Great burgers and the food is always fresh. A NYC icon that impresses all visitors. Lately the portions have been getting smaller. Hamburgers no longer include french fries. I think almost $ 7 for a portion of fries is a bit over the top. I enjoy the place, but don’t frequent it as much

One of the more eclectic old school bars left in the City. The place has a Jukebox(a CD based one, not digital) that probably doesn’t have a song made after 1988. Crowded, weird bathrooms, and décor that hasn’t been updated since the aforementioned 80’s, but that is the allure of the place. You get people from all over the place hanging out here. The restaurant part is also great, good burgers. I went for the Cadillac, and it was great. Good seafood as well. Place also does a raw bar.

I hadn’t been there in years, and I’m glad I went back. I had the Cadillac burger, which was solid. I also had the onion straws, which were tasty. My wife had the fish tacos, which the server recommended. They were really good. The female server from Ireland was the type who serves as a customer’s advocate, with solid advice. The only reason it’s not five stars is that it’s on the pricey side, but I will definitely be back. The back room was very handsomely appointed.

This place gets called a ‘tourist trap’ or the likes a little too often. I find it to actually be very good — a lot better than similar ‘less touristy’ restaurants all over midtown. The space itself is actually pretty charming, and even more so at night. Anyway the menu is pretty standard, however they always seem to have specials as well. My favorite menu items are the mussels and the burger. The burger with caramelized onions is fantastic. There are a lot of good burgers in NYC, however a lot more mediocre ones. This is an actually good burger. Deserts are also quite good as well. Delicious cheesecake. Overall, I like this place. The prices are a little high for what it is. Drinks in particular run well over $ 10 a pop, and I think the burger is in the 15 – 20 range. However, I will still be coming back to this place, mainly for the burger.

Love PJ Clarke’s. I had only been to the downtown location in the financial center, so I was glad I was able to checkout the midtown location. I met a friend for lunch(which was super yummy) by where she worked so we were able to catch up. PJ’s was packed(as I expected), but they were able to seat us quickly and the waitstaff was pretty attentive. We both had the kale and goat cheese salad, mine with salmon and she had hers with grilled chicken. It was really good and definitely filling. If I had any compliant it would be the price, but that’s expected with PJ Clarke’s. 2 salads and 2 non-alcoholic drinks came to $ 60+, ouch. I do love them for apps and drinks though :)

Well, okay. Where do I start? The burger I got I really enjoyed placing in my mouth, chewing it and then swallowing it. When I took my first bite, there was a warm sensation on my chin. It was some barbecue sauce as it turns out! Goodness, it was one messy and deliciously wonderful burger. I guess where a star is lost was the price… Mostly because the fries were an extra six or seven bucks. And the fries were not that great. However, the service was solid and the atmosphere is unique. Also, there was a candle on the table if you are into that kind of thing. Flame on! Also, check out the urinals!

I’ve passed PJ’s a bunch of times and was always curious. It does attract a lot of tourists. Around 6 on a Saturday the bar was packed and tables were full. I had the burger with cheese and mushrooms. It was about $ 16 with no fries. Fries were about $ 7 more. It came with sweet pickles. It was cooked how I ordered and tasty. The mushrooms were delicious as was the cheese. It was just I and overall flavorful. My friend had the salmon burger. She said it tasted very fresh. She liked all the extras on it like the corn and avocado. Hers came with homemade potato chips. Hers cost $ 18. Their drinks are not cheap. Wine ranges from $ 12-$ 15 with a mediocre pour. They have maybe 7 beers on tap. A beer is about $ 8. Our waitress was very attentive. She was able to suggest a good glass of wine and a burger. They have daily specials. The lobster mac and cheese sounded good! Also, they have a raw bar with oysters.

Super fresh raw bar! The different kinds of oysters and clams and where they’re from were labeled with a little wooden stick. The sauces that came with it were fresh and not overwhelming for the raw seafood. 5⁄5 The PEI mussels with the tomato sauce was also very good, one of the better mussel pots I’ve had. 4.5÷5 For dessert I had the cheesecake and apple cobbler. They were about a 4⁄5. Service was great. The hostess was accommodating and our waiter was attentive. 5⁄5 Other patrons and diversity. You can’t really control other customers so this isn’t on the restaurant. Pretty mix and diverse crowd but there was a good amount of older white folks. The table next to us was staring at us the entire time at our super diverse table… Literally since we walked in. Then at our food when it came. 4⁄5 Definitely will come back for seafood!

