Excellent food and great service. It’s tough to find a better steak in the City. This has slways been my go to spot for a juicy filet mignon.

5 stars all the way based on my recent two visits for dinner(theatre on a weeknight and busy Mother’s Day): Customer Service — From the moment you walk in, the staff welcomes you with a warm smile and promptly shows you to your table; they seem genuinely grateful that you have chosen to dine at the Palm(knowing you have endless other options in midtown Manhattan) and they appreciate your business. Our server, Josh, was very professional yet friendly and energetic. Most importantly, Josh displayed a great level of knowledge and expertise as he responded to our dozen questions regarding the menu while offering excellent recommendations. During a previous visit, our server was Salem, who also provided exceptional customer service and instinctly knew what I would want as an appetizer, entrée, and confidently chose our wine — I asked no questions, but it was like magic. These gentlemen clearly take great pride in their work and made both experiences memorable! Now the food — 5 stars for everything! Fried Calamari — fresh indeed :) Surf and Turf — lobster was extraordinary and filet oh so perfect Three Cheese Potatoes Au Gratin — did somebody say 3 cheese potatoes?! Wow! Crème Brûlée — I had to stop my husband from licking his plate Cheesecake w. raspberry sauce — delicious! Cost — very reasonable Ambiance — it was a good decent crowd with positive energy, yet not too loud so that you can have a decent conversation without having to shout. You’ll note that I have not written many reviews, much less with this much detail, but I have dined at Del Frisco’s(steak was super salty, service failed to meet expectations, and the prices were outrageous). I have also dined at Bobby Van’s — the steak was truly one of the best ever, and the service was good, but the prices were sky high and it was a «stuffy» environment(you don’t exactly feel like you can«let your hair down»). The Palm makes you feel right at home and you can laugh out loud without hesitation while enjoying great service, great food, and if you’re not with good company — don’t worry… the staff at the Palm will be sure to make you smile!

So here’s my review from beginning to end… The hospitality was great, from the hostess to the waiter everyone was very attentive and accommodating. The bread basket was mixed, some very good fresh bread to almost stale depending on which type and the butter was practically frozen and difficult to spread. Once we ordered the food came out quickly. The Caesar salad was only so-so. The steak was very tender but lacked any seasoning. My daughter’s 9 oz. filet mignon($ 49) was pretty much cooked to order, but my fathers steak(who likes it rare) was overdone. Surprisingly enough since this is a steak house, the veal parmigiana($ 37) was quite tasty, but the veal was not all that tender. The fresh cut fries with garlic and Parmesan were REALLY good and the creamed spinach was above average, but the Brussel sprouts were awful, they were undercooked and tasteless. We ended with coffee and no dessert. I would expect more for the money that was spent. I would not choose this place again, but if someone else wanted to go there, I would go again.

Cute restaurant with great service. Here’s the breakdown of the food: Shrimp cocktail = 5⁄5(shrimp are huge and cocktail sauce has a nice kick to it) Bone in ribeye steak = 3⁄5(it was very fatty and chewy, and it was only mildly seasoned. Cooked to order, though!) Filet mignon = 3⁄5(even more bland than the ribeye which is expected, but it wasn’t bad) Creamed spinach = 5⁄5(best I’ve ever had) Cheesecake = 5⁄5 Flourless chocolate cake = 5⁄5 Bread basket was nice, but the standout was their butter! Baked potato was good, but it’s baked potato. Very large. So overall, food was better than average but the STEAKS were disappointing! Considering I came here for expensive, tasty steaks and not sides or apps, I wasn’t thrilled. I would come here to try their Italian dishes maybe, but definitely not for steak. I wouldn’t call this a «steakhouse» since their steaks were bland and overshadowed by everything else we ate. Also, we each ended up paying about $ 130 per person(each person got a steak, one side, and three of us split one app and two desserts). Prices are really steep here so beware — if you want great steak, try somewhere else where you get a bang for your buck!

I’ll keep my review short. This theater district restaurant seems to cater more to out-of-towners than real steak lovers. The bartender’s cocktail making skills is questionable, since I had the worst Old Fashioned I’ve ever tasted. Come on, it’s not a difficult or complicated cocktail to make. I think it’s just lack of care or passion or maybe most clienteles have watched too many episodes of Mad Man. Had the 14 once Filet and it was cooked very well, but lacked any favor. I don’t like using any steak sauce on my steak if it’s seasoned perfectly, but this one was very much lacking any seasoning. The sides were good, but I don’t go to steakhouses for the sides. The steaks should be the star. At the Palm, the steaks didn’t seem like they were getting the star treatment like other great steakhouses in NYC do. There are so many other great steakhouses in NYC/Brooklyn, so go explore. I only came here because of business dinner. Yeah, the décor of cartoons and caricatures on the walls are interesting, but when you’re paying almost $ 60 for a steak, the meal needs to be the star, not the décor. If you are in the theater district and must have a steak and visiting from out-of-town, sure the Palm is an interesting experience. Enjoy.

