Came for brunch. Food wasn’t great but service was good. We both got chilaquiles, which had some heat but otherwise lacked flavor. My friend added chicken to hers(+$ 7!!) thinking it would be pulled chicken or cut up grilled chicken, and wound up getting this massive chicken leg and breast. Super weird.

We were told there was a 15 min wait for a table, got a table after 30 minutes and then the hostess told us we only had the table for about an hour. Wouldn’t have waited if they told us that from the begging. The food was ok, wouldn’t eat it again though. Typical American-Mexican: too much cheese! Service was good once we got a table!

Over hyped brunch place in west village. With similar price I can easily find places with better food and better service in the same neighborhood. Came here without reservation one Saturday noon. No wait around 1230pm. I got guacamole rojo while my friend got egg Benedicts. The guacamole rojo is small in portion and too simple as a brunch dish although it has a nice spicy kick in the taste. Overall, not recommended as worth-a-visit place.

I’ll start out by saying I was a VERY loyal customer. I sent everyone I knew here. That’s why for Cinco de Mayo I made a reservation for 4 more than a month in advance! I love Cinco de Mayo and was so excited to celebrate there. Three days prior, I got a phone call letting me know that they were cancelling my reservation bc they anticipated it being very busy. I offered to put down my credit card to reserve the table, but they essentially told me I could wait in line w everyone else. Made no sense. How hard is it to show appreciation for your loyal customers? So now I was out of a place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and forced to boycott a favorite restaurant. I made the mistake of going back after craving their enchiladas. The way that we were treated proved that the Cinco de Mayo behavior was not a fluke; rudeness seems to be in their DNA. What’s more — the food was terrible. I’m pretty sure that instead of enchilada rojo sauce on my dish, it was marinara sauce. At least I don’t have an issue boycotting this place any longer.

My friends go here every Friday and it never gets old. We order the Happy Hour margaritas(skinny cucumber, prickly pear, or the original), tacos(fish tacos are the best) and chorizo nachos but I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. This place fills up fast so expect a wait, but as I mentioned, it’s worth it. I’ve only ever sat at the bar, and bartenders are great, friendly, witty, and amazing drinks. What else can you ask for? Super convenient location to multiple subway lines? Done.

Pretty good brunch. No wait on the weekend day that I visited. I had a coffee and huevos rancheros, and my friend had a pineapple margarita, coffee and Eggs Benedict with a guacamole chile sauce and queso fresco. Everything was very fresh and tasty. The brunch menu was a little limited, but it looks like they mostly do lunch/dinner here anyway.

Food was okayish. Nothing special. The chips and guac and potato fries were decent. Tacos on the other hand is not worth it at all. The fish taco was okay, but the shrimp and pork taco is VERY dry. Pork was dry to the point it was hard to chew. Waitress and waiter have a habit of not saying excuse me. I understand that the place is a light tight, but no need to push my chair in from behind to get through and not like I was sitting far out. Also no need to reach across my face repeatedly. Food was also cleared from the table when we were not even finished.

Looking for real and tasty Mexican food? Look no further. Perfect brunch spot! The food is great and so is the super friendly service. I came here on a Saturday brunch and it was the perfect spot to catch up with friends while eating an actual tasty Mexican meal. I ordered the hibiscus mimosa which really hit the spot as far refreshing goes, and started with the guacamole, which hands down was one of the best. As my main meal I got the Chilaquiles with chicken and it was awesome! The Huevos Rancheros were great as well. Overall a delightful experience. Highly recommend!

