We went to One World Observatory on a Saturday morning, and got out around lunch time. One of the closest restaurants to One World Trade is North End Grill, and it had good ratings, so we decided to try it. Reservations were easy through OpenTable, got seated and served immediately. The atmosphere is comfortable as the front-facing wall is all windows allowing you to see into the street and onto the Hudson river. The brunch menu is fantastic. The poached eggs and their homemade potatoes are amazing. The manager, or someone who seemed like the manager, went around to ask everyone how their visit was too. I’ll agree that this restaurant isn’t «cheap,» but the pricing was exactly what I expected in Manhattan. Everyone was satisfied with the visit to this place!

My fiancé and I came here for New Year’s Eve dinner and it was the perfect way to close out 2015. They did have a NYE Pre Fixe menu but allowed us to order a la carte(honestly, I could give them 5 stars for this alone). We feasted over the farm lettuces, the duck fat fries, duck breast(clearly we’re big fans of duck) and the braised short rib. We ended with the incredible butterscotch pot de crème. There wasn’t a single dish I wouldn’t order again! While the food was amazing, my favorite part of the meal were the fun and offbeat wine /sherry pairings recommended to us by the sommelier. My fiancé took a wine course about a year ago, and a lot of the teachers were from the beverage team at Union Square Hospitality and so one of the sommeliers actually came by to say hello to him. It was really thoughtful of them to make a note of that and it made us feel very welcome! All in all, highly recommend if you’re planning a(fancy) date night and want to enjoy a quality wine list.

Went for lunch on a weekday and thought that the food was overall good but biggest drawbacks is that they are very pricey and cater to corporate card holders for business lunches. The service was wonderful, friendly, and accommodating. It does lack ambiance but I assume people are there to discuss business rather than to really enjoy a lunch or dinner out. It suited it’s purposes but I probably wouldn’t go back on my own. I ordered the grilled local trout with lentils and bacon. The trout was filet’d and grilled very well. The seasoning was on point. The lentils were dispersed on top with four chunks of bacon. I enjoyed the dish but it was on the very small and light side. I also ordered the blistered shishito peppers which were a nice accompaniment to lack of sides for the fish. Overall, it’s not my scene if I were to dine off from work.

My husband and I were staying at the Conrad Hotel to celebrate our daughter’s 21st birthday and prior our arrival I did research on where we should get some good eats! The North End Grill received rave reviews and it is literally next door to the hotel. I made a reservation on Open Table and put in the comments section it was a special occasion. Corey, the manager called me the day of our reservation and told me they would like to ensure our experience was a memorable one so they would have a special cocktail prepared for my daughter. Huh? Whoa! True to form, we arrived and felt like a celebrity. We sat at a beautiful table, right in the middle of the main dining room and were immediately greeted by Corey and our server, Freeman, AND cocktail immediately placed for our daughter! So 5 stars for the VIP treatment, but let’s get to the FOOD! GO for the Porterhouse– at $ 114 it fed all three of us– cooked to perfection. It was more than enough for 3 big eaters. We opted for«Medium» and it fit everyone’s tastes as ends were more done for me while middle was more pink for the husband. Plus– it comes with duck fat fries! They were crispy, fragrant served with aoli! Reminded me of Belgium! Sides– Cheesy potatoes and sautéed spinach. I repeat, CHEESY, potatoes — and they were served in a humongous bowl. We wanted to lick the bowl clean! Dessert– go for a pairing — a scrumptious dessert plus a wine, tawny or port is the perfect ending! OK Wrapping up, this place was the BOMB! My daughter said«best meal she ever had in her entire life!» Thank you North End Grill, Corey, Freeman and compliments to the kitchen and staff. Rich and Malia

I have dined here a few times. The atmosphere is rather casual for being so close to wall street. The last time, I was there, I was dinning alone and was seated at the bar with the perfect view of the kitchen and witnessed the great lengths they go to deliver good food. Their wine pairings have always been great. Looking forward to my next visit. Definitely worth it!!!

