full of fruit.

Delicious food. Started with the asparagus in a creamy pesto sauce with light cheese. Then had the salmon as an entrée which was very light and perfectly cooked. Finished with a delicious cappuccino and gelato. Will return again!

The papardelle fungi was exceptionally good. The gnocchi pomodoro was filling and just the right size. The bread was good and gave you olive oil, pepper, and salt. There’s a good atmosphere and the waiters are friendly and chatty. Very clean. We walked in without a reservation and they sat us easily. Fairly good service and overall, very good.

Pappardella has been one of my favorite spots for Italian food, even long before I moved into the neighborhood. Being gluten-free I appreciate the full menu of gluten-free options and the restaurant’s willingness to accommodate any changes to them menu. While the food is on the pricer side, the quality of the food and service are worth it. I can never leave without ordering the flourless chocolate cake for dessert! Since I live nearby, I often order takeout, sometimes for delivery and sometimes for pickup. The food always arrives hot and much faster than specified. Overall, a great experience!

Great meal. Friendly staff, cozy restaurant with nice décor. My only negative was $ 19 for plain penne with a couple of slices of grilled chicken for my 4 year old… That’s a little crazy even for NYC. Everything else was great…

Monday afternoon Lun-ner. Walked in and got a great seat. Got the price fix menu. bruschetta: Prosciutto: It was delicious. pappardelle funghi e tartufo: it was delicious tiramisu with coffee: it was delicious. Although, I found it a bit odd that they had a price fix, then added a lot of supplemental charges for different dishes. I don’t necessarily like that. pizza: prosciutto: it was a sizable portion. Overall impression: I enjoyed it. Nice overall ambiance. I would go back.

Thought that if I checked in it would write a review but it didn’t! I was pleasantly surprised by this place! The food and service were great! I had the chicken park and the Caprino salad. I would definitely come back even just for a cocktail!

Had a great time here for my friend’s b’day but, with all the great choices for Italian in the city, you can do much better. The pizza apps were pretty good. Sauce could’ve had a bit more flavor but nice thin crust and cooked perfect. Overall, I was most disappointed w/the entrees. My linguine and clams was as bland as they come and that’s how I determine whether or not an Italian place knows what it’s doing.(to this day, it’s hard to find better linguine and clams than Carmine’s.) Best dish there hands down is the mushroom pasta. I will give them that. It’s awesome. If you go, definitely get that and avoid the clam sauce as it tastes like water.

We picked up a groupon for a picnic. It was decent. I think it was worth the 30something $$ we paid for the groupon, but definitely not their original price $ 94. Everything was in plastic boxes with a vinyl tablecloth The antipasto was ok. I saw a pic of a previous customer who had much nicer cheeses. I think its because 2 of our cheeses were very creamy and just looked like a smush in the box We got 3 cheeses, one was a fragrant soft blue cheese. Then we got a light smear of cheese –almost tasted like cream cheese. Then just 2 big slices of a harder cheese. some olives, artichoke and meats. Olive oil and bread pesto penne pasta– not bad. had good flavor, parmesan, and a little bit of cherry tomatoes The sandwich was decent, very simple. Fresh mozerrella, 2 slices of tomato and proscuitto. the bread was very good and crusty. The lemon squares were absolutely disgustingly unedible. You could just taste the entire stick of butter which was used, and everything just glued your mouth shut. No fragrance, no finesse, just a gobsmack of butter in your mouth. The biscotti were really good. Nice almond flavor, hard crunch All in all, a decent picnic worth $ 30(I think on groupon its $ 39 and then there was a $ 5 tax and pick up fee. I don’t think its worth $ 40. I had used a 20% off groupon code… so it was around $ 30), but don’t be expected to be blown away

Why was $ 160.92 deducted from my Paypal acct? I purchased a Groupon deal for $ 75 to this restaurant in NYC. The restaurant ended up charging me the full value of the deal & deducting it from my acct. I contacted Paypal to fix this & reverse the charges– and now the full amount has been deducted from my acct. So basically I paid $ 75 for the Groupon AND then Pappardella charged my acct $ 160 for the same exact deal to the restaurant! I am furious right now– please fix this! L. Thorn

Time for Some brunch! Great day to eat outside! This is our first time here and we came here through an amazon local voucher. Let me just say BEWARE!!! The server we had, he treated us so badly! He tried to educate us on how to use and redeem the voucher with such attitude! He got our meal wrong and never once returned to ask how we were doing! He even waited on a couple next to us and they had 5 star treatment because they were ordering from the official menu. He wouldn’t even turn to us. Im just horrified at this disrespect. As far as the food, its yummy and good belinis. Nuff said. Oh and our meal was incomplete too! We didint get our starter course! Having worked in the service industry, never have ignored a customer.

