So, my college roommate and I – we hadn’t seen each other in 30+ years! — walked down Restaurant Row, looking for a place for lunch. Reading menus, we found specials priced in the mid-twenties, but neither of us wanted to spend that much. Then we came across Ocha. A bento box, plus bowl of miso, was priced at about $ 11.00. There were several items to choose from — I picked teriyaki chicken, R chose salmon — but seeing sushi at a neighboring table, I was sorry I didn’t go with that.(I’m adverse to eating raw fish in restaurants I’m not familiar with.) Aside from the attractive price, the food was really good. Plentiful portions, too. And to our delight, nobody rushed us out, as my former roomie and I sat there catching up on each other’s lives. Good place! ,

Lunch bento special! Beef Negimaki was exquisite. Huge quantity too. Great worth for under $ 10.

I’ve only ever gotten the lunch special delivered and it’s been good every time! All together, including the delivery + tip, it comes out to be about $ 14-$ 15 for miso soup, salad and dressing, white rice, 6 california rolls(with soy sauce and ginger), a spring roll with sauce, and an entrée with veggies. The shrimp teriyaki entrée comes with four shrimps, so I think I’ll stick with the salmon teriyaki, which is a considerably larger portion. Everything tastes fresh, comes at the right temperature(for some reason, I can’t stand it when the salad is hot or the miso soup is cold), and the delivery always arrives before the estimated time. If anything, the meal tastes a little bland/could be more flavorful, but definitely no major complaints here! If I were fancy and could afford $ 15 lunches all the time, this would probably be one of my staples!

I’ve been to ocha many times for lunch and have never been disappointed. The sushi is good and the lunch specials are even better.

When we first walk in there was only one pair of people eating here. Only reason I even bothered sitting down was because I was rushing to eat and my girlfriend really wanted sushi. But during our whole entire dinner no one came to dine in. The price is fair I guess but they give filet mignon a new definition«tough» haven’t tried anything else but I for one don’t like it. My girlfriend who ordered the salmon teriyaki also found the salmon to be a little tough.

Everything was flawless. One of the best Japanese restaurants in the city. Good for date, business or small group gathering. Fish was fresh. Service was absolutely great and friendly. Good fish with decent price!!! Their lunch and dinner special… THUMBSUP!

I eat at Ocha about once a week during lunch time and I’ve been quite pleased with their food, atmosphere and service. They have affordable lunch specials — for $ 8.95 and up, you can get a bento box with miso soup, entrée, a spring roll, salad, California roll and rice. I usually get the salmon teriyaki, which has a nice crispy salmon skin and is served with steamed broccoli, carrots and baby corn. There’s also a ‘special combination’ bento box, that has shrimp shumai, seaweed salad and veggie tempura in lieu of the spring roll/salad/CA roll combo. Both boxes are good. The restaurant is tucked away on Restaurant Row, and it’s a little dark inside, but I’m not really looking for amazing atmosphere when shopping around for a good bento box. It’s cozy, the server is always friendly, and I’m able to get in and out in less than an hour. A nice, affordable and healthy lunch in Hell’s Kitchen!

The food was good. We ordered the dragon roll, which was a specialty roll… it was good but not worth the $ 13 it was priced at. Chicken fried rice was decent, too.

Great place for an inexpensive and quick lunch. Nothing was outstanding but the quality matched price and service was prompt and kind.

I order sushi from this place almost every second day. Their sushi is ALWAYS fresh, rolled well and the service is fast and friendly. Once I found this spot I can’t go anywhere else — their sushi is the best!!! All this being said, I should also point out that I am extremely picky about my sushi and this is the first place to ever gain my complete satisfaction.

I love this place. Great sushi and service for a reasonable price, especially in this area. It is super convenient if you’re in a hurry to grab a bite before a show. Reliable takeout and delivery too!

Your standard average Japanese place. I think we came in thinking this was the fancy Japanese place that was actually across the street. No doubt in my mind, it wasn’t. Average prices, nice big sapporas, and not a customer in sight. The food was good, but don’t come to people watch!