Loved that it was a nice location, attentive staff, and very nice décor. We popped in here after a movie date(we live in the hood) and got a pleasant meal without reservations and decent wine list too. However, it is your basic nouveau American Grill that is priced on par with it’s next to Goldman Triburban location. Foods decent but nothing to write home about. Would go again if timing were right, but probably not a destination nor planned outing.

Upscale but not stuffy! Great atmosphere to have a good time. We were lucky enough to have seating by the kitchen to check out the action and plates before they make their way to the respective tables. Rudy had a Gaslight and I had a sidecar. The Gaslight was amazing. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary appetizer — Smoked Sable and White Beans, just delicious. We ordered the Stuffed Cabbage Soup with Duck and Black Truffle and Smoked Sable with Schmaltz Latke and Sour Cream. Rudy and I kept tugging at each other’s plates; needless to say both were better than expected. We saw a Salmon Ceviche topped with Roe and ordered it. It did not disappoint. It had just the right amount of citrus and a nice not too creamy texture. The row was nice and plump. No fishy taste here. We found the ingredients to be top quality and fresh. Then we saw a Foie Gras platter and decided we had to give it a try; we usually like our Foie Gras seared but this was served cold with Schmaltz toast and slivers of Apples. It was an awesome combination. We were quite full but decided to share a Dorade for the main course. It was the best we have ever had. Our forks were all over the plate tugging at the fish, yummy! Sorbet for dessert was the perfect way to end this delicious meal. We are definitely looking forward to a return trip! Thanks Chef Korsh for a great dining experience!

«Expensive, upscale casual but excellently executed food» would best describe this lively restaurant. I think service was on point but not super welcoming or as fast but maybe that’s just being a lone diner on a busy night — just had higher expectations of a Danny Meyer restaurant. Still they were nice and gave a toasted bread with some sort of fish spread which was not expected. I’d skip the artichoke. It was nicely grilled but for ~$ 16 definitely not worth it. I think it was only half an artichoke or it was pretty small and the aioli wasn’t anything special. The octopus salad came out nice — definitely a different take on octopus than I ever saw. The octopus was very tender and the beans had a nice crunch coupled with the peanuts. The squab was the star. It was perfectly cooked so it was very tender and not at all tough. The sauerkraut-like accompaniment was a nice complement too. Overall found the dish very flavorful. Sitting right at the chef table bar overlooking the kitchen gives you a front row seat where you can see the amazing wood grill and the cooks at work. I wouldn’t mind going back but I wouldn’t go out my way to come. It’s not cheap or a terrific value but I’d say you are fairly getting what you pay for here.

Came here last night with my boyfriend and we had a decent experience. I started out with a «Pink Lady» Cocktail which was tasty. We shared the grilled octopus app to start which had 4 small pieces in a chili oil and while it was delicious, I thought it was a very small portion. Also thought it was way too much oil at the bottom of the plate. For the entrée, I had the loup de mer which were clams with a piece of fish with a little broth and cannelini beans. It was good but nothing mind-blowing. My boyfriend had the short rib which was much more flavorful. Service was very quick– we were out of there in under an hour. On my way out, I overheard the hostess go «that was quick!!» Thought that was unprofessional. The restaurant doesn’t have a ton of competition because the closest decent restaurants are in Tribeca which is about a 10 minute walk. I would only come here if you happen to be in the area.

Grabbed dinner and drinks the other night here. Enjoyed the short rib burger and the duck fat fries were phenomenal. Also enjoyed the $ 1 oysters. Love this spot — it’s fancy without being stuffy.

