I think the music here was great. I must have visited on a really good night because the place was popping! Sure it was crowded, but I would be a little skeptical of a dance club that was nearly empty. The girls there were so nice and no I don’t mean the bartenders. I mean the sweet girls in the restroom that held the door for each other, including me, because the lock was broken. Seriously, shout out to all the girls we meet in club restrooms when we’re half drunk. I hope you’re all doing okay! Great music selections. The DJ was playing some throwback joints. So much to the point that I went to sit down and my butt barely touched the seat because I jumped right back up to jam to one of my favorite old school songs. «Hey! Dirty! Baby I got your money, don’t you worry!» Great place. Laid back crowd. No one was being rude. No on was shoving each other. I had a nice experience. Will I come back? Yes indeed!

The place seemed sketchy as first but by the end of the night, I was absolutely in love. The Saturday night DJ was great. He played mostly old school hip hop and R&B. We originally found a corner table and couch but a few minutes in, security asked if we’d be willing to move since they were short a reserved table. They thanked us with a round of shots. The bartender Jonah was a character and very personable. Downside: The drinks are overpriced for the area and the ambiance. Far from fancy but three Hennessy and ginger ales came up to $ 48.33. Tip is also automatically added if you pay with a card. Great stop if you’re looking for good music to dance to but I’d pre-game elsewhere.

I have to admit that I wasn’t expecting much from No Malice. I had never heard of it and when we walked in the crowd was pretty scant. We got there around 10:30 and within 30 minutes or so it began to fill up. We were able to sit in a corner a chat for a while, but eventually the DJ turned the music up obnoxiously loud. Though the music was too loud for my taste the DJ was pretty freaking good! Also, the bouncer asked us to move from the small table we were are because it was reserved. This was weird because the bar/lounge seemed a little divey to me. However, he did get my 2 friends and I a free round of drinks to compensate. All in all it’s a cool spot if you just want good music and drinks. It’s small, no frills, very few seats but it got the job done.

Came here a few months ago with my girls after a work event just looking for a chill spot to dance a lil. Crowd was mixed which I liked music was awesome DJ played a lot of hip hop which I liked took it back from old school to 2016 hip hop. 5 $ to get in which wasn’t bad no dress code which I liked. Only thing they had these couches which prob bad bed bugs in them who knows and water was dripping on me from the pipes yuck. I’d go back though I didn’t get a drink so I don’t know how much the prices were but it was cool

It’s a hip hop bar, one of a handful in the area. But I much prefer the others nearby over this place. The music is fine. But for a $ 5 – 10 cover, you get asshole bartenders, wack expensive drinks, and a crowd that made me uneasy, like a huge fight would break out at any second. I say skip it.

I live right near No Malace Palace and while I don’t have anything bad to say at all about the venue, the weekend crowd can be a different story. There have been many nights I’ve walked past NMP with a serious fight breaking out. I love the bar and the location but it is definitely attracts a crowd that can get very intense and aggressive on the weekends.

Good music but while I was dancing, someone attempted to steal my phone out of my purse. Then, while making my way through the insanely packed crowd, they finally succeeded in stealing my phone :(When I informed the bouncers they did a sweep and turned up nothing, but their reactions made it clear that this happens all the time — reading the reviews I’m relieved/sad that I’m not the only one that’s gotten their stuff stolen here. Which is a shame because I really do like the music, but you WILL get pickpocketed.

The bouncer decided to keep an extra $ 5 for himself. Completely shitty and dishonest of him. He apparently decided that the one guy in the group«annoyed» him which was obviously on a whim. This is the first time that this has happened in the past few times that I’ve been here. Nevertheless to say, I’m extremely disappointed. This is first review which speaks to how disappointed I am in this place.

Dive Bar, Dance Club, Free-For-All! If you’re looking for the right place to bring the crew and get white girl wasted then look no further. Weekends are always gangbusters and the DJ has been on-point every time I’ve stumbled through the door. I could do without the $ 5 cover but at least it deters some of the degenerates. A little bit slower during the week but that’s fine by me, the blonde bartender is kinda cute.

This place was extremely sweaty and hot, I was looking forward to the old hip hop music but they were playing songs I’ve never heard of and I was born on 1993 so idk how old the music really was. The only pro was that the bouncers were really nice and gave us no hassle even though the group was mostly guys. This is by far my best experience with bouncers BUT the venue itself I wouldn’t go to again.

One of the most non pretentious down to earth, come as you are dance clubs. Like many of the average to positive reviews… the place is small and like a dive bar night club. Feel free to dress comfortable cause it’s too dark for folks to see your outfit. The music is awesome. They keep it between songs from 2000 to current. Listen I’m not much of a clubber. If u want to be seen, dance cute… this is not the place. It you want to dance and have fun and feel like you don’t have to pose while you dance. This is your place. Shots are 6bucks. If you use credit or debit, it’s a mandatory 15% service charge. The was not cover charge at 11pm on a Saturday night.