Update: one thing I would point out is — if you are ordering on seamless web for Ocha, they usually don’t read the comments you put in your order. So if you wanted to tweak your order(no wasabi, replace the California roll with spicy tuna, etc) you are much better calling the restaurant to place your order. We always have requests that we state clearly in the notes on seamless and they are ignored 90% of the time.

(Delivery and Take Out) I’ve ordered literally over a hundred times from Ocha, and their quality/order ratio is very, very high. I’d describe the sushi as «high-end neighborhood» sushi, very fresh, basically but cleanly presented, and after 4+ years of eating it, fresh and tasty. The people who take my order are pleasant, clear(always repeating the order, which I find very smart and helpful), and after a few times of my making a specific request(low-sodium soy and extra ginger) remembered it, and added it without my needing to ask. This is the kind of detail that makes one go back to a place when there are a dozen other options available, if not more. Favorites are the Shrimp Tempura roll, the Ocha roll, and the basic sushi/sashimi deluxe, which is as good as straightforward, no-frills sushi gets.

This restaurant is one of many along this street, the outside is nothing to write home about, more like entering a basement, the interior is cramped with light colors wooden tables and chairs. The waitresses are friendly and very efficient with getting our food to the table and keeping our water glasses full. I ordered the colorful Bento Box, the portions are nice, the fish was very fresh and the presentation was colorful and clean. The prices can’t be beat especially by Manhattan standards. I’m glad DH and I popped in here on a whim. We had a nice time and the noise level was not bag considering this place was tiny. .

*Take Out and Delivery Only* So this used to be my go-to take out and delivery place because of its speed, price, and proximity to my home and work, but over the past few months they’ve gotten progressively worse. While I am all for loyalty, I don’t think I can order from here anymore. My last order was for a chirashi dinner set, which is my usual go-to, and even though the quantity of fish in that bowl has shrank in recent orders, I persevered because I was in a rush and needed dinner to arrive within 30 minutes. Seamless had them quoted at «15−25» so I ordered, sat back, and waited. After 45 minutes I called them and they told me the order was just leaving. Another 15 minutes later, my food finally arrives. This would not have been the dealbreaker alone, but when I opened my order I noticed a white growth on my salmon pieces. I don’t know exactly what it was, but my natural gut reaction(and I think probably the right one) was that the fish had gone bad. I threw those pieces out, but was hardly in the mood to eat the rest of the food. Two stars and not one because 1) I’ve never actually eaten in the establishment so maybe their dine-in service is better; and 2) because they were solid for the better part of the last two years, so perhaps I just had a few bum orders in a row.

How can I not rate this place 5STARS? It’s where i met my gf, and future! It’s small, and the girls are very quick and friendly. You can tell it’s kind of a local’s place, because everyone know what they want, and are fairly quick! If you want good sushi without paying exobitant prices, I highly recommend this place1 Especially if you split a bottle or two of saki! The bathroom is downstaris and difficult to navigate, so if you have mobile issues, this probably isn’t your place! 5STARS

Okay, I’m a fan of Ocha! They tap into my genetically inherited frugalness and offer a dirt cheap lunch special — 2 rolls with soup or salad for $ 9. And the rolls are not totally botched as I would expect from such a filthy deal around Midtown. No, the salmon is fresh. The avocado is fresh. The spicy salmon is tasty! It does not use the crunchy filler stuff. Quick service as well: I’ve gone in to order and have left in less than 10 minutes. Lady at the front is always very nice.

This cozy little place is on 46th Street’s restaurant row between 8th and 9th. The fish is fresh and menu offerings are extensive. The sashimi sampler was generous, and the salmon tartare had a great sauce. We ate at the top rated Sushi Yasuda two days earlier, and Ocha was much better at a fraction of the price. Service can be a bit inattentive, but if you’re in no hurry it’s a great choice.