For the drink pours alone they get 5 stars but have to save the overall 5 stars for the best of the best for food and drinks. A great bar who still hasn’t sold out and began measuring out each of their drinks. Free pour and eyeballing it works. No need for measuring the ounces. Great bar, great people. J

This year we celebrated Valentine’s Day at Palm and it was a pretty solid meal. We’d been to the TriBeCa location before but this past Saturday was my first experience at the 50th street location. I honestly don’t know too much about the franchise itself but as soon as you walk in you notice all the«famous» people painted all over the walls just as the TriBeCa location. It’s definitely interesting to scan the walls and admire the art. We had a 5:30 reservation and were seated promptly upon our arrival. We were offered the 3 course Valentine’s Day menu; however, we already had what we wanted to eat in mind so we ordered our usuals. I ordered the lobster bisque as an appetizer and the salmon for my entrée. We also ordered spinach for the table. The lobster bisque was incredible! I could probably eat that all day everyday. They bring out the bowl with just lobster in it; I’m assuming to prove to the customer that there is actually in it. When it arrives at the table then they pour the bisque over the lobster. I highly recommend it. My boyfriend ordered the crab cake and he always talks about how«meaty» it is. He would totally recommend the crab cake. My salmon was okay. I had it broiled. I remember it being better last time. They offer it several ways, maybe I had it prepared another way last time I’m not sure. Next time I’ll definitely try something else. However the spinach was delish! My boyfriend loved the veal parmigiana which he’s had several times and absolutely loves. For desert I had the key lime pie topped with a blueberry compote which stole the show. For sure the best key lime pie I’ve ever had! Overall, the service was attentive and speedy. The ambiance was very casual chic. We will definitely return and I highly recommend Palm to anyone in the area catching a show on Broadway or simply in the area.

Thank you, Palm, for a wonderful Valentine’s Day(night before)! We are regulars and always enjoy the Prime Rib. This time we ordered off the Valentine’s Weekend Prix Fixe menu. A 4 lb Nova Scotia lobster, Prime New York steak, Lobster bisque, Kale/Pancetta/Almond/Apple salad, and Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding. OMG! One delicious bite after another! We kept eating, in total delight! Service was great! Manager was top-notch! Hostess was great and checked on us. All the locations are terrific! Los Angeles too!

Went to see a play right on Broadway and then stumbled into the palm! Old school vibe super cool. Everybody was very nice. Had the porterhouse with creamed spinach and hash browns. AMAZING! Also had a bottle of cackbread and that was perfect as well. Expensive but amazing. I love nyc.

It was a special occasion on the night we went to The Palm. My boyfriend’s birthday to be exact. He’s a huge fan of steak and it’s one of his goals to hit up all the big steak houses in New York! We both started with an appetizer and drinks. He ordered the bacon wrapped scallops with a balsamic dressing while I decided on the lobster bisque. Both very good and not too filling. For our mains we both ordered a filet mignon, his of course, was the bigger of the two. I got mine was a side of chimichurri sauce. Both were cooked perfectly and extremely tender. For dessert we had homemade donuts and a flourless chocolate cake. It was a lot of food and we definitely didn’t leave hungry. Each dish was perfect and exactly what we expected. He enjoyed it immensely and I hope I made it a birthday he’d always remember!

Not for me. In fairness not aimed at me either, even it had been 5 stars I’d be unlikely to be a regular. Ok, here’s what I liked. Buzzy and atmospheric Waiters totally on point in terms of fulfilling pre-show schedules. Here’s what I didn’t like. So so food(not a massive fan of steak anyway but this was far, far from anywhere close to the best I’ve ever had. Prices, ok I get it, midtown rents etc etc, but I live in west village and don’t normally baulk at NY pricing but this was eye wateringly expensive, for what in truth was an average meal. Sorry.

Came here on a Thursday night for our holiday party. It was very busy and very loud. Service was horrible. Not attentive, hard to get waiters attention. Took forever to get anything we requested. We had the worst seat in the house. Right outside of the kitchen. It was tight so everyone that walked by bumped into our chairs. I ordered the 9oz filet and my wife ordered the lamb chops. One side of my filet was burned. Did not have much flavor. For $ 48 I expected more. My wife thought her lamb chops were flavorless as well. For desert my wife ordered the fresh berries. She liked it but he can you mess that up. I ordered the warm donuts. Also very good. Came with cinnamon sugar, chocolate and a raspberry sauce. We didn’t enjoy any of our meal/service enough to want to go back. Especially at $ 150 a person.