I randomly made some friends who invited me to their house party. It was great! Cans of Rolling Rock, mingling with strangers, I think there may have been a dog. Then someone’s like, Let’s go to the bar! Why, why would we leave this awesome place and go to a bar in the East Village on a Saturday night? Obviously I’m too old for anything anymore. Anyway, our group of about 20 guys and 3 ladies approached this bar and I thought, Oh thank god, they’ll never let us in with this ratio. They let us in. Every. Single. One of us. These guys were in Polos and hail from Jersey and Massachusetts. No cover, no fuss, and there was absolutely no where go once inside. The bar was a zoo, while the area in the back was dead. There was no dancing, there was no room to dance. The bartender was positively swamped, with a calm look on his face that tells you the situation has moved passed the point where he’s going to stress out over the crowds because it’s physically impossible for him to move any faster. Obviously you can’t speak because it’s so loud. I slipped out after not being able to order a drink for 20 minutes. And what’s with the name? Why does it rhyme? And why the need to preface that your dance club isn’t malicious? It’s like people who say, «No moar drama plzzzz! I HATE drama!» You know this person is going to be a problem. The second star is given as courtesy because this is clearly not my type of place, but I can’t imagine this is fun for anyone.

Hold up… WHY are people talking smack about No Malice Palace? I tend to stay away from places in the East Village/LES because you run into two type of people — pretentious butt heads who expect all places to look like the Gansevoort… or the annoying frat bro’s who get super drunk and start bumping into everyone during one of their belligerent tirades. Luckily, I found solitude at No Malice Palace. The perfect mix of chill, down-to-earth peeps just trying to have a good time as they dance to 90’s hip-hop and old school jams. The DJ — he was EVERYTHANG. I could NOT stay seated. Every time I thought I should take a break, he played another one of my songs. He kept the party rockin’ all night. The bouncers were super nice and were really helpful when it came to assisting me in finding a place to grab some food. Oh yeah, this beauty is BYOF(bring your own food). I was certain that could end up bad, but a few people were eating around me and it was totally fine with me. The bartenders were ah-mazing. I effortlessly made my way to the bar and was able to refill in no time. Yes, this place is small… but hell — that’s what makes it so great. The vibes in here are so chill. everyone begins to dance with each other and it’s a big ol’ happy place of L.O.V.E. So happy I found this little gem. I don’t know — maybe I’m just too easy to please… but I had a blast at No Malice Palace… can’t find one thing to complain about.

If your looking for a rachet weekend night out in the East Village with good hip hop music and you don’t mind paying $ 5 to smell BO and sweat this is the place for you! I admit the only good thing was the hip hop music. My friend paid $ 15 for a well vodka and Red Bull. I get it this is NYC but the bar counter was filthy covered in drinks and looked like it was not cleaned all night. The crowd is really diverse and it looks like it was filled with a bunch of people still currently in college. I would have loved this place if I recently turned 21 but now I would prefer to spend $ 15 on a well prepared mixology drink at a speak easy.

Years ago(about 5 or 6 years to be exact…) I chose this place as my «birthday bar» because I wanted something fun, cozy and not terribly douchey. I had heard that this place played lots of 90s hip hop and seeing as it was(summa, summa) summer time No Malice Palace fit the bill. I remember it being super duper crowded, very dark and pretty reasonably priced as far as dranks go on the Lower East Side. Everyone was dancing and I’m surprised(and RELIEVED) that I didn’t leave knocked up with the amount of guys who kept trying to dance(more like dry hump and griind) with me and my girls that night. The music was right, all of my nearest and dearest were in attendance and I wore a dress that didn’t survive that night because I think I ripped it when I got home and collapsed in bed. I ended this night much as one does on their birthday during their very early 20s — sans memory. NMP may not be anywhere near being described as a «palace» but this dive bar got the job done.

Last review of 2013!!! Updated: Yeeps! Last review of 2014!!! My younger self would poke my eye out giving NMP three stars. I used to come here quite a bit in the glory days. A divey East Village hip hop bar with an outdoor space where you dance like nobody’s business? Sadly, while I had a great time enjoying the beats, all I really wanted was a place to sit and talk with old friends(with said beats going on in the background). Clearly, I’m getting old. So if you’re looking to do that, steer clear away. You come to NMP with a hopes of a massive hangover the next day; get your drank on, dance in the dark, maybe find that special someone for the night and wait for the stories to happen. A few things I love: they have a huge water jug by the bar you can help yourself to and fill up on. GENIUS! I try to drink 1 water for every drink and that can be a BITCH at crowded bars and so not the case here. The bartenders were on it. Working quickly and efficiently with drink orders. Lastly, I already mentioned the music is usually spot on. Cons and this is a huge one — WARNING — from reading the Unilocal reviews, I see that theft may be an issue. As my guy and I were heading out to leave, I was putting on my coat and some dude brushed past. My guy turned to me and said: «Did you just put your hand down my pocket?» Well, I mean, hey now… but, I actually didn’t. Some guy tried to pickpocket my dude. Be on the lookout, that’s all I’m saying.

Really really really really really SMALL. So, as you would expect, it gets hot and packed. You pretty much gotta shove a few people to get through. The bartenders are super attentive and quick so the bar crowd isn’t as crazy as it could be. The music, though… that’s what you come here for. Too bad there’s not much room to really get down. This place is fun, but can get ratchet real quick lol.