We made a reservation for 3 people on a Friday night and still had to wait half an hour to get our table. Needless to say, we were not pleased, hence the 3.5 stars. However, the food is actually pretty good. The pork belly tacos had a ton of fat in the meat for those who love the fatty ratio. The fish tacos were beer-battered tempura-style, also very good. Taco entrees come with 2 tacos per serving, which did not sound like a lot but turned out to be quite filling as they are generous with the ingredients. Guacamole was also quite good with a slight kick to it — my only complaint is that the size was a bit disappointing. We finished the guac way before the chips! The platanitos were SODELICIOUS — a MUST get. Caramelized and slightly crunchy on the edges, these were perfectly fried. The only downside to this place is(aside from the poor management of reservations), it was very very loud on a Friday night and we could barely hold a conversation among 3 friends. Not asking for an intimate couples dinner here, just to be able to hear each other without shouting…

Friday night. 8PM reservation for a group of 3. Did not get seated until 8:30PM. Meanwhile, a group of 4 without reservations were seated at 8PM. Not cool. Food did not come until well past 9PM. Food was good, though definitely not as loudly as the price tags speak.

Needed to update this review because I LOVE Ofrenda. I’ve been here at least a handful of times in the past year. Great happy hour for the West Village + great location + delicious food! I just keep coming back and suggesting it as a location to meet up with friends for food or drinks after work. I’ve had the classic guacemole(fabulous!), the fish tacos(SO good), the Queso fundido al horno with huitlacoche(yummmmmm, so cheesy!). They also make a great(and strong) classic margarita. Can’t wait for the outdoor section to open. I’m getting pumped just writing about Ofrenda.

Wanted to spend some time on the west side on a nice Saturday afternoon, so my date and I decided to check out Ofrenda for brunch before doing so. We called to see if there was a wait, and luckily there wasn’t. It’s on the corner, a bit difficult to see, as there really isn’t a great sign for it, but it has pretty good street presence, once you know about it. It feels like a neighborhood spot, where people consistently come back there and they will remember your name. There were a couple of tables for us to choose from, and we opted for one of the tables in the front, next to the floor to ceiling windows. The restaurant itself is pretty open and they take advantage of their space well. There’s a small bar on the left side when you walk in. There were mainly couples or other small groups, enjoying food and talking — wasn’t too loud of a place. For brunch, I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and my date got the Enfrijoladas(sans chorizo). I was underwhelmed by both dishes — the huevos rancheros didn’t have much flavor to them or beans in the dish… the large sunny side up egg took over most of the dish, and it was pretty small. I added some jalapenos and hot sauce to give it some extra kick and taste to the dish. The Enfrijoladas were interesting — better than the huevos rancheros, but still felt like something was missing. The tortilla would break apart easily and just tasted off. It was in a bed of sauce, which made the otherwise dry burrito-like dish a bit more moist. Overall, wasn’t thoroughly impressed by their brunch.

This review is strictly for happy hour dinner when it was jam-packed with patrons. I’ll try to remember since it was a tipsy kind of night for the 6 of us. The place is small, intimate(not a romantic intimate because with the music and everyone speaking over it, it gets pretty loud), and very dark. The staff here were wonderful and did their best to keep up with us despite how busy it was. I tried the smoky jalapeño and the mango margarita; both were good, but I personally like the ones at Cask Bar & Kitchen more. We tried the guacamole w/chips, chicken quesadilla, fish tacos, sweet potato fries w/jalapeño truffle salsa, and panzita tacos(crispy pork belly, cucumber carrot salad, chile de arbol BBQ). There were more that my friends ordered, but I can’t remember what. Everything was delicious and tasty. Loved the guac and the sweet potato fries with that truffle dip. Yum! I have nothing bad to say about the food nor the service. Would definitely be back again during HH.

