Just like all Chinese super fast service. Being a vegetarian I get the mixed vegetables which comes with tofu and white rice and tell them to add eggplant pretty good and cheap plus healthy.

Roast pork egg rolls were great! Lots of roast pork, not greasy. Tasted really good. If egg rolls are this good, their other food must be good too. I’ll have to try some other dishes soon.

So I gave this place two tries for Chinese food, both were simply repellant. It’s terrible food… Awful. Their menu is more extensive than many other Chinese places in the area(Eggplant, Ma Pa Tofu, etc.), but they are always ‘out’ of something good, and then when you order one thing, they simply give you the same crap with a different name, full of frozen peas and carrots…

I’m sincerely baffled by these ratings. This food is awful. Not because it’s not authentic Chinese food – I don’t care about that – and not because of the size of portions, which are actually huge. It’s just really bad. Good lord, I’ve never had a meat dish with a diet soda-like saccharine aftertaste, but this place delivered it. The General Szo’s combo was not average or sub-par, it was disgusting. Rubbery, drowning in nasty sauce, with two measly pieces of broccoli(amusingly enough, perfectly cooked) as opposed to the bed of broccoli shown on their menu. And what’s with the orange fried rice? Not orange fried rice as a name for rice with orange in it, but just flavorless fried rice that, for some inexplicable reason, is orange. Forget this place. It’s gross. And I’ve heard it’s the best Chinese takeout on this block. Well, then forget west Harlem Chinese takeout. We’re not that far from better options, and if we’ve got to eat bad food then we’ve got tastier stuff any way you turn. I’m not a food snob. I’m happy to consider a place for what it is, and I’d be thrilled to say that this crappy Chinese place serves tasty crappy Chinese food. The only issue is that it’s not tasty. It’s horrible.

I actually disagree with Davin. They will give you as many packs of soy or duck sauce as you want. Their portions are a lot bigger than nearby take outs. There is a chinese guy there that speaks perfect English and is really friendly besides the fact that he is also HOT! Maybe the chinese lady there could be somewhat rude sometimes. But most importantly the sushi rolls(esp the specialty rolls) were delicious and the sesame chicken and crispy chicken were great.

Stingy, The portion is meager. Lots of rice. No napkins. They give you 1 soy sauce and 1 duck sauce. If you ask for more, they give you 1 more, with a sneer. Average tasting. Nothing special, with attitude. What gives?

Update 01/26/2012 Tasted the take-out the weekend. This place still brings the goods like no other place! Just take a look inside at that chicken and you’ll see nothing but fresh white meat! I cannot be more pleased that they brought back such a standard of excellence after all these years. The rice is finger-licking good! The wings are to die for! The lo-mein is slamming! I got a hug from the owner who asked me about my mom and brother(that’s some history). My order took a bit longer than usual but that’s because the place was literally swarming with old customers and new ones. I still have not tried the sushi. Still stuck on the take-out for now! — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — New Home Sing closed down two years ago because of a fire. I am surprised this place has not been reviewed in the past. In fact I am pretty sure I did and Unilocal probably removed it. As far as chinese take-out spots are concerned It is by the far the cleanest, tastiest, freshest chicken-frying chinese restaurant in all of Harlem and Washington Heights. And it has been that way forever. This place has been around for over 30 years with folks coming in from the Bronx and across the George Washington Bridge. When it shuttered its doors it literally devastated this West Harlem neighborhood and left all of us scurrying to find a decent substitute coming in at a distant second place. I am soooo happy to announce that they will be re-opening tomorrow January 18th, 2012. They have completely remodeled the location and added square to their space. They will now feature a sushi-bar as well! I hope to sample their Chinese food and sushi tomorrow and get back to everyone. Yay!