I ordered online a picnic for 2. When I came to pick up my basket, it wasn’t ready; only because I ordered for the wrong date, for the following day. The server was a so wonderful; she offer to give me a picnic basket that was already prepared for a later pick up time. She saved the day. I was able to have my mother daughter picnic in Central Park as planned. They are located one block from Central Park; perfect location. The food was delicious; plenty for like 3 people. 2 prosciutto and mozzarella sandwiches, pasta salad, bread, olive oil, a cheese and meat platter, 2 lemon bars, biscotti and 2 water bottles. Also included is the utensils and a tablecloth. Perfect day at the park.

Came here with a groupon. The service here was just okay and our waiter switched around a lot so they were constantly unsure if we had our order had been taken or what we asked etc. The waiters were very nice though and made sure to fill our waters. However the groupon menu was so delicious! It came with a bottle of red wine which was very welcome. I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the restuarant, it made it feel really homey.

I am definitely a fan. A friend an I came for dinner with a Groupon for a three course meal with wine. The waiter brought us the pre-fixe menu right away and was able to scan the Groupon right from my phone. The restaurant was not packed but was pleasantly buzzing for a Tuesday evening. My ravioli in a mushroom cream sauce was heavenly. The appetizer portions were very generous. If they had given me one more ravioli I wouldn’t have had room for my entrée. For entrée I had filet(it was quite petite, probably only 4 or 5 ounces), which came with a choice of sides. I really enjoyed the experience, and the servers were very attentive, coming over regularly to pour us wine from the bottle chilling on the table. I want to come back for dinner to order from the regular menu.

This is possibly my new favorite restaurant in the city and DEFINITELY my favorite Italian restaurant in the city. I recently had to go 100% Gluten-free which is pretty much the worst thing ever, so to have found a place where I can still enjoy all of my Italian favorites is really very exciting. This place has a full GF menu that includes pastas, pizzas, desserts and even Chicken/Veal Parmesan(very rare). I went with a friend who is not GF and he was also impressed with the food. Here’s the breakdown: Started with an excellent glass of Pinot Grigio and for me to call it excellent, it really had to be excellent. I’m one of those people who think white wine tastes like white wine and red wine tastes like red wine, but this particular glass was very tasty, to the point that I commented on it to my friend several times(I think it may have started to annoy him…). We shared the Beef Carpaccio for an appetizer. The portion was adequate and the hearts of palm were an interesting addition. I’d never seen them used in this dish before, and I’ve eaten ALOT of beef carpaccio. My friend got a pasta dish for his main course which he raved about and I decided to go with the GF Veal Parmesan which came with a side of GF pasta, both of which were delicious. It’s hard to find a GF pasta that comes close to replicating the real thing and this was one of the best I’ve had(though Barilla will always make the best IMO). For dessert, I got the Flourless Chocolate Cake which was a terrible idea ONLY in that I was already stuffed and had no business eating dessert, but it was TODIEFOR. Seriously, I would go back to this place just for this dessert. It was warm and decadent and the flavor was spot on, complemented perfectly by vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. My one gripe about dinner was that I had to pay extra for GF bread, even though regular bread is complimentary. To be fair, they did warn me ahead of time that it would be extra, so it wasn’t a surprise, just slightly annoying. The décor was excellent. We went around Christmas time and they had very tasteful holiday decorations that went with with the homey, family vibe. Service was great. I would definitely recommend this place for both dates and families(though it may be a bit on the pricey said for the latter but hey it’s the UWS, what do you expect?) Bottom line: I will most DEFINITELY return… hopefully with someone who will be paying for me ;)

A group of my friends and I were getting together for brunch and we wanted to pick a place that was not going to be crazy jam packed. The awesome Josh K. recommended Pappardella as he’s had good experiences there before. It was a good call in that there really wasn’t a huge crowd. We were the biggest group there and even before we left the restaurant never became a loud at-capacity brunch nightmare. The restaurant is really cute, with wood tables, paintings on the walls and oddly, what looks like it used to be an ice table now used for storing fruit. Go figure. There’s a full bar in the back and overall, it was very calm and quiet, which is a nice change of pace from the usual Manhattan brunch experience. Unfortunately, for what you pay the brunch isn’t really worth it. I had the farmers omelet with tomato, baby spinach, ricotta, roasted potatoes and field greens. The omelet was good, but nothing to write home about(I had to add a bit of salt and a lot of pepper to really get some flavor). I was also surprised that at $ 13 the dish did not come with any sort of toast. I did get to try a piece of flatbread with tomato sauce and cheese and that was very good(I’d recommend that over their omelets). The staff was very courteous and service was good. They did get one of my friend’s dishes wrong, but they corrected it as fast as they could. A good experience, but I get this sense this place is probably more geared towards dinner rather than brunch.
