Absolutely vulgar! I hate to write reviews such as this after trying to convince my new Australian visitor to try American Chinese food. She was adamant that Chinese was horrible and I was on a mission to prove her otherwise — and I failed horribly. After a half portion of wontons and almost no substance in the house special soup, I was embarrassed. We took the food from the store to the apartment when we found this problem with portions. It only got worse, there were no noodles and no fortune cookies(… Not really the biggest deal, but after one blow after another it was a shame) I thought maybe the food may taste better but it got worse… I chewed into a wonton and bit into a piece of metal scourer — when I went to call to let them Know they lied and said there was only one person in the shop and hung up. I called back on another number and they told me to bring it in. Honestly after a long day I cut my losses but I had enough energy despite my nearly 24hour day to warn people of this disgusting place. I am mortified for even trying to swing my friend the other way on Chinese and now have ruined her perception of Chinese food for good, which damages other great Chinese venues out there. Please do not go, there are plenty around. Sorry new happy joy Chinese but you have to be the absolute worst Chinese I’ve ever had in my life. I can get better Chinese in a soul food store.

i come and make a pit stop every year when im in town, not bad for chinese food, i usually get the singapore chow mai fun! i love it! i wish they had this kind of dish in my calfornia hood! i can never find dishes in the bay like this! i think owners have changed but they kept cook! thank god! cause my singapore noodle still taste the same everytime i come! this place is very affordable and quality is not bad. i will say they need to update there photos of food though, it really doesn’t do the food justice when looking at dingy food plate!

If you want food with your oil, you have to request it, other than that this is by far the best chinese in my hood! The owner always cracks you up with his dirty mouth and raunchy ways… he always says when he sees me, «Hey its the white J-Lo!» In my meat eating days, sesame chicken was the best with nice tender meat and crispy outside. Usually its all very fresh and hot. The best thing now though for me is the white rice with broccoli in brown sauce. Al dente, the broccli is ALWAYS fresh and nice, not some sad version of a green veggie thats all mushy like many places make it. The portions are huge too and can make two meals instead of one. If you are looking for takeout that is cheap and gets there pretty quickly this is the spot for you! Watch out for the creeps that are always hanging out on the corner though it gets pretty shady sometimes.

its so dirty, ghetto, and the food is too greasy and poorly cooked. get your chinese elsewhere. i know the cheap prices are tempting, but its not worth the dissapointment. altho, the guy at the counter is always friendly, ill give u that. but in the summer it is like an inferno in there(no AC), and i hate looking at the workers in the kitchen through the counter, they look miserable and tired :((esp in the summer)

You can easily miss this restaurant. The signal lights for the restaurant never seem to work at night. Also this is a tiny place and not much room to hang around. So it is best for pick up or ask for delivery. Somehow it stands out among the rest of the Chinese restaurant because the boss is extraordinary. He bothers to crack a joke or two and tries to remember his customers. Rarely you can find one in a Chinese restaurant who seem to enjoy what he is doing and is always joyful. The boss does live up to the name of his restaurant ~ Happy JOY :) The food is reliably good and affordable.

Above average take out Chinese. Good value. Food is a step above other area places. Delivery can be slow, even on nice days, so take out is a better bet. Owner behind the counter is a character.

It is what it is — typical dirty chinese food like only Manhattan can deliver — literally — don’t eat here — take out or have it delivered. General Tso’s Chicken combo is pretty good when you need a quick Chinese food fix fast.