Went here on a rainy day, it was nice & cozy inside. I had the baby kale & goat cheese salad with salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection, perfectly seared & seasoned. The salad was delicious as well and filled with all my favorite salad fixings. My brother ordered the jumbo shrimp salad & it had one shrimp they said another 2 shrimp were chopped into the salad but it did not taste like it. The rest of the people I was with had burgers which looked decent. My meal was the best of them all.

What can I say about this place? As an Irishman, I love my Guinness and this is one of my favorite places to have a pint of the black stuff. I always go here and have a relaxing pint or two at the bar. The bar staff are extremely nice and talkative. They chat way with ya no problem. I haven’t eaten here yet but I plan to soon. There is a seafood bar on your right as you walk in and according to friends it is very good so I have to try soon! All in all, it’s a great place for any occasion! They have table service at the back if you would like a meal… If you have a group of friends, there is space by the bar to stay and have drinks for the day and if you can sit by the bar, it’s a great spot to chill. Good selection of beers and they will make you any cocktail you want if you ask. Highly recommended with a great location on 3rd Avenue!

Dropped in for a drink and some appetizers. Place was rather busy for a mid-week lunch, mostly with regulars and business types. We sat at the bar and received prompt service. The bartender had a heavy hand when pouring my glass of wine, which I enjoyed. Husband got the oysters, which were huge and delicious, according to him. I don’t eat slimy things, so I opted for some house-made tater tots. They were a generous size with bits of fresh potato inside and topped with parmesan. Although they were tasty and better than the frozen kind, they weren’t the best homemade tots I’ve ever tried. Would stop back in again if in the area and try a burger — they looked incredibly juicy!

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience at PJ Clarke’s. We decided to go for my boyfriend’s birthday and it was his first visit. Our waiter was awesome– I believe his name was Mike. He was very friendly and knowledgable when we asked him about the restaurant’s history. We ordered 6 fresh oysters or «naked Cowboys.» We also got the Mac & cheese, mushroom burger, and«the Cadillac» burger. All delicious. Prices are around $ 15 a plate, which I thought was very reasonable for NYC. This place is known for their burgers and I can see why! We will definitely be back. Super pleased!

Favorite place for burgers in the city, I go back everytime I visit NY. I recommend The Cadillac burguer, and the onion rings are an absolute MUST. Leave some space for desert, and try the peacan pie. They don’t take reservations but their bar is a great place to hang out while you wait, where they serve good beers and oysters.

When you enter PJ, you enter an ambiance, an atmosphere… Wooden bar, noisy talks, dozen of whiskies … Before having dinner in the restaurant room, you definitely have to stop at the bar, which is an oyster bar ! There’re not so many tourists and it’s really nice ! After a few drinks, let’s have dinner ! In PJ, you can meet many kind of people, families, coworkers, young people who’re eating amazing burgers with their fries in a corner ! It’s definitely a great place to eat, in a really nice atmosphere!

The Hamburger Au Poivre was phenomenal! Possibly the best burger I’ve ever had. It’s an 8-ounce patty served with cracked pepper sauce, Grafton cheddar cheese(on the menu it says Cabot cheddar), and Jimmy peppers(thin red and yellow peppers), and thin strings of onions, topped with an Arnold’s White Bread bun. I had it cooked medium, and it came out soft and tender, with the right amount of pink in the middle. I’d had never had cracked pepper sauce on burger, but it tasted wonderful and the juices were soaked up by the bun(which made the bun taste wonderful too). Due to the sauce, the burger didn’t need the«Sri Kensington’s Ketchup» that was on the table. The burger was pricey, but it was well worth it. The shoestring fries were a bit too crunchy, but had the right amount of salt and were very good. Their Cadillac Burger sounds amazing too(country smoked bacon and American cheese)!

This review is only for dessert. So I was looking for a late night dessert spot in UES/midtown east area and everything was closed except for McDonald’s. Seriously, not even comparable to LES. In any case, we stumbled into this place and realized how good it was. The restaurant is in the back. We got seated and immediately had great service. We asked for recommendations and ended up getting the whisky bread pudding(!!!) and the blueberry cheesecake. Both were phenomenal. The bread pudding had an initial jolt of whiskey flavor bug that quickly gave way to your fragrant and moist bread pudding. There is a little crème on top that complemented the pudding well. The condensed milk type drizzle at the bottom of the bowl was divine. This was a very recently portioned dish. The cheesecake was very well done. Soft but just firm enough. Very dense with great flavor and fresh blueberries. It went really well with the bread pudding. From the décor, this place looked storied. My friend had been here before and just loved the regular food too. This place should be at the top of hour list if you’re looking for late night food or dessert. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