Last year, my team took a group of clients from North Carolina here for a «getting to know you» lunch.(I should note that The Palm-West Side offers 2 different menus: Business Lunch and Lunch. We ordered off the latter.) We had a group of 10 diners and were seated promptly. The restaurant was busy, but not overcrowded, and the service was first-class. I ordered the Jumbo Crab Cakes, which came with tartar sauce accented with a bright chipotle flavor, as well as a delicious potato side dish that had hints of Parmesan, and some bright, fresh-cooked vegetables. My department head ordered a luncheon salad that he said tasted fresh and exciting, and the guys who tried the steaks were highly satisfied. In fact, by the time the main entrees came, our business chat turned quickly to cries of «Oh, this is soooo goooood!» and everyone relaxed and began joking around and bonding. If this isn’t the definition of a successful business lunch, I don’t know what is. The seating for our group was roomy and comfortable, and we were able to take in the restaurant’s ambiance from every angle. Our client team was charmed by the service and delighted by the food, and we all enjoyed checking out the amusing caricatures adorning the walls. We spent 90 minutes from appetizers to the check, and were able to head back to the office(near 30 Rock) for our afternoon meeting session with plenty of time to spare. If you’re in the mood for an indulgent business lunch or an outstanding Theater District steakhouse experience, this is the place.

This place was just ok.(technically 2.5 stars) of overrated coming from SoCal where I eat fine steak. The filet Mignon 9oz was ordered as medium and it had no flavor, wasn’t as super hot and lacked soft tenderness meat! :(Morton’s and Ruth’s Chris was waaaay better. My husband ordered a 14oz and the same reaction. Limited wine options by the glass. Ahi tuna for appetizer was just ok. Again lacked flavor. Everything was just at average level and pricy! I will not come again. A bit disappointed being in NYC…:(

I have been going to this location since I was a kid. It is my opinion that the best steaks come from the Palm and Peter Lugers. The wait staff is very friendly and personable. Even the mangers are great. The atmosphere is very intimate and cozy. The bar area is very nice and the drinks are excellent. There wine selection is very nice I recommend the Merlot by Duckhorn it’s excellent. There calms casino is excellent as well as there Beacon rapped scallops. I tend to always order the porter house for two rare. It is beyond excellent. The goat cheese smashed potatoes are good as well as there three cheese potatoes. They are not in the habit of telling me no so there are somethings that are not on the menu that I’m able to get but that’s a secret lol. There burgers are also excellent. I used to eat at this location every Friday for lunch and they let me build my own burgers and that made me very happy. There chicken Parm is very good. I would also recommend the aged double cut Porter House cooked rare. That steak was so good it changed my life I’m serious. At a place like this be prepared to spend some money but is is worth every single scent. All said and done I would most def. recommend this steak house. I like it so much I’m part of there 837club and am working my way up to getting my face on the wall.

My sister and I had dinner here the other night. We both got the smaller size filet mignon, one glass of wine each, and shared a small potatoes au gratin and a small brussel sprouts. For dessert we shared a flourless chocolate cake and each got a cappuccino. The total bill with tip was $ 240. Everything was very good(except for the flourless chocolate cake… it was ‘garbage’) but… I found the cost quite excessive. I’d expect to pay $ 120/person at some high-level dining establishment where the focus in on fine cuisine, fancy presentation, etc. I don’t expect to pay that at a ‘steak restaurant’, albeit a good one, and considering we shared many dishes between the two of us.

Everything was just on point tonight. I’ve been here a few times and they never cease to raise the bar. Raw oysters and lobster cocktail were bomb. Picked out a nice Malbec. Our server was attentive and split our dinners so we didn’t have to do it. Even cut our steak in half and cooked it two ways! We left no stone unturned and had the Crème brûlée before leaving. Ugh I want it all again! Ask for Josh. Amazing night

While in New York, I was told the Palm was a place we shouldn’t miss. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. Service was excellent every step of the way. Celebrity caricatures are everywhere and the ambience is nice. We were given some excellent bread and I could have made a meal out of it. It was piping hot, fresh, and had great flavor and texture. It melted in your mouth. I had the half chicken parmigiana, the filet mignon, and we shared the au gratin potatoes. My fiancée had the chicken parmigiana and a salad. The chicken parmigiana was to die for. It is one of their signature dishes and it lived up to my expectations. It was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. It was fork tender and the half was really more than big enough for both of us. The filet was also cooked perfect and came with some delightful parsley butter that enhanced the natural flavor of the beef. Her caesar salad was fresh and well balanced. It had just the right amount of dressing and was full of robust flavors. The au gratin potatoes were cheesy, gooey goodness. The potatoes were tender and the sauce was great. We had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to eat at some of their other locations closer to home.

I came here for lunch before a Broadway play and just love this place. Mind you it’s only one visit and it was lunch but I can’t believe I have passed this place up so many times. If you are a drink snob like I am. this is your place. Extensive drink menu, average NYC prices and you will not hear the words«sorry we have no mint» even though it’s the middle of the winter. I’m a drink snob who won’t guzzle down a beer and don’t like super sweet drinks with juices. The cocktails are sophisticated, flavorful and well thought out. My Strawberry Fields drink was $ 11. I ordered a bunless burger which was cooked perfectly and delicious. It was only $ 15.00 and was more than enough food for me as they were accompanied by fries which were also perfect and hot. Our watier was super friendly and service was spot on. Give credit where credit is due. This place was five stars for me that day!