I initially lumped Ofrenda into the league of Dos Caminos and Rosa Mexicano: overpriced Mexican brunch spots with mass-made food and watered down margaritas, all disguised with the promise of «fresh, table-side» guacamole, geared for a very specific clientele. I’m happy to say that my initial judgment was definitely false. While Ofrenda does suffer from being a bit overpriced, I did find the food much better. Came in a small group recently for a pre-Super Bowl brunch. The restaurant has a very casual vibe, with the bar right up front, with the shelves of different tequilas. It is a bit cramped, so perhaps not for huge groups, but a group of 4 – 6 wouldn’t be too bad. Started off with some chips and guac, which was pretty great, and chunky enough not to taste like mush in your mouth. Sure, they didn’t make it in front of us(ha), but I’ll allow it. Ordered the fish tacos, which I was very happy with. The fish was crispy, with some really good creamy slaw. It came with a sizable portion of rice and beans, which were decent, albeit very standard. Got the blood orange margarita, which was very strong and delicious, although packed with a bit too much ice. Service was decent, and our drinks were replenished quite fast, although it took a while to flag our waiter down to get the check and pay. Prices, as previously mentioned, are definitely more than you’d like to pay for Mexican brunch, but the food quality ain’t too bad, and an breakfast entrée and margarita only came out to about $ 25. I would consider coming back if people were really feeling Mexican for brunch, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way for it. Nonetheless, the food is quality, and the value is head and shoulders above the other Mexican brunch options, so you could do worse.

Where to start with this gem in the West Village… Literally some of the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life; and I can confirm I’ve had many tacos! Ofrenda does not look like much from the outside-your typical looking restaurant– but the drinks and food especially are on another level. I have been there many times, and each time I go I order a margarita and an order of tacos(they usually change up the taco menu so you won’t get bored of the same ones). I have also tried the guacamole and it was spectacular; again one of the best guacamoles I’ve ever eaten. As for the drinks, although pricey when not during happy hour, they taste very good. Their margaritas come in many different flavors and they are all made perfectly. The sangria is also decent but perhaps a little weak. I would recommend this delicious, upscale Mexican restaurant to anyone, especially during happy hour!

… Can someone please invent a teleporter that will take me from Jersey to Ofrenda whenever I want??? I’m already experiencing separation anxiety from Ofrenda. I’m totally in love. My boyfriend and I randomly stumbled on Ofrenda after a long day of walking, and just needed some food in our system. We didn’t even check the Unilocal reviews first… That’s when you know we were seriously desperate. Must’ve been fate because Ofrenda remains our favorite Mexican spot in NYC! Before you look at Ofrenda’s menu and decide against going when you notice that it’s pricier than most Mexican restaurants in NYC, keep in mind that you’re going to be getting a unique experience. I’m all for authentic hole-in-the-wall Mexican joints, but I absolutely love that Ofrenda provides upscale Mexican food in a chic, romantic environment. I’ve never in my 21 years of life had better chips than the FREE basket that they give you to start off with… They’re so fresh that they will still be steaming at the table. I’d be perfectly content with eating those chips everyday for the rest of my life. The combo of the homemade guac and chips is just to die for. As for the food, don’t miss out on the tacos! I’ve personally tried both the fish taco and pulled pork– loveddd them. Each order comes with 2 small tacos so I’d recommend ordering a side dish or another order of tacos. And get this. They have happy hour SEVEN days a week from 4−7pm. Drinks range from $ 5 – 8 and food options are set at $ 8. So if you don’t have the money to spend on the«real» menu, this is perfect opportunity because you’ll still get to taste the yummy tacos:) Ofrenda is definitely going to stay one of my go-to spots– it just never disappoints. I’m already excited for the next time that I’m able to go back!

Happy hour 7 days a week 4−7pm anywhere in restaurant, not just at bar They also have 3 sidewalk tables for the warmer days $ 5 beers, $ 7 margaritas on the rocks(extra $ 1 for flavors), and $ 8 appetizers –blood orange margarita: tasty margarita, i usu don’t go for flavored ones because they can be too sweet but not the case here! –guacamole & chips: fresh chunky guac with fried garbanzo beans on top that add a crunch! loving the thick cut fresh fried chips! –quesadilla de chorizo: these super cheesy quesadillas were surprisingly filling! comes w/a salsa verde to add some spice definitely a fan of this happy hour spot!