It’s crowded at the bar entrance but before you can make your way in, you see the oysters and lobster you can order on ice. The menu has a good variety of drinks and price listed very clearly. Even with the packed crowd by the bar I applaud the blonde curly haired and tall male bartender taking my order so quick. Then when in the back restaurant pretty much almost all the tables are full. It’s busy in the restaurant in the back. Those waiters and waitresses are kept busy but were on point. Had just a burger with cheese and bacon. It had a soft and meaty beef patty, good tasting. The cheese was well melted as if attached to the beef patty. Good combo together, good that it did not need ketchup. A bit oily, maybe from the bacon or not. But the bacon was done close to perfect, not burnt and held it’s shape without wrinkling, yet it held a light crisp, super clean. Fries were –like– McDonald’s fries but x3 better, in that potato taste were present, inside was not air like McDonald’s fries but filled with potato with a light crisp, again like the bacon no signs of burnt, super clean and cooked right in the middle, like the burger also. Manager/Host/Owner was very friendly. Dark lighting yet you can still see everything. Yes, television but doesn’t seem like the modern up to date fancy screen. Place is definitely English/American classic wooden décor looking, like Cheers bar in Boston on a busy night, kinda like it but not really because I got a tall blonde curly hair, very attentive bartender instead of Sam Malone.

Decent food in an NYC classic. There are several P.J. Clarke’s locations nowadays, but this is where it all began. You get a sense of the restaurant’s history when you walk inside. Originally opening its doors in 1884 for Irish immigrant laborers, the restaurant continues to operate in the same location and managers have done a nice job of keeping its traditional ambience intact. It is cool to think that celebrities like Sinatra and Jackie O use to hang out here. I came here last week with my girlfriend for dinner. We sat in the dining area adjacent to the bar, and we really enjoyed the casual atmosphere. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. We started with the parmesan tater tots as an appetizer, which were pretty good. I ordered the fish and chips as a entrée, while my girlfriend ordered the chicken pot pie. Both items tasted OK, and the portions were large. Pricing is a little high, but it is nothing outrageous by any means. I will come back here to hang out, grab a drink, and hopefully try one of their burgers. I definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the area and want to see one of the city’s original establishments!

I was in NYC the other day, and I looked up bars that would be in my area. This place came up in some list as being one of the«10 best». It mentioned that Sinatra was a regular, so I was sold. - It was a Wednesday night and the place was surprisingly packed. We squeezed through to the back, and the hostess there immediately asked us if we needed help, which meant get out.(The back part is the restaurant area — the bar is up front.) The place has a lot of character, neat little seating areas there. I’m sure it’s impossible to get them! But it looked cool. - We stayed in the bar which was just impossibly crowded. Guinness was good, if expensive. But, it was good for a couple beers.

I had no idea this place had that much history in NYC! Apparently it’s a historical landmark and was an extremely popular bar. The setting inside is a little darker than usual but it goes well with the ambience. Tables were a fifteen minute wait at lunchtime that day so we grabbed seats at the bar instead. Really nice service and it’s just a must-do thing if you’re in NYC. I got the Thursday special which is the bbq ribs(I believe) and it comes with corn. We also got a side of sweet potato fries which I really recommend! Probably the best ones I’ve ever had. The ribs were pretty good but could’ve been better. Some parts didn’t have sauce and ended up being too dry but I still cleared it off. My boss got the burger which he said was AMAZING. If I ever come back here, I’ll definitely try that out and even maybe get something from the raw bar! Really happy I got to come here :)

It was the worst evening of our vacation in New York! It already began with the announced menu. We went there because of the burger menu, but, not as promised, there was just one burger on the menu in the restaurant on first floor. Then it went on. The service was incredibly bad. The air condition was freezing us and our children. Even after telling them twice, it was still too cold. Just after I mentioned, that I cannot enjoy my evening, the manager switched off the air condition. Next was the duration until order. It took the lady 20 mins to take our order and it took one hour until we got our small burgers, which were totally average. Nothing at all special. The best came at «checkout»: we were a party of 16 and the payment process took us longer than 45 mins. Incredible! When I got pest with one of the waiters, he even told me to not scream at him! If I had screamed at him, he would have known for sure! Absolutely unacceptable behavior and worst evening in any restaurant since a very long time. Not at all worth the price! Sorry!