This restaurant is fancy. One of the more fancy around world financial. Like crisp table clothes, fresh flowers, sleek design, and very attentive service fancy. For lunch I had the beef burger, and it was so satisfying! Juicy, seasoned well, and topped with tempura onion rings. The fries are also very yummy. The yellow sauce was so good that I ate way more fries than I probably should have. Not sure what it is, but it is GOOD! A place to impress with solid food + great service :)

A few people recommended this place and so we went to try out the shellfish bake they have on Sunday nights. There were three of us and the bake didn’t feel anywhere near big enough, given we paid $ 40 per person for it. We all left still feeling hungry! We also felt the seafood was not good — the lobster was not very tasty, the shrimp was slightly grey and translucent(didn’t seem cooked). Perhaps it is better to go to this restaurant and try the regular menu, but we were not impressed.

Great atmosphere, beautiful kitchen. Went to check it out after I went to the Gramercy Tavern. Clams flatbread is so delicious. Perfectly spiced and the flavor from the clams was just outstanding. I love your wine list. One thing I can say about the place, and it’s just a feedback, I am not going to downgrade it just because. But as friendly and approachable the staff is, they don’t give out their names. Just calling you by your name makes a bigger difference.

INSHORT: A neighborhood restaurant for the non-neighborhood that is Battery Park City. «Regulars» at North End Grill tend to be Wall Street VPs having a power lunch or a team dinner, but if you happen to be down in the too new, too shiny, slightly souless and anonymous urban necropolis that is this area of lower Manhattan, there is no better place to dine. THESTORY: For most people who live on the island of Manhattan, Battery Park can feel like a suburb. There is a lot of grassy space between tall, quiet complexes of apartments and condos, there are kids playing Little League in the parks on the weekend, and there is even a mall that anchors the area and frames it against the water. And when you live in the numbered streets, it can feel really, really far away, isolated by towering, faceless behemoths of buildings that harbor most of the power and financial capital in the city. Here lies North End Grill, Danny Meyer’s contemporary American grill tucked into the ground floor of a sleek hotel around the corner from the mothership that is the Goldman Sachs headquarters. Here is a slightly friendlier, more comfortable space that sympathizes and agrees with its corporate clientele while providing an authentically enjoyable experience for the residents of this strangely suburban office park in the city. As a result, the food is very good, everything is a little expensive, the people around you are powerful, and the staff is oh-so-kind. The better dishes in the modern, chic space tend to be those that are seafood-focused, but chef Eric Korsh uses an imaginative hand coupled with classic French techniques to enliven each plate. The Charred Grilled Octopus Salad with fingerling potatoes, string beans, and white anchovies was creamy and succulent, but not without bites of fishy saltiness from the small, lovely anchovies. While the temperature of the beans was a little too cold and undercooked for my liking, the octopus itself was plump and perfect. The Black Bass with thumbelina carrots, fava beans, pearl onions, and turnips was dressed in a light but rich, buttery sauce, and might be the standout of the seafood plates. The skin was salty, seared, and crispy, almost hovering over an immacuately cooked piece of delicate, tender fish. Chef Korsh also reveals a great deal of his dexterity in using a wood grill with the Duck Breast, seared and crispy with rich charcoal flavor that is then balanced by light beet greens and bright grapefruit. The space itself is quite large, and some tables are evidently much better than others, particularly those that are relegated to a back wall by the water station. Yet North End Grill is still delivering an important menu to a corner of the city that suffers from a lack of fine dining options. It is a restaurant that will educate and please the wealthy, powerful clientele working nearby, while somehow dressing itself as appropriate for family dinners on weeknights as well. And in fact, that’s what this neighborhood is all about. More on

Came for the drinks, and drank, and drank, and drank some more. Amazing selection of spirits, love that they have a good Bourbon selection. Was pleasantly surprised to see Jefferson’s Ocean available here, found it to be very smooth and delicious. Haven’t had a full meal here yet, but in terms of food, I’ve had the shishito peppers as a bar snack and they really hit the spot. There’s a hint of sea salt that encrusts the outer part of the pepper, and then you pop it in hoping that you didn’t get the 1 in 10 that is super spicy. Really an amazing dish to pair with bourbons and whiskies. Oh and did I mention the duck fat fries? Ummm. yeah. duck fat fries.

Not bad, no great. It’s my least favorite of Danny Meyer’s empires(I love Gramercy Tavern, Maialino and The Modern… Shake Shack too!). Pretty dining room, very attentive service, but the food was nothing special. Expensive meal for 4 people w/drinks. $ 220 per couple. Very good burger and great fries. My poached salmon was farm raised, not wild, nothing special that I could not make at home. Grilled octopus was boring w/not hot potatoes, the whole dish was lukewarm and meh. Salt cod croquettas were delish, as was the pâté. The seafood bake for $ 35 came with a pathetic little salad on the side. Very odd. Still, a nice Sunday evening in Battery Park, but too many other choices in that neighborhood now.

North End Grill may strike you as a super upscale, hoity-toity establishment, designed to attract the corporate types and wealthy Battery Park yuppies. And yes, it is exactly all those things. However, it certainly doesn’t mean that the food and drinks are by any means overrated or bad here, just a bit hard on the wallet(or expense account). I first came here in 2012 for a self-funded welcome lunch when I started working in the area. Being the relatively low man on the totem pole, so to say, when I came here, I opted straight for the short rib burger, mostly because it was the least expensive item on the menu, and what the hey, you gotta love a good burger. From what I remember, the burger was really juicy and delicious, although the fries were just a bit on the soggy side. I swore to myself that one day, I would be able to come back on my own and try the other items on the menu, and actually be able to afford it. Fast forward about 3 years later, I found myself dining here again, slightly higher on that corporate ladder, and what do you know? I tried some of the other dishes. This time, I went with purely seafood and got the octopus salad, and shared the black bass as the entrée. The octopus was charred and perfectly tender, and the black bass was very light and flaky, and was perfectly complemented with the sweetness of the onions/carrots it came with. I didn’t have the gall to drink during the work week, so I refrained from the temptation of the cocktail list, although some of the cocktails being brought out looked pretty darn good. The service is quite friendly and attentive. And I mean, attentive. Water refills came out of nowhere, and at the end of our meal, the check came very quickly, which was very much appreciated. Likely a symptom of the many, many, corporate lunches taking place here. The price tag was definitely hefty for a weekday lunch, but the quality was great, and it put me in a very good mood for the rest of the work day. That said, if you can expense it, definitely come here to do so, and you’ll probably be in a better mood and you’ll get far better quality than P.J. Clarke’s nearby. And even if you can’t expense it, just know that you’ll at least be paying for something that’s more or less worth the price. I’ll be back for the occasional team lunch, or even just a Friday when I’m hankering for a classy, high quality meal.

Didn’t have a good experience here. First off, our waiter disappeared after getting our waters and several waiters whizzed past us when I tried to grab them. There was also another table behind us who talked to their waiter the entire night about what to get and how life was going. They were extremely loud and despite me trying to grab a waiter, the waiter at the table behind us didn’t offer to help. Nope. They just kept laughing and talking. I knew he was a waiter and not a customer because started explaining the menu and what he thought the ladies would like(he seemed to know them well as customers). There even came a point in the dinner that he poured LOTS of water or some sort of liquid(splashed on my legs) and proceeded to pour it in the bushes while the ladies at the table laughed. I thought this was extremely unprofessional given that the dinner place was a bit more upscale and less casual. This whole experience going on behind me really affected my food as well. We got the clam pizza, sea bass, and the $ 1 oysters. Oysters were great and the price was very worth it(only offered at 8−10pm). The fish was also really good and flaky but the portion was a little small. Clam pizza is good for those who are hungry but the taste can get a little bland so we put Tobasco sauce on it. All in all, I was really hoping for a better experience here. I read from other Unilocal reviews that the service is great here so I got my hopes up… never again. I just can’t believe a waiter would actually pour something in the bushes! Even if you’re trying to please your guests, that’s going overboard.
